Clinton was not the US Emperor but he did scale back welfare in collaboration with the Democrats. Tax cuts have no merit? You prefer when the top rate of income tax was 77% under Carter? What then is the explanation for the significant increase in tax receipts and the proportion of the tax burden borne by the rich as illustrated in the links I put up? i never claimed clinton was an emperor. u have to admit he didn't veto the bills that scaled back welfare. i don't see what significant tax increae u are talking about. basically the rich is getting richer and the poor is getting poorer. trickle down economics doesn't work. tax cuts have shifted the tax burden but haven't done much. http://treas.gov/press/releases/js1287.htm |
roe vs wade is here to stay, deal with it. republicans have done little to change abortion laws since the 80's |
"Minimum wages lead to higher unemployment, higher taxes lead to tax avoidance, welfarist policies encourage single parenthood and benefit scrounging,e.t.c" the democrats under bill clinton actually scaled back a few welfare programs. the idea of tax-cut boosting the economy has little to no merits. increasing minimum wages to account for inflation is realistic in my opinion. |
obama is not "completely"black, he is mixed by the way. although i am supporting hillary clinton, obama has a chance at getting the nomination since the republican party is pretty weak and fragmented right now. yes obama would lose some votes in the south, but northerners like guiliani or mitch romney won't sway that much votes in the south anyway. |
I don't think it's too early to lay a good foundation. well then wait one year into his presidency to judge the foundation his policies are laid on. |
good win 4 obama. but hillary and john edwards are loved by the liberals in new hampshire.the real winner is john edwards who spent nothing in iowa but still got those conservatives to vote 4 him. |
To early to grade yar'dua's performance. |
the economic well being of kenyans and their lives are equally important. the tourism industry is taking a big hit there. |
i don't think nigeria needs more critics, it just needs more skilled hands and better checks and balances. |
no one said it should take 200years to create a better nigeria. but there's going to be a painful transition from millitary to civillian rule. china has to experience the cultural revolution before it became what it is today(rural china besides shangai and beijing is still poor as hell). nuclear plants won't be created overnite. reorganizing NEPA to PCHN is a nice step that would take some time 2 show results. u guys are asking for exponential progress that is unrealistic. criticize the management of the nations refineries and hydrodams but please don't try comparing an unstable country like nigeria to US or Germany. those countries are over 200yr old and have gone through dark periods(the german currency once had little value) and survived. nigeria is going through growing pains. the problem i see in nigeria is people passing blame instead of taking responsibility 4 their problems. |
I also believe in past lives because we are all blobs of energy covered by flesh, and when we die the energy is transfered to another flesh, since energy can't be destroyed, (Law of Conservation of Energy). I think this phenomenon also explains why humans experience Deja Vu, new things seem familiar to us because we've experienced them before. who says human energy can't be transformed into inanimate things. |
nigeria is only 47 yr old. it's unrealistic to compare it 2 republics that are at least 100yr's old. countries like germany and the US have nuclear plans and wind power. such things are under devoplment in nigeria. time would tell. the US wasn't pretty much bankrupt at the age of 50. |
This is not to say the colonialists are perfect or flawless, but I believe the basic things of life would be guaranteed for an average Nigerian, and the impact of the oil and gas revenues would impact positively on the lives of average Nigerians. The situation whereby we only hear figures without any thing to show for it in terms of welfare would not be. what makes u think nigeria wouldn't end up like south africa or zimbabwe if it's colonization wasn't extended. hong kong is a special case and not the norm. most of the oil and gas revenue would have been transferred to the UK and not used domestically. |
it was ripe for independence due to nationalist sentiment among the indigenes and protest against british taxation. your only argument is about the transition to independence. the same problem can be seen in independence for india and other colonies. |
Well an hierachy was established with the natives at the very bottom the heirachy was created by the united kingdom. the indian servants still had minimal rights from what i've seen. hitler was both nationalistic and egotistic. |
The USA was responsible for aiding Fidel in ousting Batista and his regime with the sole intention of snatching power from Fidel after him and Che and crew would have already done their dirty job. ( sounds familiar?) actually the US aided fidel castro, socialists and liberals. fidel castro was meant to start a moderate regime and actually once visited the US. he turned on the US and jails most of his liberal allies that put him in power. |
My point is that the state of the cuban economy is directly related to the embargo that the US placed on the country. Transportation is one of the major issues affecting Cubans. Getting from point A to B is a hassle. Why? the cars there were manufactured before 1959( american cars) and since there is no way of getting equipment in, then it created a problem. ' wrong, the US embargo is only partly to blame for the fall of the cuban economy. before and after the embargo, cuba was subsidized generously by the soviet union and presently venezuala. agrarian reforms, nationalization of industries and castro chasing away the casionos and tourism affected cuba more than the embargo. |
Asians eh. . .like those from the Indian subcontinent at the turn of the century transported by the British Colonialists to oppress the natives in Africa. are u trying to say indian indentured servants opressed the natives?? |
