LegendHero:Humans are the only animals that will asslick and defend their oppressors because of what they will eat. Posterity will judge you for trading your conscience and humanity because of daily bread. |
makizee:No it's not. According to the a particular organisation UN, yes Lagos is a megacity. But in other terms, Lagos only has the population but not matching infrastructure and therefore doesn't qualify as a megacity according to several other schools of thought. |
9jaRealist:According to UN... Thanks for chipping that in. Now I'm of the school of thought that a city with high population and matching infrastructure is what qualifies to be a megacity. So I'm not in the wrong. |
Exponental:Good initiative but will the overbloated African ego in us allow us to come to terms with a potentially viable solution to traffic problems in Lagos? Everyone wants to own cars and blast hot loud stereo music to show off to their neighbours. Lagos is a really small town and biking around will not be as cumbersome as it is in the UK or Netherlands for example. The attached image is me riding from Ikotun-Egbe to Eko-Bridge on a cold morning. 1hr 30mins. Even in the afternoon the time would be roughly the same. Can't say the same for a car in the afternoon. uuzba:Parking is the LEAST problem when it comes to bicycle.
|
Get a two-wheeler (motorcycle or bicycle) and filter traffic to work. If enough people do this, traffic jam will be a thing of the past in Lagos. But this is nigeria. Everyone wants to buy cars to show off to their family and friends. Be different.
|
I hate to be the guy, but Lagos is not a megacity. Yes, the potential is there. But as it stands, the state is retrogressing. Not quite befitting for the megacity description. Attached is how a megacity looks and feels like.

LordReed:I can relate with this. Although I often thought it was never enough. I usually pondered about how many churches would be singing praises to god every other sunday and it suddenly occured to me why a self-acclaimed omnipotent deity would need to be verbally massaged by his own handwork. |
Maximus69:The commandment were god demands worship for himself and himself only indicates that god's needs human worship. Humans are not the only intelligent creatures. If god was willing and able to make us live happily and peacefully -which honestly would be great- why did he create evil? Why does he not end it? Have you heard of the epicurean paradox? |
Maximus69:I was busy at work I was going to post this as an afterthought 2. The "no true Scotsman fallacy" is a sub-set of this egotistical belief-set. The idea that the Christian belief is perfect and so perfect to the extent where no 'true follower' would renounce it is ignorant and self-absorbant. The Muslim also thinks the same; "Ex-muslims were never true Muslims to begin with." Same goes for Judaists, Buddhists and Hindus. This logic would suggest people migrating out of Nigeria for whatever reasons where never 'true nigerians' to begin with? In like manner, Americans leaving their country to Europe were never true Americans right? Of course not. Does it not occur to you how arrogant and narcissistic that sort of belief is? |
Sowore has backed the wrong horse. He should have known better than fighting for ungrateful Nigerians. Well I didn't expect less from a country where the average IQ is less than 75. |
Afterthought 1: Some Christians claim that living a good life is not enough to get a human into heaven except a belief in Jesus is compulsory confessed and confirmed. How ridiculously arrogant does this belief sound? Why would a good god send a good person to hell simply because they didn't recite a statement of 3 lines? |
Our knowledge of science rightly suggests that we have 8 planets in our solar system and we have multiple thousands of solar systems(and I'm pretty conservative with that estimate) in our galaxy, the Milky Way. From the above, we can deduce that we cannot but have anything short of millions of planets existing in our galaxy alone. There are equally millions of galaxies in the universe. This brings the possible number of planets to mind-boggling numbers. In the quintillions. Now Theists, specifically Abrahamic theists,(Muslims, Judaists and Christians)believe that a god created this incredibly vast universe with the intent to have a personal relationship with them. Some believe that a god who made all these cares about what we wear as clothes or what we eat and who we have sex with. Why would it make sense to think a god in all that might needs us to remind him every Friday/Saturday/Sunday about how great he is? I find this to be a very narcissistic, self-centered and arrogant belief to hold. Thoughts? |
Bullshit. Y'all will get this request if and only if 1. You ask for permission from people before you start preaching in buses and other public spaces. 2. You ask for permission before installing deafening loudspeakers in your churches in residential areas. 3. You stop imposing your religious morals, doctrines and values on unbelievers of your religion in government parastatals e.g public universities and workplaces. You cannot be a nuisance in the society because of your religion and cry foul when it fights back. |
fourhayz:You have a point but are you sure about Olamide. His oil and gas song is a mad jam. Totori too is topping the charts. Even though Wizkid and Baddo were featured. Davido's blow my mind is an absolute jam. don't think they're finished man. |
farem:Secular laws aka irreligious laws are superior to religious laws. This can be observed in secular countries in contrast to religious ones. _________________________________ Science is partly based on secularism and not at all on religion. Surely you are not ignorant of the achievements of Science? A lot of religious claims have been discarded by science and scientific explanation. No scientific claim has ever been discarded by religion. That alone completely drills religion to the underground beside irreligiousness.
|
Religion has done more bad than good to humanity and its progress. But when I see humanitarian acts like these I can at least I can put my disgust on hold till they continue to prove me right again.

Buhari please increase the pump price to 200NGN please. If you do this you will be blessed beyond measures amd you'll earn my loyalty forever. Everybody must feel this heat of incompetence. Buhari will increase price of petroleum Insha Allah amin Buhari will increase price of petroleum Insha Allah amin Buhari will increase price of petroleum Insha Allah amin Buhari will increase price of petroleum Insha Allah amin |
ElRapido:I am not exaggerating. In fact, I am making an understatement. There has not been power supply in the environs of Ekiti State University for 6 solid years now(My initial post of 4 was inaccurate.) You can look this up on google or ask anyone who is a student or frequents the state. |
TOPCRUISE:But the government that failed to provide the "welfare" to the students despite receiving exorbitant fees isn't crazy, right? What kind of a country is this? Where asking for your right is termed crazy. EKSU for example hasn't had power on campus/off campus hostels since 2015. Yes, you read that right. No spark of PHCN light in an area of some 10,000 nigerian students since at least 4 years ago. Sick of living a country where this is termed normal. |
am4truth:Typical religious bullshït. |
fortran12:Historical sources say he doesn't. But even if he did, he most probably isn't the magical Jesus a lot of Christians have been made to believe. This is mostly why the Jews don't believe in Jesus. Either ways it proves that all religions, including Christianity is false.

Ain't she a fraudster herself selling people an invisible product from the Middle east.
|
SenorFax:Lmao. You don't actually mean this right? Denikayan:Thunder is a completely natural phenomenon. No supernatural involved at all. |
Mustsucceed:Your belief in god is based on fear. |
iammiracle1:Thank you. Judging by the majority of comments here, it shows how archaic and ignorant the mentality of most nairaland users are. Sleep is a necessity not a luxury. Not everyone are morning persons. And some people just require that ray of sunshine to get their body ready for the day. It doesn't make them any less human or hungry for success than the "early risers" are. If you wake by 4:30am. Good for you. If you wake by 8:30am good for you. What matters is smart work not hard work. It seems people just want to feel good about themselves and their way of life here. And will judge, insult and bash anyone else who isn't living according to their "standard" way of life. Typical of the juvenile and unintelligent forum Nairaland has become. |
morpheus24:I love it when Christians dismiss the Old Testament. At least they admit that their 'all-knowing' god could be wrong about a lot of things. Btw The new testament supports slavery. Ephesians 6vs5. |
henrixx:What FÜČKING right do you think you have to tell other people how to use their FÜČKING genitals? How about condemning the FÜČKING Bible that endorses slavery, rape, tyranny, talking snakes and donkeys and the FÜČKING subjugation of women? One little advice for you hypocritical and homophobic religious nutjobs: MIND YOUR FÜČKING BUSINESS! |
Weldone ladies. You have done us proud again. Having the backs of the Eagles by defeating Algeria in the semis. Kudos to the keeper for singlehandedly dragging the team to glory. Y'all are virtuos women. Maybe a female president is what we need to restore Nigeria back to her glory days. |
My guy waiting you de wait for? Hustle make you leave naija. Naija don cast. Hustle and leave this dead country behind. |
coluka:That's assuming people don't also die in auto accidents. It's better to promote safe riding and driving than discouraging people from doing what they really want. Even pedestrians get killed while walking along the road. Risk only exists when you don't know what you're doing. |
We ride bicycles instead. Go green, save the planet, stay fit, avoid traffic. Ride a bicycle to work and everywhere else.
