^ Dude, are you ok? Why can't you gather your 10 or so one liners into a single post? |
jason123:Couldn't be better said. ![]() |
Sun of god:IMHO, it does. But something seems to have scared the pants off him. |
lagos2NYC: There used to be a hit song in the good old days. It went: These voices! These voices! I hear them! I hear them! . . .And when they talk, I follow! I follow! Never neglect your meds. |
manny4life:Strangely, in the US where you are, municipalities powerplants actually build schools, roads and bridges and take care of the everyday needs of citizens. The power station below is part owned by the Oklahoma Municipal Power Authority (one of about 8 ). https://www.industcards.com/DoletHills.jpg So why can't we do things properly in Nigeria and empower LG's as is done all across the developed World? We need to make the staes and FG less important and much weaker if we are to make any progress and develop. anything less will see us walking in circles. |
“'Why was it so desperate as to enlist the support of the Inspector General of Police and a mercenary group in the SSS to subvert the elections in Lagos? Does this not constitute an abuse of federalism? If the elections had been held in a non-ACN state, would the police have given a special protection to anyone, who is not a candidate as it did for a stalwart of the PDP in Lagos State?'’I don't understand this statement. You could almost read it that ACN wanted to harm the PDP man in question, or what exactly is the point? |
That equipment had been left to rot in the ports for 5 years while the cabal auctioned the items to themselves. A lot of uninformed folk abuse GEJ, but he put an immediate end to the nonsense as soon as he became Acting President, Sambo gave the ports authorities two weeks to release the items. Now the long arm of the law is getting round to crushing the sellers and receivers of such sensitive national goods. Everyone involved needs to be jailed. |
Beaf, Yes. But I don't think we need to fix revenue sharing sef, we just need to "troway the nonsense" for ocean. What we need is revenue contribution, let each Federating units (whichever way we agree to constitute them) take charge of their revenue receipts -yes including oil. Then contribute to the center based on agreed-to terms( for national welfare and defense) Cities, LG and to a small extent, States, should be the first point of revenue collection. We are all being duped right now. Anyway, like Gbawe said, ideas are not the issue, dem plenty. The issue is political will to do the right thing. That one scarce die.
The political will is far from lacking, but the fightback of the enemies of the nation is sophisticated and concerted. Part of their bag of tricks as I mentioned earlier, is to take terms like "true federalism" and obfuscate their meanings so that the people are deceived and energised in a fight against themselves, instead of against the system. The only way forward for the lovers of the country is to avoid head on battles, but quarter and trap these sophisticated operators in their own bile. It is encouraging that Fashola is beginning to find his real voice and sing a different song from Tinubu; instead of demanding more federal money to the states, he is talking about empowering the LG's. Fashola could indeed become a useful ally in the true federalism trenches. As for banning revenue sharing, that is really not workable (maybe even inhuman), except it comes in phases. And while that is going on, those areas would need to be financially supported to stand on their own feet. |
Onlytruth:You hit the nail square on the head. They can't believe in anything, cos they are flatly incapable and so they try to close down superior positions by exhibiting their naturally animal instincts. It is not in the DNA for scoundrels to believe in anything, or even marshall a a semi-literate argument; they get jealous of those who stand by their beliefs and demolish their fools arguments. Its best to ignore the losers. lol |
Hahaha, this is the beaf karma. Thats what happens to you when you sell your soul over a little money. Haulage of insults, abuses and threats. Beaf you better tell your hirees that the heat is too much
The stench of a loser is a vile odour indeed. |
icez:Please tell them, bruv. There are a lot of sickening things going on in Nigeria today. What makes matters worse is that Ekiti state depends 100% on the FG for its survival, yet the governor deems it fit to expell disabled Nigerians from school, because they are "foreigners." Where does the money spent in Ekiti state come from? With the rate at which ethnic bigotry and fascism are taking hold in Nigeria, we will soon have public firing squads, hangings and lynchings of non-indegenes in Nigeria. Rather than continue with such crap, unviable states like Ekiti should be closed down, instead the pack of bushmen in the NASS want to create yet more waste drains for scarce FG money; they call them states. States indeed. |
Lolz! Where would this revolution be located? In Delta state, Nothern Muslims are escaping for dear life; in Ekiti, they are educationally disenfranchising disabled non-indegenes; Lagos state has repeatedly "deported" fellow Nigerians; Abia has sacked all non-indigenes from the civil service; our very dear Nairaland is home to a nest of ethnic bigots. Some of you are dreamers that can't tell night from day and allow foolish partisan considerations affect your sense of judgement and lose sight of the very real problem that are pinching the real Nigerians. Revolution indeed! I choose war. Lol! Donkeys. |
Aregbesola. |
This is another manifestation of the ugly nature of citizenship in Nigeria today. We have Delta state ejecting Northern Muslims, Ekiti state ejecting "foreign" disabled students and Lagos state deporting "foreign" beggars. Nigeria is a failed state. |
Where is Beaf hiding because he needs to allocate funds that can accommodate his homeless relatives. If Beaf had been respectful to the people of Ekiti, his kinsmen would have been comfortably enjoying Ekiti tax payers largess,
You have taken to talking like a fool these days, like your brains are firmly bolted in your arse. What we are witnessing is racism and the small minds that applaud it. States like Ekiti would be closed down and merged with others in a decent country. |
This is another reason why we need our residency laws modified with immediate effect. There is a very high probability that the disabled deltans have been living in Ekiti for generations. They deserve the same rights and privileges as other Ekiti residents. With the appropriate changes to the said achaic laws, this kind of insensitivity and outright ungodly wickedness will be reduced. What a disgrace! These disabled people are Nigerians and most of all human beings - lets treat each other with dignity.
I agree to this a hundred percent. It is hard to describe the degree of disgust in words. @topic There is a growing love for primitive ethnically bigotted behaviour in Nigeria. What a they going to do next? Kill people who are not from Ekiti? This is how Hitler started. |
![]() This is a deep embarrassment to Nigeria! Mods, please close this thread! Delete it! |
We all know that the Nigerian constitution is a fraud, but there are chasms of a fundamental nature to be crossed before the parties reach a concensus. In fact several fraudulent concepts of "true federalism" have been flying around, at least one of these has been backed by Fashola himself in the past, so we need to be careful when analysing his statement. We must be on guard that the concept of true federalism is not hijacked and bastardised by politicians; it is the last hope for Nigeria and the man on the street. True federalism in its unadulterated form, would give the states and LGA's a great degree of legal and financial autonomy, such that local cultures, beliefs and practices are preserved on the one hand. One the other, it would ensure that every federating unit becomes self sustaining, with the LGA's being the primary generators of wealth and providing govt that is truly close to the people. In the above scenario, the LGA's would pay taxes to the states and the states would pay taxes to the FG. Now here is the catch in Fashola's former position (which he seems to have either shifted from or is expressing a willingness to shift from); he and his party have termed true federalism to be not much more than the FG giving the states more money. In other words, the FG would become even stronger as it weilds bigger purse strings (payments to states and LG's is entirely at the FG's whim, it isn't detailed in the constitution). That position quickly got support from governors across the board, because it is an even shorter cut to corruption than what exists today. I am impressed that Fashola mentioned empowering the LG's with more money, because that represents a meeting of of minds with GEJ's stance that he would only alter the revenue sharing formula for the benefit of LGA's. In other words, less money will go to the FG, less will go to the states, but much more will go to the LGA's. It is easy to see how this approach would stymie corruption; there will be no more any massive ammounts of money in any centralised location for politicians to steal and more importantly, the LGA boss will be a local person; you know where they live and who their kids are, if they don't perform, you simply take petrol and matches and burn down their house (which would be just down the street). |
^ This post is totally unfair. |
Who is the governor of Ogun state? ![]() |
O Lord, unto thee I commit my spirit! Holy Ghost Fire! Holy Ghost Fire! Holy Ghost Fire! Holy Ghost Fire! Holy Ghost Fire! Holy Ghost Fire! Holy Ghost Fire! Holy Ghost Fire! Holy Ghost Fire! Holy Ghost Fire! Holy Ghost Fire! Holy Ghost Fire! Holy Ghost Fire! Holy Ghost Fire! Holy Ghost Fire! |
jmaine:No be small tin o! I de fear fear! I even have rear view mirrors to watch behind when I stroll down the road these days. Lol! . . .Lest any man luv'n, red-eyed wonk develops idea's about my hard man's arse. Onlytruth:You never know, we (me you and Reno) could all meet in the future someday and have a great laugh at the absolute displays of unabashed id!ocy we get from some of NL's weak characters. The OP is well known for praying for coups as is the wont of a simple minded loser, he is also known for opening bullying threads as is the wont of a coward who cannot fight alone. There are many of his useless kind on NL. @Beaf/Reno haters For the umpteenth time, I am not Reno Omokri. Go do your wanking with your wives and leave Beaf alone, cos he doesn't give a shiit about you. |
Are you serious, dude? You need to give the full inside info on what happened. |
^ Stop running around like a headless chicken. pheesayor:The bolded 100% confirms what I said, that Buhari introduced the whole fuel subsidy wagon. All he is doing here is making a very weak and unconvincing play of words. I expect that his name will be mentioned quite a lot if the fuel subsidy corruption cycle is opened for investigation, due to the current subsidy removal proposal. He started the ugly ball rolling, the dirty details are in the so-called negotiation with the oil companies, who does what, who gets paid, what gets paid and how. |
great1:Lol! What kind of babe takes a name like great1? I like strong charactered women. |
Jarus:But you are meant to be the umpire. However, you have actually egged some battles on, because of your political leaning; the report to a mod button is a mere decoration when someone abuses another persons mother etc; you people put threads that ridicule particular posters on the front page and so on and so forth. What do you expect the result would be? People would seek their own justice. As for raising 800,000 Naira for a politician right here on Nairaland, I really wonder how it was done and what the implications are. |
Jarus:Lol! You too changed terribly like many did, or perhaps my past estimation was misplaced. There are threads you wouldn't have expected a mod on that you joined and there were things you wouldn't expect a mod to say that got said by you; that is beside the fact that you recently posted that you raised 800,000 Naira for a presidential candidate right here on NL. If the forum was managed better, things wouldn't have descended to the current lows. First it was really terrible ethnic bigots like bkbabe allowed to run riot, then it was all sorts of openly biased actions; it is those things that have spiralled out of control with aggrieved people and factions seeking thier own justice. When the umpire blames the players for a bad game, then all cannot be well. |
jason123:Education remains the best suggestion on that list. It will produce by far the highest bang per buck invested in the citizen. Free quality health would have been good, but no country can afford that without raising taxes through the roof. Subsidising public transportation is impossible in Nigeria. |
FEC awards Contracts for Benue Bridge October 19, 2011 The Federal Executive Council [FEC] has approved contract for the construction of a bridge over River Benue to link Nasarawa State and Benue State, when completed the bridge will reduce the heavy traffic on the Abuja- Lokoja Road and cut two hours off from Abuja to Enugu said to be a strategic road for the North Central, South East and South -South zones. N36.118 billion was approved for the construction of Ojuloko-Oweto Bridge over the River Benue, and will be completed in 48 months. Disclosing this to state house correspondents after the Federal Executive Council meeting, the minister of works, Architect Mike Onolememen who joined that of information Minister, Mr Labaran Maku said that the contract will cost over N36 billion and will be completed in 48 weeks’ time. The council on Wednesday while reviewing the Architect Ibrahim Bunus Presidential Project Assessment Report also approved the procurement of two boats for the Nigerian Customs Service to enable them check all forms of smuggling along the Nigeria’s Waterways. The Council approved the procurement of two A-30 boats for them, which will cost N 270 million. What I suggest the palliatives be, are free primary education with World standard schools or subsidised health care. Such things would be valued a lot and would directly benefit the common man. If we go for free eductation then we can get XO computers or the new $36.00 Indian tablet for every student. I'd really love to see that. |
^ I see you've been drinking milk directly from the cow again! Lol! You know the pic in question. ![]() |
mbulela:Why should I give you any reason when I say there isn't yet enough detail to go on? I'm sure you must have read that, so please pass on by. I'm not in the habit of rushing to conclusions before I have the full facts, thats what I advice everyone to do as well. |
