Theres something I learnt a few years ago at a Dept. Of State U.S Security Overseas Seminar. . . . . .

NEVER GLOAT OVER DIPLOMATIC VICTORIES!

Dude, the best victory is celebrated without much fanfare. To boast is to rub salt into wounds, put your adversary on guard, and make future accommodations with him more difficult! Usually, a man doesnt know that he has suffered a sharp defeat until he hears the victor boasting about it.

You will do urself, and your people, a favor by heeding this message!
Business has been taken care off here, and its gonna be so for donkey years.

You are a fool

Since when did yorubas blend in well with those in the north?  huh Are easterners the only people who are christians or affected in the north during religous riots? NO

@all ignorant folks- theres a big misconception that a yoruba person who is christian is just as safe as a yoruba muslim in the north or a yoruba muslim is safe in the north. Abi yoruba christians dont attend the churches that are burned down by muslim hausas? riots in the north are more ethnic and political than religous.

You cant group all yorubas together because they arent like easterners who are ALL christian, and hausas who are ALL muslims.

- that is exactly why yorubas feel comfortable and stay mostly in the SW- they dont have to deal with terrorist northerners and ignorant christian fanatics in the SE and SS - who are in general no different than northerners.
I know this thread is quite old but. . .
There are massive numbers of Yoruba's in all the places in the North I've been to. A vast proportion of the taxi drivers in Kano are Yoruba.

I can promise everybody one thing; Buhari is just making noise. After Saturday, he will get as mysteriously quiet as Atiku.
The man has probably been paid to secure governorships for a particular set of people. If you take this line of thought, then his strange behaviour everything falls neatly in place:
[li]Telling his people to take their revenge with their votes next Saturday for the fraud perpetrated on them (he is both judge and jury), instead of being responsible, calming his supporters and telling rioters they aren't acting in his name [/li]
[li]Making wild and sweeping claims of rigging without proof[/li]
I can safely conclude that Buhari is jobbing, and doing so with human lives.

Maybe in your opinion the bolded below are either not in the Nigerian SW or have been miraculously transported to other zones:

Conclusion: Based on credible information received and intelligence reports in the areas mentioned, we formally write to reject the entire results presented from Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Bayelsa, Delta, Edo; Abia, Anambra, Enugu and Ebonyi states. Others include Ekiti, Ogun, Osun, Lagos, Sokoto, Kaduna, Jigawa, Gombe, Yobe, Zamfara, Adamawa, Nasarawa states and FCT.

2011: Militants hold secret meetings with IBB, Buhari
•Ex-military president given conditions
Written by Idowu Samuel and Emmanuel Adeniyi Monday, 06 September 2010

THERE are indications that President Goodluck Jonathan is yet to strike a deal with leaders of key militant groups in the Niger Delta to strengthen his chances of winning the South-South zone if he decides to run in the 2011 presidential election.

Indications to this effect emerged in the light of efforts by leaders of the militants, who had given up on the government amnesty initiative  to engage presidential aspirants from the North in exploratory talks on how to fit into their presidential programmes.

Two leaders of militant groups which surrendered arms in the wake of the Federal Government’s amnesty had arrived in Abuja last week to hold talks with northern presidential aspirants, including General Ibrahim Babangida and General Muhammadu Buhari.

Nigerian Tribune learnt through aides of the aspirants that the militants complained that they were not being consulted by President Jonathan.

The militant heads were said to have canvassed a view that their full participation in the ongoing political process would enhance their resolve to finally discard the toga of militancy, just as they reportedly expressed dismay that their efforts to dissolve into the campaign programme of President Jonathan were not being appreciated.

It is not certain which specific roles the militants desired to play in the presidential campaigns of the aspirants, whom they reportedly met. However, it was disclosed that tentative agreements were reached by the campaign team of General Buhari that they should make a bold appearance during his inaugural campaign summit scheduled to take place in Abuja any moment from now.

Checks within the IBB campaign organisation revealed that none of the militant leaders was able to meet the Minna general in person, but reportedly met his aides in Abuja and told them about their desire to feature in his campaign programmes.

When the militants met with the representatives of the ex-president recently, Nigerian Tribune gathered that they vowed to support him if he agreed to a one-term tenure and hand over power to a candidate from the South-South geopolitical zone in 2015.

Nigerian Tribune gathered that Babangida was told to rescind his decision of handing over to a candidate from the South-East, choose a vice-president from South-South, implement the white paper of the Ledun Mittee committee and create additional states in the South-South geopolitical zone.

Investigations by the Nigerian Tribune revealed that the militants were working with notable South-South governors, who were said to be working underground for different northern presidential aspirants following their irreconcilable differences with President Jonathan.

beaf is a fool of the highest order. Why did he have to rig, he cheated northerners and now its going to be hard for him to stay there!! The sad fact is, he could've won but only in a run off!!! Can you imagine, they burned down the emir of kano's palace and former speaker ghali na'abba's house as well. If they can do that then you know the PDP rigged. Jonathan cannot get 40% of the votes in sokoto, thats rigging and a big question mark!! he could've have won in a run off but in his desperation to avoid a run off, he had to go and rig!!! thats just what is causing this. Even namadi sambo's family home in zaria was razed to the ground! HE SHOULD NOT HAVE RIGGED!!! NOW ALL OUT WAR MAY NOT BE FAR OFF!!! just coz of do or die politics
LOL! You guys were caught this time. While you where busy making threats and calling GEJ all sorts of degrading names (typical core-Northern hegemonist "campaign" tactics), the man was busy adding two and two to triangulate you fools out of contention. Cry all you like, its late now, there's nothing quite as comprehensive as an intellectual routing. It actually fvcks with mind!!! grin
Who are you gonna cry to when EVERY national and international independent observer is reporting the elections as free and fair? When all foreign news agencies are reporting same?

Dude, cry by all means; fill buckets with tears, but accept reality. If you try all out war, you will be erased from the map, its the WHOLE of Nigeria against you. Do you now see why it is really really bad to be intellectually routed? grin grin grin grin grin

What a lame statement! This is more or less an incitement to further fuel the fire.
The statement makes it quite clear that CPC see's the violence as a campaign strategy:

5.  All CPC supporters should come out enmasse on April 26 to vote

for the CPC and overthrow those responsible for the evident injustice to our

Party and the nation.
How low can they go? Why campaign with the deaths of fellow Nigerians?

The body of a small boy shot in the chest by a stray bullet was brought to a police station.

"They have destroyed our cars and our houses. I had to run for my life and I am now in my neighbor's house," said Dora Ogbebor, a resident of Zaria whose origins are in the south.

Plumes of smoke rose into the air in parts of Kaduna as protesters set fire to barricades of tyres. Security forces fired in the air and used teargas to disperse groups of youths shouting "We want Buhari, we want Buhari."

Police said the violence was political rather than ethnic or religious. Twelve years after the end of military rule, the army said it stood fully behind the government and democratic rule.

Jonathan appealed to all politicians to end violence.

"No one's political ambition is worth the blood of any Nigerian," he said in a statement.

Buhari was yet to make any public statement on the violence despite appeals by foreign embassies that he call for calm.
http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/04/18/us-nigeria-elections-idUSTRE73E8DO20110418

Mr Buhari is yet to make a public statement on the rioting, but his spokesman Yinka Odumakin said that they could not “accept these results as announced until cross-checks have been carried out by the electoral commission”. The electoral commission is expected to announce the final results later today.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/africaandindianocean/nigeria/8459321/Many-killed-in-Nigeria-unrest-over-Goodluck-Jonathans-poll-win.html

Odumakin too, would not make a statement to save lives and call for calm, instead he ranted about election results. Shockingly, he is a Christian from Southern Nigeria whose people were mercilessly cut down.

There is a South, and there was a South before the inception of Nigeria. The enemies of reason will be defeated.
In order to coexist in a pluralistic polity like Nigeria, groups would have to follow rules applicable to all
without prejudice, but since our Northern non-compatriots are not willing to abide by the rules of the Constitution
then it's time for all Southern Nigerians to collude and make sure we are not subjugated in this Union.

Viva Southern Nigeria, it's the end of Northern tyranny. I predict there will never be a Northern led Government ever again.

The enemy of my enemy is my friend.

If anything should happen in the SW, you dont see the SE or the SS helping out (or vise versa) . Each would rather fight to protect their ppl in the SW. Am I lying?
Yes, in many ways.

When MKO Abiola was cheated, nobody saw it as a Yoruba thing, the whole country rioted. There are a thousand and one different examples to draw up.
If anything, some of todays youth (on all sides) are their own enemies, continously jumping at their own shadows and seeing creatures in the dark when there are none.

I am very uncomfortable with some of what I see on NL and the way its taken as reality on the ground. It isn't, in this times of torrid politics NL, is a darn unhealthy place to form life outlook opinions.
