Jackanda1:Tell you all you need to know about that silly religion called Islam. In fact, it's not a religion anymore, Islam is nothing but a death cult created by a blood thirsty paedophile called Mohammed. Christianity is garbage, but it's already a million times better than Islam because of its less violent stance. @OP, there are many atheists in Islam as there are in Christianity. The difference is atheist Muslims are less vocal than we their Christian counterparts.

Kobojunkie:The link isn't working. I would have loved to read that. Religion is one of the biggest chains holding Africa back. It's such a pity. OP my advise to you is to stop sending her money for a while. Buy her the clothes or any other provisions she needs directly but don't give her cash. She has clearly been brainwashed by her pastors.

Propaganda everywhere. Nigerians did not vote Tinubu. |
A military parade for a gloriously fruitless journey that flattered to deceive. Yet another waste of taxpayers money on a purely ceremonious exercise at a time where the country is supposedly broke. Nigeria is really in the hands of her enemies. Anyways, check my signature. |
That the son of a carpenter became a zombie to absolve humans of their crimes. And that a paedophile prophet in the desert went to the moon using a horse with wings and split the moon in half. |
Many really doubted this man because of his dances and free-spirited nature but so far he has hit the ground running. Never judge a book by its cover. |

I smell inorganic likes from the OP but it's probably just me. |
Theists often claim we atheists are "angry" with god. We're not! I'm not more angry with god than you are about Vishnu or Shiva, Poseidon, Thor/all the other 4000+ gods you don't believe in or any other fantasy figure like Voldemort or Sauron. But if I believed in god I would still be absolutely furious about some of the things he does. Like bringing that earthquake to Syria and Turkey and causing the death and suffering to millions of people! At least he could have the decency to save the children from being trapped for days in fear and pain waiting for a rescue that never made it until it was too late. If a loving god could save them - it would! It's just one more obvious proof the illusion of a loving god is false. The thought that it actually should demand us to not only believe, but believe in its loving character is insane. How do you feel?

I found a QnA on a religion chat which was really interesting. Question: "I grew up in an independent fundamental baptist church. If you are unfamiliar, think the Duggar family. I grew up being taught that questioning any of our beliefs was a no no. When I actually read the Bible logically and literally I decided there is no way morally for me to follow this angry, wrathful god who enjoys having his ego stroked. If in fact he is real. How after reading your Bible can you still want to give your whole life to him? Also why is it he is so available to most Christians but after years of my souls searching and crying for him, where is he? I’ve not heard back. So then, is he real or man made?" Answer "I would say most christians believe out of fear. Fear of hell, punishment, and shunning of their family. To protect themselves from this fear, they rationalize why it's ok for God to do things that nobody else should ever do. "He created us therefore he can do whatever he wants to us." If Jesus and Yahweh were real (they're demonstrably not), then how is it your fault if they refuse to speak to you or show that they're real? I realized that even if they were real, i can't respect them. I was told if i called out to Jesus, he would answer and that Yahweh was omnipresent. So either they ignored me, or was watching in the cuck tent, while i was being raped. I cried for them to intervene, and they stayed silent. So even if they were real, they'd have to beg me to do anything but draw a sword on them. Just like they let that Duggar dude molest his sisters and his Dad buried it to protect him. Either Jesus and God are immoral af or they don't exist."

As an atheist I commit the number of crimes that I want and that is ZERO. I commit the number of murders that I want which is ZERO. I rape as much I want and that is ZERO. Are Christians really saying that the only thing keeping them from committing atrocities and killing people is because an old book written by cattle rearers says so? That is scary. I am an atheist who takes no moral instructions from evil and ignorant books but still is kind to as many people as possible because I have sympathy for my fellow human beings. I understand that a society devoid of crime benefits me and everyone else therefore I won't commit crimes. I don't need a useless buybull or kooran to tell me that. If you can't understand this as a religious person, please keep believing but understand that you need help.

According to most religions, their god will punish you most severely if you choose the wrong god or the wrong religion. The exception, of course, is atheism. If you're an atheist, you don't worry about punishments by fictional gods. Theists do not believe in 99% of the gods that mankind invented and claims are real. An atheist just takes that doubt and disbelief one god further. So that's my advice. There's no way of knowing which is the right one, so your best plan is to ignore the lot of them.

Religious Brainwashing Programs! One of the most extensive, successful, systematic brainwashing programs on the planet! These religions take their smallest, most impressionable children, pack them into “Sunday School”… brainwashing begins here. It is so successful that grownup Christians actually believe that snakes talk, Muslims actually believe that horses can fly to heaven, and the Jews actually believe that Taking a chicken and swinging it by the neck above your head will transfer your sins into the chicken! Brainwashing works… making people really stupid for 2000 years!

Need to bring this great thread back to religion front page. Particularly on a daily basis. I'll try to post stuff once in a while to keep it relevant. |
sonmvayina:That is what happens when people just believe a story without even verifying its authenticity. I'm sure if it was a daughter the Bible said god had, these Christians would have swallowed it hook line and sinker without questioning as well and defending it with their lives. That is one of the evils of religion, it teaches people to accept stories without supporting evidence or even assessing the story from a critical perspective. Religion is a cog in the wheel of the progress of mankind. It must die.

No, DO NOT stop arguing with atheists. The ability to engage in debate is a sign of a sound mind who is confident about his beliefs. If you're convinced that what you believe is true, there is no reason to shy away from civil discourse about your belief. Jesus himself (as recorded by the Buybull) took on Pharisees and Sadducess many times. It's all part of the brainwashing, indoctrination tactics and caging your mind to a single and flawed worldview when these charlatans ask you to run away from people who think differently from you. If you are sure that your belief can stand up to scrutiny, argue along all day. Civil debate and learning from them is what moves societies forward. By all means argue using facts. Study and argue to show thyself approved.

Well where do I start from? 1. Is it discovering the 100+ contradictions in the Bible? https://www.answering-christianity.com/101_bible_contradictions.htm https://www.ocf.berkeley.edu/~wwu/YaBBAttachments/101_Contradictions_In_The_Bible.pdf 2. Or the fact that gods supposed holy book approves of slavery? https://www.learnreligions.com/the-bible-race-and-slavery-3893539 3. Or the fact that gods supposed word was chosen by humans. YES! human beings wrote and selected the books of the Bible that we know today. The scriptures are more than just 66 books. https://pennbookcenter.com/how-many-books-were-removed-from-the-bible/ Is it realising how the concept of heaven and hell is immoral and only depicts a largely unintelligent or incompetent god? Or realising that no evidence has been provided for god till date? And it is actually unreasonable to believe in the Abrahamic god if you think about it critically? I can't say which one did it for me. My deconversion was mostly gradual.

Maynman:Yeah I could barely make sense of whatever he wrote there. |
Theism Pronunciation IPA: /ˈθiɪzəm/ Noun Belief in the existence of at least one deity. (narrowly) Belief in the existence of a personal creator god, goddess, gods and/or goddesses present and active in the governance and organization of the world and the universe. The God may be known by or through revelation. ▼ show Atheism Pronunciation IPA: /ˈeɪθiɪzəm/ Noun atheism (uncountable) (broadly) Rejection of belief that any deities exist (with or without a belief that no deities exist). (very broadly) Absence of belief that any deities exist (including absence of the concept of deities). (historical) Absence of belief in a particular deity, pantheon, or religious doctrine (notwithstanding belief in other deities). Deists are by definition theists. Atheists do not believe in a god at all. How can any reasonable person conclude that these two beliefs are even remotely similar? |
Workch:Like I said, there are gods that can be demonstrated to not exist based on logical inconsistencies. But broadly speaking, I would agree. "Based on available evidence" is a valid caveat. |
Workch:Correct. But you have completely gone off the rails here my friend. I am neutral because: "There is no current evidence for or against god" IS DIFFERENT FROM "I am neutral because it is impossible to provide evidence for or against god." The latter is your initial position. Kindly stay on it and don't deflect to the former. And FYI, there are gods that can be shown to not exist as a result of logical contradictions. |
Workch:I know how time travel works. You're making this assumption based on our current understanding of science. A human living before planes were invented would also give you the mathematical impossibility of why a Metal couldn't possibly be suspended in air using density equations. Like I said, all that's required is a breakthrough in science and time travel in any manner could be possible. It's all about keeping an open mind. Skepticism does not teach close mindedness. And the fact that it is possible for evidence for god to be provided does nothing to invalidate the claim of an atheist. An atheist, quite simply, suspends belief until evidence is provided. So, the fact that evidence for god has not been provided (yet) very well justifies the position of the atheist. As usual, all your claims of something being impossible doesn't mean they actually are. You seem to be confusing "improbable" with "impossible." Please look into the difference of these two terms. |
Workch:Just because you think something is impossible doesn't mean it actually is. Skepticism teaches never to be 100% certain about anything. 100 years ago the humans of the time would have said it was "practically impossible" to suspend a 5000kg piece of metal in the air. Today, we have airplanes. Even the idea of smartphones would have been totally impossible to humans living as early as 30 years ago. Today we have chatGPT. It is self-absorbed to claim that just because evidence of a creator hasn't been provided now it never will. What you can do is argue for god being unlikely or why theists haven't provided evidence despite the time that they have had to do so. But it is ignorant to claim it is impossible to provide evidence for a god. Same with time travel, as science continues to discover new things and make bigger breakthroughs, who knows what is possible in the next 20 or 30 years talk less of 100 or 500 years. Agnosticism is a very valid position. I do agree with you on some level that we can never be too sure of anything and hard theists (that claim there is a god) and hard atheists (that claim there is no god) have the burden of proof. But in the same vein, if you're truly trying to be as skeptical as possible, you cannot claim that it is impossible to prove god or in fact prove any other thing. |
Workch:You're committing what is known as the black Swan fallacy. How did you come to the conclusion that no evidence can be provided for god? Just because we see black swans everyday since history began and we haven't seen any white swans in Africa does not mean whute swans don't exist. There are white swans in Europe and Australia. In the same way:. Just because there hasn't been any evidence for god to-date does not mean it is impossible to provide such evidence. If you claim this is truly the case you would have to demonstrate that with evidence. The rational conclusion is to withhold belief until evidence is provided, correct. But it's equally irrational to claim no such evidence can ever be produced without backing it up. |
Workch:Agnosticism has nothing to do with belief, as it is a knowledge claim. And in my view, when it comes to belief there are two choices. You either believe or you don't. Or at least you lean towards one side than the other. There's no in between. That's why like the picture says, you might have a Gnostic atheist or an Agnostic atheist. Both are atheists, they don't believe in god but the confidence levels differ greatly. Im afraid what you call pure Agnosticism (without the theist/atheist Qualifier) considering the god belief does not exist. As you either believe in God or you don't. |
jaephoenix:I don't find them mutually exclusive. Atheism is a belief claim. A - theism = Absence of belief in god. (A)Gnosticism relates more with knowledge and confidence levels. And since knowledge is a subset of belief both can co-exist. So we can have an Agnostic atheist or a Gnostic theist.

advocatejare:Mike Bamiloye thinks he can decide who enters heaven or not. The man is evidence that stupid people also grow Old.

Mumu man. He probably ate goats many times last year as a delicacy but where he draws the line is when other people use the term as a sarcastic acronym. Religion dulls the brain. Run from it.

When will there disenfranchisement of voters by INEC be addressed? First they discouraged new voters by refusing to extend the registration deadline. Now there are reports that many people who registered online or applied for replacement of cards on the INEC website were not given their cards as they were not processed. I hope INEC is not compromised. |
NSNO:A simple Google search proves you wrong.
|
faceLAGOS:Nice one. Keep asking those questions. |
knowingChrist:I find this hard to believe. The Bible says god did not want man to be alone that's why he created a woman. The institution of marriage is well advocated for many times in the bible. Particularly in the Old testament. And so is child bearing. "Go into the world and multiply." Have you actually read the bible? |
