Frankly this picture would traumatize any Nigerian born in a developed country.
It just shows how some Nigerians live on SQUALID stenchy waters.
God is very faithful, else humans shouldn't survive such conditions.
It is absolutely impossible to come to terms with how people can allow their fellow humans to live in such hellish conditions. I wasn't born in a developed country, but I am traumatised by that pic. I wept the day I mistakenly set foot in Ijora Badia, its not just the sight and dehumanising degree of penury, even the stench and the colour of the water are indescribable; I walked round the whole place in a haze of disbelief.

The pic in question is from Makoko: http://jideodukoya.com/blog/2011/09/kids-clean-club-visit-to-makoko/
This one is even worse:

This is the day many of us have waited for. I recall a heated argument here on NL some years ago, then I argued that a decentralised grid was the way to go, only for one cretin from NEPA to begin chatting shiit. Than God we are seeing fundamental changes beginning to roll in.

24/7 electricity would soon be the reality if this is carried through properly.

“There was a time during the General (Ibrahim) Babangida (retd.) era when there was a coup (Gideon Orka coup) and they said some of us were excised from Nigeria.

“So, I had to check the 1999 Constitution again to be sure that Yobe and Borno were still parts of Nigeria.

“This action by the CBN governor is an act of terrorism; in fact, he is a terrorist. Sanusi is causing confusion in this country.

Have I told you I am offended? I am simply curing id!ots.
Something on another thread made me think about a lot of the absurd things one comes across as a result of ignorance in Nigeria and this creek thing from Lagosians stuck out like a sore thumb.

But one that limits your options by boxing yourself into different situations. Its like "you are either
with me or against me". It doesn't always work like that.
Nobody that "cares enough" about the future of Nigeria would deny the necessity for change. But a SNC
will not solve those issues. You can go along and organize one but in the future more problems would arise
as it often does in any nation, will you organize another SNC?
There is no limit to the fight for freedom. Those who wear the shoe know where it pinches (you might understand if you have ever turned on the tap only for oil to come out with a foul smell).

As for organising another SNC, when the Americans wrote their first constitution, it wasn't good enough so they wrote another just 6 years later (after 27 amendments).
It is never enough until you've got it right. Look where trying again has got the US.

Nope, I really believe giving more power to the states will make this country better. Its not the
case right now. Corruption is a huge problem and its not only in Nigeria. The only way to get
rid of it is by reducing of the Fg. All of this can be done trough congress. Now if you believe in a
SNC , go ahead an do one, but it will fails. You already have different factions organizing, setting
up committees to protect their interests as if it was a war.
Let everybody prepare for war then, because those who bear the cross of funding the contraption can take it no more.

There's nothing bad in loving your creeks and being aasociated with them. N. Deltans love creeks, enjoy your creeks. When you mention creeks, Lagos doesn't come to mind even though Lag has streams too.
Thanks dude, I love my origins. My real grouse is with those who for some reason cannot bring themselves to admit the obvious, as is apparent with the likes of Dudu negro, Osiris.212, Mojibola, Standing5 etc (many false claimants with inferiority complexes who might not even know the route to Lagos).
A Lagosian pointing a derogatory finger at anyone else as coming from the creeks, is as ridiculous and foolish as a black labelling another black man with racist terms used by whites. Lagos is as riverine, creek filled and swamp soaked as the Niger Delta.

In 51 years, things haven't been bad for the Ilajes in Delta state. Why would they get bad in the 52nd or 53rd?
Dude, they will always live decent lives and their kin from Ondo will always be welcome.

NB; the ones in Delta state so totally do not have plastic bags to clear, neither are they forced to live in such squalor. Same Ilaje people.

Stop playing dumb, Beaf. Lagos does have creeks but Native Lagosians don't feel at home in the creeks, unlike some natives of ND. Stop singling out Lagosians, other Nigerians also think ND when creeks are mentioned.
First of all, thanks for admitting the bolded.
Secondly, I am not singling out Lagosians; few other parts of Nigeria are swampland and many Lagosians do not even know that they are creek and swamp dwellers as much or even more than the average ND person (at this point, refer to the reason for the article). yet, it is quite obvious that the entire Lagos is swampland that is crisscrossed with creek upon creek.
Lastly, you obviously have no knowledge of who the native Lagosians are; otherwise you would understand that places like Iddo, Isale Eko etc are embedded in creeks and swamps. Maybe the people of swampy Ikorodu ain't native Lagosians too abi?

That is an Ilaje village. Ok?
It is visual evidence to prove that they are better off in Delta state. The Ilaje communities in Delta state live decent and dignified lives. Nobody is forced to live like a pig.

This thread is for Lagosians not for your low self esteemed pretender type from zoo's and caves in unknown places who want to pop out of tree branches to claim Lagos.
I don't go around claiming I'm from New York or Sokoto, its a useful trick for you to learn.

The simple question is: does Lagos have creeks and swamps? I wonder why that is so difficult for the ignorant to give an honest answer to.

Fantastic Idea smiley smiley smiley smiley smiley cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy they are even part of delta already

don't complain if an Ilaje man is employed in the oil sector, then you shout yoruba this yoruba that.

Also take Aworis to with you pls smiley
An Ilaje person is not treated as Yoruba. In the whole of Southern Nigeria, nobody lives as in the pic below, aside from the Ilaje's in Ondo and lagos; certainly, nobody lives like that in Delta state. The Ilaje's are simply used as 13% derivation donkeys.

https://a1.ec-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/11/a2f1b259f81ba040882778fb2cf96a11/l.jpg

How the phuck can fellow humans be allowed to live like that, especially when their lands bear oil?
There is no reason for them not to join Delta state hwre their fellow Ilaje's are treated quite well. cool

Don't mind the clown. We even want to sieze the Ilaje and Ijaw people from Ondo state where they are grossly maltreated; in Ondo state, the Ilaje's and Ijaws are treated like water carriers who are just 13% oil derivation cattle. They will join the well treated brethren in Delta state.
We want boundary adjustment instead of state creation.

Ilaje's must move to Delta state. cool

Dude that was the election and it is over, is it not about time you move on ?

Moreover both parties rigged or did something legal so what is your point ?
Did you see kids voting in any other part of Nigeria or grass now growing in your head?
The deception those kids represent is what the core-North calls its huge population. Kids make up between a quarter and half of core-Northern voters, Chadians, Nigeriens, Camerounians, Sudanese etc make up another quarter at least.
What this implies is that we can cut the official census figures of the North by half (at least) without shaking.

Why not use the institutions in place? What tells you that this SNC will be able to solve the problems? Why Nigeria has a congress in the first
place if it is not to discuss these issues?
Institutions put in place by a fake "huge" population that needs bolstering on voting day with legions of kids, some as young as six.
The true population size will be laid bare before 2015. cool
