@Obong; I disagree with you. There is a difference between targeted marketting and spamming. Yes, if a company sends out a mail once a while to its subscribers, then its ok. If however it starts sending tons on mails out to those who have not subscribed to it and of course advertise anything from pencil, to Indecency, viagra, inks, etc. They are all an abuse of the medium and should face prosecution. Look up the meaning of spamming, its not limited to advance fee fraud and types alone. I get tons of mails clogging my email everyday from addresses I never subscribed to. You can say many of these are advertising, but to know that only about 5% of my inbox content is useful content and the rest, these so called advertising that clogs my servers, puts infrastructures in high maintenance and lures unsuspecting people into fake businesses. To my view (and represented by the Anti Spam law recently implemented in the US and soon in Europe), this is Spamming and needs to face prosecution. There is nothing draconian about this and if it is, then so be it. Note: I know something about electronic marketting, in fact you can call me a specialist there. And to call spamming a markettng tool, thats sordid. |
It is an irony, this thing between Catcholics vs Rest of Christians. I have seen many relationships die midway because of this. I don't know the details, however, I fail to appreciate the intollerance especially of the Catholics at marrying outside their sect. Anyway, what I will say is that those involved need to be guided by God. God commanded us to worship him, not as Pentecostals or Catholics. Infact, God do not sponsor any sect. What God sponsors is relationship with him through Christ. As long as this relationship is maintained, it doesnt matter if you are Catholic, Presbyterean, Pentecostal, Aladura or whatever. Its about the principle of relationship with God that overrides everything, not sect. So if I'm catholic and my Catcholic church will stop me from marrying a non catcholic, then I will quit that catholic and go to another church and marry, as long as the church worships by the biblical principles. |
I have often come across many Nigerians overseas and in the end, we all talk about "No place like Home". Everyone still refers to Nigeria as home. The Irony is, many of these folks havnt been to Nigeria in 5, 10, 12 years or longer. And I begingto ask myself; 1. Where is home for you? 2. If you love home so much, can you be afford to be away for a decade or more? 3. How much home is HOME when you hardly know what is going on there anymore. I speak the same to folks living in Nigeria that dont know their hometown/viallage anymore, nor have been there in ages. Where is your HOME? |
its a annoying crime. Anyway, since Nigeria is now joining the big league by banning spamming, I'm waiting to see how it is implemented in Nigeria. You know, we Nigerians implement everything with fanfare (without much substance, strategy, plans, etc). My fear is that, under this new law in Nigeria, ISPs will become heavily targeted - rightly or wrongly. So what happens in Nigeria case: 1. Police start raiding ISPs or small businesses with Internet connectivity. Result = Settlement. 2. ICPC raids ISP and small/mid size businesses. Result=Maybe nothing, ISPs start policing their clients (confidentiality issue), Companies start spoofing their employee mails more=Breach of confidentiality. Spamming should be extended to cover unsolicited phone calls offering offers/businesses. My brother has called with internet phones from some ISPs in the past (before the spread of GSM) and soon after, maybe a day or two, there starts the incessant 419 calls/fax to transfer money or collect project balance payments etc. The fact is is these ISPs take all the numbers and are either using it themselves or sell it to 419ers?. So the issue with ISPs is a much larger scope. I hope the ISPs on this forum do not see this as an attack, but an encouraged to encourage their colleagues to live with some measurable ethics. The ISP in Nigeria has become a front for other shady deals. |
@obong; what is plain spamming? Spam is spam - unsolicited mail. As far as I'm concerned, the intent doesn't matter. The fact that its unsolicited and intrusion on privacy of individual makes it liable to whatever prosecution. |
One of the dangers of Interracial relationships are those who claim they have nothing against it, but don't support it either. From the blacks side, its the ladies who cry fould most. If you all follow the trends so far, in general, its the ladies that have something against it most, maybe because the feel they are losing their black studs or maybe its an admission that there something about white babes that black babes feel restless about. @nferyn; It would be nice to know how white babes are reacting to white guys with black babes. |
Thats additional ammunition for EFCC. The good question is whether we have the infrastructure to check and prosecute Spammers in Nigeria. |
what if you wanted two (a boy and a girl) and you ended up with two girls, when will you stop looking for a boy? |
One of the contentious issues in marriages is "how many kids"? In many cases, this becomes an issue if the couple were unable to have a boy or a girl and the tendency to try more and then of course, the likelihood to have more kids than they ever intended. How many kids are enough? If couple are unable to have a male or female child, is that enough reason to beat their benchmark? And talking about how many kids to have in a family, I find the following, a real benchmark. Would you have 16 kids and attempt more? (link) Related: How Many Children Will You Love To Have? |
@layi: How can you determine which method God will use? He doesnt have to prevent conception, in fact, that is likely the last thing God will do. Rather, he uses natural disasters, wars, etc to keep balance, or why do you think he used fire in Sodom & Gomorrah or Floading in case of Noah? Or are you saying that God massacred the people by allowing the Asian Tsunami or Katrina? We simply dont have what it takes to determine Gods response in any situation. |
@nferyn; I completely agree with you. However, maybe from a different point of view, borrowing your last comments. I don't see weak states, I see corrupt states. The multinationals are like every business man, make profits, more and more and they need to do that to keep their shareholders. As you said, the weak economies actually have more to gain from Globalisation. Multinationals are moving operations to low cost economies (outsourcing, less cost, more profit), the big industrial nations are looking at importing more from poor nations (cost of goods/sales is low, affordable). If you put all that together, then why are we complaining. It doesnt look to me like its the US or the West that is cheating Nigeria (example), rather it is Nigeria that is suffering from poor leadership not to have benefited from the opportunity. The stable economies in Asia are reaping the fruits of globalisation as many of these trannationals continue to outsource their operations there, the Leadership problem in Africa will worry any businessman from putting too much money into the ground. For instance, most of the money borrowed by Nigeria are not used for projects with US companies or companies from Europe (to a little extent), rather they went into frivolous projects that we can't even explain, a significant one is the Ajaokuta Steel project which was handled by Russians and seems will never be completed. You see, considering all these and more, this is why I fault Sokari's Economic hitmen thing. The Grand design for the Aids and Loans is not to cheat, but rather, we find ourselves in very bad situation as a result of not spending the loans wisely as intended. The question is why are some countries that have taken the Loans (Mozambique and some other Assian Economies) doing so well and turning their economies around unlike Nigeria and rest of majority of African countries. The real problem is not the US or the multinationals, its the Poor leadership inherrent in those (poor) countries. |
@I.B: I do not base my arguements on immagination or hearsay. Whenever we have data on OBJs currupt practices, I will takle him with the same relish I'm tackling DSP. There will always be a scapegoat. It needs to start somehwere, so if its DSP, so be it. Dariye ran away from UK under similar circumstances and now most pulic officials in Nigeria (I read in the Nigerian online dailies ) are now shying away from overseas trip..., why? Because they fear that what happened to DSP may happen to them. If they don't have any Skeleton, no reason not to travel as usual? What is DSP doing with more than a million pounds in a brifcase he travellled with from Nigeria? If its legitimate, why don't him move it through the banks, why carry in briefcase? If you are against DSP being a scapegoat, then it looks to me that you are on of those rubber stamping corruption in Nigeria. As for OBJ, I disagree with you, I don't know if hes a corrupt man. I don't even know if any other politician is corrupt. But what I know is, if you are caught, you dance to the music. No one is gulity until proven so. |
Well, you guys have said it all , so I dont have anything to say. Globalization in itself has positive or negative benefits. The act of IMF or World Bank granting loans is in itself a good thing to help societies with lower income to have more money for development. The main issue is that the countries we are talking about dont use the monies as intended, neither do they implement the policies they agreed on. For example, most of the loans taken by African countries and Nigeria in particular were "chopped" by individuals while the nationals are made to suffer in paying back the debt (i.e. accumulated debt during the 2nd republic ammounted to about 28 billion dollars, which we are all paying back until today). Mozambique took the same loan and implemented the policies, now they have the highest economic growth rate in Africa and one of the best in the World. I do not think that the intent with the policies is to enslave but drive accountability. One of the conditions for Nigeria securing the $18 billon debt relief is (1) Tackling corruption (2)Sustain the democratic institutions, etc. These requirements are not for enslavement but ensuring probity in the goverment to make sure that the loans can be well utilized and paid back in due course. I dont doubt that US or the West in General may have a hidden agenda to command and control the weak economies, however I see most of the remaks by Sokari entertaining, James Bond style criminal immagination with economic hitmen living and operating in a fantasy comic world. I bet this goes more for a Tom Clancy or Robert Ludlum style Novel than an economic reality. |
Its Gods way of bringing balance to everything. I dont think it relates to anything like "the end is here". I think only GOD can answer this question himself. |
@I.B: I disagree with your arguement that OBJ should influence the realease of the governor and turn a blind eye to his offence. If so, why shouldnt OBJ do this for every Nigerian caught for 419 or money laundering? DSP should be made to face the music. In fact, the Nigerian law offering immunity to public officials from prosecution needs to be repealed, this is the big problem why ICPC could not bring these currupt politicians to justice. For your info, Bush will make anyone face the music. @I.B: Your arguement sounds like a paid adverticement. |
Cant remember ![]() |
Well, all we have are pictures and tales of turned down contracts. Hope we dont have to wait for infinity to hear the music. |
@tunku: just try to spend at least 1 day a year in Nigeria and i can assure you, that fuzziness will be gone for good. ![]() |

@Chxta: Im sure if we had made it to the world cup yesterday, there wont be need for your last comment. Anyway that is history. Since we dont make the world cup, lets see if we have learnt anything in our preparation for the African Nations cup. We didnt lose the world cup ticket because of Obi or Chukwu or Okocha. We lost is due to very poor administration. The foresight was missing. As long as we confuse patriotism with success, then we will always have this kind of dilema. We all knew Chukwu was tactically weak, yet for patriotic reasons we kept in there too long until the damage was done. We have better indegineous coaches and definitely Chukwu is not on top. Also, the seeminly mafia setup in the coaching and members of the camp will always betray Nigerians, putting the mafia and personal concerns upfront the National need. |
@cletuskpelle: Just go out with the lady and find out what she wants. From your post, looks like you dont mid her either. I can say shes behaved nicely so far by not accepting your tips. We are in the 21st century, so nothing wrong with a lady making the 1st move. I know some old fashioned folks would judge her already because of that. |
I think if confronted with a sudden, life threathening emergency, we will not be looking for anything to save, but yourself. So "I" am the only one posession I will retain. I believe once the disaster is over, my secured brain will be able to perform a disaster recovery (or Business continuity planning) for me to get started again. |
@Chxta, I sincerely hope your statistics hold. We will know in less than 24 hours. I believe Nigeria has helped (or is helping) Rwanda to assemble a full squad with some promisses which we will not be privileged to know unless it becomes scandalous. Anyway, while we are paying Rwandans a fortune to make sure they frustrate the Angolans, I'm not so sure about our readiness for Zimbabwe. We have all taken it for granted that they will be walkover for Eagles. I think the matches will not be decided on fair play. I see them as games of wits, nerves and intrigues, of scheming with referees and linesmen and the various footballers treacherous tactics. I'm sure as Nigeria is doing, Angola is not leaving anything to chance. Hence we will see not a tactical match, but a dreadfull 90 minutes in with the bad(der?) team will most likely win, employing every trickery known and unknown. |
Yes, I can hear God loud and clear - Carry on, my dear boy BIBI!!!! Ive germinated (and they all love me silly, both mums and siblings) a few while I continue sowing. No matter how hard, I dont give away any part of me. So my wives and sibblings are very much part of my daily life. |
I think the average Nigerian man's definition of a woman is on the challenge here. I think we should ask the Nigerian men (living in Nigeria) their perspectives. |
OMG!!, You are indeed the Balogun of Edinburg.. ![]() We now have 36 states plus Abuja, the federal capital territory. See details here : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/States_of_Nigeria |
Dear Husband: I'm writing you this letter to tell you that I'm leaving you for good. I've been a good woman to you for seven years and I have nothing to show for it. These last two weeks have been hell. Your boss called to tell me that you had quit your job today and that was the last straw. Last week, you came home and didn't notice that I had gotten my hair and nails done, cooked your favourite meal and even wore a brand new negligee. You came home and ate in two minutes, and went straight to sleep after watching the game. You don't tell me you love me anymore, you don't touch me or anything. Either, you are cheating or you don't love me anymore, what ever the case is, I'm gone. P.S. If you're trying to find me, don't! Your BROTHER and I are moving away to West Virginia together! Have a great life! Your EX-Wife Dear Ex-Wife Nothing has made my day more than receiving your letter. It's true that you and I have been married for seven years, although a good woman is a far cry from what you've been. I watch sports so much to try to drown out your constant nagging. Too bad that doesn't work. I did notice when you cut off all of your hair last week, the first thing that came to mind was "You look just like a man!" My mother raised me to not say anything if you can't say anything nice. When you cooked my favourite meal, you must have gotten me confused with MY BROTHER, because I stopped eating pork seven years ago. I went to sleep on you when you had on that new negligee because the price tag was still on it. I prayed that it was a coincidence that that morning and your negligee was $49.99. After all of this, I still loved you and felt that we could work it out. So when I discovered that I had hit the lotto for ten million dollars, I quit my job and bought us two tickets to Jamaica. But when I got home you were gone. Everything happens for a reason I guess. I hope you have the filling life you always wanted. My lawyer said with your letter that you wrote, you won't get a dime from me. So take care. P.S. I don't know if I ever told you this but Carl, my brother was born Carla. I hope that's not a problem. whats about PINK. I think that will be sooo cooolllll., Imagine, PINK POLICE .On a serious note. I think the police should go back to the light blue tops on black trousers. They don't have to look so mean in all black. Anyway, there needs to be a dress essence imbibed in the police. No matter what colour, if the policemen continue dressing shabbily, dirty and wearing sandal/sleepers with uniforms on duty...., aarrggghhh. |
