MaziUche0:Thanks. Thats the way it is. Sad ain't it? @topic oyb wants all ND people to be sent to the gas chamber. The tribalistic fcker isn't qualified to talk about this issue. oyb: disgusting and ridiculous melodrama. i always knew beaf had some sort of romantic persecution complex. i can see all those nders being rounded up in cattle cars and sent to the gas chamber https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-464527.32.html#msg6238782 |
oyb:Shut your fcking trap. Let respectable people speak, those who are not your type of loud bastar'd and who truly care for the souls lost today. oyb wants all ND people to be sent to the gas chamber. It was a sad loss of life. It seems doubtless that the attack was carried out by the real MEND, because they have replied to emailed questions. MEND is claiming responsibility,” Jomo Gbomo, a spokesman for the group, said in an e-mailed response to questions today. The militants “regret any loss of life, which could have been prevented if the authorities had not ignored our warning and evacuated the area when they had ample time to do so,” he said.http://www.businessweek.com/news/2010-10-01/nigerian-rebels-claim-abuja-blast-that-killed-eight.html And for those who argue ortherwise, MEND is NOT classified as a terrorist group anywhere in the West. For example, they are simply classified as a group of interest by the US state dept. |

slap1:Dude, practising true federalism is the only way to solve Nigeria's problems. GEJ has already started the necessary mechanisms for that by slowly creating situations that empower LG's and states (eg allowing LG's to generate power). IBB has talked about the same thing (but may God punish his mouth). There have also been cries from various sections of the citizenry and states for true federalism, the tempo has recently increased with calls for state police after the Abia debacle. Gradually, the realisation will dawn on all sections of the country that true federalism is the only way forward. |
I roundly condemn the sad loss of lives today of all days in Abuja. May their souls rest is peace. @oyb Isn't it a pity that you can refer to MaziUche as a "handicapped bigot," whereas we know where all your anti- ND crap is coming from. If anyone on NL is a bigoted tribalist, it is yourself. In words that can only be comparable to the worst of Nazi's, you once aired your wish to see all ND people headed into cattle cars and gassed; oyb: disgusting and ridiculous melodrama. i always knew beaf had some sort of romantic persecution complex. i can see all those nders being rounded up in cattle cars and sent to the gas chamber https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-464527.32.html#msg6238782 You are nothing but an unrefined wretch, who is as loud as he is foolish, who is as gutter bred as he is evil minded and equipped with the mind of a cockroach. |
Abagworo:Seriously, if not for EzeUche, I might never have heard of Ngwa and how much they are despised, desliked or hated. Sad really, nobody should go through that. @Abagworo I don't know whether to beg you to stop telling the story of Abia or continue. It is about the most horrible account of decay and slide into anarchy I have ever heard. Its incredible beyond words that a state in a modern country can rush toward the abyss and spiral out of control so drastically. Jesus! |
zapaa:Despair and hate are totally different things. What is expressed by most here is despair and it is right to be in despair about Nigeria, because it is only after we acknowledge the wrong that we can begin building the right. |
I think it is worth it. yea things aren't perfect but the only other option we have is the Noah's Ark approach which is to start over from scratch and how is that even possible? we may end up repeating the same mess on an even grander scale. yea it's a colonial legacy but so is the language we're typing in and probably the clothes you're wearing. let's encourage what we have. Nigeria should definitely remain one piece. Happy Independence Day to you.
Thanks and Happy Independence Day to you too. ![]() I am certainly not thankful for the fact that I converse in English or wear foreign clothes, because there isn't much benefit to those things. My fear is that after 50 years, we are still yet to have the basic things that make a nation. It seems we've just been wandering in circles for half a century. In our 50th year, the biggest political issue is neither ideology no manifesto, no! It is zoning. After 50 years, we still suffer epileptic power supply, with our output per person standing at 43 times less than the Global standard. Zimbabwe, on the other hand, which is the object of many a Nigerians scorn, produces a full 6 times what the average Nigerian gets. I believe that we must sit down in a National Conference to fashion out a framework for the Nigerian contraption to succeed and begin firing on all cylinders. We need a framework that will spell out the responsibilities of the Nigerian state to citizen and region and in the reverse, the responsibilities of citizen and region to the Nigerian state. Right now, every definition of the word, “Nigerian” is muddled and that reflects in the chaotic nature of our land. It is not possible for the citizen to be patriotic, when a person does not know their duties toward the country and how the country reciprocates. We need to sit and chart a watertight way forward, especially now we have clocked 50. |
Ibime:They themselves have announced that they are rearming. You'll need an account to view the full article here; http://www.africaintelligence.com/AEM/government-strategies/2010/09/29/weapons-build-up-in-delta%2C85584032-BRE-login |
Well the day has come at last! 50 years as a piece of land striving to become a nation. 50 years of tribalism, sectionalism, corruption and foolishness. In our short history, we have produced on Nobel Laureate and one international terrorist. Blessings have been mixed. Let us spend time here to talk about a way forward. Should we remain one, or should we split? How do we industrialise? If we decide to remain one, what should be the political structure of the country? How do we establish, fairness and equity for all individuals and ethnic groups. How do we entrench autonomy for our various regions and sections? How do we determine what our new regions and sections should be? There are a lot of questions to ponder as we cross the 50 year mark, so let the debate begin.

manugbo:Take care of yourself and keep safe. Your state governor is the chief security officer. He is 100% to blame for the situation in Abia. Is this not the fcker doing rituals in this video, when he should have been attending to the state? If a governor is a ritualist, why won't kidnappers be welcome in his state? [flash=480,385] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IR63c-6kmME?fs=1[/flash] |
manugbo: manugbo:Dude, nobody can see you or anybody else. Thanks for the updates. |
janus05:Na wa o! ![]() This is really funny to me. Do you really think juju can win elections? |
Any report by Sahara Reporters must be taken as a lie. However, MEND has been rearming at a fearful rate. We need to pray. |
Laugh don kill me ooooo, God bless United State of Nigheria and our first lady .
So you actually laugh when people make racial slurs against you? Wonders shall never end! |

afam4eva:Okocha is a good footballer, but Kanu Nwanko symbolises much more. He has shown how a young man can overcome all odds to reach the highest pinnacle of his career; Kanu has a defective heart, but rather than give up, has gone on to inspire many. Aside from Kanu being an icon for younger ones to look up to, he has displayed a really big heart with his heart foundation with its state of the art medical care facilities for underpriviledged youth. The Kanu Nwankwo Heart Foundation is a charity organisation established by the Nigerian International and English Premier League football striker, Nwankwo Kanu (a.k.a Papilo) -MON, OON, who is also a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador. The foundation was established in 2000, to help underprevileged African children and young adults, living with different heart ailments in Nigeria and other African countries respectively, obtain the cardiac surgical operations needed.http://www.kanuheartfoundationng.com/ |
9ijaMan:Dude, you expose ignorance each time you make this wicked statement. Do you know or care why MEND was formed? In case you don't, I'll sum it up for you. Bayelsa was the most deprived patch of Nigeria despite the area producing 30% of Nigeria's oil, it wasn't even connected to the national grid (NEPA) until 2006. You need to clean up your mouth, cos your utterances are very unwise. If you had a case of mismanagement in Bayelsa against Jonathan, it would be different, but you are here laughing at people who have been deprived in such an evil way by the federal govt. Laugh on, there is the law of karma. |
janus05:The discussion is now farcical. Juju ke?! Please lets keep it mature. Next thing, we'll hear that Uncle Joe's cap na jass! |
homerac7:Abeg, go sidon jare! ![]() Anyways, after the 2011 election, or after all traces of IBB have been removed from the electoral landscape, everything will return to normal. |
jabbok:You really need to check the character deficiencies that make you attack personality rather than topic. |
bawomolo:Stop shifting the goalposts. It is about giving to the needy and needy people will always exist (as shown in a developed country like the USA). And yes, our management skills are thoroughly pathetic. It will take years to fix things, no matter how well things are planned, we would still have the same rotten security services to handle things. There were also failures in Patience Jonathans women's association. |
TewMuch:The first example I gave with Mitchelle was of a US govt sponsored food kitchen. https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-522694.32.html#msg6850787 |
jabbok:I guess you don't know the meaning of the word, "donate." The bolded captures the essence of all I have been saying, so it is quite foolish for either you or bawomolo to pretend they cannot understand it and try to tell me what I have been telling you; the organisation was a sham. Do you need glasses to read that? However, though the organisation was ridiculous to almost negligence levels, the thought behind the gesture was good and for many, the rice was a Godsend. |
jabbok:In your hurry to get personal (as usual), you seem not to have taken the time out to read all I wrote. What part of the word "organisation" don't you understand? Once again, the gift of rice is laudable, but things really need to be better organised. We will only begin to attain proper degrees of organisation when learn to see the good in doing things properly and above all, get exposure. You display the same sort of scrambling mentality in rushing to get personal and not tackling the issue at hand. Here's one about Obama giving out free food, the difference is in our terrible approach to organisation; Obamas volunteer at D.C. soup kitchenMore here http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2010/jan/18/obamas-volunteer-dc-soup-kitchen/?page=1 |
jabbok:Let my personality not be your business, tackle the issue at hand like a mature mind. The idea of soup kitchen is to give free food to the poor, exactly as Patience Jonathan did. Learn what a soup kitchen is, before arguing about its function. All the people that go to soup kitchens are the wretched of the Earth, they are poverty stricken, hungry and most times homeless; you need to get some exposure before making such ridiculous arguments. |
dustydee:That is why I said we need to be better organised. The thought of distributing rice to the needy is laudable, but the organisation was a sham. Things need to be done better next time. |
tensor777:Have you actually sat back to medidate and then come to the realisation that, all of Nigeria's problems are due to this sort of cut and nail approach? cmespeak:You have raised a lot of issue's here. The first and most important being; why do Nigerians instinctively reach for the army when there are much more sensible, straightforward and efficient ways of acheiving the same goal? If we follow this question logically, we will dig up a lot of questions that will expose several trauma nad self esteem issues in the average Nigerian. Have so many years of military rule, so traumatised the average man that every solution must involve overwhelming force? When neighbours fight, the one that has military connections wins; when there are minor accidents on our roads, the person with military connections slaps the other; when we have situations that call us to aggitate for the total overhaul and rebirth of the police, we are satisfied with a token military presence. Why is it that something as simple as triangulation of mobile calls hasn't been employed, rather we ask the army to roll in with tanks? |
And this is Obama himself, organising food to give out free. Its the thought that counts. http://my.barackobama.com/page/community/post_group/ObamaNHHQ/CxKM https://my.barackobama.com/page/-/NH%20Blog/BOThanks4.jpg |
The giveaway of rice direct to the downtrodden was in good faith and is to be lauded. Everywhere in the World, govts give food directly to the poor, it isn't anything new, it was just done badly. There should have been better organisation, so its a pity about the scramble. Organisation must be improved upon in any follow up event. One thing is certain though, the fact that common sense broke down and there was a mad scramble only goes to show how dire the situation of the man on the street is. most people on NL eat what they want when they want, but the story of the average man is quite different. The picture below, shows Michelle Obama serving at a US govt funded soup kitchen, where free food is given to the poor. . . Same concept, just much better done from decades of practice. We just need to clean up our organisation and Nigeria will get there. http://www.snopes.com/photos/politics/soupkitchen.asp
