Sure you can make an allegation, but you better be fueled by convincing evidence to that effect. The floor is yours. Meanwhile winning by a margin of 5 is pretty convincing, but you must have towering evidence. Joebie: |
You people don turn me to Mr "stats", that's perfectly fine. I am a believer in logical and factual reasoning. Honestly, i was not following watford closely-i am admitting to that. Again the stats to my rescue. If you are referring to Flores', during his tenure in the 2015/2016 season, following their promotion from the championship, Watford was eventually placed 15th(45 points)- I will give it to you, why would you sack such a coach? : That was a decent performance by the team after securing promotion. Following some terrible performances, they appointed Javi Gracia, during Gracia's tenure, the team placed 11th(50 points), which we can argue was a better performance than Flores'- you can also include the fact that he got them to the fa cup finals, as someone indicated earlier. You can as well say it wasn't necessarily a better performance since Flores' era was just after a promotion. But to conclude the argument is that Gracia does not necessarily deserve a sack, cos it's too early too count their losses this early as an absolute failure. junnyjake: |
But common bros, but a team mostly would only sack a coach for a string of bad performances. But i think the recently sacked coach posted better performances than the recently appointed coach. That was a rash decision, IMO- The season only recently started. The question is what kind of losses would warrant a sack? junnyjake: |
Why do they sack coaches if not mostly because of bad performances posted by team junnyjake: |
Hehehehehe, you asked kindly too, but the guy comot "s" now ![]() IronPants: |
If you get im number call am ooo, he better take it seriously. if the "saviour coach" loses terribly peren, we go open cupboard ooo. He's got to prove why he deserves all that touting from you guys. Earthquake1: |
He better not lose ooo, especially not miserably. Cos i go remind some people how mostly clueless the "savior coach" is. junnyjake: |
On the bolded, don't give me the different interpretations narrative- Are you going to refer to benchwarmers as the core of a team? If you are wrong, admit it, and don't ascribe it to semantics. I have been talking about the starting 11 so far-It's not as if none of them deserves a call-up apart from Okoye ofcourse. My argument of integrating most of them into the youth teams is to ensure that they can partner better with their home-grown counterparts. My point can only be negated if all 7 make the first team and perform very well together. So i am afraid it's yet to be unsubstantiated. We will see in the forthcoming matches. Earthquake1: |
Ofcourse the "saviour coach" didn't see him. Or perhaps the MLS is a fishermen's league ![]() ChrisKels: |
You mentioned the core of the team. Please, what does core mean if not starters? Mind your choice of words next time. You don't seem to be getting the point. Plus a good number of them only recently got their first call-ups. So the idea that the core of the team is made up of 7 foreign-born/Foreign-trained players is quite premature. Are you selecting the core of the team based on the current crop of players invited? Let's see how many of these guys will be invited again in a few months. I have never criticized the invite of any of those lads apart from Maduka Okoye. My point is based on how well they can fit into the starting team that consists of mostly home-grown Nigerian players. How can they play well with the home-grown players? This is a somewhat intangible issue you are overlooking. Do not mention the word core, since some of these guys are yet to don the green color. We will see on Tuesday. We hope your so-called "saviour coach" shows up. Earthquake1: |
Which seven? I beg ooo, what do you mean by core? And what do you understand by foreign-born? Which squad are we referring to? The squad from the last nations cup? During the knockout stages, at most three foreign-born/foreign-trained started. Iwobi, Ekong and Ola Aina-Ola Aina was even relegated to the bench at some point until, and only played the third-place because Awaziem was suspended for accumulation of yellow cards. Unless you mean number foreign-born/Foreign-based in the team. If you are referring to this current squad, all i got to say is we will have to wait and see. Plus only 5 of them are foreign-born/Foreign-trained(All their lives). We don't even know what team he will be fielding. This is not a definition of it's "worked out" bro. Earthquake1: |
On the subject of Ondoa, my argument is it probably was. If you have an argument for a better choice at that time, present it. I will definitely reconsider your argument along those lines(note: at that time). You seem to think cos he's third choice so the call-up doesn't matter. But it does-If he doesn't deserve it, then he doesn't. You seem to have a thing for foreign-born. Admittedly , we have a goalkeeping situation. But on no account did Maduka deserve a call up over Akpeyi. i repeat on no account. You are yet to present convincing evidence to support your claim that he does. We are not all ignorant of fact-finding bro. I want facts. tbaba1234: |
What kind of argument are you presenting? Your picture clearly shows he was benched on day 1 this season. Meanwhile, i have pictures in which he was benched on days 33 and 34 last season. Why would he make the bench if he is not fit? Or is that how they do it in the 4th-tier ? Bros, honestly, why are you thinking like this? I just mentioned why Ondoa started for Cameroon throughout the 2017 nations cup. It was because Onana didn't honor a call-up. And that moment, they probably didn't have better players. If you think they did, present facts- I also mentioned the teams of the other players they called. If you wanna try any goalkeeper it's not a 4th-tier, not even when he plays regularly. 1. I am not disputing your last statement. Far from it. That's actually a sense of relief. My argument was that he doesn't deserve a call-up at all. You claimed he does, and i have presented evidence of matches in which he was fit but on the bench. You don't seem to understand my point. 2. His record is so bleeping strange, according to his record of injuries, he was fine between September 30, 2018 and June 30, 2019- note that i have allowed a period of one week before recovery from one injury and recovery from the next. He missed the last four matches, although nothing shows that he was ill or injured. What kind of argument is this self. Are you a close relative or something? The guy cannot even stay healthy-He was either ill or injured three times in 2018. In short he doesn't deserve a call-up based on fitness. . You might think the aforementioned supports your point but it doesn't, cos the guys record can be likened to a walking time bomb. I beg just forget it. I wish him all the best.tbaba1234: |
Your argument for Ondoa sounds reasonable, except that Onana refused a call-up, cos he preferred to seal a spot at Ajax when Cillessen left. If you can present facts pointing to the fact that that there were other goalkeepers competing in the first and second leagues of top European countries in the period leading up to Afcon 2017, then perhaps your argument can be taken seriously. If you check the other invited goalkeepers, one was playing for Coton sports in Cameroon and the other Ajaccio in Ligue 2. I could have considered the latter a better option for a starting role, but the fact that he currently plays for Tours FC in the fifth division of France shows he wasn't regular For the bolded part, i honestly hate it. You are not being truthful. I am not even sure you watch the matches. Below is a picture of a matchday during which they were both available but Theissen was selected over him. I have two other pictures, one for matchday 33 last season and the other for matchday 1 this season. I don't know your agenda here. Unless you are disputing the posted line up or he had malaria on those days, you need to present a better argument why this guy deserves a call-up. I could argue that Maduka featured only when Theissen was injured or not fit, cos for every game Maduka featured Theissen was never on the bench. tbaba1234:

Ok now, Oga I beg sorry, so patapata kra you were 23-24 then, so we are still back to the original threshold, which is 45 ![]() Toks2008: |
Hehehehehehehehehehehe. She don tey true true. She is exuding a lot of wisdom ![]() enemyofprogress: |
I checked the link, and i couldn't help myself but laugh. He was at least 27 in that picture, so let's say 48, hehehehehe . But you people no good ooo, why you no concentrate on the message? It's nice to know we have elders here ![]() PabloAndreas: |
Sevilla B is currently in the 3rd tier, but while Ondoa played for them they were in the 2nd tier. I will give you the argument that he wasn't playing regularly though. Like i said i am not overly concerned about this call-up since he won't play as the first choice goalkeeper, except that the call-up is kind of suspect, given that the guy is german-born. I understand that it's hard for goalkeepers to move up, and doing well for the national team sometimes provide the boost, but i still believe he should begin from the under-23 team, then moved up if he proves too good for that level. But i beg you gotta stop your "he plays regularly" cliche. There have been 6 games so far-excluding the last one, let's just say he was getting ready to represent his love, Nigeria, hehehe- but he only featured in two. He is competing against one Jannick Theissen. He is not as regular as you make it seem. Abi na which stats you dey check? Fear God ooo. tbaba12345: |
Truth be told, the bolded is part of the Nigerian culture at the moment , but that was not what I was referring to. Most of the Nigerian team usually consists of homegrown players. Unless you are not willing to admit it, they don't play like their foreign counterparts. They are brought up differently. I repeat inviting foreign-born players directly to the national team is a recipe for disaster. It might work out but 7 out of 10 times it won't.tbaba12345: |
Reasonable point, but he's in a 4th-tier team bros, Sevilla B was in the Segunda division when Ondoa played for them. But how can you convincingly argue that Maduka is better than Akpeyi when his team is placed 15th in the 4th-tier. That's blasphemous. tbaba12345: |
The bolded is the most important point. The foreign-born Nigerians should be drafted into the youth teams first, not straight to the senior team. That's sheer desperation. No matter how good a foreign-born is, they could easily be square pegs in round holes- The round hole being the Nigerian team. So they have to familiarize themselves with the Nigerian football culture first. We at home are aware of the different forms of drama that arise in our footballing atmosphere, those guys are probably aware too. Just look at the case of Tammy Abraham- He is still waiting for a call-up to the senior team, hence the wait till April 2020 bullshit, oh that's even about 2 months before Euro 2020 begins. The NFF needs to set standards. There are very few or no cases of players born overseas, but of African descent and played for the senior teams of their countries of birth without playing for their youth sides. We cannot allow these guys bleep us anyhow. Nigeria seems to be the last option for most of them. charlesemeka85: |
I hope you are not celebrating mediocrity here. I can' believe that our profile in the goalkeeping department has fallen to the extent that inviting a 4th-tier german goalkeeper is now a thing. I honestly think he should have kept Akpeyi in the squad. It's a relief though that the guy will not be starting. tbaba12345: |
There have been numerous recommendations for the office of the president recently. Notable among them is Akinwumi Adeshina, the current president of AFDB, following his appearance at the G7 summit, his recent endorsement for reelection by the Ivorian president, and a pose with the king of Swaziland. This gentleman is making the news positively, and you cannot but wonder if he will make a fine president. Honestly, Nigerians these days frequently throw the phrase "this man/woman make a great president" around or they mean to, especially when a Nigerian professional makes the news. Nigerians ask questions like:" how can Buhari be the president when there are people like this" Well, you can't really blame Nigerians, many years of disappointing governance would do that to you. Nonetheless, Akinwunmi Adeshina is not the only individual mentioned, there are others like Moghalu, Oby Ezekweseli, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Fela Durotoye, Omoyele Sowore e.t.c. This background lends credence to the following questions: Who makes a great governor or president? Does a higher academic degree make you a better candidate for the president/governor? Does your job experience on a global scale make you a better candidate?- By this I mean, if you excelled as an economist for the world bank, does your expertise with respect to that fit into the Nigerian context?- you may think if she could manage the world bank, then she undoubtedly can manage the Nigerian economy. As reasonable as that sounds it's not that simple. Does the accumulation of experience lower political positions make you better equipped for the highest political office-governor or president? Are certain aspects of the government or political system more important than others such that leading experts in that area are better suited for governor or president?- For instance, which of these experts would you prefer: a scientist, an engineer, an activist, an economist, a public administrator., or a doctor?-sorry if I didn't mention your profession. This question is particularly important because you can hardly find anyone deeply knowledgeable in multiple aspects of government. Or does strong expertise in one aspect combined with moderate expertise in other areas work? If so how much of each is necessary? Besides the aforementioned, somebody must become finance minister or education minister e.t.c. Afterall someone who would make an excellent minister of Agriculture does not necessarily make an effective president. You can always find the corresponding state-level equivalents of these positions. These are questions I believe we must deliberate upon in our quest to make the best choices for the highest political offices. Keep your comments coming in. |
There was another story that he was retained cos there was a 1 million dollar clause in his contract in the case of dismissal. Where will Nff get this from if they fire him? Unless ofcourse this is not true, i stick to it hehehehe. charlesemeka85: |
I consider Velverde tactless cos he allowed the same fate befall him in 2 successive champions league seasons against Roma and against Liverpool. When a solid team is playing at home, their will could surmount the superior talent of their opponents.Their are numerous instances of this. What did stoke have a reputation for? The fact that a promising/solid Turkish side beat France at home is not an excuse, it's the reality, it's a possibility. Teams play a lot better at home. But the world cup is a neutral Turf. Another good example of the will teams can muster at home was the performance Russia posted at home in the 2018 world cup. They made it through to the quarter-finals, losing narrowly to croatia an eventual finalist. Plus Kante didn't play against Turkey. On your last point, i was mistaken, i am taking it back- They were the first to qualify, but they finished 6 points behind Senegal in the end- that was what i looked at. And you don't have to believe anything i say even if i am right once, each argument should correspond with it's own analysis. charlesemeka85: |
Your first example is disputable, it is only useful if "velverde" is a really good coach without Messi. Hell na, he is not. For turkey they played at home, and their team is a pretty good one. Most teams try hard not to lose at home, even the weak ones. But to lose to a bunch of farmers-excuse me for using "farmers"- is a serious blight. And did you say Magascar was the first team to qualify for Afcon 2019? Without losing a game,Bros i beg, take it back. charlesemeka85: |
You don't get it either, my argument was geared against his claim that rohr has achieved more than all the local coaches we have had. Yes that was his claim , i quote "He has achieved far more He has laid a foundation for years to come" My bone of contention is mostly with the first statement, so please if you do not understand the crux of my argument, you should ask. What is the summit of achievement in football, isn't it winning? That is yet to happen. I repeat again as the other guy quoted "He has not achieved what some of our most successful local coaches have not achieved" A lot of our local coaches may have failed, but some of them have achieved what he has not, so you gotta understand my argument before you make a counterclaim. What is the logic in making a counterclaim to an argument you don't understand. charlesemeka85: |
No sorry, but this is a very weak argument, so the changing of the tournament to consist of 24 teams is the reason why he committed such a tactical blunder against madagascar? Life evolves, so evolve with it. Don't even ascribe his failure to the number of teams, please that's quite moot. If and when he wins the nations cup we can revisit the topic of "achievement", until then we will keep giving him the benefit of the doubt. charlesemeka85: |
You are not getting it. And did you just say most of the team? Careful with your choice of words, unless you have facts to back it up, please don't don't throw them around. Also don't make claims that you cannot back up. Most of the team has benefitted in one way or another from him through club connections, personal help or even career help, and many of them are under 23! The aforementioned statement is huge, you must have inside info to make such a claim. I have tried every combination of words including the keywords to source information on all those claims but to no avail. If it's what you think cos Nigerian players seem to be moving to France lately, it's perfectly reasonable, but you gotta provide facts to ascertain those claims. Otherwise i could as well ascribe that to coincidence. There was a period when a lot of Nigerians were moving to Turkey too, could we say that was cos the Nigerian team's coach then played/coached a team in Turkey previously? On the issue of building a team for 10 years, it so happens that Nigeria's most performing players currently are very young, that is not his doing-i call that lucky- maybe you should thank the youth team coaches too, for discovering them. Now let's see what he does with all that luck. Earthquake1: |
