Oluwabengz: Hypothesis 1: Let's assume 1.9surge is constant for one month, which means an increase in price and I'd wait for 45mins to get a request.
Hypothesis 2: There's no surge constantly for a month and i dont have to wait for more than 5mins to get a trip. Which of the hypotheses do you think will benefit drivers more?
Keep in mind that hypothesis 1 will reduce cost of fuel, extend oil change intervals, reduce wear and tear of car.
You are right that some people will leave Bolt/Uber to jump public bus if there's increase in price but some of those people will still come back anytime they need that confort that e hailing gives them and they will squeeze out the money to pay for the service. Na because of card trips. I later realized that I did all cash trip last week thanks to drivers that rejects card trips. Most riders changed from card to transfer. I would prefer to do all card trips every week. Now I’m owing bolt. Mshhewwww |

Felicity001: Any driver not joining the proposed strike is selling his future and future of his generation to come to riders and the app companies because these are the once on the winning side. That’s why politicians keep manipulating us in Nigeria, no unity , some selfish and greedy drivers will snitch. I’m just observing and will see drivers that will misbehave today. Some are already against it online. Let the app coy and riders get d message. Their orientation and ways of treating drivers will change a little. |

kanuisagoat: Funny enough, I actually think the fair is fare. Public transport is ridiculously cheap in this country.
What I actually find disturbing is the 20,25% commission. Those guys driving on uber are the real mvp. For every N5000 they make, uber takes N1250. Can you imagine that.
I'm curious though, do they charge the same 25% commission outside the country? Fair enough ? How can you compare E-hailing to public transport dt uses 1984 cars packing people like sardines. You go to the front of their house wait for minutes to pick 4 people from surulere to Unilag and fare is 700. With your AC on and bags in booth. And they can still do fake transfers. You call that fair ? Yellow taxi will calculate per head and extra money for luggage, put off engine inside traffic n hot sun. Same way you said remitting 25k weekly is cheating of partners who do maintenance of car. Must driver suffer to make even ? If all the drivers can come together has 1 voice and demand that ehalling company increase their fare for the benefits of all the drivers ..
That will be great , but I know Naija people don't like to work together has 1 and sacrifice for the better goods.....
Fare increase is the only thing I support .. Any other demand apart from that the drivers are on their own ..some drivers even demanded health insurance , I think they are bitting more than they can chew on that 1 Thank you... ThatNiccur: Exactly what I was hoping to hear.
Truth is, at the end of two years or whatever time one makes the capital, the value of the car as at when capital is recouped, would be your profit.
If vehicle is in a good condition, vehicle can be resold maybe at half the price it was bought.
A very good maintenance culture should leave vehicle in top shape.
100k a month should amount to 2.4m in 24 months. You can’t make or save 100k consistently in 2yrs without stories, downtime and unforeseen circumstances. If your maintenance culture is top notch then you would have to spend a lot of money (from type of oils, to quality spare parts and gud kazeem) And you can’t flog d car like Goatkanu and pearl1910. You will reject trips to some destination cos of ur tokunbo car You will get 1* from people going to bad street cos you will drop dem b4 d road ... blocking loading. Just preparing d mind of intending investors/drivers. Cause some of dem will see 2.4m in 2yrs and will go take loan to start. |

Pearl1910: The thinking is that he has not started making profit until he has gotten d capital back, and it will take him two years to make d roughly 2m he will put into d business. I think he is trying to discourage him from spending so much to get a car he wants to use for ehailing Exactly. If I have 1.8m dt I’m not using... I will rather look into another business or be chupping 30k every week with peace of mind and praying for job or business. Before December I will get something better, rather than put it in dis hustle. 1. You will never be able to save 1.8m in 2yrs 2. You drive it urself ur life won’t remain dsame , you go lean and ur BP go high small (in Lagos ) 3. You give it on HP/rentals : stories won’t let u sleep cos of bad drivers everywhere. You car will turn to lemon in 2yrs.

It’s better to join fast finger INDRIVER though but it will be nice if all drivers can take Monday off. After all you can net 55k without stress next week. My contacts in Osun and ibadan confirmed that they received some booklets this week. He was just feeling too important because of the yeye scarcity. And was cornering the few for his cronies I believe Even when it was available everywhere, we still paid for express to get it fast with minimal stress I know it’s generally scarce according to them but some people are still getting it in two weeks, it’s sad when you pay express and then still wait for months |

ElenuParrot: One thing that I just know is that you can not know the accurate temperature of a river until you deep your leg into it. Whatever the temperature is, it affects us in different ways. The same water that you think is very cold might seem warm to me. Right now, I've not driven for about a year because I got tired of the intricacies of the job. The insults, the extortion by lastma & Co, the traffic, etc. I just got tired & the lock down made me realize how stressful and mentally draining the job had been for me. By the time the lock down was over, I was too mentally lazy to go back to the hustle. 1. Do you love driving? - Driving has to be fun & a hobby to you if you must enjoy the job. 2. Do you ha e the strength for long hour driving? 3. How well can you manage your temper. 4. How well can you handle your own PR? 5. Do you have the mental confidence to manage crisis? 6. How tolerant are you? 7. Are you sure you're physically fit?
The answer to these questions will go a long way to help you determine whether or not you're going to be able to handle the E-Hailing hustle. The truth is, anyone can survive the hustle if they are really determined to. Driving can never be anybody’s hobby in Lagos With the bad roads and bad unpredictable traffic. |

peeps4u: We were all here last year when we doubted Godfather10's Oct/Dec earning challenge, but some drivers proved it was achievable. We also recently doubted a certain earning and kanuisgoat proved he did and was achievable, pearl has also proven.
What anyone can achieve through ehailing is relative and shouldn't be generalised. One man's highest daily earning ever in ehailing is another man's average daily earning.
May God water our grounds wherever we plant our seeds. How many Godfather and Goatkanu do we have on the platform. On the scale of 1 - 100. Nobody is saying it’s not ACHIEVABLE, ALL WE ARE SAYING is that it is not SUSTAINABLE. Many have come before dem godfather and goatkanu, posting earnings and boasting upandan but where are they today. |
