His level of expertise shows that's not his first time. I can only envy the female members of that church. The man knows how to use his tongue to spread the word.

Mehn I envy the female members of this pastors' church. Too much enjoyment ![]()

Religion cannot reform mankind because religion is slavery. Wake up Africa and leave this dangerous ideology called religion behind.

It is only in Nigeria that leaders are praised for what is primarily their duty. This is long overdue but it is still better than turning deaf ears. Hopefully, we can get long-lasting repairs and solutions to the problem. |
Olivegreen:Among the numerous hateful mentions you will get from hypocritical Nigerians for this awesome post, let me be the odd one out to thank you for being Christ-like and tolerant. I am an Atheist but when I see Christians like these I have a soft spot for you lots and you let me know that not all people are affected by the hateful tendencies religion plants in people. Homosexuality is a form of love, it is victimless and therefore deserves our respect for that. Anyone who doesn't like two consenting adults professing love for each other should keep their opinions in the closet. Again, thank you and bless your heart for this post. |
Sparro:You are so lazy you couldn't even try to quote the Op without quoting the whole post. Typical mentally lazy nigerian. |
B2joa:Flooding is not a 'high class problem.' |
next2kings:That's a beautiful mountain bicycle with nice shock absorbers and a mudguard. How are you still finding it difficult to ride yet? |
VolvoS60:Great post. I agree completely with every single word in this write-up. Thank you! |
VolvoS60:You are not incorrect. But I don't totally think the nigerian space is alien to cycling culture. Pictures of the colonial era and few post colonial years usually depict a prevalent cycling culture. It is just a pity that has been overshadowed by egoistic, poison-emitting and lousy combustion engines in cars. But even the Dutch went through that phase when cars wanted to make a comeback to their roads. They resisted it and now those countries are inarguably the quietest, most green, serene and traffic-resistant areas of the world. And of course the air quality is so good. Car engines are just silent killers. |
sassysure:Funny but true. The African ego in us about things that do not matter are what makes us comfortable in stressful and completely avoidable situations. Denmark, Belgium and Netherlands are the countries nigerian governors and ministers run to to beg for solutions to the traffic problem. These countries have excellent transport systems free of the slightest traffic jam and it is all because of one thing: bicycles and prioritising cycling infrastructure. |
3kay945:No. |
3kay945:All roads that are motorable can accommodate bicycles too.
|
3kay945:Why do you think Bicycles cannot be used in some areas? A lot of developed countries are actually incentivising riding. It is just simply a more sustainable form of transport. These are countries with even more challenging topography in hills and mountains compared to Nigeria and bicycles are their main form of transport. A geared bike makes it so much easier to climb hills. There are bicycles than can get you up to speeds of 75km/h on a flat. Because of gears. Family men, women, Adults, Teenagers, Paeds. Even old people can ride without hassles. Gear technology has made it possible for anyone to get on a bike and ride peacefully and stress free. Cycling is the future. It's simply better than other forms of transport.

6. Ditch your car and get a bicycle. Good for your health. Good for the environment. No such thing as traffic congestion on bicycles. No toxic gas emissions. Maintenance costs 20x less than the average car. Eliminates noise pollution from lousy combustion engines. Less lives lost by auto accidents and motorcycle accidents and so much more. Bicycles are the future. Edit: Anytime you see a cyclist in front of you on the road, that is one less person in a car who would have added to the already bad traffic situation. Pay us some respect.

midnighter:I would like to think that no scientific fact written in the Qur'an was not entirely unknown at the time. As a little bit of research could reveal that the Quran did not pioneer the discovery of most of the scientific theories it now claims to have uncovered. Perhaps, such knowledge was not as widespread at the time and the book only helped to 'publicise' them. And it probably deserves some accolades for that. But that is, of course, ignoring the seemingly ridiculous number of scientific explanations the Quran got totally wrong. The production of sperm from the ribs is an incredibly laughable example. |
mutvy:I have met Muslims who hate Christians as much. Wishing them death and a prospective hell is also a sign of your hate. So you are basically projecting here. (I know you cannot help it). Both religions combined have bred more hate than love and it is why they must be blotted out from the majority in any modern society. |
JimohMomoh:I think all classes of people do away with parts of their "holy book" they do not agree with. Evangelical christians do away with parts of the Bible where it says to put to death anyone who does work on sundays. Fundamental christians do not preach that anyone with two different fabric material in one cloth will go to hell. Most Muslims do not obey the Quran when it says to kill unbelievers. Cherrypicking is one thing that unites abrahamic theists rather than divide them. That said, the misogynistic tendencies of both religions still stands out. |
midnighter:I seem to agree to your post, especially the first part. But on the second part, are you sure about it? Most religious beliefs are easily displaced with some knowledge of basic science. And I think it is understandable, although reprehensible, when religious leaders try to shield their followers from accepting logic and the scientific method in weighing their pre-held beliefs. |
JimohMomoh:That is an interesting observation, Jimoh. But if education is the problem, then is religion still not a culprit? Evidence points to the fact that religion promotes ignorance. A lot of religious organizations tell people that a human's primary purpose on earth is to multiply. As it is what as particularly instructed to humans by god to do under any circumstances. And anyone who comes to earth without offspring wastes his life. Islam for one, is a notorious promoter of ignorance. The alma-jiri menace in the north is an example. Boko Haram are against 'western education' as part of their agenda. I have been to a 'was' where the imam was confidently telling the listening followers that university education is not permitted by Allah. And that in fact science is 'haram.' |
There's a deliberate attempt by the government in all corners of Nigeria to impoverish the citizens. Poverty has been weaponised in our country. That is why a governor would rather donate to a church, perform a thanksgiving there than actually invest in state economy or infrastructure. A good example is Sanwo-Olu, jumping from one church to another on Sundays in the name of "thanksgiving" with absolutely nothing to show for it. Keep the population ignorant. Keep them poor. Then let them have religion as the only source of "enjoyment." And they will keep praying for a standard life while you continue to siphon the commonwealth. Note how the most 'happiest' countries have virtually non-existent religious presence/population.
|
Only a few know this but there's no 'battle' between the political parties. The real battle is between the masses and the government. The sooner we realise this, the better for us all .
|
Another striking proof that religion does not give morals or promote morality. At best, religion promotes HYPOCRISY. You don't need religion to be a good person.

Shibaraba:Tell me again how lonely it must be up there on your high horse. It is called "SOCIAL MEDIA." If you don't want people to interact with your posts on social media then it's time to throw away your phone. |
LegendHero:It was painfully obvious that you were speaking from a position of outright ignorance. I just didn't think you were resident in a saner clime and was out of the state. It is easy to defend Nigerian leaders from diaspora and you are not an exception. That said, if you are a leader and your delegates for a project have failed to do the needful, are you supposed to make silly excuses like "the weather is responsible" or "I'm just a few months in" or get a different set of competent hands on the job? I'm hoping you will choose the latter. How many 4 lane 'highways' are in Lagos? I am sure I can count them on my fingers. And yes, the finances of Lagos state are ADEQUATE enough to cover the costs of rehabilitating these roads. The illegal taxation of NURTW in 6months could in fact do the job. And lastly the problem is not that the roads aren't being repaired FAST enough, the problem is that they are not being REPAIRED at all. Did you get that? The roads are getting worse on a hourly basis and there is no solution in sight to end this madness. Jesus Christ! Get a grip and stop defending the indefensible. |
Beautyaddy:Tell me about it, Beautyaddy. Indeed the two most important infrastructure for any society that wants to move forward is good roads and electricity. These two things are INSTANT transformers of the quality of life of their IMMEDIATE environment. ANYWHERE. 1. Good roads. 2. Stable power. These two keep production costs on a low and the ripple effects of this simple phenomenon is in the hundreds. Even a poor country with these two amenities will have the demographics and stats of a first world nation. Sadly, common sense is not common. |
LegendHero:The irony. Saying that roads cannot be repaired because of "rains" is your own definition of critical assessment? So... countries where their roads are constantly rehabilitated and fixed do not have rains falling in them at all? Even if any quick fix will be done, is filling large pot holes with gravel stones the way to go? Talking about a state with heavy IGR and daily illegal taxation by the transport union in Lagos?? Again, keep defending your paymasters at the cost of your sanity. Karma never forgets. |
Shibaraba:Typical Nigerian mentality. I'm safe so whatever happens to anyone else is not my business. Does it not occur to you that good roads is part of what makes the economy better for us all? Good roads make possible less transport time and zero costs of repairing damaged motor parts which usually drives up sales prices. Less hours wasted in traffic means more hours go into productivity. Accidents are effectively reduced, increasing the ease of business and general quality of life for everybody. Even if you own a helicopter, good roads is what any one who wants progress should clamour for. Do not be penny wise and pound foolish. |
