As in ehn! In fact disgusting is an understatement. I don't know if it is worst on Nairaland. No day passes without like 5 threads on sex and most of the time with complete strangers.
Education / Re: These Historical Facts Are Almost Too Weird To Be Real, But They’re All True. by Benbisco(f): 10:35am On Jul 27, 2020
TheFACELESS133:
History is a vast subject to be sure. And with so little time to cover it all, plenty of things get swept aside in favor of the bigger stories like World War II and the Louisiana Purchase. Those things are certainly interesting stories, but they’ve got nothing on these wacky facts we dug up.

Turns out there’s a lot more to history than we previously thought.
1. Albert Einstein could have been president of Israel when it was formed, but he declined.
2. Before dentures were invented, teeth were pulled from the mouths of dead soldiers for use as prosthetics.
3. Roman Emperor Gaius, also known as Caligula, made one of his favorite horses a senator.
4. There’s a giant mushroom in Oregon’s Malheur National Forest with a root system that covers over 2,200 acres, making it the largest living organism in the world.
5. In 1929, researchers at Princeton University claimed that they had turned a living cat into a telephone.
6. Heroin was once a perfectly acceptable medicine prescribed by doctors for everything from coughs to headaches.
7. While Pope Gregory IX was in power, he declared that cats were to be associated with devil worship and had them exterminated in droves.
8. It’s believed that the disappearance of those cats cats helped rats spread the bubonic plague, or Black Death, that killed hundreds of millions of people in the 1300s.
9. Chinese women used to painfully bind their feet to make them appear smaller and more feminine.
10. The shortest war in history was the Anglo-Zanzibar War. It lasted just 38 minutes.
11. Former North Korean dictator Kim Jong-il was said to be a great lover of music and composed six operas while he was in office.
12. The Leaning Tower of Pisa was actually never straight to begin with. The foundation began to sink when they started on the second floor.
13. Researchers believe that the famous Guanajuato Mummies’ terrible expressions are the result of the victims being buried alive
14. Ronald Reagan is best known for being President and acting in numerous films, but he was also a prolific lifeguard, who saved 77 people from drowning.
15. Klerksdorp spheres are strange objects that have been dug up near Ottosdal in South Africa. The spherical objects are billions of years old and no one has been able to fully explain the markings on their sides.
16. A famous native American named Blackbird was said to have loved his horse so much that he was buried sitting on top of it.
17. Before there were alarm clocks, there were “bosoms-up”, who were hired to shoot dried peas from a blow gun at people’s windows in order to wake them up in the morning.
18. The largest bird ever to exist had a wingspan of almost 20 feet. It lived 60 million years ago.
19. Russian mystic Grigori Yefimovich Rasputin reportedly survived being poisoned, shot, and stabbed numerous times before he was finally drowned in the Volga river.
20. People in Spain used to employ a form of torture called the Spanish Donkey. Victims had to sit high up, straddling a board while torturers tied increasingly heavy weights to their legs. Ouch!
21. Speaking of torture, the Mayans used to sacrifice people by pulling their still-beating hearts out of their chests.
22. The use of the word “hooker” as a term for a prostitute actually originated with Civil War General Joseph Hooker, who brought prostitutes along on campaigns for his men.
25. Like many ancient royalty, King Tut’s parents were related. They were actually brother and sister, according to DNA taken from his mummified body. He was also disabled and probably had malaria.
26. Russian dictator Joseph Stalin often had photos retouched to remove people who had died or been removed from office.

Even if you’re a history buff, I bet you didn’t know most of these bizarre facts. Makes you wonder what other secrets the past holds!

Very informative and educative.

Thanks.

Crime / What Kind Of People Make You Ashamed To Be A Human Being? by Benbisco(f): 4:00pm On Jun 06, 2020
On June 1st, at around 2 in the morning, we received information of an eight years old girl brought to a private hospital, unconscious, injured and bruised. The man who had brought her left the premises without staying after only informing that the girl works at his home as a maid.

Police responded immediately upon learning of the news.

Condition of that girl was critical, a few officers remained at the hospital and others left to find the suspect or any pieces of information about him who had fled the scene.

His name is Hassan, a young man living at a posh and decorated housing society, well off family, rich people. Husband, wife and their child… an infant. They were keeping the girl “maid” whose name is Zahra as “help” to take care of their son.

But as the doctors shared medical reports of the victim, we learned that the girl beaten but physically “sexually abused” too as there were signs of bleeding. She was raped.

City’s Police Chief took notice of the matter right away and ordered registration of a case against the offenders with charges of attempted murder, rape and more. There was no complainant, no family of that girl present as her parents lived hundreds of miles away and had willingly gave their daughter in service of those people in return of money.

Police became complainant, and registered the case.

Minutes after that, the girl passed away.

Hunt was on, dozens and dozens of cops were dispatched to trace out the culprits and within a day, both of the accused, the husband and his wife were arrested, murder charge had been added to the case as of now, and this is where I personally and most probably my colleagues too went into shock of a lifetime.

Confessions, so horrific that make me say “May lord have mercy”.

That man abused the child to death as a “punishment”, for what you ask? For mistakenly opening their parrot cage that led to one of their parrots flying away.

That is it.

Wow. I mean… is that all there is to make a child subject of such gruesome endless torture and abuse?

There were videos found in his mobile phone that depicts the true horrors of what happened, the pain and misery the little Zahra went through, and all of this done by someone we’d otherwise consider a perfectly fine sensible person by his appearance.

12 injuries including vital injuries at the private parts, folks. I won’t share the images out of respect for the dead as well as for some of you will drop everything and feel like your heart skipping its rhythm. An eight years old baby girl. At such age, children giggle and roam free of worries, don’t they?

Of course, I’d consider her parents responsible of this despicable atrocity equally, as It was their duty to ensure their safety and well-being of their child. I can understand, that people are poor, needy and that people do let their children work in other people’s home for money.

Very respectfully, I don’t agree with that, and consider it insanely wrong. No matter how poorer or needy I get, I’d never let my child be on the mercy of another soul, I’ll never let my child be in service of a master simply because that’s a child we’re talking about for goodness sake!!! Those who do find it feasible, I’m not going to criticize them, they may have their reasons, but I fail to see a good one and I condemn the practice strongly.

So yea,

Zahra is gone.

I feel like she is up there in heavens, very contented of finally getting rid of all those who pained her.

We are committed to ensure justice for the little angel, Sternest conviction and befitting punishment to be ensured.

We the cops; owe it to her at the very least.

In few sentences, please explain why a good loving God would command men to kill innocent women and children, or make them slaves for a crime they didn't commit.
I await your response.

Pls could you give an example of such a scenario so we can be more specific. Thanks.

This list of incidences of death and destruction in large numbers recorded in history can be better understood when we find out the reasons for their deaths.

The first for example, sin had multiplied on the earth greatly and God was not happy with it. He sent several warnings through Noah but the people did not listen. He even told them of the coming destruction and offered room in the ark but they still refused. If after such warnings punishment is meted out, then it is justified.

Even as humans, when we set boundaries, especially for subordinates, and they over step those boundaries, we most likely would warn and give room for change. When the expected change does not take place, I believe the next step would be punishment, which would be aimed at serving as a deterrent to others.

To the best of my knowledge, I do not think God is so callous as to want to see or watch people suffer or just punish for no justifiable reason.

Anybody watching all those shows is sick

Doctor, please do you have any prescriptions to recommend?

You know, it beats my imagination how people who you expect to be civil and have respect for others irrespective of whether they are their seniors, age mates, or juniors feel very comfortable insulting and disrespecting people they have no idea who they are.

Neither the original post nor my comment said "Must Watched Shows for the Weekend". The fact that you do not like a particular thing is not enough reason for you to condemn it or condemn those who like it.

Please in this era of civilisation, lets us all learn to be civil.

Thanks OP. I enjoying reading and watching stuff like these, but it makes me happy when the mystery is solved and the culprit brought to book.

My husband can still not comprehend why I will be watching shows like "Southern Fried Homicide", "Deadly Sins", "Young Hot and Crooked" "Thou Shall Not", "Justice by Any Means" and "Murder" late into the night.

The JonBenet Ramsey story was recently on RealTime. The thing tire me. I was also suspecting her parents, especially the father that discovered the body.

Religion / Re: A Frustrated Christian Brother!! by Benbisco(f): 10:42am On May 28, 2020
Saveme99:
Dear people of God, Please bear with my long write up.
I thank God for the opportunity to open this thread, for my life, the body of Christ and all Children of God whom he will use to speak to me via this thread!
I am believer for 11 years now, I attend a living Church, a minister in the youth department of the church.
My life is in a standstill or rather in a retrogressive mode financially. I am 37 years, single brother, a graduate, but no employment, no money, no house. I am still living with my elder brother. Any business I lay my hand will crumble, I have never secured a good job since 2013 I left service, I worked as teacher in a private school in Lagos for 5 years but couldn't save any thing. I discovered that once I save up money, a mysterious power will just scatter it one way or the other. At a point I stopped saving.
I resigned from teaching and opted for many business but they all failed, Every night I dream of either when I am still in primary, secondary, university or NYSC. I just wake from one of such dreams where I was doing a menial job I did in 2007 to sponsor my University education.
Brethren, I have fasted, I have prayed, I have gone for deliverance severally. I have done three days dry fasting two times because of this problem.
Though I am giver, I don't receive favour, people in church believe I am a man of God.
I have so much failed in business that I am now afraid of attempting any new business. My elder brother (in whose house I stay, married with two kids) is almost tired of helping me. Currently I have no job, no money, no business yet I faithfully handle the Church finances.
At a point I will become so depressed and frustrated that I will begin to pray for death. If not for offending God and HELL fire, I would have commited suicide long ago.
My case is so messed up that men of God in the Church believe I should be the one praying for people!
God seemed silent in my matter, I am not motivated to fast or pray about my condition again!
I teach seminar in the Church teaching youths how to make money, full of wisdom, ideas, integrity yet financially miserable.
I just woke up from one my miserable dreams, created this new moniker to hide my popular identity on nairaland.
Note, I am already used to all manner of attacks in the dream! Cob-webs follow me everywhere, even sometimes in an open field or in a place where someone has passed before me.
What could be happening to me? I am trusting God to use a Spirit-filled brother/sister to speak to me.
Has any genuine believer passed through this experience before, please share with a brother

You have indeed gone through a lot. I haven't experienced this much but I can say that I have had a fair share of life. You have prayed and fasted and it appears like nothing has changed but have faith that change is gradually taking place because faith is like wifi, it is invisible but it has the power to connect us to what we need. When you wake from such dreams, with your mouth confess and declare that you have left that stage and you are moving on. Speak positive, speak your victory because Christ has already given us victory. You have prayed and fasted; by faith, begin to DECLARE! Speak the things you want and thank God for them. It might look foolish but believe me it works. It has worked for me.

Many people believe that God punishes people for the bad they have done in the past. What do you think?

When people do wrong, it is given that they are punished. When citizens of a country (even foreigners) go against the laws of that country, they will be punished. when students do not keep the rules of the school, they will be punished. When people sin, they are also bound to be punished by God. However, if these people realize their mistake and sincerely repent, I do not see why they will not be forgiven by God. It is very unlikely that God will look at what a person did 3yrs back and say He wants to punish him now if the person had asked for forgiveness and never goes back to it.

God is never the reason for our problems. Our actions usually are.

seeking for better understanding sometimes makes me confuse as some verses contradict themselves.I think having a true and proper understanding of the Bible is spiritual.

Exactly! That is where/when the Third Person in the Trinity, The Holy Spirit is mostly needed. Ask Him to direct you and give you understanding when studying.

One way to understand scriptures better is to read the passage from different versions of the Bible, the same way we read from different textbooks or websites to understand a topic better when studying.

“Israel, remember this! The LORD — and the LORD alone — is our God.
Deuteronomy 6:4. This is what Good News Bible says.

Attention, Israel! God , our God! God the one and only!
Deuteronomy 6:4. This is what the Message Bible says.

I believe these make it a bit clearer what that passage says. Its say that our God is God alone ( in Nathaniel Bassey's voice..."You are God all by yourself).

From your writeup, I can deduce that you have good knowledge of scriptures. I'll advice you ask the Holy Spirit for better understanding on the subject.

P.S: The Bible does not mention the word "Rapture" at all but that does not change the fact that it is real.

Religion / What Would You Do In Such A Situation? by Benbisco(f): 3:04pm On May 27, 2020
*DEBATE OF THE DAY!!!*

You are a youth leader in a church. One Sunday morning, before the arrival of the pastor, a stranger finds you in the church and gives you a sealed carton of noodles for the pastor and a sum of #20,000 for yourself.

When the pastor arrived and you updated him, he refused to believe you. He says it is inconceivable that someone will donate a carton of noodles to him the pastor, and then give you #20,000. So he collected the #20,000 and gave you the noodles.

Once at home, you opened the package and realized that the content is not just noodles but also concealed, a well-counted sum of a million naira.

What will you do️

If Church service cannot hold, why not just go to the court and conclude it there? All you need is a couple of witnesses, right?

You will spend less because there will be no reception.
