benjaminiyke: Thanks @ bbdd....I really love pharmacy,it's my ambition. I will reapply again with a better financial statement. My advice is to stay off for fall 2015 and try again for fall 2016. This is so you don't have a dented record at the embassy. So when you reapply they will certainly know that there has been a change in your case since the last time. |

During my 1st interview I filled in self sponsorship while completing DS-160 form but I'm thinking of going with my SOAand my Dad's SOA this time.
Please is it advisable? Please do. |

benjaminiyke: First interview at Abuja... I just finished my first degree and my statement of result was not ready. So I filled in my Ds-160 that I was still a student. VO- why did you choose this uni? Me- this university has an excellent school of pharmacy and is well equipped with outstanding laboratory facilities and currently housing the biggest pharmaceutical lab in texas, am also interested in d undergraduate research being conducted in the school of pharmacy. Vo- who is ur sponsor? Me -my uncle,my mothers brother. his a business man. VO- show me bank statements. Me- I showed him. Vo started typing and gave me my rejection letter. 2nd interview in same abuja. VO- why do u want to study pharmacy? Me- told him it's my dream course am very passionate about this course,am interested in drugs and how they function in d human body moreover pharmacy is in line with my first degree chemistry. VO- what will u do after u complete ur studies? Me- told him I will come back after my studies and establish a very lucrative pharmaceutical Business. VO- what kind of training will u undergo after ur studies? Me- I didn't get what me meant by training,I just told him first I will become a licensed pharmacist. He nodded his head. VO- show me your transcript. Me- I showed him my statement of result cause my original degree certificate was not ready,I just graduated last year. VO- okay, everything looks good to me. VO- who's your sponsor. Me- my uncle.my mothers brother. VO- show me his bank statement. Me- I gave it to him,and he took it to the VO who interviewed me in my first attempt and when he came back he started typing very fast, after typing he told me am sorry, you just graduated, you can apply in the future. I believe just graduating is not the problem, because it shows am a serious student, he only used that as an excuse. And gave me the 214 something tells me it's my funding, yearly expense is $30,000 and my bank statement is $45,000. Pharmacy is 4 years. Any suggestions? Pls Sorry to hear about your denial. I'm a pharmacist and whenever Americans hear of Pharmacy and Medicine they think of huge loans they have to pay off in order to get their kids off to Medical / Pharmacy school, and most times students get backlogs and can't even finish when due. This is perhaps why that VO needed clarification. It's obvious that they were not convinced about your ability to pay for the really expensive pharmacy school. Sometimes its all about perception. I think you should reapply if you have a really good financial backing considering the previous denials have a link to your financial ability...so to speak. GOODLUCK |

Jahbless82: Hello Guys,
When filling financial support information submitted to the graduate school, I filled in self sponsorship.
Pls can I change it to joint sponsorship when filling DS-160 form and at the embassy? This joint sponsor thing is tricky. Go with either Dad/Mom and present the statement(If they request for it) Also, some documents are uploaded by the school on their database.er Some say the US Embassy knows who they will give visas or not based on the documents uploaded. So in order to play safe, i dont think you should contradict the financial documents you submitted to your school. However, If its a situation in which your hands are tied, You could go with a parents statement and prepare well for your interviews including succint answers to any potential gray area GOODLUCK |

ikobionu: Hi guys.. Good day. I've been following this page and i must commend everyone's effort. God bless u guys for what u do. Pls i just took my gre and i scored 150 for verbal and 148 for quant. Though i felt the quant was a piece of cake..but oh well.. I'm applying for Petroleum Engineering. Pls do u think this is a good score for admission and graduate assistantship as well? Ur opinions will be greatly appreciated. Thank u No. It's not even up to 300. It might be enough for admission but not for funding in petroleum engineering. However, you might pay first year tuition, do well in school and get funding for second year. But if you're looking for funding from first year, I'm afraid you might have to retake gre to get your quants score up. Good luck |

modelboy: the only way a stident can be rejected is when u dont convience the v/o that you are going abroad to study and that your course cant make u successful. But the main thing is having god by your side and your good. Thanks Your response is a rather simplistic answer. Visa issuance is a sum total of a lot of things. Academic credibility, financing, students record, composure and fluency during the interview, ability to state your mission without flinching, likeability, history of educational continuity in the field, no long periods of doing nothing etc. Which one Is if your course can make you successful? That's not the Vos job pls. No one can predict success. Then of course in Nigeria there's the God factor. But I'd rather not delve into that. But please let's not mislead people here with inchoate answers. |

slimmy05: I have been consoling my wife for some months now due to the non-payment of state allowance since she resumed nysc in Osun State. It was actually my idea for her to serve in Osun state considering the fact that they pay almost 97k monthly including Ondo state. She had earlier proposed to serve in Lagos which I refused, the workload and pay in lagos hospitals are not favorable. I really do not like the way they treat their colleagues who are not on thesame cadre.
She has punished me into paying her extra allowance and I really cannot cope funding my masters program and also paying her allowance.
Osun state corp members what's the way out? She should have served in ondo. They pay doctors 95. Osun is a long thing for now. The state is broke..... Indigenous Workers are on strike. Nysc staff are at the back burner. Just hope. Faint hope bro |

Hi guys.
A friend of mine was denied admission to a school for master in biomedical sciences in Bonn because they claimed he didn't have any modules in molecular biology and genetics
I'm not aware of that course being offered in Nigeria. He took several microbiology courses in school which includes genetics according to him. Please is there a way to explain to them that such a course isn't offered at undergrad level in Nigeria and perhaps reconsider their decision ?? He's feeling quite bad. |

I received an alert that my visa is ready for pickup. However, I don't have any government issued Photo ID to collect the passport at the DHL Office. Unfortunately, the INEC guys refused to give me my PVC may be it could have been useful now. I am planning to submit a copy of my appointment letter, photocopy of my passport, and a government issued certificate of state of origin. Will the above documents be accepted from me as a proof to colelct my passport and visa. bbdd and other gurus in the house I will be expecting your reply I didn't present any id at oshodi. But just go with something. Anything even if it's passport photograph. |

VISA INTERVIEW TIPS As seen from the numerous success stories..... Know what you're saying, be confident, have no red flags and sketchy history, WRITE STANDARDIZED TESTS, know why you chose the school and there's no reason you should be denied unless the people in your village are working overtime.
May we get more testimonies on this part 7 !!! |

Me: Ive been working at ***** (I work at a global professional service firm) Vo: so why masters degree now? I have a dream of consulting for the Central Bank of Nigeria some day. Vo: okay...so you are going to University of North Texas. How did you find out about the school? Me: I was looking for a school that offers masters degree in economics with concentration in the area of Economic analysis, financial economics and econometrics, so I used usnews.com and princetonreview.com to filter out schools with such emphasis. Vo: how many schools did you apply to? Me: the school is funding me as you can see on my i20 Vo: (she looked at my i20 again) so why would the school give you tuition waiver? Vo: (she typed for a while) I am going to issue you a visa....you can pick it up at the location circled... bla bla....
In all..even though she questioned me alot, she did not ask me to show her any document aside my passport, ds120 confirmation page, i20 and sevis. Prayer works....also be confident. Most people who spoke confidently got their visas approved. All the best guys and thank you all. Congrats |
