Nigeria was born in 1914
Oil was discovered in 1956 in commercial quantity for the first time..., some of the illiterates wagging "our oil", "our region"... were even born before 1956, and have quickly forgotten that they benefited/educated immensely from groundnut/cocoa money of earlier mainstay of Nigeria economy . This is a mere sign of greed, crude, lack of civilization, ..........
Hw cud dey hv benefited frm cocoa n groundnut money wen nigeria was running a regional govt in those days? Didnt u ppl balkanise d con3 n concentrate power at d center all because oil? Well i de laf ND dey aint seen nothing yet. Let dem cari dia own cross

Anvaller: What indigenous enterprise are u talking about? I hate to argue along tribal lines but u guys are always pushing one into that direction due to ur ever arrogant, egocentric, self eulogizing mentality. Apart from 2nd hand clothing business and electronic appliances, what more do u sell out of a thousand other businesses that are in Ibadan? And u can not tell me that there are no several indigenes that do the same business that your ppl do. At least before I left Ibadan in the early/mid 2000s, the most popular and successful boutique in Dugbe which was Emerald Emporium was owned by a Yoruba guy (not sure if he is still there). U guys like to believe that u are doing those business because indigenes don't know how to do it. U never appreciate the fact that the indigenes are accomodating enough to allow u to do it without having a problem with it. Do u allow any non Ibo person to run any form of business in Onitsha?

Once again, just like someone has told u here, u ppl like to tell urselves anything and believe it. Stop deceiving ureslves. And cut down on that arrogance, I have Ibo friends but they are humble ones and they themselves do not like the typical arrogant ones, they make the Ibos look bad.
Nigerians r deceiving themselves. Only Aba n Nnewi have indigeneous technology n craftmen. Dats hw d Asian tigers emerged. All these big foreign owned companies siting in a regiön only help 2 impoverish dem d more while dey rejoice over GDP.

agbameta: Exactly what's the so called 70% goods? Consumables? Construction equipments, Farming equipments, automobiles? Just what?

1. How many people are left in the east to consume 70% goods entering Nigeria? What are they doing with it?

2. What and where are the construction activities in the east because the east is not synonymous with projects and they haven't commissioned any in a long time?

3. The buying power and population needed to consume 70% of the goods entering Nigeria is not in the east, even the meager GDP of the whole eastern region can not support 70%.

4. And this 70% figure came from where exactly? From inside ya pata or some official government data?

I know you people like to beat your hollow chest needlessly, but try pump your breaks sometimes because your proclamations gets too absurd, ridiculous, kindergarten and elementary sometimes.. grin grin
Onitsha is a veri large wholesale market and ppl kum frm ova nigeria evn niger n cameroon 2 buy goods.

omonnakoda: Lagos will end up with 5 seaports and several airports.Thank God we don't have swampy or creeks as our coastline and we have leaders with foresight. The Lagos Port has been there since 1890 and the new ones will be built by businessmen with vision Eko oo ni boje
The Ibaka seaport will be good for the SS peole while the landlocked SE will look on in envy
so d ibaka port will be more beneficial 2 smbody at Benin dan smbody at Aba?

Politics › Re: Enugu, The Pride Of The East. by basilo101:
Nightshift: Personally, no matter the type of development those who call the shots want for Enugu, the city's relatively clean and green environment must be protected.
More tree planting should be encouraged, and laws to protect old trees in the city must be enacted. Those beautiful mango trees in old Enugu ( Iva-Valley, Coal Camp areas around UNTH, GRA , etc), were painstakingly planted by lovers of green environment.
Late C C Onoh took it further by planting many palm trees around his properties at GRA.
The canopy of hills which stretches from Agwu area through Enugu, and ends at 9th Mile area of Udi, is the only such landscape in Igboland. The hill no doubt gave the city its unique name.
Udi hills did nt end at 9th mile, check ur encater map, Nsukka is sitting at d peak of udi hills, with beatiful green hills and d coldest in d eastern region followed by Obudu in cross river. I've notice our brother frm d hinterlands kw little abt d town except those dat studied in UNN, maybe because at d extreme north of igboland n because civilization came late dia bt d landscape n climate is 2nd 2 none in d eastern region, a factor, we were told, influenced d siting of d 1st indigeneous university in d then remote area. And dis construction company destroying Oliveth Hill shud be stoped, does any1 kw any NGO dat cn help?

sullivan will neva hand over 2 ekweremadu. He has made it clear dat he is handing over 2 nsk man. 2ndly Abuja politicians cnt win guber election because dey lack grassroot support outside dia enclave.
