Quite the contrary, I think your views are founded more upon estrogenal valor than actual truth.
If you tried at all, past the primal/illogical need to side with your fellow women, you would see that all the men are putting forth is this: if you do not want to be treated like a dog, don't act like a dog. I'm sure that, if you are truly as neutral and truth-based as you say you are, you would agree that this applies both to men and women. Your tone makes me feel you feel only men act like dogs, whereas a woman, no matter how foul her behavior, is annulled of all blame and should never take personal responsibility for her actions.

We're not interested in beating women just because. <It seems that, having no intelligent argument to add to the table, you women on here just repeatedly come back to this accusation. It's getting old and uninspiring>

If, out of the blue or out of a heated conversation, a person hits the face of another person and the hitter magically expects no retaliation and in fact feels surprised that this slappee retaliated. Would you not count the hitter as clinically insane?

Personal responsibility is this: If you attack someone, it would be silly for you to feel that you won't be attacked back.
Why does the hitter in this case feel they don't need to operate under the confines of personal responsibility? By this fact, and the female responses in this room, it is safe to assume that 70% of our young ladies today are clinically insane.

In case you just popped in, do try and watch a clip somewhere on this thread of one such instances.
Once again perfectly put. Below is the video you refer to:

I think Fashola has had his priorities wrong from day one and has only been living on the fame of seeming to do something. It is not hard to be a popular politician in Nigeria when you have competition like Olagunsoye Oyinlola and Akala.

I think for a underdeveloped region like Nigeria/Lagos, the emphasis of government spending should be on making good-quality basic social services available on a large scale. In my opinion, Fashola should be emphasizing issues like health,education, and the creation of a social safety net for the poor, disabled, and elderly. And if money will be spent on investments, it should be on investments that have a large and direct impact on the majority of Lagosians, not "elitist" projects.

PoliticsRe: Ribadu Moves To Kabul, Afghanistan To Fight Corruption by beejaei: 2:02pm On May 09, 2011
I think so too but , in the end, he may just not be interested in working for a GEJ Government. I think he could have remained here to work on building a political base and forging alliances, with an eye on the future, but the need to get out , for now , may have been too much for a core technocrat who , as I have stated repeatedly , is involved because of patriotism like Gani Fawehinmi, Fola Adeola , Femi Falana, Okonjo-Iweala, Ezekwesili et al.

It was the same with Okonjo Iweala and Ezekwesili. They answered the call to do their bit but , IMO , left with frustration and perhaps regret at not getting the chance to do more. This move for Ribadu , if true , at the very least, proves that he made no deals with GEJ otherwise he would be enjoying a 'juicy' portfolio in Nigeria rather than working for the UN in Afghanistan. It also proves that Ribadu was not involved because of money as folks touted . He will certainly be very well paid as a UN advisor but he could literally opt to be Part of GEJ's GNU to make billions if he is a shallow and materialistic person .

Anyway , from what we gather , this UN assignment will run for a year or two . Hope Ribadu will head back after that to get involved . People may not see it , but we need more high-worth technocrats , sought the World over, like Ribadu , Fola Adeola and Okonjo-Iweala et al, involved more in our politics rather than the numerous political jobbers and retrogressive AGIPS (like David Mark) who stand for nothing in particular and are never principled enough to do what is best for Nigeria. I wish Ribadu the best in his endeavours.
So true and articulately put.
PoliticsRe: Chimamanda Adichie: The Danger Of A Single Story by beejaei: 1:56pm On May 09, 2011
Who are the NL intellectuals?

By the way, I disagree with Ms. Adichie. I believe that we have to tell all stories even the negative ones. We do not have an obligation to treat the positive stories as more important or more representative than the negative stories. If we are denying our problems, how do we solve them?

@Shy-One
Its by responses like yours we know who are the matured minds. Thanks for being an example of how to respond to naughty people.

@beejaei
Shy-one's response to you shows you up as an immature n rude fellow. Take a cue.

If the guy had responded like Shy-One I bet you he'd be a lil star by now instead he's just a label- The Man Who Slapped So n So, nothing accomplished.
@Shy-One and Lord-Reed

I give up on both of you since you obviously have bricks for brains and are incapable of simple logic. So you are criticizing the man by making conjectures about what could have been if he restrained himself? Wharra hell? All of that you wrote, Shy-One, were just a product of your imagination. It may or may not have happened irrespective of the man's actions and so are not a tenable basis for the man's choice of action. THat is like saying if a man steals from me, I should not do anything because I do not know what will happen e.g the good Lord may bring death upon him on my behalf,  or he may hit a pole and fall in a ditch, or he may also be robbed an lose what he has stolen etc. Pray tell what is my business with what may happen to the man afterwards? My only concern is how to get back my stolen goods by any means necessary. IN the same way, the man's only concern was to defend himself from physical abuse. Why the phock will he be thinking about book deals, and her sponsors, and giving interviews at such a time?

Mehn you guys are ridiculous. I have to ask again: how old are you mental pygmies?

the big deal about men hitting women comes from the fact that 95% of the time, it's men who hit women. it's based on the statistical evidence
@Jenifa

You may have a point there.

Very well put. There should be a masculinist movement to demand equality for men in the workplace and in the home. Enough is enough. We will no longer stand to be discriminated against.

men are second class citizen in Nigeria? are you high or you live in the bush?
@Jenifa

Your mouth is too sharp. I do not have time for you. If women are allowed to hit men without men hitting back, then men are second-class citizens.

Ohh MY GOD! YOU ARE INCORRIGIBLE AND UNFAIR FEMINIST.

Warra hell. He was crying from the humiliation of being slapped on national TV. Plus the whole crowd was being unjust and that must have hurt a lot. I think the woman should be ashamed of herself. What sort of double standard is that?

Thanks for the directions for the poll.
