@Beaf,

Be extremely careful when you come to a public forum and accuse others of things they havent done. How can my stand for Ogboru be fermenting trouble? are you saying I must not condemn the most wretched and wicked leadership Delta state has ever witnessed just because you say so. Delta state is in so much trouble because the likes of you have refused to conceed and accept the truth. And by the way, I have Itsekiri blood in me as well, and I will tell you now that Deltans are more interested in good leadership than where our governor comes from

Ogboru does not need to belong to a party steeped neck deep in corruption and mismanagement to win the election, and if what you are confirming to all of us today about GEJ supporting Uduaghan is true, it speaks volumes about the Person of goodluck and what he stands for
The question is really not about Deltans, it is more about your ethnically charged methods. The fact that you identified me as Itsekiri (and therefore belonging with the "enemy"wink only goes to show where your politics is pointing.

Yes Deltans want good government, but you seem to care a lot about where that leadership comes from, otherwise you wouldn't care that anybody is Itsekiri or not. Afterall, Itsekiri's are 100% Deltan.

I have been watching the crude tactics you guys are employing with increasing trepidation. Why attempt to pitch the Urhobo against the minority Itsekiri? Do you want to squash them in their own state, simply because the governor is one? I don't get it. The demonstrations you people are sponsoring started with so called, Urhobo students (read better as paid up halleluyah singers). Why? After that, it was "Urhobo graduates" looking for pipeline security jobs, indeed!

Every ethnic group in Delta state is heavily armed, stop stoking fires that will only lead to bloodshed. Perhaps, you don't care for youthful lives though.

If we don't want Uduaghan, then lets impeach him while getting EFCC pertitions together; its called organisation. cool
That is the only civilised approach, Delta state is not packed with animals.

Beaf,
I believe you are being disingenuous on this issue, eguerrilla posted an opinion written by a legal scholar in which there appears to be no ambiguity on the rights of Nigerian citizens to hold or contest any public office.

Maybe the way out of this is for the Supreme Court to rule on the issue because the subject is bound to come again in the near future.

My opinion is that it is intellectually bankrupt for anyone to suggest Nigerian citizens should forfeit their right to contest public office based on dual nationality.
When did legal opinions become the law?
Politics › Re: Dual Citizens Have No Future In Any Elective Office In Nigeria? by Beaf: 1:55pm On Nov 01, 2011
@eGuerrilla

You are funny indeed!
You asked me two aggressive sounding questions (more like statements without proof) and I asked to to go make your enquiries directly.
Then you came back with the same stuff and I asked you if their passports were in your lap (obviously they are not).

And now you've come up with this:

eGuerrilla:
I travel, I read, I have a fair idea how these things work.
I also recognise an attempt to stultify discussion when I see one - by a political apparatchik, perhaps.
Care to share what you read? Links? Or how your travels have made you learn firm things about David Marks and Bankole's citizenship statuses?
Give it a break. Peddling rumours is not a good thing.

This is funny! What oppression is Osun state under that they are breaking the law to be free off? If anything, Osun is getting a free ride on the FG's wallet.
Why cheapen and desecrate the names of Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King junior and the entire black race, because you want to help a misguided 19 bus contingent of aluta howlers, sent on a praise singing trip to Abuja at a time when workers in Osun are owed several months salaries? Don't you have respect?

Tell me how the stark reality of real hunger pangs in Osun state worker households is helped by utter recklessness and foolishnes of Aregbesola in first organising the trip and then disobeying police orders, causing the men to be arrested and the aluta trip to be even more expensive. What a dumb waste!!!

anonimi:
Osun PDP has raised a valid point:

Workers have not been paid for two months by a pseudo-progressive government of Association of Conmen in Nigeria (ACN) despite the huge monthly federal allocation, IGR, bank loans etc.
Yet Aregbesola can send ACN thugs to Abuja on solidarity with Chief Conman- Tinubu in state government vehicles paid for with tax payers money and federal allocation received on behalf of all the residents of the state (irrespective of the political affiliation). Aregbesola also abandoned his duty post in Osun state to be in the court in Abuja. Is this how to deliver dividends of democracy to the voters in Osun state huh
Let ACN people sit up and work properly instead of becomin a Tax & Steal party.
PDP should continue to scrutinise EVERY action and omission by ACN to provide valuable opposition to this band of conmen masquerading as progressives. That is what democracy is all about and ACN does that whereever they are not in power so why not PDP?
This is a very insightful post indeed, we have a governor who has clearly misplaced every priority that can possibly be misplaced. Osun workers have not been paid and are grinding along daily, but Aregbesola could afford to send 19 buses of aluta howlers on a glory singing trip to Abuja. I wonder how much that unfortunate and rather primitive endeavour cost? I wonder how many salaries that aimless junket could have taken care off?

Gbawe says the workers actually agreed not to be paid. Wonders! shocked
Osun, is the wonderful land where people "donate" work, while the food on their table is stretched.

I guess you have never been outside your village. Go wherever and answer the police foolishly or unconvincingly, only to lay back in your cell to talk about your "rights," cos you think police and laws are out there to decorate the place.

The police have a duty to ask you where you are going and for what purpose and if you fail to convince them, they can warn you and turn you right back or simply throw you in the back of the van for further interrogation, maybe even just to keep you off the streets. IT IS THE SAME EVERYWHERE IN THE WIDE WORLD.
Only a jackass would think the police have no right to keep individuals from accessing a location, either for their safety, or the safety of others.

Think of being a policeman at a checkpoint, only to be besieged by 19 damn buses. You ask where they are going and they answer, "to sing aluta, sir!" Would you be fool enough to let them pass? Especially when a UN building has just been blown up? Even drunks are kept off the roads for goodness sake!

This whole thing is so foolish, its really incredible you are carrying it on. Don't you have any self pride? Your strands of argument are too foolish to carry on as an adult.

You are not obliged to see reason with the law or apply your personal standards to police actions. The law is the law, it is written in stone.

koruji:
You are the silly one. Point to the law and stop pulling it out of your behind.
I said you talk very stup!dly.
People listening to the crap spewed by your likes on this thread would think the average Nigerian is a cretin or an irredeemable fool destined for the clay pot.
This is from the Met's website in the UK:

What is a stop?

There are three different types of stops that you may encounter:
■1. STOP - when a police officer or police community support officer stops you in a public place and asks you to account for yourself and may ask you the following questions:
■What you are doing
■Where have you been
■Where you are going
■What you are carrying

■2. STOP AND SEARCH - when a police officer stops and then searches you, your clothes and anything you are carrying.
■3. VEHICLE - a police officer can stop any vehicle and ask the driver for driving documents. This is not the purpose of stop and search, but you may be given documentation relevant to road traffic matters. It becomes a stop if:
■you or any passengers with you are asked to account for themselves; or
■a search is carried out of the vehicle, you or any passengers with you.

You will not necessarily be searched every time you are stopped. Sometimes you may just be stopped and questioned.

The police officer or police community support officer must explain why you are being stopped and held to account for your actions or presence in an area.

There are plenty of occasions when you might talk to police, and most of these do not qualify as either a ‘stop’ or ‘stop and search’.

You have not been officially ‘stopped’ if, for example:
■You stop an officer to ask for directions or information
■You have witnessed a crime and are questioned about it to establish the background to the incident
■You have been in an area where a crime recently occurred and are questioned about what you might have seen

In cases such as those, you have not been stopped for the purposes described on this website, a record of the encounter will not be made and you will not be given a receipt.

However, if you feel you have been stopped you can insist on the officer or police community support officer recording the encounter and giving you a receipt.

That would be your London in Bayelsa/Delta State, Nigeria. You think everyone is a dunce you can bamboozle? Do you even think before you spew these lies?

The Kogi state police just handed the appellants the court case. Nobody has to tell anyone what they are doing in Abuja or anybody in the Nigerian state for that matter. This is a carryover of the police-state mentality that years of jackboot military rule has forged into your skull.

What the police needs ensure, if they have a reason to conduct a search at all, is that nothing dangerous goes into the city. If anything dangerous turns up then questioning may begin on that basis. But you cannot stop someone for no reason, conduct a search for no reason and find nothing incriminating, and then still keep questioning them. Do you see how that looks now?

Here is a poser for you: What if they answer any of the following: wedding/funeral/toilet/watch TV/court. . .? What then? The police has a checklist of things people can do in Abuja now?

What is wrong with you people? You expect someone going to Abuja for a negative thing to tell you - because you asked?

Please point to the part of Nigerian law that sanction this new addition to the "fascist" rules you guys are building up daily. Tick tock tick tock. . .

‘Attack on The Nation’s vehicle aimed at Sylva’
On November 1, 2011 · In News

By Emmanuel Aziken, Political Editor
Bayelsa State Government, Monday, flayed the attack on a circulation van belonging to The Nation newspaper, describing the motive of the arsonists as another dimension to orchestrate political attacks aimed at derailing Governor Timipre Sylva’s re-election.

Commissioner for Information, Orientation and Strategy, Mr. Nathan Egba, in a statement, said the attack was aimed at creating a feeling of insecurity in the state that would undermine Sylva’s prospects in the forthcoming election.

He said: “Bayelsa State government wishes to condemn in very strong terms, the attack this morning of a circulation van belonging to The Nation newspaper by some unidentified persons around Mbriama who accused the paper of supporting Sylva.

“This no doubt is a new and dangerous dimension on the part of those who are bent on taking power from Governor Sylva by whatever means.

“Their desperation has moved beyond blackmail and rumour mongering to introduction of violence. This is a dangerous trend that will only bring misery to our people and create an air of insecurity and fear in our hitherto peaceful State.

“Governor Sylva is aware of the plans by some opponents to make the state appear lawless to give the impression of lack of effective governance.”

Lagos states debt is unsustainable; its not like they are doing anything to generate more money than they already have. I don't see anything to ease the business environment of incubate high turnover businesses. Everything Fashola has done (aside from the moribund Eko Atlantic), is cosmetic; nothing wealth generating; thats the reason Lagos is at the forefront of subverting the meaning of fiscal federalism to mean even more money into the Abuja begging bowl.
