Why I cancelled metroline, by Buhari Emmanuel Oladesu 07/04/2011 00:59:00 Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) presidential candidate and ex-Head of State Gen. Muhammadu Buhari has said he was guided by national interest and the policy of his regime in cancelling the metro line project initiated by former Lagos State Governor Lateef Jakande. The ex-military leader said the allegation that he deliberately cancelled the project was "mischievous." Buhari was fielding questions at a Town Hall meeting at City Hall, Lagos Island. The CPC candidate, who presented his party’s manifesto, said his action was not in bad faith. . . . Buhari said he inherited a debt profile, which he intended to halt at the time the Lagos State government asked the Federal Government to guarantee a huge loan, which would have aggravated the debt burden. He said it did not make sense to source for a loan of either N100 million or 100 million dollars, when the focus was debt reduction. The CPC candidate said the regime cancelled the intra-city rail project after it set up two committees to examine the viability or otherwise of the project. http://thenationonlineng.net/web3/news/33009.html |
recoome: . . .No short skirt! Dat one go cause war o! ![]() On a serious note, all Nigerians should check how decree's 2 and 4 turned Nigerians into slaves while Buhari reigned. It is noteworthy that his popularity is mainly amongst teenagers and twenty something year olds, who either never experienced his tyrannical rule or are yet to learn its details. |
Yes Ribadu is finished politically (except as a jobber). Buhari is leading the last charge of the clueless generals that led Nigeria into her current mess. It is highly instructive that neither Ribadu nor Buhari can even articulate the reason they are running for president. We really don't need such. After 2011, its the bin for the sort of strange politics the likes of Buhari practices; such as holding campaign rallies almost exclusively in the North and not making any attempts to woo the South. Unsurprisingly, all members of Yar Adua's cabal (from Turai to Aliero, Kurfi, Ruma etc) have found shelter in Buhari's party. Sectional politics along with the ethnically bigoted politics of zoning must be buried for Nigeria to progress. |

Ahead of Polls: Customs Impound Army Uniforms Shipped From The Middle East THEWILL.06/04/2011 10:44:00 CUSTOM AREA COMPTROLLER IN CHARGE OF KANO AND JIGAWA STATES, MR SANUSI USMAN AZARE BRIEFING JOURNALISTS ON THE SEIZURE OF IMPORTED ARMY UNIFORMS AND BULLET PROOF VESTS SHIPPED VIA THE AMINU KANO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, TODAY, APRIL 06, 2011. KANO, April 06, (THEWILL) - Officials of the Nigerian Customs attached to the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport Kano have impounded eight ( unaccompanied boxes containing 190 Nigerian Army uniforms and bullet proof vests shipped to the attention of one Bashir Kano (his name was written on all boxes).Displaying the impounded hardware to journalists, the Area Custom Comptroller in charge of Kano and Jigawa, Mr. Usman Sunusi Azare said the apparels were flown in unaccompanied onboard a flight 0573 from Beirut, Lebanon. He described the act as a breach of national security. “These items should not have been imported. The boxes were thoroughly searched by my officers which resulted in the discovery of these items. The most interesting issue here is that, these items are coming in at a particular time when our nascent democracy is being tested to the limit. We in the Custom service will continue to keep vigil on every item that comes via this airport,” he stated. The Area Comptroller said two persons have been arrested in connection with the seizure and are now chatting with different security agencies. “On the same day a passenger from Egypt Air flight 0879 came forward to claim ownership of the goods together with another individual, that was how the arrest was made,” he added. http://thewillnigeria.com/politics/8131-Update-INEC-Postpone-NASS-Election-Again-Source-GEJ-Insists-Poll.html |

Heads will roll in INEC soon, Jega tells RECs Yusuf Alli 06/04/2011 00:48:00 WHO got the contracts to supply the ballot papers for the general elections? The question arose, following Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) chairman Prof. Attahiru Jega’s cancellation of last Saturday’s National Assembly elections because one of the contractors failed to deliver. The ballot papers contractors are: Tip 3, a Spanish company; Graphic Inline (Gi); Kalamazoo; Aero-Vote; IV Solutions and San Frano, a German/Polish company. . . . For hours yesterday, Jega told Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) that heads would roll soon in the commission. He asked all the RECs to account for the ballot papers for the botched National Assembly elections in their custody. The Nation learnt that the meeting had barely begun when RECs protested to Jega on how they were exposed to danger last Saturday when they were asked to conduct the poll when ballot papers had not arrived. A source at the meeting, who spoke in confidence, said: “The RECs related their dilemma last Saturday and urged the INEC chairman to address the communication gap during such last-minute preparations for any election. “Some of them claimed that were it not for tact and diplomacy, there would have been violence in some states. “The RECs in Adamawa and Taraba states said up till now, they have not received any consignment of ballot papers for Saturday elections. “For the umpteenth time, Jega apologised to RECs and he repeatedly said: ‘I take responsibility for all the observations and lapses you have noticed.’ But shortly after apologising, the source quoted Jega as saying: “Heads will roll soon in this commission as we will no longer tolerate laxity. “We have had enough of this nonsense and we will take drastic measures to put things right.” The source claimed that Jega later directed all the RECs to “account for ballot papers issued to them last Friday on local government basis to determine the number of ballot papers used.” As at press time, the stock-taking of the ballot papers was still in progress. Another source added: “From the stock-taking so far, both Jega and the RECs have based their projections on ballot papers for Saturday poll on about 85 per cent turn out. With that, we may not need to make contingency arrangement to print fresh ballot papers. “I think we can go ahead with the poll with what we have now. There is no cause for alarm on the sufficiency of ballot papers. “Going by past elections, we have always had 10 per cent redundancy in terms of voting and materials used.” The source also confirmed that about 150million ballot papers for the presidential elections (75m each for the actual poll and run-off) are being expected on Thursday. But as INEC was tidying up yesterday, there were indications yesterday that those opposed to Jega within the government circle had raised issues on why only companies with Northern representatives were awarded ballot papers contracts. It was learnt that six companies actually secured contracts for ballot papers and result sheets. http://thenationonlineng.net/web3/news/32923.html |
The man didn't see any purpose in holding a rally in Nigeria's biggest city (or the South in general). So whats the so called "train" he's taking to Lagos after campaigns are over? |
^ The elections failed because, vital documents didn't make it to the polling stations, so Buhari's argument is not the smartest. JaaizTech:Lol! Do you know what they call firing OP? Who is dicrediting Jega? There isn't anything here suggesting that is there? The fact is the election was a colosal failure and a security threat; I'm sure you don't read that as success. This thread is about 3rd parties and dark forces. Legitimate questions are being asked about whose interests the failure served and which Nigerians fronted for the "foreign companies" that botched the printing contracts. Also, questions are being asked about when (or even if) Jega knew about the problems. |
Why don't you test it yourself in your sitting room? Nonsense. ![]() |
OAM4J:Thats funny, dude. A cabal is a cabal anywhere. They are fully in control of CPC and Buhari is a mere passenger, keep your ear to the ground. Haven't you heard of the numerous meetings Buhari has been having with the Ciroma's and Northern Stakehoders? Use google and restrict the result to ACN's paper, the nation. . . For a "healthy" dose of goose bumps. ![]() |
seal777:It is better for non-SS people to worry about their own areas, than for them to cry us crocodile tears in Hausa, Fulani or any other non-SS language. GEJ has promised even more than true federalism and we've heard it. He isn't like Buhari that talks glibly of true federalism, but can't even grasp its simplest concepts; the man promises true federalism, yet says the FG under him will keep full control of PHCN and be 100% in charge of building all power plants (he didn't even do the math to see the impossibility). |
OAM4J:Do a little research and you'll find you are fighting for the cabal now. LOL!!! Find out where Turai, Ruma, Aliero etc now all are. ![]() Bros! Unu go wound me o! ![]() |
Why would anyone want to derail a thread which exposes such stupidity of some of you people? Nigerians a very brilliant and sharp. A person who could be tricked into nominating a INEC chairman as the thread's topic suggests, does not deserve the position of the President of our great country. We don't need any mumu as our head of state. You are making it easier for undecided folks to write GEJ off.
This is very simple minded indeed! A cursory read through the article paints the following scenario: A bunch of devious folk went lobbying in the US embassy, as is the case with our politicians. Now, the US is a very important Nigerian ally, with very strong security (FBI helping in Jos, Abuja etc) and economic ties; in fact you could say that the US is Nigeria's formost friend. Jonathan (or any other Nigerian President) would always give the US full ear. Any politician lobbying for Jega's name to be pushed would have had machinery in place to pull Jega's strings from afar. And if they managed to fool the US, then the rest was easy. Let us remember that the group in question had structures on the ground from Yar Adua's govt - CPC is 90% ex-PDP and ALL of the cabal has now moved into CPC. IBB and Atiku are only holding space, their supporters moved into CPC after the PDP primaries. Buhari himself, is just a mere puppet dancing to tunes the cabal is playing. |
BIGER BOY:The only thing that counts for Jega is his integrity, which is well above the Nigerian norm. As for intelligence, those at the top of the political game in any country, tend to be among the smartest; so Jega's intelligence might not carry him very far in that setting. Lets recall that his aluta was against the soldiers of old, and frankly, most had nothing upstairs. If we are talking about plots that include the US embassy, then we cannot draw parallels with govts the like of Abacha's. |
They are building housing estates, not towns. The Minister is just exagerating. It isn't even the FG doing the building directly: Speaking at the ground breaking ceremony of the N2.46bn Okaka Phase II Housing Estate funded by the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria, FMBN, in Yenagoa, the Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Mr. Nduese Essien, assured the people of Bayelsa State of the preparedness of President Goodluck Jonathan to right the wrongs of the past. |

Lift your game, I don't do ethnic bigotry and, matter of fact me and GEJ are not of the same ethnicity. texazzpete:It can also easily be gleaned that GEJ is sincere in his desire for free and fair elections and has taken very tough decisions in that regard, but that is all beside the point.
May I remind those who may have forgotten about Jonathan's statements on Jega's appointment:
Dude, most people are lost as to the purpose of your post. Is Jonathans confidence in Jega and his civility in allowing the man to run a truly independent electoral commission the reason Jega couldn't deliver the elections? Your post skillfully avoids the main thrust of this thread, which is; is Jega being used for nerfarious purposes by 3rd parties? Answer that question please. |
daroz:Thanks for the respect, bro. Its very much appreciated. Usai! I will never vote for the likes of Buhari, because we will all be locked up for using NL. In the past, Buhari made speaking the truth a crime, so far as govt found it embarrassing. Very frightful indeed! I shudder when I find those who should know better rooting for Buhari, as Wole Soyinka says, the nation should be visting a psychiatrist for even considering the man. ONE of the most odious attacks on freedom of the press in the history of military rule and indeed the history of journalism practice in Nigeria must be the notorious Decree 4 of 1984. It was a vengeful decree designed by maniacal military leaders not only to silence freedom of expression and of the press but also to silence the truth. Some media commentators had argued, in the heydays of the decree, that its enactment signaled the desire of the creators to intimidate the Nigerian press from carrying out its social role in society: that is, to act as a check on government and as a watchdog of society. Muhammadu Buhari and Tunde Idiagbon, the former military head of state and his "Man Friday" who endorsed Decree 4, used the decree to impose the most restrictive anti-press freedom laws in Nigeria. Decree 4 was designed to shield Buhari and his minions from being accountable to the Nigerian people. The intent of the decree was clear -- to silence opinion, speculation and even the truth.http://www.nigerdeltacongress.com/carticles/confessions_of_a_prosecutor.htm |
Pataki:Forget about Beaf, and deal with the topic. I thought you claimed to have brains, or was it just another wicked rumour? The truth is that you cannot cope, thats why your mouth is always as foul as something from the gutter. Refine yourself. |
oyb:Most times, I wonder if you have any sense. What has Jega's being an honourable person got to do with his choice as INEC chair being influenced by 3rd parties? The article is about Jega being used, it says absolutely nothing about his honour. So why are you so desperately veering off topic, and going on about what Beaf said? How about what Alhaji Hamman said? Director General of the Buhari Presidential Campaign Council, Dr. Sule Yahaya Hamma, who was in attendance at the meeting . . .“revealed intimating Mallam Adamu Ciroma (of the Northern Political Leaders’ Forum, NPLF) that it was not Mr. President that nominated Jega for the INEC appointment.”Dude, you're always like an aimless and loud racket; sit back and think for sometimes. |
