FIFA 11 is just a couple of tweaks here and there. The graphics are better, but the game play has been messed up IMHO in their attempt to make it berra.

@El-Razur

I cannot believe the level of immaturity you display on this forum. And to think that I know you in real life and you are not very different. Dude, get a life asap.
RomanceWhy Dont You Want To Get Married Or What Are Makes You Apprehensive About It? by beejaei(op): 5:15am On Dec 28, 2010
For some time NL has had a deluge of thread that lament the unhappiness of married life. This has made me to consider more seriously my initial plans not to get married. I mean what is the use? It seems as though it is inevitable that at some point every married person gets to the stage where they either do not love their spouse anymore, do not understand their spouse or just do not want to be in the marriage. Some say "fight till the end." I say "maybe not always." I saw my mum fight till the end with my dad. Today we the children are doing well and that makes her happy, but I cannot help but think that our happiness is at the expense of her happiness. She lived a life of sadness, disrespect and wickedness- and she endured it all - so as to ensure her children's future. She almost literally gave up her life and dreams for us. Should anyone have to do that? This perspective makes me very wary of marriage. So my question is "is marriage really worth it?" "What are the benefits that offset the terrible disadvantages?" For singles, "have the terrible examples of marriage made you rethink whether or not you want to get married?" "What are you most scared about when you look forward to a married life?"

This is a sad story. When I consider this, other NL tales, and my parents marriage, I do not think I want to get married in life. If these are the cons (these kind of inscrutable struggles), then pray tell what are the pros?

Did not know we have so many foreigners and visitors on NL? We are indeed the giant of Africa.

all i am saying only the OP experienced whatever she experienced and only knows what kind of reaction/name-calling her father deserves. Maybe all men are not like that, but the OP cannot be blamed for what she has learned from her experiences.

you are a naughty person. if you have not been in someone's shoes before, stick your mouth up your azz or keep quiet. There are certain things no one can discuss without the right perspective. If you have not worn the shoes the OP has worn. it is easy to sit on Mount Moral High Ground and tell the OP what is right or wrong. Pray you dont ever have to feel what she is feeling.

Enough with the pretense. Stupid people come here on NL to give holy-holy advice when they have not walked in the OP's shoes. I have. My father was almost exactly like her father. Till today I am torn between wishing my mother had quit and had a happy life of her own or stayed, as she did, to ensure her children's future. So if you have not been in this situation, kindly shut the mess up and stick your mouth in your as.s. You do not know what it feels like to see the mother you love almost literally sacrifice her life and take a lot of bullshi.t from an irresponsible father just to make sure her children's futures are guaranteed. Nonsense.

Last year, I met and dated this angel. She was the girl of my dreams: everything I ever wanted in a lady. Her hips will make Beyonce jealous and her beauty is like the rising of the sun on the coast. She is very smart and is an assistant director at the World Bank. Unfortunately, she is very dirty. Her underwears have the map on the world on them due to several weeks of usage without wash. There have been several times we have stopped midway while having sex because of the odor from her vagina. The kitchen sink is always filled with dirty and stinking plates. And there have been times she has gone to work without taking a bath (using baby wipes instead). But I still love her. I hate her dirtiness but I love her enough to ignore it. We got married six months ago. It made me wonder if there are people who love their spouses despite something they find really repulsive about their spouses.

Who is more crazy, Mr Cork of Becomerich? Or are they the same?

By the way, I agree that marriage is overrated. I know what my mum went through in my father's house, and I do not wish it on my enemy. If you go make mistake choose the wrong person to marry, and you no wan divorce, e mean say you don enter one chance be that.

I just like an easy life without conflict so I am seriously thinking about not marrying. I am sorry mama, but a man gat to do what he gat to do.

I was really good at Math in secondary school. It came naturally and very easily to me. I have always excelled academically, but I am fairly lazy. So I assume much of my academic success is due to "talent," not hard work. While I was at Ife, I continued my laissez faire attitude and was on my way to a 2.2 before I cam to the US. In my first year in the US, since it was a new environment and my scholarship was tied to academic success, I was serious with my school work. I subsequent years, since I realized that my small college is not as challenging as my high school in Nigeria, I slacked but still maintained a good GPA. So basically, I always have excellent academic records, but I still doubt my capabilities. I feel like I have not been tested with real intellectual and academic rigor. People routinely tell me that I am first-class material, or that if I found myself in Harvard or MIT, I will do just as well. I do not know what to make of that given what I know about my work ethic. The only time I stop being lazy is when I face a new challenge, like taking a class in a nearby tougher school or going to another big school for research. But once I have "conquered" a task once, I am not naturally motivated to give it my best again.

I have always dreamed and fantasized about attending college in an academically rigorous and intellectually stimulating environment. Unfortunately, my present school makes OAU look like University of Cambridge or Harvard. In fact, the only reason I am not regretting leaving OAU is that there are opportunities in ther US that are not in Nigeria. In terms of quality of education, OAU offered 100X more than my present college.

Well, I plan to apply to graduate schools for a PhD in Electrical Engineering (Control Systems) in the next year. I am not sure where my level is in terms of schools to apply to. I am a very pragmatic person. If I find out that certain schools are beyond my reach, I will either work to bring myself to that level or opt out. No need to deceive myself. In this process of applying to these schools, I am sure up to the level of my dream schools: GATECH, MIT, Stanford etc. Can I get in? I can get the necessary requirements (GRE, GPA, research experience etc), but am I intellectually god enough f0or these schools, or am I just a glorified big fish in small pond who gets lucky pretty often. Will I be able to adjust to the academic rigor on offer at these schools? I scored a Quant: 800 and Verb: 750 on the GRE. What does that same about me? GRE Math is at the level of JSS3 so I am not too excited. What I really need is an opportunity to weigh myself against the very best and see where I fit. There is not motivation, competition, or challenge in my college so I do not know if those around me just overrate me or if they see some potential in me that can blossom on a bigger stage.

Please contribute from your life experiences and understanding of my situation.

I know one or two people are pursuing PhDs (dayokanu, Jarus, daviddylan etc). Your input is sought for and welcomed here.
