To Beef and  all,

This is a huge and devilish rumour. I speak , well write from a position of proximitynto both the Governor and his Deputy, Nothing of such happened.Otunba Laoye Tomori, was not suspended neither, rather she embarked on a well deserved leave, her first since she assumed office. It is true, there's no smoke without fire, the question though is 'which fire is this". Are all rumours necessarily triggered on the act of the accused. is it not possible, that idle minds could read or intentional interpret and promote  wrong meanings to genuine actions or intentions.

The deputy governor, an older figure, could not have been slapped by the Governor as this wouldn't be consistent with His style .Aregbesola, sure is a fiery reformer, who doesn't fit into the conventional realm, but certainly not a abuser of women.

Beef, if you have done this out of genuine cause to advance peace and progress in Osun and Nigeria, then more grease to your elbow, if otherwise, May you reap the fruits of your Labour. Amen.

Regards,
Thanks for your input. The unfortunate fact is that most here do not work for Osun Defender which is quoted in the original article. By that quote, Osun Defender has helped propagate the allegation with their publication of a story that is also very strongly circulated at the highest of impecable quarters. As you say, "there is no smoke without fire."

I do not see why you should blame the readers of Osun Defender for reading, and then ascribing meaning to what they have read, as it cloths what they have heard.
You call Aregbesola "fiery," but many would use stronger terms with more unfortunate connotations. Nigeria deserves the best.

It's also the reason why the Niger Delta and the rest of Nigeria will not get the real federalism they seek. All this "official" bribing  undecided

The only beneficiaries of this waste will be the few politicians at the top and people like Izeze Reuben who are lucky enough to get a job carrying bags for them.

Unfortunately, the great hope of Delta state, Great Ogboru has adamantly remained voluntarily unelectable, despite a groundswell of love and support for him. Politics is a practical game.

FG sets up committee to review issues from recent constitutional conferences
October 22, 2011 10:48AM

President Goodluck Jonathan has approved the setting up of a committee to review outstanding issues from recent constitutional conferences.

This was contained in a statement issued on Friday in Abuja and signed by Sen. Anyim Pius Anyim, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).

The statement said the committee was set up after months of careful assessment of the political situation in the country and the desire of the President to create more avenues to promote peace, greater understanding, unity and good governance.

It said the committee was composed of Justice Alfa Belgore (Rtd), as Chairman, and Sen. Udoma Udo Udoma, as Deputy Chairman.

Other members are Prof. Jerry Gana and Mr G. Miri (North Central); Amb. Baba Gana Kingibe and Amb. Jibrin Chinade (North East); Dr Abubarkar Sadiq and Alhaji Abubakar Mustapha (North West) and Prof. Anya O. Anya, and Dr Chukwuemeka Ezeife (South East)

Other are Mrs Tessy Ikimi and Mr Ledum Mitee (South-South); Prof. Oladapo Afolabi and Chief Ebenezer Babatope (South-West).

Also members are Mr Peter Esele, Hajiya Salmot Badru, Hajiya Najatu Mohammed, Ms Comfort Obi, Alhaji Wakil Mohammed, Barr. Halima Alfa, while the Secretary is Mr Ferdinand Agu, from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

It said the committee, which has two months to complete its assignment, would among other things review the reports and implementation guideline(s) of 1994/1995 National Conference and the 2006 Political Reforms Conference.

It will also identify the constitutional, political, economic, social and other governance issues agreed upon in the conference but which have not been implemented.

The committee will also deliberate upon the currency and relevance of the issues identified above and draft bills for the consideration of the National Assembly in respect of the issues identified above.

Similarly, the committee will prepare policy papers/memoranda for the consideration of the government as may be applicable to ensure that the issues receive the full attention as agreed upon and intended by the originating conferences.

It will also identify, discuss and seek agreement on issues of national importance upon which the recent conferences did not achieve a consensus.

The committee will discuss and conduct suitable consultations on political and other problems that may be referred to it from time to time by the government.

The statement said that the committee would be inaugurated on Nov. 1.

It was clear what the OP was saying: The protests prevented Uduaghan from having his birth day celebration. That was the second stanza to the resignation of his special assistant, protesting the same grievance - youth unemployment.

Ironically, one of the signature achievements of Aregbesola's 1 year in Osun State was an innovative approach to quickly employ 20,000 youths - a program against which you like to proclaim the most disgusting lies here on NL.

Go help Delta state, and stop all your ignominous lies on NL.

@Beaf,

I can confirm there was indeed a protest yesterday in Warri.

I am presently in Warri visiting family and friends and one lane of the DSC expressway was blocked yesterday by protesting youths.

I couldn't get into Edjeba (near DBS) from the expressway cos of the rowdy atmosphere.
It is clear there was a protest, but is is also clear that Warri was far from shut down as the OP claimed. He doesn't need to tell any lies to drive home his grouses with Uduaghan, otherwise people like me would conclude that he has dark ulterior motives which are not of benefit to Delta state.

If it's about corruption, no prob. We can start with an 'Occupy Lagos' protest until Tinubu refunds all the money he stole from Lagos Treasury. Then we can move to Abuja and ask that Buhari be jailed for inciting the massacre of Youth Corpers and other innocent Nigerians post elections. Buoyed by the two important successes, we can then talk about others. Otherwise, you will walk alone!

Please please stop justifying Uduaghan's failure.

I grew up in Warri and I know what Ibori did during his tenure. Uduaghan is just a waste of time.

Now I'm beginning to wish Ibori spent some more years as governor.

And please stop comparing Delta with Osun state.

Delta should be comparable only to the FCT and Rivers (forget Lagos)
So, because Uduaghan is a failure it means warri is ugly and we shouldn't be proud of where we are from?
You people are very annoying. angry

Warri remains a beautiful place that evokes jealousy from the rampant bigots on NL, strangely it is not even the state capital. These folk would be joyous to have many of our much smaller towns as their state capitals.

Its funny how some of us expect refineries to be completed in a few months from the day they were first talked about on the campaign trail. Even if we are biased, let it not be to such abysmally ridiculous levels.
The fact that there is discernable work in such a short time from the campaign promise shows a govt that is resolute about building the new refineries. It is a commendably rapid response to the issues that blight the life of the common man on the street.

It is very true indeed. The poor workers in that state have been the victims of every conceivable lie that their horrible governor can haul at them. Anyone that dares complain gets haunted down and harassed until they call black, white. It is a true representation of Aregbesola who is known to have slapped his female deputy as well as the gentle soul, Fashola.

Aregbesloa spends his time supervising politics and money sharing in Lagos, Osun might as well go to the pigs for all he cares.

I submit to you that you'll only find a minute minority of real Lagosians living in those conditions. abi you have evidence to the contrary ni?
Firstly, no Deltan (whether their roots are from Warri, Kano or Ghana) lives in such bestial conditions as obtains under the wicked leadership of Gbawe's state. There are migrants in every state of Nigeria and it is the duty of the host to provide quality living for every last one of its people, otherwise we will only class their leaders as primitive blood suckers only interested in thieving from the suffering masses.
