Danielnino00: Junior Lokosa is actually my "brother" to some extent cus we are from the same tribe... I gave you an example of the reality on ground...The reality on ground is that players are running away from the league to make money elsewhere... What you said about "improving their performance" doesn't matter to them...
We are unearthing enough gems in the cadet teams, in academies in Nigeria and clubs in Europe because there are structures in place to discover them... The local league is simply not organised enough. Your idea won't work at this moment in time... And you think the academies are organized? How many academies have you been to? The Valencia academy for instance have about 10 world class football pitches, world class hostels and other training materials. The academies here train at primary schools with no basic training equipments like dummies. Just cones and bips. Let's continue decieving ourselves. |

dallyemmy: It is not realistic. Have you heard about Structual Adjustment Programme and its negative impact on Nigerian Economy? Do a little research on it.
Where are the professors in Economics from this country? They need to help our government to develop realistic economic policies With the teaming number of unemployed people in this country, how the hell do you expect them to pay the high tariffs ensured by the removal of these subsidies. The IMF advicing you to remove all the subsidies pay their people unemployment benefit and Covid-19 allowance in the United States. |

Yes. I subscribe to removal of fuel and electricity subsidy on the account the government pay unemployment benefit and increase the minimum wage. How do you expect an unemployed and underemployed people to cope with paying 20k a month for power and N500 for a litre of fuel without benefits. The government can't have it both ways. |

Hard to believe Tavares cost Arsenal just 7M. The guy could easily become one of the best attacking left backs in the league. I can't understand why Benefica fans were happy to let him go, some claimed he was the worst player in the club's history. This one is for Edu, take a bow sir. |

Jodera: Lol..Even if Xhaka stop the errors leading to goals and the unnecessary cards, he won't still be a world class player. I think the way we're saying this "world class" sef, we're setting the standard too low.
As for the bolded, I agree with it. Till it disappoints, let's just start with it, cos I'm sick and tired of seeing our midfield dominated and Pepe playing crap You saw Xhaka at the Euros? If that Xhaka showed up for consecutive seasons, he will be right up there in the conversation. Pepe struggles with basics, it's not a surprise really because he was training as a goalkeeper in his teen years in Paris. I don't know if New castle will be interested in getting him and Aubameyang next season. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Barryseal: 7:29am On Oct 19, 2021 |
Jodera: Lol... It's not really unpopular tho. That's what I was thinking also, instead of playing Odegaard at CM, why not play Elneny at DM then Partey at Cm?
It's even funny we're even talking about Xhaka replacement after how most of us here don't want to see him . Truly, sometimes, you don't know what you have until you lose it Xhaka is not a bad player. If he stopped those errors leading to goals and needless cards, he would have been a world class player. Partey can play as a Dm but he is not a Dm. Our midfield 3 going forward should Elneny, Partey and Odegard |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Barryseal: 6:54am On Oct 19, 2021 |
Unpopular opinion, MO Elneny should be the natural replacement for Xhaka. He never looses the ball at the base of the midfield, though he is criticized for making too many safe passes instead of playing vertically but I will take those safe passes than the Sambi and Partey like turn overs leading to goals. Recall Elneny vs Man utd at Old Trafford last season? Arteta must find a way to bring him back from cold. |

Caseless: If America bans, which is unlikely by that time, the majority of our buyers are outside America, so oil stays. The war on oil is to weaken Russia. It will continue to have value for a longer time. America takes the lead before her alies join, California state governor has already banned diesel powered lawn mowers and diesel trucks older than 2010, the AB5 law. Many countries in the EU signed the zero gas emission, UK motor industry players lobbied for an extension for extra 5 years beyond 2030. Dangote refinery came 10yrs late, the desperation to recoup his capital will drive the prize of the product to the moon. I'm sorry for Nigeria. |

Nigerians should prepare to buy fuel 700 a litre just like 1kg of gas is being sold now. Dangote will be in a rush to get his capital back before the inevitable ban on combustion engine by the USA in 2030. |
Business › Re: Rice: Thai Merchants Slam $300m Rates On Nigerian Importers by Barryseal: 12:39pm On Oct 18, 2021 |
einsteine: 2 million tonnes is 40 million bags of rice. Nigeria eats a lot of rice and there's no way we can compete with Asian countries on it. The correct thing to do is to focus on crops where we have significant advantage (Sweet potatoes, cassava, Yam, Oil Palm, Rubber, Cocoa) and use it to earn revenue rather than force ourselves to produce substandard rice at high cost while earning illegal millions for customs operators because we have placed an ineffective ban on foreign rice.
But I guess our leaders do not believe in the principle of comparative advantage. Exactly my thought. We have no comparative advantage in rice production. Rice yield per hectare here is about 3tonnes while it's stands at 9tonnes per hectare in Brazil and Thailand. We can't compete with these people on the international market, rice is not even native to us. |

seborrhic: Na so. This is the way some Nigerians kept saying no matter the price of electricity, they would pay for it as long as it's regular. When people that used to receive at least 20hours of light everyday started receiving bills of ₦30-₦50k per flat even in middle class, developed areas, they started screaming. [b] Even if electricity has to become constant and regular,it must be affordable[b] . True. Constant electricity at expensive rates is just as bad as cheap epileptic electricity... In both cases, users won't use electric appliances. |
