^
We are not achieving anything precisely because we take stupid decisions like putting Arabic on our money, instead of concentrating on fundamental issues.

We are not achieving anything because in a secular state like ours, some idiots are pushing an Islamic toga.

We are not achieving anything because the most unproductive parts of our union want to foist their religious outlook on the rest of us.

The above are symptons of the larger problems that inflict our "nation".

This govt is just getting more and more embarrassing.
How can they be in a do or die battle with a man whose claim to glory is his fight against corruption?

In the history of Nigeria, only Abacha's govt has been worse than this one.

“Immediately I saw the publication in the papers today, I contacted the Secretary of the EFCC, Mr. Emmanuel Akonmaye, who said they would be bringing whatever they have got from the Metropolitan Police on the next working day as regards the witnesses to testify in Ibori’s case.

“I have no request on my desk in relation to these witnesses,” denying too, that he went to the United Kingdom to meet with Metropolitan Police.

The minister had stated that he went to see the UK ‘s Home Secretary over allegation that he had stopped prosecution of all cases of corruption.
What a right old mess.
Nigeria's Attorney General gets his official brief from 9ja newspapers! Then runs of to the London to clear himself of his "detractors" "allegations" with the British Home Secretary! All of this to free himself from sleeping Yar Adua's "hatred" shocked. What a mess Abuja is. angry

Na so.

I am asumming here, that his "detractors" are the good Nigerian people and the Uk's Met Police. 9ja police/EFCC don't give a damn.

There is a racism section for posts like this.

@sjeezy8 and chic2pimp

I'm not understanding where you guys are coming from. I'm hearing "one Nigeria", but no roadmap toward acheiving it.
Nigeria is obviously not working right now, how do you guys suggest we resolve the problems (outlined at a high level below).
[li]Federal Govt control freakery (e.g in the police, fire service, creation of LG's etc)[/li]
[li]General chaos and lack of direction[/li]
[li]Corruption[/li]
[li]Lack of continuity[/li]
[li]High levels of aggression in the average Nigerian[/li]
[li]Communal/regional hatred (eg advocating that overwhelming military action be carried out in the ND)[/li]
Please notice that I have omitted "tribalism" from the list; it is just a symptom of our underlying structural problems.

These problems are driving some of us crazy.

@OnlyTruth

It will be a mistake to settle for less than 100% resource control. Nigeria needs a weaker and much more decentralised federal govt; that is the only cure for rampant corruption.
The center should be made much less attractive and powerful.

Don't let anybody derail you.
You should also consider doing some stuff on The Great Zimbabwe and the Edo kingdom. I am especially fascinated by the way Edo historians can provide dates for events that occured thousands of years ago.

It is a positive development, as far as one of those in power has been snatched. I wish it was someone in the FG though.

My only concern is that it might be a new style of political assasination, lets wait and see if it was organised by political rivals or the angry guy on the street.

pls let me aks u have u ever wondered that no Igbo king eva standout tall amidst the kings in Nigeria?,

what lesson has that thought you?, pls learn more for am not satisfy, this can not prove your knowledge,
You can get authoritative Urhobo history from waado.org. Itsekiri are Yoruba people, they have no relationship whatsoever with Benin (except seeking their permission to have a king).
Igbo's (like most of Urhobo outside Okpe) have always been republican; so there are no major kings like Oba of Benin or Tor Tiv.
One last thing, I am not here to satisfy you or prove "my knowledge" to you or anyone else. We are here to share information, it aint war.

What an idiot, its like you're either IBB's pikin, Tinubu's pikin or Ibori's pikin.

Your vein will burst with anger one of these days all because you abusively oppose every voice that calls for correction.

While you feel naturally drawn to singing songs of praise about the di.ck sizes of governement thieves, the rest of us are saying "castrate the fucking thieves!".
Maybe you need a megaphone in both ears for the message to sink into your skull.

@niger_d and sjeezy
The history of the Niger Delta area is something I can claim to be well versed in.

I said niger_d's account was faulty because for one, languages don't evolve over a couple of hundred years; also while Eze Chima came from Benin, his subjects did not. Don't forget that Edo kingdom was an incredible power until the British razed everything to the ground and took what was left back to Europe in the punitive expedition. Even Lagos was founded by the Edo and every Oba of Lagos and high chief is an Edo man, but that doesn't stop Lagosians being Yoruba.

This is from the most authoritative Edo website out there;

Whereas the average Nri citizen traces his genealogy to Egypt and Israel, Onitsha indigenes trace a geneology that reveals that her first king was one Eze Chima, a rebel prince from the Benin royal dynasty. In Aboh it is Essumai Ukwu while Agbor must have been founded by a Benin warrior named Agban. Eze Chima is reputed to be the founder of Obior. Onicha Ukwu, Onicha Ugbo, Onicha Olona, Issele Ukwu, Issele Mkpima, Issele Azagba, Ezi, Obamkpa and Abeh.

Nice one still.
Talking about marriage; I've got cousins that are Igbo; but you know the funny thing? It never ever occured to me conciously that we are even from different ethnic groups, not until the day one of them did his traditional marriage. . . Its life.
