So what happened to the coming together of the religious extremist and the drug baron (Buhari and Tinubu)? Two useless men, birds of a feather flock together. Fresh Air 2011!!! |
Katsumoto:You can have corruption in true federalism, but representation of the citizen will be so much greater that it would dilute the possibility of corruption to the barest minimum. One thing for you to really consider, is that there is no country half as big or as complex as Nigeria that practices a unitary system of govt. Unitary govt is suited to smaller, more ethnically and religiously homogenous countries. Another thing to have in mind, is the fact the there is no unitary govt the World over, that distributes money from the centre; it is always from the provinces and municipalities upward. Just as there are oil resources in some parts of the country, so there are gold, uranium, precious stones etc in other parts. What will change will be the way revenues and ownership are apportioned; under true federalism, there will no longer be one almighty, corruption attracting owner (FG), rather wealth centres will be distributed and corruption diluted. |
superboi:Anything from the beer palour should be regarded as such, and the propagator treated like a rumour monger. It is irritating to read arguments that one would expect from a guguru seller when info costs nothing. Any knowledgable watcher of Ivorian politics will tell you that France owns huge swathes of the economy. They don't need to fight for it, neither do they need to back rebels. To gain what? Fight for what is already theirs? You aren't making sense my brother. All France wants in that country is peace, they actually don't give a damn whether Outtara or Gbagbo is in power, but they surely care that Gbagbo is destroying the peace. That pretty much sums up the French position. |
EzzyIzzy:That is a roundabout argument. There is punishment for corruption in Nigeria, there are laws and there is a constitution. If these are not being adhered to, it is because the system allows or even encourages such breaches. Nobody is born corrupt, the system IS inefectual and was designed by corrupt generals so they could continue to milk the economy after they had left power. In Lagos you have given as an example, Fashola has completely changed the system to get a few things working (the emphasis is on "few" . It would require a total systemic change to get Lagos to operate even at West African standards; outside West Africa (talkless of the West), the organisation of Lagos is a disgrace, there is still a very long way to go.Improve the system and you kill corruption. The sharing of free money at Abuja is the number one reason for our shabby values. We need true federalism that will allow the people to actually generate money. Nigeria is a total embarrassment as far as development is concerned, we are an absolute disgrace. |
Atta mills is an Idi.ot.he's concerned about only ghanians fleeing Ivory coast while ivoriens are being killed by forces loyal to Gbagbo daily. what has he done in his capacity to resolve the issue ? Has he gone to ivory coast to talk Gbagbo into stepping down ? useless he-goat
Exactly. |
superboi:Get your facts straight. Outtara never started any war, that is beer palour nonsense. I hate it when ignorant people just spread falsehoods willfully. What makes you think the South is in any position to take on the North militarily, have you read anything about the war and the few days it took the rebels to capture the territory they hold in the North and at the Liberian border? For your info, it was France that stopped them taking over the whole country by blocking all rebel routes to Abidjan. The right thing to do when you have no clue is to sit back and learn, not shout about things you are ignorant about, but other folk are very conversant with. Its damn irritating. |
asha 80:The mafia controls practically every aspect of life in Italy and almost every top politician has mafia connections (though less so than in the 90's). The Sicilian Mafia has had influence in 'legitimate' power, particularly under the corrupt Christian Democratic governments from the 50's-early 90's. It has had influence with lawyers, financiers, and professionals; also it has had power and resources by bribing or pressuring politicians, judges and administrators. It has less of these now than previously on the heels of the Maxi-Trials, the campaign by magistrates Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino and other actions against corrupt politicians and judges; however it retains some influence.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Organized_crime_in_Italy |
EKONGKING:Cos you are a dunce. They are a nuclear power and we can't manufacture a pin, yet you ask daft questions? They build missiles, yet we can't make a calculator and you are pointing fingers? Is this why you made the rude rquest on the other thread that I come here? With due respect, the question you asked is quite dim. |
Kalu Akanu:Thanks for the flattery dude. ![]() As for the immense bloodshed Gbagbo is promising, there will not be much. his army is really poor, they have no airforce and little more than a couple of speedboats as their navy. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/4/49/NNS_Aradu_F89.jpg As I said elswhere, when they see NNS Aradu, it will be like the second coming of Jesus! ![]() |
Sad to say, it is 100% true. If corruption was a hinder to development, Italy with their mafia, would be wretchedly poor. Our problem is with our structure. We are a damn lazy country that is pretending to be a federal govt, while practising a unitary system, because we don't want to work. we just want others to drill our oil, ship it, refine it, sell it back to us; while we take monthly trips to Abuja to share oil money. We lack true federalism and we lack the strong institutions and competition it would bring. Several cities of the World (including the likes of Buernos Aires in Argentina) produce more money than the whole of Nigeria. |
Dede1:Is this a joke? |
Kalu Akanu:France is not interested in military action. The only reason they are mentioned now is because Gbagbo has lost the election and is clutching at straws. In his 10 years as President, it is instructive to note that he didn't lift a pin to reduce Frances influence in Ivory Coast; but as soon as he loses elections, he recalls the French presence. |
Kalu Akanu:Everyone that cares about facts would care. For your info, France aready has the troops to do whatever they wish in Ivory Coast with minimal to zero loss (it took them less than an hour to destroy the entire Ivorian air force when Gbago killed 9 of their soldiers). They surely dont need West African troops. There is nothing more pathetic than people blaming local failures of the sort of shocking scale as in Ivory Coast on neo-colonialism. france didn't make Gbagbo into the demon and monster he is. |
Kalu Akanu:In the past, Outtara has been both Prime Minister and Acting President. So, how come he is suddenly no longer Ivorian? In the past, those differences did not exist, why have they flourished so much that they led to a civil war? The simple answer is that Gbagbo and his cronies have perfected a means to turn the Ivorian people on themselves for their personal benefit, the divisions are completely artificial and diabolic. The country is only separated along religious and ethnic lines because Konon Bedie (who took over from Houphouët-Boigny) decided to maintain his incredibly corrupt govt by writing the Ivority apartheid policy into the constitution (in order to disqualify his strongest opponent, who just happened to be Outtara). He was overthrown by Guei, who continued from where Bedie had stopped. Guei held elections, lost, but refused to leave; he got killed by Gbagbo's people, and Gbagbo is today flying the apartheid Ivorite policy and blaming France. Gbagbo has so much blood on his hands that he deserves to be shot like a dog. |
All those who write "Quattarra" have no clue about Ivory Coast. The mans name is Outarra, it doesn't start with Q. "Quattarra" seems to be a name that was developed and carried by hearsay right here on NL. If you don't even know the mans name, whats your business arguing? |
Kalu Akanu:Do you know the history of Ivory Coast? It seems you don't. Have you ever heard of the Ivority policy? It is apartheid imposed on fellow blacks, and a total shame to all Africans. I don't even feel like providing any links, because I feel every African owes themself a duty to be totally clued up on what is going on in Ivory Coast before commenting. When Gbagbo spent 5 years in exile in France, did he know the West was bad? When French troops saved his govt by stopping tremendously fast rebel advance during the civil war, did Gbagbo think they were bad? Is it France that is going about and marking peoples houses so they can be executed at night, because they belong to Ouatarra's ethnic group? Is it France that made Gbagbo pursue the Ivority policy? It is very important to be informed about such matters. Gbagbo is a demon, a monster that needs to be exterminated. |
The only way to cut govt spending is the adoption of true federalism, it is the only way to ensure diversification of the economy and an end to our upside down govt where states and LG's go to Abuja for money, instead of the other way round. The terrifying weakness of our economy is displayed in all its stark unclothedness, with the FG using up 80% of the budget for salaries and the like. It is an unsustainable situation. These things are hardwired in the constitution, therefor; all our past military rulers (except Abdusalami) should be lined up and shot. ![]() They created our current structural problems and handed us a constituition that is an enbarrassment to read. |
The despotic Gbagbo and his primitive thugs will stop marking the houses of people from other ethnic groups at night when they see this: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/4/49/NNS_Aradu_F89.jpg They mark the houses of "enemy" ethnic groups and kill them at night, while blaiming the West for causing Ivorian problems! Force has a way of raising the IQ score of the lowest neanderthals. Gbagbo will flee or commit sucide. |
Well nice to see .NET guys here. But i have something that i will like u guys to let me know. Most time when u visit institution to start a programming course, they will usually blow the trumpet for java more than .NET language telling you that Java runs on all platform which is right anyway. but i am reluctant in learning the Java thing but choose to do the .NET. Ok i have seen a lot of desktop application write with .NET even VB6 used by big firms in Nigeria, but i hardly see any one written in Java language Will i be right if i assume this. Please let me know your minds on this
If you are writing software for Sun Solaris, Mac OS, HP-UX etc, then the (somewhat inaccurate) argument that Java runs everywhere holds. However, if your product and clientele fall within the 91% of users running Windows, then you do not need Java. 91% isn't a small percentage. |
I would strongly advise anybody getting into the rich to overflowing .NET World to embrace C#. VB.NET is a dying language. One more thing, you do not have to buy Microsoft products like Visual Studio and SQL Server. You can get most things done with the Express versions which are all FREE! http://www.microsoft.com/express/ I don't know if this works in Nigeria though, but if you are a student, you can get bucket loads of FREE software (Visual Studio, SQL Server, Windows Server 2008 etc) from: https://www.dreamspark.com/default.aspx |
blacksta:Fools console themselves with all sorts of deceptions, all because for some primeval reason, you hate Nigeria and her President. Seriously, you are so donkey brained that I wonder if hours of grazing has ruined the already pathetic quantity of grey matter in your skull. Dude, brain transplants are going free these days in many research centres around the World. As a bonus, it would no doubt interest curious scientists how such a dumb creature like yourself can manage to exist, they would love to research your abject lack of intelligence; and who knows what the result might be? Man might actually learn to converse with monkey. |
Vigilante:I see you haven't given up and like Atiku, you are still looking for ways to win the already won primaries. Sad. Here I am, laughing at you. |
Eziachi:Rumour. |
GenBuhari:That is the first step to legalising open contempt of the laws of the land, contempt for democracy, kidnapping, hijacking, and armed robbery. Buhari committed every single one of those crimes when he overthrew a democratic govt to cover tracks to NNPC's missing $2.8billion; tracks that led directly to his Midland Bank London fixed deposit account. Holding the nation at gunpoint is a crime, overthrowing the govt is treason, shooting people based on backdated laws is murder. Added to the above is Buhari's wish to propagate sharia across the entire nation. There is nobody less unsuitable to lead the country than Gen. Buhari. Nigeria has become a vultures paradise and a betrayal to the youth, because of violent lawbreakers like him. Enough! |
@Beaf, cjfavour said you lied, you protested and he said he is sorry. You then insinuated that his morals may be lacking and he responded in kind. You are now using his response to your response, as an excuse to stop conversing with him. How convenient! Why can't you just accept his apology and continue to answer his questions? Do I detect you chickening out of possible superior arguments or debating points? If so, that is not typical of you, but I can understand why you'd rather not answer cjfavour's questions.
So where you come from people apologise by repeating the insult? Please add to the topic if you have something and stop stoking fights, its cheap. What point are you debating? Is it about GEJ, Chris Okotie, Mr Ovation, Ribadu, or Buhari? |
cjfavour:I don't want to converse with you. Na fight? |
cjfavour:You simply have no clue. We were having something of an intelligent debate without abuse before you barged in. Please allow people who know how things work and have better morals to engage, I have been put off by your gutter behaviour. |
cjfavour:Maybe you do not realise it is a grave insult to accuse anybody of lying, why not accuse me of stealing too? As for all the things you want within a nine month period, you are living in dreamland. How can a mere mortal not only re-equip the police, but also retrain them in a mere 9 months in office? Take a sober read of all the things you demand be done in a mere 9 months and then sit down and weep, because you really do not understand how the World works. Trowe dat tin you are drinking jare, it is disturbing you! Even if Aso Rock was in Okija shrine, your list would not be possible. |
