Beaf. That electricity is 3X or 4X the price of the alternatives when generated by solar in say the US should suggest that it isn't going to be economically feasible in Africa either.

It isn't as if we get 3X or 4X the sun in Africa as they do in the US. There aren't 60 or 70-something hours in an African day, lol
Abeg, you've been talking rubbish since morning and giving reasons to remain lazy. "3X or 4X the sun in Africa" Indeed! Where is this "Arica?"
And why do you think you need to bloody transmit your solar energy? Why can it not be to power your AC?

People are loud and daft.

What a fool! You said you couldn't make money with solar. You said you couldn't do business, even when I showed that many of those who go abroad end up with mental issues. You wanna make money? I've shown you ways, but you are giving excuses to remain eternally lazy!

I've shown you the way someone is doing it India and you can only think foolishly about your fridge instead of thinking about what villages you can take the idea too, so you can make money without awuf.

Dude, why can your tv, fridge, pc etc not run on solar energy sef? Isn't it just because you are phucking mentally and physically lazy? The sun is out there burning holes in your damn skull everyday, yet you aren't ashamed to say you cannot think up any use for it. Yet you are an engineer? shocked shocked shocked

Oyb, can you make a common pepper grinder? What a lazy fool!

oyb: oga afro pseudoscience, are you so daft, stoopid or just like your master that cannot counter anything i posted?

all across the world, solar energy is heavily subsidised because everyone is hoping it will pan out in the long run.

see beafs solar powered boat solution

this is what the joker thinks will work on an industrial scale

this is the sort of roadside consultantcy we can expect from beaf

i mean come on, the only thing the likes of beaf can be consulted on is internet smear campaigns of the crude beer parlour fishwife kind "gej good ogbeni bad!"
Lol! Can anybody believe this fool is an engineer? Anyway, you must have gone to the same school as becomerich and studied "electricity engineering!"
Can anybody imagine someone calling himself and engineer, yet he is afraid of solar energy. The twerp has to lie and compare Nigeria near the Sahara to England near the North Pole!!!! grin

I've had a serious dose of comedy this morning!

Oyb engineer, can you even make a pepper grinder? grin

The best oyb can do is give excuses for his stup!dity and lack of imagination by name dropping when enough proof has been provided of his mental laziness. I didn't even know the clown was an engineer until ekt bear mentioned it. What a pity! cry
If some engineers act the fool and are blind to creativity, what hope is there for the country?

Here is another tale from India where some are free to be creative and not dream of Abuja oil or how to buy an air ticket to go and suffer like fools abroad with the high chance of ending up in a mental home as I posted (with proof) earlier. Many Nigerians are running mad abroad out of this foolish lack of imagination and inability to harness what is under our noses.

Imagine ekt bear posted stuff that mostly had to do with Europe and the US, yet he was talking about solar energy. Oyb has stup!dly posted extracts to show that solar energy is not cheap in the UK. Why would it be when snow falls there? shocked
Some people are abysmally unimaginative and low self-esteemed. Why else would anyone compare solar energy in a temprate climate with that in a tropical one. Isn't that daft and mentally lazy?

Indian villagers' lives transformed by new energy delivery system

A social enterprise is providing low-cost mobile-charging and light services through micro grids in Uttar Pradesh, enabling the poorest to cease relying on kerosene – and to stay connected

...

But it is here in Uttar Pradesh, one of India's largest and poorest states, far away from the country's straining power grid, that US-born entrepreneurs Nikhil Jaisinghani and Brian Shaad have started to pioneer a wholly different energy system, designed to meet some of the most basic needs of the poorest.

Their company, Mera Gao Power (MGP), provides ultra-low cost lighting and mobile phone charging services to individual houses by building and operating solar-powered micro grids at a village level.

Each household that signs up to their service receives two LED lights and one mobile-charging point in their home at a cost of 25 rupees (£0.301) per week. The setup cost is an additional one-off payment of 40 rupees (£0.48). "This is the kind of price point that the majority of them can afford," Sandeep Pandey, MGP's operations manager, explained.

The benefits of these simple services for a village household are multiple. The lights not only allow individuals to work after dark, providing additional time for activities that generate income, but they permit extra time for children to study.

It is all largely down to economies of scale, says Jenny Chase, head of solar analysis at BNEF. In 2011, enough solar panels were produced worldwide to generate 27 gigawatts, compared with 7.7 GW in 2009. Chase says solar power is now cheaper than diesel "anywhere as sunny as Spain". That means vast areas of Latin America, Africa and Asia could start adopting solar power. "We have been selling to Asia and the Middle East," says Björn Emde, European spokesman for Suntech, the world's largest producer of silicon panels. Over the next few years he expects to add South Africa and Nigeria to that list.
http://www.newscientist.com/article/mg21328505.000-indias-panel-price-crash-could-spark-solar-revolution.html

This will help some people think. A little more thought will show them how to do it even cheaper and avoid an air ticket to madness in the West.
As usual, foreigners see it before the lazy fools that are quick to groan and grimmace.

I really pity the state of Nigerian minds. It is disgraceful.

Solar energy is cheap and has a tousand uses except to the unimaginative. We seem to have an abundance of that type in Nigeria.

Lol! Oyb is giving a really graphic display of the twin evils bedevilling many Nigerians:

1. Mental laziness (awuf culture)
2. Low self esteem

Both these things are a killer of progress and creativity. A man has abundance of sunlight shining on his head (by the way, govt didn't put it there), yet wonders what to do with it?
Strangely, in much colder climes many folk find ways to harness solar energy. What is wrong with many Nigerians? How will the oyb's ever become inventive and productive? It's like this cadre is mere a pack of leaches, looking for the nearest host.
I keep asking, what if Nigeria didn't have oil? Wouldn't the oyb's have been forced by their groaning bellies to be more creative and mentally active?

Katsumoto: Beaf

You are simplifying the process of starting a business in Nigeria. Its a lot more difficult than you are making it to be.

Please pick one of the examples you gave and provide a high level overview of the process involved in starting up. Assume the entrepreneur is a graduate with 3 years post qualification experience.

I suspect you are raising all these points about Nigerians being lazy, etc simply to absolve the government of significant blame in the whole mess.

Nigerian governments of the past have failed, the current government is also failing. No amount of passing the buck can mask that.
Abeg, pay me consultancy fee fes! grin

Foreign Affairs › Re: Why Is England More Developed And Stable Than America? by Beaf: 6:24am On May 27, 2012
I see the usual pigs and lazy fools like oyb cannot think. It takes a special sort of lazy fool to equate solar energy with solar cells.
Again, it boils down to the inferiority complex I talked about. People think the only way of doing things is the way the white man has done it.
There are a thousand ways to harness solar energy and a thousand purposes outside electricity.

Many Nigerians are indeed a problem.
Foreign Affairs › Re: Why Is England More Developed And Stable Than America? by Beaf: 6:04am On May 27, 2012
Katsumoto: You mentioned precious stones, waterways, solar energy, etc. All those require huge capital. Perhaps I am mistaken; please break it down how all those industries dont require huge capital. For instance, how do you mine precious stones without huge capital?

BTW, I see that you are trying to evade many of the points raised. grin
The bolded is an example of the laziness I am talking about. What exactly needs huge capital? You've simply taken one look at being responsible, then collapsed and died. You didn't even try to think of aspects of precious stones, waterways, solar energy that you could get into for next to free off charge.

There are many things under your nose, a very simple example is creating potable drinking water with solar energy - costs next to zero and much less than a ticket to the US (and much less than madness). Another is generating fuel/electricity from waste (you go to toilet init? grin). etc etc etc
Foreign Affairs › Re: Why Is England More Developed And Stable Than America? by Beaf: 5:57am On May 27, 2012
Katsumoto: There is a lot wrong with this post Beaf

1. The government is responsible for setting macroeconomic policies which are meant to stimulate the development and growth of industries
What about the LG's and state govts, surely they do not have nil to do?

Katsumoto: 2. Even when opportunities are identified, an entrepreneur must still make a profit. And you can only make a profit when your revenue is greater than your costs. For instance, China has 30% of global rare earth deposits but 80% of the market. Why is that? Because it is cheaper for an entrepreneur to mine rare earth in China than anywhere else. In countries where infrastructure is in a developed state, an entrepreneur is not guaranteed to make a profit let alone in a country like Nigeria where the non-existence of infrastructure increases your costs astronomically. How can an entrepreneur make a buck in a country notorious for graft, lack of power, and infrastructure?
Mining rare earth metals is generally beyond the capability of the average person, so the above does not count in an argument about personal application and sweat.
We are over enamored with minerals in Nigeria, forgetting that the mind is the most potent resource. Japan barely has any minerals, yet they are the Worlds 3rd largest economy.

Katsumoto: 3. You mentioned a lot of industries that require a lot of start up capital. How are individuals supposed to find the necessary capital to mine precious stones. Even in Germany, the government had to subsidized the firms that tap solar power to sell to the grid at above market price
Precious stones can be mined in small scale with little investment outside creating a collective to obtain a license.
People do not harness solar energy in Nigeria because of mental laziness and low self-esteem. It costs next to zero to invest in many aspects of solar energy.

Katsumoto: 4. You turned your attention to Nigerians in diaspora forgetting that there are millions of Nigerians who are still living in Nigeria below globally accepted poverty levels. Why aren’t those Nigerians taking advantage of those opportunities? You keep making these statements about Nigerians all depending on Abuja. That is not the case; travelling through Nigeria, one can see the hardship being felt by millions who get up every day to work and provide for themselves and their families but with little to show for it.
Most people lack imagination for industry and there is a pervasive inferiority complex aflicting the nation that stops people from harnessing their culture and environment because it is "local." You tell many people there is money in cassava and they want to kill you, because they lack self-belief.
The average Nigerian feels that the only way to make money is to work for govt or in a bank. They do not believe they can make money by thinking.

Katsumoto: 5. Yes there are opportunities in Nigeria but it appears that only those who are in government together with their friends and families are reaping from those benefits. Any monkey can make millions in Nigeria supplying very basic products such as toilet paper or pencil if the monkey in charge is his friend or uncle.
This is the lazy way out. You do not need to be connected to govt to make money. Its funny how whites would come all the way from Europe and the US, research into agbo, go back, payent the chemicals and make billions. Viagra is big business, while burantashi is sold by roadside mallams. Difference?

Katsumoto: 6. The Nigerian educational system has been failing the Nigerian economy and people for almost 25 years. Nothing is being done to address that. How do you expect people to see opportunities when they lack basic education. Yes there are very rare people who have the ability to make a buck even without education but other factors are at least present. How can a man strategize properly when he has to get up very early to go to work, pay through his nose for transportation, sit in traffic for hours, work for over 10 hours, return home through traffic only to find there is no electricity when he gets home. If Steve Jobs were a non-connected Nigerian, Apple would be just be a fruit.
The education system is a failure, only because of the mentality of the average Nigerian. Failure is like a living thing that breeds failure after failure. Nigerians lack organisation and the ability to think critically, what we are witnessing is the amplification of these things as they "blossom" from generation to generation. It all stems from mental laziness and low self-esteem.

Katsumoto: 7. There is no level playing field in Nigeria. The current Nigerian government, just like other governments before it, is not doing nada to address these serious issues. If you want to accuse Nigerians of being lazy or visionless, then the Nigerian government must first do its part to ensure the development of the Nigerian economy.
No one needs a level playing field to think and conseptualise. Yes, the FG needs to create a conducive environment; but that requirement falls even more on the LG and state govts. No one seems to question LG's and state govts and demand that responsibilities be met, the simple reason is the lazy mind that see's loads of money in Abuja which very strangely blinds them to the need to demand development, accountability and opportunities from their grassroots govt.

The Nigerian is a big problem.

I will advise Nigerians that it would be the gravest error of your life to up and go to the US or Europe without a water tight plan. You could very easily end up mad like very many of ours unfortunately have:

Both past and recent research suggests that some groups – notably Black Caribbean, Black African and other Black groups – are over-represented in psychiatric hospitals. [7]

The high number of African Caribbean people being diagnosed with schizophrenia is well documented, with some studies reporting between two to eight times higher rates of diagnosis compared to the White population. [8]

...

Men from Black Caribbean, Black African, and other Black groups were more likely than other groups to have been detained under the Mental Health Act 1983. The figures follow the same pattern in all the ‘Count me in’ reports from 2005 to 2009. [12]

Lazy people will never see the brimful of opportunities in their own country, but would rather blame others and make id!ots arguments that keep deviating from the topic.
Many Nigerians abroad are suffering, whereas they would have been raving successes at home for 1/10th of the self-abasement and slave sweat they have to put in abroad. Mental homes are filled with black people, because of the sheer horrors of their existence abroad.

However, people from African and African Caribbean communities, including those of white and black mixed ethnicity, can face additional problems which may affect their mental health. Everyday life has a big impact on mental health, and black communities in the UK are still more likely than others to experience problems such as bad housing, unemployment, stress and racism, all of which can make people ill.
http://www.nhs.uk/Livewell/Blackhealth/Pages/Mentalhealth.aspx

People from African and African Caribbean communities are more likely than others to be admitted to hospital for mental illness.
http://www.nhs.uk/Livewell/Blackhealth/Pages/intropage.aspx

If any of you is thinking of travelling to Europe or the US, better think twice before you start sounding frustrated and making only incoherent arguments.

There is solar energy in Nigeria - untapped.
There are waterways - untapped.
Agriculture (yes, plant yams, cassava, cocoa etc) - untapped.
Precious stones - untapped.
Interpersonal relationships - untapped.

I could fill pages with opportunities that either cost very little or nothing to go into in Nigeria. Why people are too lazy to see these things is entirely their own fault and that of their immediate environment. They have grown up to expect gifts from Abuja. It doesn't work that way.

Onlytruth: Beaf just know that ndu_chucks ONLY interest in the story is the accusation of war crimes against Biafran soldiers in the MW incursion. He honestly doesn't care about anything else. His brother Murtala Muhammad committed one of worst war crimes DOCUMENTED during the war, when he lined up thousands of men and boys at Asaba and executed them. The crime is well documented, and maybe even the direct commanders are still alive.
He wants to equalize the genocide accusation on both sides.
His game is actually more sinister. People like him can read and manipulate the big picture. I created a list above that fairly describes the modus of ndu chucks clique. He knows that unity between SE/SS is the one dog that will bite back if kicked; with such unity, the use and blackmailing of US/UK interests will be neutralised. Right now, the only thing keeping these restive sections in check is ethnic blackmail.

You would be surprised at the extent to which US/UK dovetail with those of the ndu chukses of this World. They basically own the oil business and can also make oblique threats to join al qaeda if they aren't kept sweet. Except the SE/SS strongly assert themselves with a resoundingly strong voice, the US/UK always seek security/economic advantage by playing their antagonists against them. IMHO, the SE/SS are better friends to the US/UK than the core-Northern elite, they also bear the fruits that these interested parties wish to harvest (oil). So, why can we not build up to project that?

Dede is no doubt passionate about his people; he is also passionate about blaming minoriities to the point that the bigger picture is lost. For example, he mentioned the opening of a US consulate in Kano without thinking deeply about the Nigerian jigsaw and why things are really as they are; that is a micro example of how ethnic blackmail can become a selfmade prison, people focus so much on phantom enemies that they become blind to (or even promote) the schemes of the slave driver.

I hope you don't mind the necessary edit?

Sorry, but Nigerians abroad did not travel out to save the country, so their working double has nothing to do with Nigeria. They are working double because they went abroad either ill-equipped or with no plan, but travelled with the sole purpose of improving their own lives (and none other). 90% of them would have made much more money in Nigeria with the attitude that saw them dare the odds to try out a life abroad.

In the simplest terms, the Midwests declaration of neutrality was a real poke in Nigeria's eye. Where on Earth have you heard of a country at war, yet one of its states declares it is neutral?

You and I know that Dede's claims are a fallacy, I have already pointed out the jumble in dates against events that he presented. Attacks on Biafra came from Lagos until the Midwest invasion, after which the FG recaptured Excravos and began launching attacks from there.

The Midwest too was unhappy, but being made up of minorities was unsure and simply waiting.
