PoliticsRe: China and Russia hooking up by Bibi(m): 2:56pm On Aug 25, 2005
The hookup is just on paper. China will not do anthing if US invades Russia, vice versa for Russia. The chinese have realised that power is not in military might, but economic dominance, they wont risk anything to jeopardize their booming economy.

This is jus an attempt to keep their old communist ideology alive. Its no doubt that while it failed in Russia, China may have redefined communism, making it the next superpower - economically, politically and population wise.

Russia, unable to practice full-fleged democracy is dilly-dallying between China and the West. I wont be surprise if they sign same pact with India soon.

PoliticsRe: Govt okays N80 per litre for petrol by Bibi(m): 4:35pm On Aug 23, 2005
Again, Nigerians are being asked to subsidize bureaucratic inefficiency. With Petrol now costing about $0.60/litre, its the most expensive in OPEC community. I wonder where the benefit is for Nigerians if we have to pay the same pump price as other countries importing from us. I dont live in the US, but it seems that petrol in Nigeria (producer) is now more expensive than US (importer).
ProgrammingRe: Nigerian Linux Distribution: do we need one? by Bibi(m): 4:09pm On Aug 22, 2005
I think it will be an effort in wrong direction. We cant even manage our own domain name (:. We should stick to any of the various free distributions available.

Instead of developing a Nigerian linux distribution, we should be targetting more Nigerian-made applications for Linux, i.e. most payroll/human resource applications in Nigeria are home grown and today, the platform is mostly windows.
PoliticsRe: Nigeria, INEC: Electronic Voting for Election 2007? by Bibi(m): 2:14pm On Aug 22, 2005
I think Nigeria should go for e-voting. However, the system needs to be made simple enough to ensure our illiterate population can cast their votes easily. I believe this is the fear that some Nothern governors have expressed. It is surely a way foreward vs queueing (security issues) and secret ballot (open rigging).

I know that no system can eliminate rigging (courtesy of last 2 US presedential elections where votings were e-rigged), however the possiblity of reducing the magnitude of rigging is worth investing into.

FoodRe: Fast Food Joints by Bibi(op): 12:06am On Aug 21, 2005
Im in love with those bukas in Lagos and Ibadan, serving hot dripping gbegiri with amala and mountains of bokoto. This is the real thing. They may look dirtier than tantalizer or mister biggs, however with the heat from the cooking, no virus/germ can survive the heat attack.

Mi belief that the safest joints are those special bukas o jare. I visited tantalizer twice when i was in nigeria lately and I ended up with stomach aches...

PoliticsRe: Anambra: Governor Ngige Asked to Leave Office by Bibi(m): 10:40pm On Aug 13, 2005
Im sure it will take time to pass through Appeal court and if Ngige losses or win, another long time before supreme court.  Most probably Ngige will complete his 4 years before final Supreme court decision.

The whole legal process regarding election tribunals should be revisited to ensure fast delivery of justice, othewise, delivering judgment 2 or 4 years after the culprit has been in office is nothing but judicial robbery.
Christianity EtcRe: Fighting For Your Country. Is It Biblical? by Bibi(m): 7:29pm On Aug 13, 2005
The Bible is silent in some cases, thats when man must use his intelect to drive a decision. There is no where in the bible that says you must not fight for your country. So fighting for your country is biblical. You are protecting an entity allowed by God into creation.

On the other hard, we need to separate solders from murderers. If you have to kill during an active war as a soldier, it is not a sin (quote - there is no where in the bible that individual soldiers are called murderers when they kill in active war).

However if the killing is not in an active war, then the sin of murder comes in. This is where "Thou shall not kill comes in".

Remember, prayer without works? If you refuse to fight for your country at war and only pray, GOD will not just send his army from heaven to fight for you. Remember, this is one of the 3 tests Christ endured.

Soldering is puting faith to work!!!!.
TV/MoviesRe: Star Wars 3: For those who have watched it. by Bibi(m): 7:13pm On Aug 13, 2005
It ROCKS.

Im black and I love Star Wars.....

Those of you who tagged star wars as a white thing are simply out of touch with real entertainment. Entertainment shouldnt be a black or white thing.

May the force be with you all. TURN FROM THE DARK SIDE
TravelRe: What can one do In Lagos? by Bibi(m): 7:06pm On Aug 13, 2005
It really depends, are you looking to enjoy your holiday or looking for business in Lagos?

If you want to enjoy your holiday, tray to spend more time outside Lagos. See the thread on holiday spots in Nigeria.

.....Otherwise, I say, be careful of the yahoo boys smiley

FamilyRe: New Wife, No Womb by Bibi(m): 6:50pm On Aug 13, 2005
If the guy wishes to take another wife so be it. Why didnt the damsel open up about the womb before marriage? Simply, this lady only cares about herself and not the man. She should have opened up before marriage and let the guy make his decision. As it is now, the guy feels trapped by his marriage vow and faith, when infact he was cheated into that position.

Anyway, if the man desperately needs a child which his wife cannot give, there are various ways these days : Surrogate mother, adoption. These should be considered before any separation or polygammy.

Christianity EtcRe: Who Really Rules The World, Jehovah God or Satan?? by Bibi(m): 12:01pm On Aug 13, 2005
Im not very versed in bible verses, but I do remember clearly it was stated in the bible somewhere that:
1. Whatever Satan posses is because God allowed it.
2. Somewhere in Job, we understand that Satan takes permision from God to test men.
3. God allows rulers/leaders as he wishes based on his planned outcomes of his divine will.

So, it goes that, whatever Satan has or posses is because God allows.

However, there is one important thing that you overlook - freewill.

God or Satan do not compel followership. Rather, it is mans free will to choose which to follow. If men wishes to follow the devil more than God, does that imply rulership? especially when the supposed ruler is given grace by a diety? So who is the real ruller?

Man's selfish ego and greed to be godlike (seeking control and followership) will always move them towards Satan who sought the same against GOD.

So if we have to answer your question logically. Man has free will to choose between God and Satan. As long as man has this free will, man chooses what to do. That choice is either for God or Satan but is not controlled by God or Satan, but man himself.

As such, I declare Man rules. The result of man's rule is more evil than good.

HealthRe: Ikoyi, VI Have Highest Hospital Density in the World! by Bibi(m): 5:59pm On Aug 12, 2005
I wonder why the high density in VI and Ikoyi and not in Mushin, Ajegunle, etc. It has nothing to do with healthcare delivery quality, rather a fierce financial battle for the VI & Ikoyi millionaires pockets.

oh boy, I don't think this needs to be argued. This is a thin line between blasphemy and glorifying the devil.
