Nairaland GeneralRe: What Is Wrong In Asking Someone "How Was Your Night?" by BarryX(m): 7:45pm On Nov 28, 2012
aribisala0: No need to ask Professors they do not create Languages and a phrase or word exists the moment it has several subscribers. It might be annoying but it does "EXIST" and we need to we wary of the Colo Mentality that prescribes language being disseminated from the top down. Languages NEVER stand still and keep evolving.Take the word GAY for example it means something completely different today and those so called PROFESSORS had to surrender to the change.

Just as they resent What's up,What's cooking, popping etc those are all recognizable forms of greeting. Language is a servant not a Master and its users always change it to meet their needs. Even in the UK(the origin of English) there are phrases like "How am ya? How are youse(plural) which have their minority users and are VERY valid. English now no longer belongs to the English and nothing stops a population of 100 million plus charting their own course

By the way ,, How was ya last nite??
Best comment do far ... brilliance... Kudos!!!!

I expected to see pictures of the faulty conveyor belts as the subject demands not a picture of Minister of Aviation, uploading her picture does not really "convey" both the belts and the message intended! Just saying!

It calls for serious celebration my brother, Ɣøû are a hell of a lucky dude if ONLY the virginity is well spiced with some yummy character and flavoured with intelligence. Then you are home and free and according to the grammatical juggernaut, Patrick Obahiagbon" Ɣøû can be a MARRIAGE ALLELUJA BOY"
PoliticsRe: Gowon Slams Obasanjo Over Jonathan Attack by BarryX(m): 11:30am On Nov 23, 2012
We keep seeing the same scenerio play itself out with lashing and counter-lashings by our self-acclaimed leaders (of which none is mine) . The other day we saw some public bashing between OBJ and IBB , and who really saw the end of that? These people keep playing on our intelligence as if we are that dumbstruck with ignorance , BTW, we are aware they still sit together in their high çubicles and strategise on how to milk the country dry and monopolise power and policies to their advantage. So this IN-HOUSE ARRANGEMENT and OUT-HOUSE PUBLIC DISARRANGEMENT should stop. Got better ish to tidy

PoliticsRe: Delta To Get $700m Methanol Plant by BarryX(m): 12:11pm On Nov 20, 2012
This is not the first time we've heard some bogus white elephant project by the Government. Infact some few years back we heard the Delta tourism project and a touted processing plant somewhere in Koko, has anybody seen these projects seen the light of day? I don't want to sound too critical of these administration but i detest a situation where Deltans are taken for a roller-coaster ride all in the name of propaganda projects. Until i glaringly start seeing these projects up and running...THEY SHOULD GO AND BOIL IGNEOUS ROCKS for all i care. **kparanga on my mind**

PoliticsRe: Presidency Officials Accuse Jonathan Of Lying To Nigerians by BarryX(m): 2:19pm On Nov 19, 2012
The President double-mouthed stand has been there since the inception of his administration, He just keep changing colours and contradicting himself and setting up commitees upon commitees with no clear direction. The advisers should be aware of that by now, BTW they are still collecting estacodes and allowances, why don't they show themselves so that we'll know which side they're ? Bunch of Hypocrites!!

Christianity EtcRe: Do You Believe There's Curse Of The First Born by BarryX(m): 12:12pm On Nov 19, 2012
I'm kinda toeing your line because first born tend to orient differently from the other children either positively or negatively. However, the ones that do well excel from all ramifications far outweighing the siblings .NB; there are exceptions to every rule!

NYSCRe: Picture Of Corpers Being Punished By Soldiers In Camp by BarryX(m): 4:44pm On Nov 18, 2012
wiegraf: These were not drills, the excuse was someone stole a ring. Maybe the ring was even lost, not stolen. For that all of them were dragged out for this. So, did they expect the thief to crack from the pressure of kneeling down? I doubt that, s/he was probably smiling inwardly through the episode. Just like the poster above who was happy he made all his friends suffer for him because he was selfishly inconsiderate. To prove my point about encouraging silly behavior someone quotes him then calls him a 'sharp guy'. Or maybe the soldiers reasoned that this punishment will prevent future thefts? If so, kindly show me how.

Disregarding the above, the whole thing is just silly. Even if you had to do this nysc thing for whatever reasons, if you treat people like animals, they will act like animals. What have they learned from this? What is all this supposed to do for them? You're telling me those professional yes men can teach them a thing or two? Like what, saying 'yessir'? Or becoming a zombie? Or harass a whole brigade because a ring went missing? Are we at war with anyone? What exactly has the nysc accomplished that we spend the little cash we have on this exercise? Teaching you how to suffer? It's by force to suffer now? If you enjoy suffering, good for you. I don't see why those that don't are forced to participate.

No worry, I go leave una for dis folly. Make I go do something productive
The first bolded statement hit me like you are not Nigerian of which I know Ɣøû are ..I tend to understand from my Nigerian life experience that you saying we have " LITTLE CASH" is a big fat lie , money allocated to NYSC annually for the quarterly programmes cannot be equated to what 109 senators spend in a month notwithstanding the population of corp members to that . The second bolded "folly" statement makes me think you are not an Ex-Otondoh.... * First of all go down low*
NYSCRe: Picture Of Corpers Being Punished By Soldiers In Camp by BarryX(m): 4:17pm On Nov 18, 2012
elampiro: Must they be made to knee and raise their hands under the sun? The early morning wake up time at 4.30 or 5.00 am for exercise is itself drilling. The jogging, then you go for marching and return for evening games. I am a sports person, these things (exercises) were normal to me. I really enjoyed camp. But if I may ask, how does this 'punishments' or drillings help for job hunt as you suggest? As for me, I wans't made to go through this things, yet I hustled a good job. I hustled my place of primary assignment myself, got a reposting and eventually retained there- in a bank.
I sincerely doubt I meant that. But all the same, I congratulate you for hustling your PPA which of course I know is against the NYSC bye-laws and most definitely some serious lobbying or money changing hands would have influence your placement BTW , there is hope* *smiles**
NYSCRe: Picture Of Corpers Being Punished By Soldiers In Camp by BarryX(m): 3:23pm On Nov 18, 2012
elampiro: Please people should stop saying these things are normal. This is dehumanizing, and it is abnormal. It is a shame to the corp member who cannot complain about this to the coordinator and the press.

Never, never and never did I see one single person treated this way during my time. Not one, and I mean it. The soldiers are really having undue power these days and taking advantage of corp members.
It is normal now and honestly I don't see it as dehumanising as being touted because at the end of the day , the soldiers and the corp members still sit down and laugh about what transpired, I haven't really seen any para-military training or any training of such that is rosy and for people expecting to be treated like royalty because they are "graduates" is a misnomer factoring in how many unemployed graduates we have roaming around!!**Abeg let the dudes have their day for the three weeks, all should advise is doing with a moral and human face** kapish

TravelRe: Your Most Embarrassing Moment At The US Embassy, Abuja/Lagos by BarryX(m): 12:49pm On Nov 18, 2012
It depends, sour experience if you decide to play smart, better experience if you play by the rules, not ruling out the typical Nigerian complacency and the typical American disregard for anything African, frank opinion from experience
