This is an old video jor. Seen it before. |
TheGiftedOne:why did you open the thread? You wanted to see videos of brazen conduct? |
ijewejones:lol. Separating oneself makes one an animal? Yeah, the right thing is to do stuff because everyone else is doing it. Typical sheeple mentality. No wonder you lot are religious - everyone else is and it's less stressful when you don't need to think for yourself but just follow 'tradition'. Enjoy your tradition, man. |
Hmmm..... Like King James did so they can be separate from the Roman Catholic church. |
ijewejones:do I look like your Santa that rides on magical reindeers delivering packages? I don't have a bag of jobs waiting for Christmas to be delivered. There's nothing special about today that I'd have to do something to 'not celebrate' it. Plus I don't impose anything on anyone. Celebrate what you wish. Just don't deny 'facts' about its origins and customs or act like those people who recognize those facts are being deceptive. |
Minjim:not everyone can handle pressure. I don't give a damn what you think of me when I say no, but the next person might. Same way not everyone can stand being turned down. There's plenty space under the sky for us all. If you want people to be comfortable saying no, don't make their 'no' seem an offence. Humans are creatures of the herd, and only a few dare to walk away from the herd. There would always be those who would say 'yes' just so you don't get offended. If you let them know you wouldn't be offended regardless of their answer, they would be free to be themselves and 'let their no be no'. |
Didn't read the post, but congrats! I hope it inspires others to never give up. |
bestabigaelever:lol. Yeah. We are pretty shortsighted in this part of the world. Europe used to be like that too (even burning people on suspicion of witchcraft), so there's hope for Africa. |
ijewejones:you don't sound very smart. Either that you you are blissfully ignorant as to what 'observing' a day/occassion means. Rape is not the same as world rape day. Also the fact that such a day exists and you breathe on that day doesn't mean you observed it. I mentioned that so you'd see how silly it is to say one is a partaker by simply knowing something happens. If you observe muslim festivals too along side your Christmas, that's your business and between you and whoever you worship. After all, Christmas was borrowed in the first place. I don't observe any of your religious festivals. They are meaningless feel-good occasions that try to mask the fact that religion is the number one tool of deceit and oppression. |
It's because everyone is pressured to do stuff they really don't want to. You know how many times I reject gifts and get weird looks? Some get upset that others didn't eat their food. Why would you get angry someone (especially someone you haven't really been close to) doesn't want to eat your food? Na by force? Abi you put something? For someone else who cares deeply what others think of them, it's just easier to take it (to please the giver) and throw it away (because of fear or whatever). It's the same culture that makes it a taboo to reject gifts that also raised people to fear the unknown. Stop pressuring people to take your gifts and this would happen less. |
ijewejones:knowing about something makes you a partaker? Are you a partaker in theft, rape and murder? Unless you want to deny knowledge that these things happen. Someone like the apostle Paul (and all Christians in his time) didn't know about Christmas because the pagan festival wasn't adopted yet. Religious folks are much more interested in uniformity and appearances than they are in acknowledging truth. That's sad. |
bestabigaelever:as in, this is one of the big problems with law enforcement in this country. They look at the wrong things and the real criminals usually slip by unnoticed while they are harassing someone for looking different. |
To be fair, it's not just the police. It's a Nigerian thing to prejudge based on appearance. Most of us Nigerians are guilty of it mostly because of religion and tradition. We look at people and immediately assume they are good or bad based on their looks. The police simply have guns and authority backed by the law. Many Nigerians complaining would also harass other Nigerians if they had the guns and authority. |
Hairyrapunzel:I'm not deputy Jesus. I just don't like the hypocrisy in religion. You have borrowed a lot from other religions but are trying to pretend the reason you have christmas trees and easter eggs and santa is because you love Jesus. Be honest enough to acknowledge the roots of your beloved festival. Don't condemn the religions you borrowed it from while stylishly celebrating their festivals with another name. |
Hairyrapunzel:you think you aren't a pagan ![]() You are likely a pagan to the next person that doesn't worship the same god as you, even if one religion is really no different from the next. The muslims would happily call you 'infidel'. |
ijewejones:same way you are 'usurping' the opportunity provided by the pagan festival to achieve your aim of merriment but pretending it's about Jesus? If offices are locked because of security reasons in the area (for example), we'd still all stay at home. It's not a 'dividend' in anyway, as I'm not even one who hates my work and is looking for opportunities not go. I work from home sometimes, and today is no different from yesterday or the day before. It's just more inconvenient. |
Hairyrapunzel:no idea what the emboldened crap means. Someone that does not believe in magical stuff? How does this validate Christmas trees and Santa? Does this mean you believe Santa exists, or you don't think it's a big deal that the Bible denounces magic? Enjoy your celebration man. It's pagan, own it if you like it. No one is beating you up. |
ijewejones:okay, staying at home on public holidays mean you enjoy Muslim festivals too? That's quite a silly take. So for employed workers, they should go to the locked offices because they don't celebrate Christmas? |
ijewejones:there are holidays for muslim celebrations too, and you stay at home. What's your point? |
Hairyrapunzel:just say you need a reason to merry, and stop pretending it's actually about Jesus. Jesus lived 33 full years and some months. He had 33 opportunities to celebrate his birthday. Did he celebrate any? If not, why not? You think birth day celebrations didn't exist then? Or you think the Bible writers remembered to write about another person's wedding (at Cana) but forgot to mention even one of Jesus' birthday celebrations? If Christmas was truly about Jesus, how come we have pagan stuff like Christmas trees, or magical characters like Santa Claus (as the official face of Christmas). Christianizing it (from birthday of the Sun god to that of the son of God) is about the same as when those Israelites made a golden calf and then declared that they would celebrate a festival to God (Yahweh/Jehovah). God was not deceived by the naming. |
ijewejones:which dividends? The inflated prices during that period? Increased crime? Terrible vehicular and pedestrian traffic congestion in the days leading to the holidays? |
This is how they build a sense of entitlement in these kids. Tell them that they are entitled to gifts this period and they dare to gang up on someone for not giving them gifts. |
Katier00:1) to manipulate him, because hormones mean men want sex more frequently. Whoever wants it more is at the mercy of the one who wants it less. 2) she's probably cheating. |
midnighter:this is how Nigerians (across generations) have been conditioned to accept and even idolize suffering. I don't know who did this to you but you don't need to pass through avoidable pain/stress before you can enjoy life. |
Oga, you are being manipulated. There's a huge chance she's cheating on you and needs you to bring more money to sponsor her cheating ways. Have you ever seen anyone kissing an ATM? It's only good enough for the money. You can try to gather solid (bullshitt-proof) evidence of this cheating and then confront her, or you can beat her at her game. If the latter, lock your own shop. Engross yourself in activities you enjoy and don't even look at her in any sexual way. Treat her like a room mate and limit the money you spend (if it's not directly for the family). Bad part about this is, you might actually stop being interested in sex with her. She would be the one trying to find out why you don't touch her anymore. If she's cheating, she's also going to immediately suspect you of cheating (because like minds). If she asks, tell her you cannot be begging for sex, and that if you have to, it's meaningless. It doesn't mean you don't like sex any more, you have simply lost interest in having it with her because what should be enjoyable is now stressful. You have to be blunt yet gentle for this to work. Don't let any woman (even your wife) turn you to her slave. |
Tiger2020:oh lord ![]() |
ngwababe:in my opinion, the thread isn't out to lay all the blame on the women, but to remind some to quit playing the victim card and realize they shouldn't expect the man who ticks all her boxes to not want a woman who ticks all his boxes too. That's fair enough. |
ngwababe:two months might even be enough for people to see deal breakers in partners or potential partners and take a walk. Some others take much longer. Some keep hoping things would change until they realize it would never, mostly because too many persons pretend to be what they are not. It's not really in our place to decide when a person should decide to take a walk, or what constitutes a waste of time in another person's relationship. Nothing prevents the lady whose time is being 'wasted' from walking away early on, seeing as her partner wants someone she isn't. Also we don't accuse a lady of wasting the guy's time when she wakes up (after lots of investment in her education or career) and decides he is no longer good enough for her. Let's keep the same energy please. |
ngwababe:Here's your example. Had to go dig for the thread. https://www.nairaland.com/4835411/sent-n500k-fiancee-open-shop Aunty was sponsored to a catering school and given half a million to open a shop. She spent it on 'family issues' instead. Just knowing what you want is not enough. You also have to know what traits she has that fall under the umbrella of 'what you want'. That only comes from interaction and observation. In other words, you can't 'find your type' by watching from afar. Traits like financial irresponsibility aren't written on the forehead, so you still have to spend some time with that burdensome partner before realizing it's hopeless to try to help them develop themselves or their careers. That's why I totally understand when people choose to walk away from relationships they've spent some time in. Outsiders can scream 'you should have carried her/him along' all they want, as if they have a clue. |
Esseite:please don't be stupid. People have their tastes in fashion and you can't force someone to wear what they don't like wearing just so they can be regarded as 'African' The Nigerian fashion industry should learn to accommodate these different tastes, and produce quality clothes that are as good as or better than those imported. |
ngwababe:no one likes a burden. If she prefers to fold her arms and be carried along without making an effort to walk with him, he'd likely drop the burden at some point, especially when he realizes he deserves better. A relationship isn't a charity. |
Ginaz:this one is so pained. I hope you rant with this same energy when ladies are sponsored by their partners to school and on graduating, decide he isn't good enough for them anymore. If there's any gender exploiting the other, it's the female exploiting the male and still playing the victim when things don't turn out the way their manipulative ass expects. |
