Spiritual director of Adoration Ministry Enugu Nigeria (AMEN), Reverend Father Ejike Mbaka has distanced himself from the protest against the closure of Adoration Ministry, IGBERETV reports.
Protesters took to the streets to oppose the closure of Mbaka's Adoration Ministry on Sunday, 19th June 2022.
The Bishop of Enugu Catholic Diocese, Most. Rev. Callistus Onaga barred all Catholic faithful from attending services at Father Mbaka’s Adoration Ministry,
This was after the priest had faced severe criticisms after he declared that the Labour Party Presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, could never be Nigeria’s President because he was too stingy.
In a statement he personally signed on Monday, Mbaka said he is not in any way involved in that activity and that he received with obedience the directive of the Bishop.
He appealed to the faithful especially members of the Adoration Ministry to be calm and refrain from measures of violence.

Owo Church Attack: South-West Governors Declare 3-Day Mourning Period In Their States
Governors of the South-West states have resolved to observe a 3-day mourning period in their state in honour of the those attacked by gunmen at St. Francis Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo State, IGBERETV reports.
Following the resolution, Ondo state governor, Rotimi Akeredolu has extended the seven-day mourning period he declared in his state by three days.
His statement on Facebook reads;

Owo Terror Attack: Akeredolu Extends Mourning Period In Ondo
Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, has extended the mourning period in the state to Wednesday, June 15th, 2022.
The extension is sequel to the resolution of the Southwest Governors’ Forum to observe a 3-day mourning period, starting from Monday, 13th June to Wednesday, 15th June, 2022 across all the Southwest states.
Governor Akeredolu has also directed that all flags in the state must be flown at half-mast for the three days period.
Recall that the Governor had directed that all flags in the state be flown at half-mast for seven days from Monday, June 6th, to Sunday, June 12th, 2022.
Governor Akeredolu appreciated his brother Governors in the Southwest for the massive love and cooperation shown since the horrendous attack in Owo.

Governor Akeredolu Attends Church Service At St. Francis Catholic Church, Owo (Photos)
Ondo State governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, on Sunday attended an interdenominational church service organized by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) at St. Francis Catholic Church, Owo in Ondo state, a week after the church was attacked by gunmen, IGBERETV reports.

Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu,SAN, on Sunday said that the Southwest and the state in particular can not be conquered by the enemies of the people under any guise.
Governor Akeredolu stressed that the dastardly acts committed in Owo was targeted to create fears into the mind of the people.
The Governor noted that he will not be silenced by the cowardly acts of the terrorists who killed children, women and unharmed worshipers at St. Francis Catholic Church, Owo last Sunday.
Arakunrin Akeredolu spoke at a special interdenominational prayer service organised by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Owo Chapter, and held at the premises of the St. Francis Catholic Church where 40 worshipers were killed.
The Governor also visited the Federal Medical Center and St. Louis Hospital, both in Owo to check on the survivors of the attack on admission.
He was accompanied to the church service by members of the state executive council led by the Chief of Staff to the Governor , Chief Gbenga Ale.
The prayer service was also attended by the Bishop of Owo Anglican Diocese, Dr. Stephen Fagbemi; the former General Superintendent of CAC worldwide, Baba Daniel Oloye; and several other men of God who led prayers.
Governor Akeredolu, who described the attack as painful, assured that efforts will be geared towards strengthening the security in the state and across the Southwest.
The Akeredolu equally encouraged all places of worship to install CCTV cameras and engage local security men to further provide security in their premises.
In his sermon, Bishop Fagbemi, lauded Governor Akeredolu for providing leadership, saying since the sad incident happened the Governor's continuous responses and actions have been unique and commendable.
He also lauded the Governor for his efforts in providing security for the protection of lives and property of the poeple of the state through the establishment of Amotekun Corps.
The Bishop expressed shock over the Owo attack, saying church of God should be a place of safety.
He, however, urged Christians not to entertain any fear, saying God will continue to be with them and give them victory.
According to him, despite the fact that some people have allowed themselves to be used by the devil, Jesus is still alive and will continue to protect and be with His poeple.
Bishop Fagbemi prayed God to expose the killers of the worshippers and their sponsors.
There were intercessory prayers for the the victims of the attack, Owo town and the state at large.

UK University Appoints Ekweremadu Visiting Professor
The University of Lincoln, United Kingdom, has appointed former Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, a Visiting Professor of Corporate Governance and International Linkages.
The appointment was conveyed in a letter dated May 26, 2022 and signed by the Deputy Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Andrew Hunter.
The appointment letter was presented to Ekweremadu in Abuja on Sunday by the Head of International, Lincoln Business School, Professor David Rugara, on behalf of the Pro-Vice Chancellor of the School, Dr. Craig Marsh.
The letter by Prof. Hunter read in part: “I am delighted to inform you, on the recommendation of the Lincoln International Business School, that the Professorial Committee has agreed to confer on you the title of Visiting Professor of Corporate Governance and International Linkages from May 2022 to May 2025.
“A Visiting Professorship is one which is awarded to distinguished individual of recognised academic and/or professional standing, whose association with a department of the university will support its academic endeavour and provide the highest source of advice and wise counsel in that discipline.
“I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to our academic community and thank you for your willingness to be associated with the University of Lincoln”.
Accepting the appointment, Ekweremadu said he was proud to be associated with the academic pedigree and core concept of the University of Lincoln and pledged to go to work in earnest.

It is recalled that Ekweremadu was also appointed a Professor and Mentoring Scholar of E-Governance and Strategic Government Studies by the Southern University, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, USA, in 2018.
A fifth-term senator, former three-term Deputy President of the Nigerian Senate, and former Speaker of the Parliament of the Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS Parliament, Ekweremadu holds a doctorate degree in Constitutional Law.
He taught Constitutional Law and Labour Law at his alma mater, the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, from 1991 until 1997 when he joined active politics and was elected the pioneer Chairman of Aninri Local Government Area.
He is the author of the book “Who Will Love My Country: Ideas for Building a Nigeria of Our Dreams” and lead author of the book “Constitutional Review in an Emerging Democracy: The Nigerian Experience”.
Ekweremadu has also delivered over 29 public lecturers, mainly on the subjects of good governance, constitution making, and federalism at both local and international fora such as the Osgood Hall Law School, York University, Ontario, Canada; Johns Hopkins University, Washington DC, USA; Parliament of the United Kingdom as well as several Commonwealth and ECOWAS fora.
