@Olat: My advice against Windows firewall is basically because its part of the OS and that always makes it easier to attack. I noticed the more integrated or common your solution, the more prone you are to attack, Note - more recent viruses and spayware have been able to disable Symantec Antivirus, same will surely apply for Windows OS integrated utilities. |
Guys, I was having this crazy discussion with a old uncle who is about to complete his bungalow in Nigeria. He is insisting on installing pit latrine instead of flush toilet, his claims: - Pit latrine lets you "shit better" the way you ben down with your knees almost up to you chets, makes the shit flow out better unlike sitting on flush toilet which makes it harder to push the stuff out. - there is never water supply, hence no need searching for endless water to flush. I beg, help me educate my uncle, is pit Latrine a good idea in the 21st century? Is it hygienic? Is it safe? |
@raldsfield: your post is just hilarious, come to think of it, we all miss these inadequacies in Nigeria and thats what makes "home" unigue. Bye the way, I think the title of the post is wrong, Nigeria is not the happiest Country, "Nigerians are the happiest people" . |
I think calling for SNC and Dictatorship is definitely a backward/negative ideology. It think the problem is that most ideologists have not taken time to explore the uniqueness of Nigeria, to come use with a unique ideology that will build a new generation of Nigerians in the next 20 to 30 years. I wont go into arguement about oil money or on-shore resources, you have to be familiar with the law or statues governing Natural resources in Nigeria. I would rather argue why cant the states Generate income that will not be shared nationally? - these will be in form of Investments in other areas such as agriculture, services, etc. You post about Nigerians becoming one, yet you want certain sections of the country to own income from natural resources of that state, that ammount to sectarianism. Nigerai made a lot of Money from Cocoa, Palm oil, Groundnut before oil, these oils states benefitted from those other states/region then. I dont know what we need to do which will be practical given that I dont aspire to rule in Nigeria. It all goes down to the sincerity of the leader to look at Nigerias peculiarity and drive meaninful integration agenda. Such has to be carried over successive goverments and not the disconnecting scenarios we have had with successive government in the last few decades (Housing for all By year 2000, Health for all by Year 2000, Water for all by Year 2000, Vision 2010 - where are all these programs today?). SNC will not drive this, neither discatorship. Rather, it should be a product of GOOD GOVERNANCE. |
Certification is good for securing a good job and also for career growth. However you need to have the right certification to match the employer needs if you are looking for a Job. If I need a Cisco certified Engineer, I wont bother looking at the CV of an Oracle guy. Let me stress a little more: Certification + Experience gives you a better edge. Depending on employer, demonstration of either or both is required. The problem I see in nigeria is a lot of people with paali, hence the ones with a bit more experience always have the advantage. |
@Afeni: We have seen your vision, please tell us how we can do it with "Federal Character". |
I have used Norton/Symantec, Avast and now AVG Free. I will say AVG free pretty much does the work, its free, its regularly updated, it doesnt take a loda on the machine and work pretty silent. The AVG free version does match all you need with even more features than Norton. If you want pretty much protection, you need three things - Firewall, Antivirus and Antispyware. I recommend not to use the native XP firewall, here is my recommendation: Firewall - Sygate Personal Firewall (Free, discontinued after Symantec bought Sygate over. The last edition works pretty fine) - http://www.tucows.com/preview/213160 Antivirus - AVG Free (It has all the essentials, including a resident memory scanner, an e-mail scanner, and scheduled hard disc scans, regular virus definitions and application updates available from Grisoft) - http://free.grisoft.com/doc/2/lng/us/tpl/v5 AntiSpyware - Windows Defender (http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/default.mspx) By the way, all the above are free. Make sure that if you have to pay, you are doing so for what is absolutely missing. For someone that pretty much stays online all the time, I will say the above pretty much does it all. No need to pay extra buck for features you never use. |
most ladies will want a male boss, I prefer a female boss, , the charm works better on opposite sex |
None of the three will win, |
The Next President should come from Texas : or St Petersburg |

China: go and learn the next super-power language |
I think everyone has started defending Islam or christianity, not focusing on the question. Anyway, here is my catch: Similarities - some context in Old testament and Quran are similar - both have roots from Abraham Differencies - Quran was written by God and given to Mohammed, Bible was written by men inspired by God - Christians are children of God, Moslems are servants of God. - Christianity is about faith and Grace, Islam is about works alone. - Islam does not accept the Sonship of Christ but as a high priest, even sitting with God on Judgement day. - Islam does not belive in divine miracles - Does not belive in Christs divine conception, ascention, belives that Miracles is only attributed to Christ alone. - Islam does not Believe in Holy spirit (In fact, Moslems see Mohammed as the comforter Jesus promised to send after he ascended) - Christianity preaches tolerance among all races, Islam is warlike to any opposition. (see the feedback to Christiaans vs Da Vinci Code to Moslems vs Mohammed cartoon) In the end there is more stark differencies than similarities. |
I have not seen any contradiction with the Bible?. As long as the chieftaincy requirements do not incude fettish sacrifices or shadow alliances, I think its ok. |
N15,000 for stock market??, I think pure water will be the best investment. |
Do you know? the great flood happened on Mars (thats why Mars is desolate today), God transported Noar's Ark through space and brought it to another planet - Earth. So the great Flood never happened on Earth. |
Its is really sad that Nigerians will start killing each other over cartoons most of them even haven't seen. While I agree that it may have offended the Muslims a bit, Its worse, the level of intolerance shown by Moslem's to the issue. I wish the Moslem's would have rioted against Bin Laden and co, against the terrorists that are giving Islam bad name. Which is worse - Cartoon about Mohamed or Religious zealots killing people in the name of Islam? Moslem's need to be open to criticism, argue intelligently, use the media as others and not always resort to violence, maiming and killing, the minute they feel offended. |
yeah - from frying pan to fire. I see more intrigues coming |
@obalola: the fact that he eats gbegiri on the same table with his thugs does not imply grassroot support. Surely, Adelakun and Adedibu do not have grassroot support, they are political thugs that use coercion to intimidate the grassroot. If they have grassroot support, Ibadan streets will not be empty after the impeachment of Ladoja, neither will Agbekoya be threatening fire and brimstone. |
christyne:@christyne : are you sure, its not all about marriage, the YAM LOOKS GOOD (ODDLY TOO) FOR POUNDING to me. It will be worth the experience.. ![]() |
Wow!! - I love my Amala with Hot dripping gbegiri, licking from my elbow up and almost chewing my fingers!!!. .Even though I live in Belgium, the maximum hours without Amala is 24. I suffer most on business trips.. Whats you favourite Nigerian food, tell us how you eat it, what its made from, which part of Nigeria it is from? How long can you stay without it? |
gimme a hot-fart, hot-angel ![]() |
I'm sure this is just the beginning of so many intrigues to follow: First of all, the impeachment smack on sectarian politics, there was a court order to the unconstitionality of the impeachment process (ignored), the arrgoant lawmankers (18) do not constitute mandatory 2/3 required by law, the arrogant lawmakers exludes the speaker, The panel composition constitute illegality, The panel recommendation constituded illegality by not allowing time -disregarding court order, The state chief judge breached a court order to constitue an enquirry panel, The panel did not subtantiate facts, If the governor was guilty of financial misconduct how come he is still around and EFCC has not picked him up unlike DSP?, I hope Ladoja and his supporters do not abandon all efforts to confront this speedily in whatever form. As Yoruba's say - "omo ina laa ran si ina". The issue here cannot be compared with DSP, Dariye or Ngige. This is simply a coup with Agbada soldiers. They have coerced Ibadan people in terror and have possibly blackmailed as many as possible into a political TKO. If Ladoja is being impeached because he did not allow some people to "chop and quench" and the same people can erode the constitutional process to their favour, then I think the President is doing Nigerians a big injustice by standing by and allowing the law to takes its shamefull course. The polical process seems to have taken a plunge into a dark abyss. If the president who vowed to protect the Nigerian constitution can sit by and watch this and say he can't do anything, then he has failed the people, I begin to believe the possibility of his self succession plans.and maybe some people have been right all along. The presidential strategy seems to condone confusion in the polity as a means of securing collective support as the "only man". Nigerians need to act within every cosntitutional means to arrest this decay. |
@silver: OBJ has not made a 3rd term bid. Its currently only speculation |
My new year resolution is not to make any resolution at all... |
you need to activate for the individual accounts. Select the account ->modify account->User options-> select New mail notifications. The option is available for Hotmail, yahoo, aim, ICQ. Doesnt seem available for gmail yet. |
We dont need another leader like OBJ. We need another leader much better than OBJ. I agree Nigerians must be ready for the unknown, not speculating about retired generals or emergency politicians from the 4th republic. Would be nice to have a lady President or Vice president this time. As such, I believe Okonjo Iweala and Dora Akunyuli comes to mind. There are a lot of Nigerians and politicians with good will, integrity. The hope is we dont turn our searchlight into the murky waters of past leaders. |
Gaim is cool, with so many add-ons, themes, etc. Im able to consolidate my yahoo, msn, googletalk, aim and integrate with my corporate IM clients on Sametime and Jabba. Im sure Farriel is talking about something else and not Gaim. Gaim has no adware or spyware. Its got a lot of integration to provide functionalities as in most of the native clients it support, including mail notification, mood icons, presence, etc. The fact that I may integrate my corporate IMs with personal in the same client makes it cool. The closest rival is Trillian, but you need the pro version to be able to have Sametime, googletalk, jabba etc. |
or St Petersburg
