It should be refunded...thats what would be expected because at some point, it should get rejected and bounce back.

But if your bank decides they have seen awoof dollar, they might cheat you, not reject the transaction and allow it go through, then credit your account at CBN rate (sorry4 , I just couldn't help it)

My advice: do what @singapore1said and call their customer service, explaining to them the situation and have them terminate the transaction from their end before some1@ur bank decides2play a fast one

I no dey use Google rate. I use the rate as reported by my wallet. I don't use blockchain, basically because when I was signing up for the wallet, I needed some flexibility which blockchain wasn't providing.

So contrary to your assertion, my coin ain't coming from blockchain.

When I have a seller who disputes my rate, I suggest we do an aggregate (take 4-5 rates from different exchanges, add them up and arrive at an average).

@singapore: why so much lies with the govt is simply because to whom much is given, much is expected. Nigerians have not really started to query the astronomical salaries of our so called leaders, plus they were given a mandate.

Also, without govt intervention there really can't be true industrialization. Sectors like power, transport etc can't be handled without the govt coming into play.

rate may go high next week agreed ....but it wont be because those banks stop the usage of their card.. i mean they are not doing us any favour in the first place, more like milking us and i will say they are the reason why black market rate was like that in the first place

They don't have to do us any favors. Like I said, I believe it's part of their way to drive up the value of dollars...let me try to explain:

Do you know that there are people in this country and beyond who do not know that threads like this exists?

Do you know that there are those who know but can't deal with the hoops you have to jump thru to mitigate against being scammed?

Now these two groups of peeps, who number in the millions, are reliant on the bank cards, irrespective of their rates, now this group of peeps have just been rendered 'sourceless' so their only source now is the a.b.o.ki. Even you now would also resort to a.b.o.ki...somehow.

All these would be putting a huge demand on a commodity that already is scarce and largely inadequate to meet demand, so what happens? It becomes a sellers market, with buyers outbidding themselves just to make sure they grab whatever is available, hence price starts shooting up.

When it gets to a level the banks are comfortable with and they feel they have achieved their aim: to show the CBN say dem get leverage, you will see card transactions resume...my 2cents

This was what I expected the first time naira was floated months ago.

I was amazed it didn't happen (banks selling at interbank rates) and some people here laughed.

Now that its happened, its a pity it will only last a few days.

Unless something drastic is done, like CBN making a scape goat of an errant bank, I don't see 9ja banks selling@interbank rates. The mandate from CBN had always been for banks not to sell above 2% or is it 2.5% of the interbank rate. Have they not been flaunting that rule? Has anything been done about it? Gains from card rates are too enticing for them to do that and the regulatory body is all but comatose.

Now that the CBN is enforcing, they all called a bankers meeting and decided to suspend card usage...it's a cabal. 9ja banks na mafia. CBN can't force them to allow international transactions on their cards...not really (I stand corrected though)

This country de confuse me sef. My bro from Turkey just called that he can no longer his gtb naira master card.

Aside from the fact it's hard for the banks to meet demand, I think it's the cabal@work: our 9ja banks are not happy that $ is steadily but slowly crashing, so suspending usage for international transaction puts more pressure on a commodity ($) that already is scarce, thereby making it more scarce scarce drivi up the price. When this happens, you will see them resume international transactions again.
