Bandely FC is back! Speaking to the press this midnight, the spokesperson of Bandely FC, Mr. Ketu-Ojota Mile12, said the club is sorry for not been able to participate in the competition last season. In his words “it is lugubrious that Bandely FC missed out last year's edition of the competition, but we are looking to repay our fans for the supports and faith which they have shown the club.” Speaking lengthily he reiterated the club's goal of achieving success. “We cannot deny the fact Bandely FC is a big club and that a big club is expected to achieve big. On this note, we're promising the footballing and managerial community especially everyone affiliated to the club in one way or the other that we are going to give 101% to achieve our goals. Speaking further, he described Ichie Masterpiece as an experienced manager. "Ichie is an household name, an experienced manager and a tactical guru who has coached teams like Tahiti and American Samoa to glory! He also reminded the fans of the availability of season tickets, that many more is still up for sale and the fans should continue to show their supports for the club by purchasing the tickets and thus becoming season ticket holders. On a lighter note, he added that the club will look for every possible means to win, even if it means hacking into other managers' 'game plan'. Adamu Mohammed - BBC (Busy Body Corporation) News. |

As fresh crisis surrounding the health of the First Lady Mrs. Patience Jonathan brews, the presidency has fired her spokesman, Mr. Ayo Osinlu. The news is contained in a press release issued by the president’s Special Assistant on the Media, Dr. Reuben Abati. Sahara-reporters sources say that the decision to fire Mr. Osinlu was taken by the First Lady from her hospital bed in Europe. Mrs. Patience Jonathan was mad at the inability of Mr. Osinlu to provide a foolproof decoy of a story to distract the media from her current medical surgeon abroad. Mr. Osinlu was roundly criticized for the way he handled the news about the whereabouts of the First Lady last year. During the period, Mr. Osinlu told journalists that the First Lady went to Germany on vacation but Mrs. Jonathan later confirmed the story published by Saharareporters that she was hospitalized in Germany for weeks. Our sources in Abuja said that the presidency felt that Mr. Osinlu had lost credibility with the media establishment and that the First Lady needed a heavy hitter the way the president recruited Dr. Doyin Okupe to strengthen his media team that was once in disarray. All efforts by Saharareporters to reach Mr. Osinlu by phone and text failed. In the press release, the presidency named Rudolf Okonkwo as the new spokesman of the wife of the President. “Mr. Okonkwo,” the release says, “has a good understanding of social media and the internet world and will use those skills to counter the barrage of lies being peddled by some disgruntled Nigerians on the web about the person of our First Lady.” Until his new appointment Mr. Okonkwo was a columnist for Saharareporters.com and the host of Dr. Damages Show. His satirical show routinely makes fun of the First Lady as well as mine President Jonathan’s utterances to create an unflattering portrayal of the president. Since the announcement all efforts to reach Mr. Okonkwo by phone and text has failed. Saharareporters cannot ascertain his whereabouts at press time. A friend of Mr. Okonkwo told Saharareporters.com that he was not surprised at Mr. Okonkwo’s acceptance of this position in a government he had roundly condemned. “The man is as poor as a church rat and I knew it was a matter of time before he jumped ship,” he said. “He is following the lead of the likes of Reuben Abati and Femi Fani-Kayode. They are all shameless hypocrites.” The move to appoint Mr. Okonkwo as Mrs. Jonathan’s spokesman is seen by some Aso Rock observers as “a coup” of some sort as one of voices critical of Jonathan’s administration will effectively be silenced. Speaking to our correspondent, an Abuja based editor who pleaded anonymity said that he doubted if this appointment would work. “Rudolf Okonkwo was at one time a promising journalist,” he said. “But right now, for all intents and purposes, he is just a clown. You don’t use a clown to defend another clown.” The Abuja editor went on to say, “I hope this is just an April Fools’ joke.” mobile.saharareporters.com/news-page/first-lady-patience-jonathan-fires-her-spokesman-appoints-us-based-satirist-media-aide |

The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Mrs Ibukun Odusote yesterday said the Federal Government is working on providing 10 million mobile phones to farmers by the end of March. She said the handsets were produced in China and US for distribution to farmers. Adding, Odusote said the government would spend between N40 billion and N60 billion on acquisition of the handsets. The handsets will be produced specifically for rural farmers to enhance communication between government and farmers on issues bothering on agriculture. “Beneficiaries would be women and youths in rural areas,” she said. The Permanent Secretary disclosed this during a sensitisation visits to Igan – Ipabi Community in Ijebu North East Local Government Area of Ogun State. Explaining further, she said the handsets will be equipped with solar powered components to supplement as chargers in the case of power failure. Mrs Odusote said, “We are talking about 10million handsets, each handset would be costing, may be N6000 or N4000 because it is in large number. We are not going to buy in pieces like that. We will buy directly from the manufacturing companies. We have agreement with some organisations in China and some in the United States; they are going to provide all these handsets for us because they are also interested in investing in the Agricultural sector in Nigeria. Therefore, you have the idea and estimate of the cost. “And I tell you that the money is available, it’s on ground. We are looking at the first quarter of this year to roll – out the phones and by the end of the first quarter, we are done and they will start hearing about out roll – out.” “The handsets will be the tools with which to communicate with the farmers in the rural areas, deep deep into the interiors so that we will be able to communicate with them even in the hinterlands.” She concluded by saying that the government was dedicated and committed towards promoting agriculture in the country, create jobs in the sector through the provision of fertilisers, seedlings and enabling accessibility to those facilities. http://businessnews.com.ng/2013/01/03/fg-to-provide-10-million-mobile-phones-worth-n60b-to-rural-farmers/?wt=3 |
