STFU. People voting Buhari in the South South were heckled seriously. A couple of ladies in my PU in purdah were booed and taunted.

Voting on religious basis is not restricted to the North. Shouldn't we also excoriate all those Pastors in the South telling their congregation that GEJ is the 'divine candidate'?
You are sounding like a wrecked train these days. Its been shocking seeing you descend this way. The article mentions just Bauchi state, that is very far from your North vs South response.

I don't care what side of the devide you sit on, there just have to be moral red lines that shouldn't be crossed. Buhari looks very set to lose despite his appeals to the "faithful." Is that the kind of ugly politics Nigeria wishes for in these days of true voter representation? Please tell me what good can come out of bigotry, I know you can be logical when you actually try.

I haven't heard a single story about any religious person going from polling station to polling station in the South, preaching that people should vote along religious lines. I am 100% certain you haven't either.

Politics › Do Not Vote For An Infidel by Beaf(op): 10:38pm On Apr 16, 2011
Early results from the Nigerian Presidential election has shown ethnic and religious sentiments as voters polled for ther favourite candidates.

The two main frontrunners; the candidate of the Congress for progressive Change (CPC) General Muhammadu Buhari, a Muslim from the the North is very dominant in the North with no sign of taking a single state in the whole South and Middle Belt, while candidate of the Peoples Democratic party (PDP) and incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan, a Southerner from the minority oil producing region is sweeping all the states in the South and doing considerably well in the Middle Beltan states, plus gaining strong in the northern states of Adamawa and Kwara.

. . .

BAUCHI:

Reports of violence in the Misau area of the state as irate youths burn part of INEC building in protest before accreditation began. There are also reports of persons going from polling unit to unit urging voters not to vote for an 'infidel', that is, the PDP candidate President Goodluck Jonathan. CPC projected to win state.

Do we really aspire to this sort of primitive politics? Haven't enough people died in religious riots, why bring it into politics?
This election is really a test of Nigeria's nationhood against sectional and religious bigotries. What side are you on?

There's surely going to be a run off between PDP and CPC, no two way about it. it's going between north and south now.
On NL, but not in the real World. There is very low voter turnout across the North:

4:20pm: Kano records low turnout of voters

Written by Auwalu Umar, Kano Saturday, 16 April 2011 16:33

The Presidential election is recording a low turnout of voters in Kano compared to what was witnessed in last national assembly elections in the state.

Such cases were recorded in Sumaila, Garko, Makoda, Kumbotso and Gezawa. Other places included Shanono, Gwarzo, Karaye, Bagwai and Wudil. Low turnout of women was more pronounced in rural areas where one could not see their presence at various polling units as was the case last week.

Community leaders raised alarm via text messages to media houses over the development, saying the poor turnout of women in particular was a source of concern given the significance of the election.

In Wudil and Garko, community mobilizers had to go house to house to prevail on husbands to allow their wives to go and vote.

There are two conflicting reports as to the cause of poor turnout of voters in this election, according to findings by our reporter.

One of the reports have it that the voters were discouraged by the collapse of the proposed party alliance between Buhari’s CPC and Tunubu’s ACN. The other version of the report is that many women especially in rural areas thought they would only come out to vote without accreditation since they got accredited last week.

Beaf, don't be surprised if the results show a north-south divide at the end of the day.
I don't doubt they will, though GEJ's results will have quite a healthy spread. Buhari never even bothered to campaign to any sensible degree in the South. It has always been about "born to rule" vs the rest of the country. Yep, this election is a solid test of sectional bigotry vs national strength.

Yeah, CPC got out their dogs to publish fake early results. Can you imagine places in Bornu declaring early results when last time results had to be brought in by horse and donkey?
But let them play the game in CPC strongholds, even better, let them carry it through on the ground. It will make life damn easy! LOL!

The reason behind it was clearly the last race showed how important it is to have fresh tyres during the race. Obviously we would have a used option if we are doing a three stop. In the last race I only had two options I could use and then I had a new prime and an old prime. I wanted to make sure I had plenty of fresh tyres so we are in quite a strong position. I have got the options I just qualified on, a new set of options and a new set of primes and a very decent set of options again. Just tried to increase the chances for the race as that is where it actually counts.
http://www.grandprix.com/race/r842satpc.html

Very interesting statement from Lewis. He had a choice of two option (soft) tyres, yet McLaren ran him on softs (for the first stint only), after that it was strictly primes to the extent that old tyres were put on his car. He clearly had enough tyres for that race from his own words, that was also a commonly known fact from his tyre use during quali.
It seems McLaren are trying to cover a serious set of blunders by blaming the poor tyre strategy on Lewis blackspotting a set of options. lol!
If I recall, Jenson, Vettel and quite a few others did the same, so thats just the lamest PR that McLaren can reach for.

Let Us Come Together in Prayer No Matter the Side of he Political Fence You Sit On

After a hectic campaign that saw lives lost and friendships broken, let us meditate and reach out in friendship; to heal and to build.
Some might be atheists, others Muslim, yet others non-religious, all the same let us all join hands this once to move Nigeria forward with one accord.
More than anything, let us also remember the souls of those that fell during the journey; may their souls rest in peace and God give succour to those they left behind.

What better way to say thank you to our friends and hug our adversaries than enthral you with beautiful praise songs (Isoko, Ijaw and Uhrobo) from the Niger Delta. There are many more languages, so please feel free to feel in with videos from Igbo land, Itsekiri, Anang etc. Let us thank our fellow Nigerians.

Insurmountable economic problems plagued the Buhari regime as petroleum prices collapsed in the face of expanding foreign debt.

"Buhari instituted austerity measures that caused severe hardship to the average Nigerian. In addition, political corruption continued unabated, with politicians escaping to Western countries with millions of dollars in government money. In an effort to stop dissension, Buhari instituted restrictions on the press, political freedoms, and trade unionists. Typical Hamilton tongue. So Lewis is already throwing his toys out of d pram after just 2 races. Usually I would see this as nothing but hot air before contract negotiation, after all Vettel did d same at d end of last season. But Lewis seems very serious.
Dude, my speculation that Lewis was given old tyres was proven correct. I wasn't aware that Lewis himself had said as much.
In all my years of watching F1, I've never heard of a team that has done that, even brand new teams. I've always been a McLaren fan (from Mika Hakinnen, through Rakonnen to Lewis), but that was a real clanger; I would blame any driver for blowing their top, its also interesting how fast Martin Whitmarsh reacted to forgive Lewis and try to kill the story with PR.
