The President, Muhammadu Buhari has revealed his reasons for keeping the immediate past Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase in office till the expiration of his tenure.

The president, speaking through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina in Lagos revealed that Arase was kept on board because of his intelligence and capacity as an operation person.

Further describing the last moments of the immediate past IG of Police, Adesina explained that Arase had expected to be sacked before his tenure expired. He said: “Arase told the president it was very strange for him to have been invited for a farewell dinner, because, what we know in Nigeria, is that, you are sacked on the pages of newspapers.”

Adesina while speaking on behalf of the president at the public presentation of Cascade of Change…, a book written by Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Steve Ayorinde further noted that Arase had continuously nursed the fear of being sacked by President Muhammadu Buhari since he was inherited by the President’s administration last year.



Further quoting the president on why he retained Arase till the end of his tenure, Adesina said: “When it was the turn of the president to speak, he explained why he kept Arase as IGP.

“He said he saw the quality of his mind and he saw the quality of things, he had written. You know Arase has many publications to his credit and he also saw his capacity as an operations person and he decided to keep him till his tenure expired.”

Ayodele Fayose, governor of Ekiti state, went spiritual on Thursday, asking officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to read a portion of the Bible.

Fayose has been engaged i anti-graft agency since Monday when his personal account at Zenith Bank was frozen.

“I want to refer the APC, the Zenith Bank and the EFCC to John chapter 8 verses 6-7, which says, ‘This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not. When they continued asking him, he lifted up himself and said unto them, he that is without sin among you, let him cast the first stone,” the governor said in a statement issued on his behalf by Idowu Adelusi, his spokesman.

“Let those who are orchestrating this know that failure awaits them.”

Denying the allegation that the office of the national security adviser (NSA) provided funds for his election, Fayose reiterated his earlier claim that Zenith Bank was his major sponsor.

He challenged the bank to debunk his claim, threatening to embark on [color=#007700]“my second stage of revelations”.[/color]

“I stand with my claim that Zenith Bank Plc majorly funded my election in June 2014,” he said.

“I don’t expect an organisation like Zenith Bank to stay in a corner in matter of national concern like this and be talking.

“Rather, I expect the Zenith Bank to issue an official statement not as feeble as this one being peddled in the media so that I can begin the second stage of my revelations.

“My statement was made in the open and if I can accuse an institution like Zenith Bank in the open, I expect the institution to give official reply.
