Those sentences are really pushing me to anger. I could burn down that phucking judge. This is the reason Nigeria never progresses. Can you imagine? Boys have learnt to refine crude and instead of bringing them into the fold, some judge locks them up? It might take whatever it takes, but we must harness the technology these boys have been jailed for developing. Bloody fuckry! 90 years indeed! ![]() |
^ Dude, go fly around a smelly arse. Learn to hold a civil conversation or buzz off. |
^ I would reply you if you actually attempt to make sense instead of shouting. Rubbish. ![]() |
jason123:Nigeria doesn't need any subsidies on natural resources. What we need is organisation and then we can reach for the stars. Several times on NL, I have published a list of thirty something cities that make more money than the entire country, Nigeria. That list includes the likes of Mexico City, Buenos Aires, Tokyo etc. The only thing they have over us is organisation, they don't have any oil subsidies, instead they make money from services and industry. I've read somewhere that there are proposals for massive infrastructural undertakings for next year. With massive road building, refineries, power etc as a way to provide employment and kickstart the economy. But lets wait until we get concrete details. |
I tend toward the view that the subsidy be removed, but will not be fully convinced until all the details of the palliative package are out. There is a steady drip of information, but access to the full story is very tightly controlled (I guess its from lessons learnt with the way false stories get into the papers easily). However, its known that the removal will be done in stages and will not affect kerosine. Lets wait to hear the full story, but in my opinion, we are better of dumping any fuel subsidy primarily because of corruption. Many people have grown even more liquid than Nigeria from unbridled theft (in the name of subsidy) and it is impossible to fight them in the law courts with the current state of corruption of the average Nigerian. Strangely, these people cannot even be fought in the law courts, because they have written the laws to suit themselves, so their pocketing of trillions with the milk of babies and the sweat of the poor has been covered legally. The best thing to do is cut off their source of oxegen. Chop them off. ![]() A lot has been done to sanitise our oil industry, but the oil subsidy reciepients need to be defeated to complete the job. Our rifineries will never work until that lot are vanquished. |
astronp8:I wonder if you people are normal? Can you point at one instance where I have called anybody names here, instead I've had to side step the gutter words of at least 3 posters. I know your tactics and they point at dismal failure to make counter points and a dishonest means to cover up by pointing at Beaf; who you would seem to be saying has insulted you so much that your counter-points dissolved into thin air. Thats boring, old and a big fail. Nobody can remake history and the fact stands that Buhari introduced the fuel subsidy wagon to Nigeria in 1978; not just that, but he has spent his whole life in Nigeria's petroleum sector, moulding it. There are a couple of them in that bracket, the other is Rilwan Lukman. If anyone wants to dissect the corruption in NNPC, then they are better off starting with these two. It is sheer hypocrisy for Buhari to point fingers when he started the fire. |
^ That pic will now be remorselessly plagiarised. lol! What a killer pic! |
udezue:Exactly. There have been many times I have wanted to post profound threads on the inner workings of Nigeria, but you just look at the terrain and give up. I really wonder where the country is going with an older generation that mainly a class of thieves and a younger one that is mainly a pack of ignorant folk that hates knowledge. |
Kx:Lol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How can you remove the fuel subsidy to pay "powerful business men?" How would that work? Fuel subsidy is what pays corrupt people. When you remove the fuel subsidy, you remove those corrupt souls and their networks from the system. |
^ We have simply proven in stark terms, the fact that Buhari precided over the very first ever removal of subsidies way back in 1978. He is just being a hypocrite now, because he is still in pain about the elections. Its best for us to all move on and leave bitterness of the past behind. |
udezue:Unfortunately, most of the old guys have left, due to the gutter attitudes of many of the new ones. Its a real pity. |
oxford:Exactly! The man is just misfiring in all directions because someone else is doing the grand things to save the country. The very subsidy that Buhari is rubbishing as fraudulent is the very same one he started in 1978. There will always be a fight back from the vested interests that have kept Nigeria in the chains of corruption and despondency for the benefit of a few pockets. When the subsidy is tackled, every last one of these parasites would be gone because their means of draining the Nigerian economy and sucking the blood of infants would be gone forever. The other day, it was Aluko spitting fire. Yet as minister of finance, he was the brains behind Abacha's "subsidy" deals to take over the Nigeria economy and pipe the proceeds straight into his Swiss accounts. Buhari distributed the largesse and claims till date that the ignoble thief, Abacha never stole a dime. We know better. Left to me, all those who took part in any military regime would be lined up, shot and fed to pigs. |
jaybee:Those who go personal are those who are either too lazy to think or are the enemy of the masses. So keep abusing sir, you're doing quite well indeed! The fact is that Abacha removed subsidies, it doesn't matter if it was total or not. Buhari is claiming that the subsidy concept is new to him, that is the point. I am proving his hypocrisy. Lets even leave Abacha aside and go back to 1978 when Buhari was the defacto petroleum minister (NNPC acted as a ministry at that time) and you will find that he presided over the first ever removal of subsidies in Nigeria. You mentioned Obj, but guess who was petroleum minister in Obj's junta, Buhari again! the man is totally steeped in the shame of Nigeria's petroleum industry and its "subsidies." |
EPOMA:like I said, you will always abuse because you are empty. The NNPC operated like a ministry when it was created in 1977 (indeed Buhari was the petroleum minister at the time, a post he had held since 1976). I posted verifiable backing for my comments that Buhari presided over the first ever removal of "subsidy," but of course you chose to be blind to facts, instead you are accusing me of supporting imaginary dragons that are inimical to your generation. Dude, your real enemy is ignorance and the lack of a desire to read. Below is a compilation of the way governments over the years have removed what it claimed to be subsidies on petroleum products.http://www.vanguardngr.com/2011/10/subsidy-removal-a-history/ You are getting upset because you have been found to be talking nonsense and beer palour conjecture. I can produce intense detail on this topic, so keep your emotional outbursts that make no sense in the cooler. Sit down and learn, if you truly give a toss about the welfare of your generation, the truth is in plain view. Buhari is being a hypocrite. |
EPOMA:You will always abuse because you are empty, sir. It doesn't change easily verifiable facts. Buhari has spent 90% of his political life being chairman of the NNPC. He formed NNPC into what it is today. Indeed, Buhari was its first head in 1977 during the period corruption set into the oil industry (Decree 33, NNOC & MPR extinguished). He was also petroleum minister under Obasanjo, PTF chairman under Abacha (whom he claims never stole a penny). With Buhari under Abacha, there was rampant removal of the "subsidy" and award of importation contracts to cronies, Buhari became the chairman of the Petroleum Trust Fund (PTF) that disbursed monies accrued from the removal of "subsidies." So tell me, is Buhari being honest, or is he just flying an ugly populist kite? Below is a compilation of the way governments over the years have removed what it claimed to be subsidies on petroleum products.http://www.vanguardngr.com/2011/10/subsidy-removal-a-history/ In 1978, Buhari was the head of NNPC. Mind you, during General Sani Abacha’s maximum dictatorship, the Petroleum Trust Fund, PTF, was set up to warehouse subsidy funds for special interventionist engagementshttp://www.vanguardngr.com/2011/10/subsidy-removal-a-history/ |
when GEJ got 109% votes in an election that recorded just above 51% turn out, they called it FRESH AIR, now Tinubu did same beaf barking like a local calabar dog This CPC beaf sef! you must be a chadian beaf not one from kastina
thanks for admitting the obvious fact that the elections were shamelessly rigged. I don't see what part your fraudulent reference to GEJ plays in the the sham we are witnessing in Lagos. An odour is beginning to seep out of ACN and it is not good. |
What exactly is Buhari saying? He was behind the removal of subsidies in abacha's time, he was behind the advent of the word, "subsidy" into the Nigeria lexicon as petroleum minister, head of PTF and of course, as head of state. It is quite disingenious for a man of his status to suddenly disown the baby he brought into this World, simply because it is damn ugly. |
blacksta:I only see an adjective. In grammar, an adjective is a 'describing' word; the main syntactic role of which is to qualify a noun or noun phrase, giving more information about the object signified. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adjective |
arsenefc:I am not worried by that pack of thugs and liars. Rhino is only behaving true to type. They will lie to hide the truth, but it will always snap right back and hit them square between the eyes with tectonic force. |
If indeed that justice was distorted, ACN should be prepared for the consequences. Lagos State Government controls LASIEC but they should remember that FG (which is PDP controlled) controls INEC. PDP, for all her ills has the best crop of guys that fully understands this country. This may go unchallenged by PDP but only to fester the heat of hurt of suppression of people's voice meted to them by their beloved party and for the first time, you may have many people asking critical questions about how sensitive this regional party is. Remember that injustice is a sore wound. This is not about throwing insults, but this is a true test for shining knights like Fashola. Where he stands now matters most. Is he with his party or with the people? If he plays to the gallery and enforces ACN position, he might have compromised the basic reason for ACN support in Lagos State. Otherwise, he might be hurting his political associates. But for what i see, and no matter how this plays out, ACN may emerge less popular.
Beaf endorses this post. ![]() |
@BP Dude, thanks for the feedback. I am happy with a lot of the issues you have up and I hope other truly concerned folk will join your crusade. I feel your pain with the way intelligent discuss on NL has nosedived into inexistence. There are lots of times when I want to have uplifting and deeply insightful discussions, but you look around and see only loud newcomers who have nothing of value to add to the life of the suffering man on the street or the aspiring youth. All they do is go round loudly reducing all topics to thuggish levels. Dishonesty and immorality bring out the fight in the honest and upright; and until the rabble-rousing crowd leave, we will only continue to see an ever widening spiral of the politics section into greater mediocrity and immorality, because those on the right side will have little choice, but to unleash ear-splitting slaps and bone re-aligning punch flurries to reconfigure the bone-headed. I will continue to support GEJ uncompromisingly until someone can convince me otherwise with incontrovertible evidence. Powerful groups, who feel cheated with the closing down of the corrupt systems of the past, constantly vilify GEJ with an avalanche of falsehood’s (e.g. building refineries in Indonesia). Such lies must be strongly refuted by the knowledgeable ones amongst us; Nigeria must develop, regardless of any forces that don’t like the idea. I believe though that your grouse is more with my treatment of Aregbesola. In many ways, it has been a hard driving approach; however, without your prompting, I have since toned down my scathing descriptions of the man by several notches. He really is by far the worst governor on the landscape though. Lol! Do I miss the old Nairaland? Of course I do, we aren’t animals. Once more, thanks for bringing this up, I genuinely feel for the matter and yearn for the old politics section where we discussed issues and solutions to uplift the common man and drive our nation forward. |
I am happy that in the very same year that PDP delivered the freest, fairest and most transparent elections ever, ACN has only delivered sham upon imposed sham. There are protests rocking parts of Lagos, it will get exponentially worse as the people realise that ACN is only relying on Fashola's work for its electability. Outside of Fashola, its just a dense nest of corruption, ineptitude and heartlessness. The people are not blind, indeed eyes have opened. |
DCAT:Oga mi, I always wear more than one helmet in his presense o! Make dem no go take slap join my nose to my ear! ![]() |
Good DayMy sister, how is it wrong to display a picture of Oshogbo on a thread for worst governor? Such visual evidence puts arguments and observations in firm perspective to 3rd parties; importantly, the photo did not denigrate the town or its people in any way. That innocuous photo was fundamental to the message and context of that post, its removal of renders that post useless and its message hanging in space. I really do not understand why the warning that I could be banned for that. |
^ Nah, Ilaje's also answer Tosan, except its an encroachment on their language from Itsekiri. |
Torch1:Lolz!!! I wonder why the governor of a state that is in great need should spend his tenure in Lagos, slapping people! This is Oshogbo that AregbeRASCAL has abandoned to its fate, God de sha! ![]() |
gregg2:I am glad we are all seeing what some of us deduced long ago. Bless you. |
ochukoccna:What then would you say about Aregbesola, governor of Osun who I believe is still in Lagos supervising and rigging the current LGA elections? |
Of course, its Mariam, bruv. Nobody voted for IBB, he should have create both Delta and Anioma, but chose to go halfway to satisfy core-Northern politics. |
