Health / Re: Can I leave a patient in the hospital because of lack of fund? by Beosten(m): 3:29pm On Jan 20, 2020
healthserve:
Why not create a thread explaining the situation and call for aid or advice on how to raise funds to continue. Than create a thread to ask for permission to bail. You're obviously stressed and finding the nearest hole to jump out of seems to be what's on my head playing again and again like repeated music track.

Create a thread ststating the conditions of the patient and appeal for help. Here Facebook Instagram and see if the effort would even put food in your stomach. Do not run away. Real men don't run from battles, they run into it and fight till the war is won

I have done that already and no one cares about help. I have no strength to fight on anymore. Even if she's discharged, I can't watch her die in my presence.

Wish your baby quick recovery.

Basically what she has is pneumonia caused by inhaling amniotic fluid and that first stool babies usually have in their first few days of life.

It is serious but not often fatal.
Fingers crossed that she gets better very very soon.

Thank you, ma. They have been administering antibiotics since 9th January. They used Fortum injection and one other antibiotic I can't remember. Her improvement has been intermittent. So they switched to ciprofloxaxin yesterday.

They want us to be patient and that oxygen is the immediate necessity.

Good morning, how is she doing ? Is she responding to her environment, light, touch etc.

Patience ? It is well.

Immediate necessity ? What happens on the long run ?

Did she cry at birth ?

May the great physician do what no man can do in her life, heal her completely in Jesus Mighty Name, Amen. She is in my prayers.

Doctor also asked if she cried at birth. I can't answer this question because she was delivered through ceacerean section. She responds to touch, light. Thanks for the prayers ma.

Okay, what I am suggesting is an Oxygen concentrator, it's not a cylinder. It is a machine that is connected to electricity when in one position, or for some models, can be charged and moved around...its like a suitcase, some look like a backpack.

All you have to do is continue topping up the water in the tank which filters the oxygen from the compressor - no extra costs after you buy it.
Bro, I can assure you that it is much more economical to use concentrators than allowing the hospital continue to milk you.
My sis was charged 80k every day just for the oxygen and a life support monitor, this was minus other bills like medications & injections, so I understand what you're going through.

The first picture is exactly the type we ended up buying at about 300k, she needed something big enough as only one of her lungs was functional.
The second picture is what you could get, much smaller and definitely a lot cheaper...also good enough for a baby.

How much is the 2nd one in the pictures?

Hmmmm, what's the time frame for recovery?

No time frame given. She recovers and get worse at intervals

Hello sir, this is not encouraging. sad
Why not try purchasing an oxygen concentrator (less than 5Litres capacity for a baby), that should reduce or even take away this daily bill of 16k.

My sis is recovering from lung cancer and is on chemotherapy now, but for a long time before now, she had being relying on artificial oxygen using her concentrator (it is moveable) because her lungs were unable to take in enough air.
Talk to your doctor to know if he recommends it, or if your baby's need is restricted to the one being provided at the hospital.

You can get the equipment from PEKAMOL in Lagos. Although we didn't get hers from them due to urgency, but they are closer to you and their customer service is good.

The size of movable cylinder they are using for the oxygen is about 10kg and costs 8k if filled to capacity. About two cylinders used daily. If not filled to capacity, it costs 6k. They said that big cylinder of oxygen (the kind of cylinder those street gas reseller use) cost 20k but not movable in the ward.

OMG... times like this I really wish I were a doctor.
Please can someone help with information.
I can't bear seeing babies in such conditions. cry

I just read online that the babies should pass the meconium out in stool usually within 24hrs to 48hrs.

https://www.verywellfamily.com/babies-and-meconium-stools-2634635

I can see from your receipts it's more than 2 days. Please what's the doctor saying?

They said oxygen will always be needed until her condition improves. Doctors said it may not improve overnight. That we should be patient.

Baby Oyewusi was admitted at neonatal unit of Bowen Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso on 9th January 2020. We're spending close to 16k on oxygen per day and there is no end in sight

Do you know any baby who survived this problem?

Also, help us with medical bills.

I want to create a thread and I need your help in creating awareness for it.

I'm someone you met in person long ago. I'm married now. My daughter arrived on January 6th 2020 through CS. She has been diagnosed of meconium aspiration syndrome. That means she needs oxygen everyday until she fully recovers. She became hospitalized on 9th January and at times we spent as much as 16k on oxygen alone per day at Bowen teaching hospital ogbomoso. I want to raise funds for the treatment. I will post all evidences at my disposal. I have spent all I have and borrowed money. I don't know where to go from here.

He should consult Aregbe or Tinubu on this. That city should have at least 2 lgas. Instead, other small villages were joined to the only lga there.

Iwo is a city with only Iwo local government. Villages like Fapo, Araromi, ElemoAdana, Onigangan, and like other four villages I can't remember should not be a part of the local government.

What I meant by that statement is that no woman can be pleased. And if you can't please them that means they won't be 100 percent happy in marriage. When I said "that means she enjoyed me being an okada rider" it's an implied statement to cast women as illogical beings. It seems she's growing as maintaining my silence proves to be very effective.

A man has to make a marriage work or be ready for numerous divorces. Whenever I post on nairaland regarding marriage, I want people to learn, not primarily to follow their take because outsider can't have the best perspective of my home. But I'm always surprised that women often fail to be logical, and I'm always tempted to generalize, having seen what other women around me did.

@Boesten:

Since you have 'spiritual' powers, harness them to 'influence' her to take your suggestion / the right decision.

You can also leave her to face the consequences of a bad decision so she knows the cost of repair and not assume a magic wand is used to reverse them.

You can't use clean powers to manipulate others. And I'm not into astral practices that can be used to achieve a physical objective. I only see things.

I love it when adversities reset people's brain, and I have allowed my wife to have a taste of the bitter lessons before. But I usually shared in the consequences. If I tell you not to take paracetamol, you're free to adhere or not, but I can stop a thief from stealing your money without asking for your permission. I often tell her hairstyle I love to see on her, and she used to say those styles are not in vogue and she won't do them. But I have the right to refuse a decision I know she has no means of carrying out. For example, travelling to a town where commercial transit vehicles are not available. I can either take her there or she hire a vehicle. And since her mission is a frivolity, she would back down. It's the 'paracetamol' example up there I'm referring to.
