Acidosis: Whether Igbo, Yoruba, or Fulani, someone like me will NEVER pay tax to a street tout with smelly dreads and burnt lips.
Why can't the government of the day employ SSCE, OND holders, give them clean uniforms, train them properly, and hand to them tools to work with (IDs, POS, etc.) rather than sending touts and rascals to people's shops?
If you don't have a shop in Lagos, I guess you may never understand what some of them go through.
The shameless government will not act now for election reasons but the day these guys will grow so big ehn, even Sanwo-Olu may have to relocate his family and friends to Abuja.
Let's keep breeding e-diots. The endsars era was a perfect time to totally wipe out these elements from Lagos but they turned the whole thing to a Yoruba vs. Igbo issue. If you tax the Igbo trader unjustly, who will bear the consequences? No be buyers?? Thank You ! You know I used to say it A lot of Nigerians don't have sense. Because only someone without sense with subscribe to bigotry. Every single thing is Igbo vs Yoruba Not knowing that these thugs they are pampering and siding cos they are "their brother" and they must support "their side" will soon become a monster that they no longer control Some even subscribe to the idea of using them to disenfranchise voters in Lagos for exercising their citizenship right at the polls Those thugs were beaten and dealt with in 2019.. And if they come again 2023 The fiasco that will follow will not be nice Let us continue being foolish in this country. |

ednut1: truth is bitter That's not the truth I respect you a lot; but if you have bigot tendencies; then it is very shameful Because regardless of what you say; the implicit message behind that statement was deduced by me and others who are discerning. Igbo people (or any Nigerian for that matter) should NOT accept second class status anywhere they choose to reside and do their legitimate business IN THIS COUNTRY. Let me just assume that your comment was tongue in cheek Cos if it wasn't Then its a real shame |

But after it’s over the government would come and shutdown the market and purnish people defending their business and source of livelihoods from criminals Don't mind them |

Harnny: No one will reason this way but will be quick to condemn the tax collectors. The problem is in Onitsha, it's Igbos taxing Igbos. Believe me if the tax collectors used by lagos state in Alaba were Igbos, no one will raise eyebrows That's not true. The rate of extortion in Lagos cannot be seen any other place To the point where people stand on any bus stop and be collecting money In the South East; your payment starts and ends in the park |

But this thing these traders did cannot be tolerated in onitsha or kano Are you seriously saying this ? I can't believe that I just read (the last paragraph) |

The article is very spot on
Some have said that the poor cannot migrate
That's true
BUT Have you thought of how much your life is at risk because you APPEAR to be a "HAVE" in Nigeria?
Having a few millions in the midst of so many who don't have jack breeds hate and envy for you; and your life is at serious risk
The kind of things I have heard poor people say about these Upper Middle class people made me really disgusted to my stomach |

naijainstinct: Great response Abike.
See, na craze dem dey take cure craze. No one has the monopoly of rudeness. I feel she was even lenient enough. How can you address someone's mother as mumu woman because she is holding a public office and holds a different political view from yours? If we were to rate public officers, Abike is doing far better than most of her peers.
Drug pushers and cultists tarnishing the name of our country abroad wants to have a say too. If you do anyhow for another man's land, you see anyhow.
I blame Indonesia, UAE, Singapore etc for their weak immigration processes. That's why they always attract the worst of us. I cannot imagine any sane person going through the hassle of academic credential evaluation, writing IELTS, obtaining police character certificate, going through strict medicals etc and then end up pushing drugs or forming cult groups. That's why mostly the best of us end up in US, UK, Canada and Western Europe. Your last paragraph makes a whole lot of sense |

udemzeus: Japa is an advantage to the Nigerian economy, diaspora remittances are flowing back to the economy.
It's not a bad idea, Europe has an aging population and will experience shortage of workers sooner than later, Africans should fill up these space.
What I recommend organizations and companies in Nigeria to do is create more internship programs and educate new graduates on how their companies work, tools they she and how they operate.
Then should be used to replace the ones who want to leave .
HR should stop negotiation of salaries with people who wants to leave.
We have a high unemployment rate, if people get offer abroad, allow them to and replace them with people who don't have jobs.
We should stop running business like a family affair, no one is loyal to anyone or company. It doesn't exactly work like that If HR can negotiate their way out of losing experienced staff They better do |

Stone03: Peter Obi is not an economist but has economically proven to be too far better than sanusi even in all his degrees. Sanusi can't make the mistake of engaging Obi in economic debate, he knows that.
What business institution has Sanusi established and it's growing? None. Obi is greatly versatile, not on papers but practical. Sanusi has been CBN governor and a former Bank MD That's actually a lot |

BRATISLAVA: Just what I posted and had a misinterpretation. This place harps on the order of life milestones as if that's what matters.
So what if you have a child before marriage? So what if you're living together before marriage? So what if you're not a virgin when you get married? There's no order to happiness.
There's a lot of judgement and pressure, but people who have tried and can't have it in the expected order shouldn't feel bad to do it in whatever order gives them joy and peace. The end justifies the means. I think I agree with this |
