1) Know your Boss: Office politics is no longer news. During recession, heads of departments usually submit names of people who they feel can't be part of the firm again. And in most cases, competence is not called into play. Most times, it is a question of "Who does Oga like". So I suggest you know what makes your boss happy, if producing results is the way, Do It!!
If eye service is the way, Do It!!
If Buying him drink during weekends is the way, Do It!!.. Just know the way to his heart...

2) Act More, Say Less: Stealing of Ideas didn't start today. The more you think you contribute verbally to every motion raised, the more someone is stealing your ideas, implementing it and getting credits for it. All you end up doing is Ranting in your corner office and explaining to anybody to cares to listen. When it is time for redundancy, nobody remembers the idea bringer rather the implementer.

3) Always Volunteer: " Who will help draw up a proposal?", "Who will fill in the void of the secretary in this meeting?", "Who can escort the driver to deliver the goods to ....". As much as time allows you, Keep saying " I can".. I can't guarantee you promotion, but I guarantee you that your position is safe. I remember doubling as a corporate Marketer and Retail sales Associate.. the end product was a clear promotion. You can also do so!!

4) Don't Just do your Job: Almost same as No 3, But this time around, never wait for any superior to ask first. I remember an instructor in an ICT firm where he earns about 30k monthly. Dude was diligent in his Job, not only that, but ended up referring a record sum of 10 students personally to train in the institute... He was not only Recognized, but the sales Marketer application was sacked, and he was given a double portfolio, with a handsome pay of above 100k... What else are you waiting for??.

5) Don't Just Try, Produce Results: Working with Whites made me realize they don't appreciate "I tried".
it always ends with... " We appreciate your effort, but we need someone to get us the results".
If you are a result getter, believe you me, even if everyone is being sacked, you will always be the one they rely on...
Just like C. Ronaldo, they beg you... " Please go out there and get us the results we need"

We only need to find out what exactly can do that and the answer lies in herbs! There are so many plants with positive health effects that humans have not discovered. Now that you've mentioned it, I'd do some research and post a thread on how to contain cancer as well as possible herbal suggestions for scientific research purposes.

Reminds me of an incident on Thompson Road in Ikoyi just before British Council, there was this convoy of policemen who left their lane and faced oncoming traffic.

Unfortunately for them, the convoy of the British High Commissioner was what they faced. Come and see uniformed begging. They were prostrating on the road as the HC's convoy refused to let them go.

Another time in Opebi. I was in a cab when these cops stopped me. They asked of my occupation and I told them I'm a lawyer. They asked of my ID and I asked if I'm under suspicion of any offence. They said I was rude. They now insisted on going through my phone. I told them that if anyone went through my phone, that would be the last day such person would wear the police uniform.

What I did was to call one of my dad's friends who was a DIG at that time. I told the leader to speak to him. Once he heard the name, the man started sweating and stammering. I just collected my phone and walked away. I told them I was going to work their transfers to the NE.

Most of these cops are illiterates and they're giving the few good eggs a bad name.

You know what scares me the most? The average Nigerian who does not have that kind of privilege or connection would be held hostage by those mofos. What kind of society is this for God's sake. That episode and a couple of other horror stories is one of the reasons i swore never to come to that fracking country ever again. It is absolutely reprehensible when you cannot differentiate a policeman from a tout or armed robber.

Oh sweet memories. I remember once when i was stopped by a policeman at a check point and after checking my papers, they demanded egunje. I refused. Since they saw that i was not going to comply they demanded to do a thorough check of my vehicle and person. I did not object, especially since i noticed they had been drinking and had riffles on them. After looking through my wallet, they saw a credit card and automatically labeled me a yahoo guy. They said i had to cough out 50k else i would spend the night in detention. I said no problem. I asked if it was possible to call someone to bring the money for me and they said yes. I promptly called the U.S consulate and they sent a representative down to the check point to see what was going on. Americans don't phuck around when it comes to their citizens. The funny thing was the policemen didn't understand who they were and tried to arrest them for having illegal plates. So funny. After grasping the situation, come see begging. God, i felt so good. From being called yahoo boy they started begging on their knees calling me "oga". Nigeria is so phucked.

1. Promises and more promises: You can't blame him for that. Nigerians are Naturally reta.rded and they feed of promises without asking how said promises would be fufilled. "i will give everyone five thousand Naira monthly". The natural thing any normal right thinking person should have asked is "how are you going to do it"? But no; hunger has clouded the minds of the Average Nigerian.

2. Coping with incompetent ministers: This is unavoidable. Nigeria and by extension, Nigerians, are inherently corrupt. Even if angel Gabriel is made a minister, he would conform to the Nigerian mentality.

3. Gallivanting when the country needs their president: Any normal right thinking president would do what Buhari is doing. Nigerians lack exposure and information. It is part of his job to travel extensively. What is the point of having a VP and ministers if he has to do everything by himself? Even Obama got the same grief when he was elected. He did exactly what Buhari is doing; he ignored everyone and continued with his job. That is what a good manager does.

4. Failing to protect Nigerians from rampaging herdsmen: He messed up on this point. A normal president would resign or be impeached by now but, this is Nigeria we are talking about. Normal things don't happen there.

5. Failure to diversify the economy: It is now you all have realized this. For half a century it was not a concern, Now that oil proceeds are dwindling, all of a sudden you have now seen the value. How the hell do you think that's possible in 12 months? Oh, just so you'd know, world leaders have passed a resolution to cut emissions by three percent and also to stop using crude oil based products in 50 years. What does that mean? It means in another half century, Nigeria will not exist as a country if you all don't get your acts together.

Blaming Buhari for a calamity that was caused by every single Nigerian's action and inaction is insanity at the very least. Buhari has not and did not fail; he is only being a Nigerian. If he has failed, then every single Nigerian has failed.
