Nigeria as a country is being severely raped on a regular by the rich, poor, young and old.
Everybody wants something with nothing to give back.

The returning of the Diasporas will only add to the discombobulation already on the ground.

Nigeria will be a better place as soon as we are faithful enough to accept our deficiency as sappy citizens being led by bunch of dolts

The essence of the post is that opportunities are opening up at home both Nigerians at home and diasporas should grab it. There theives everywhere both at home and in diasporas. I have just come to realise what baba meant (Obj ) when he came to europe and the uk on official tour, u peole should come home there are loooot ooof ooopportunies   10,000 political jobs every 4 years.

I would have preferred this state of mind:
Nigeria as a nation has great potential to reclaim her crown as the giant of Africa at this time. This is a perfect time for people to return home and be part of the history. Come back home to develop your country.

Our problem in Nigeria is simply money or opportunities.
Most Diasporas will not return if "money" or "opportunity" is not involved.

It is all about selves and very little about the country.

This is why houses in Lekki are clocking over 2m dollars today( this area has no constant water supply, no constant power supply, no good schools, no good roads and no reliable medical resource), but the houses are over 2m dollars.

There is something wrong with this picture. 
So, instead of all of us running back home for opportunities, when are we going to start returning back home to sincerely contribute toward the development of this backward country?

I'm yet to meet a single Nigerian who is returning home to sincerely contribute toward the development of Nigeria. Everybody wants to return home to make quick money.

Diaspora politicians are mostly the worst.
They do not clearly understand politics in Nigeria, most of them return back home only because their back is against the wall, and not because they care about Nigeria.
They mainly return with great ideas and big talk that are purely embedded with zero action.

It usually takes up to 6 - 8 months for most diaspora politicians to join the rest of their original homegrown corrupt brothers and sisters.

About the scholarship thingy, I am not so sure. Cant fathom how scholarships can be bad especially if it is given to promising students.

I will support the scholarship as long as it's being given to the poor, and not to those folks that already have more than 25m dollars in their foreign bank account.

Every top government officials should be forced to send their children to attend Nigerian Public schools. If this policy is implemented, I can assure you that standard of education in Nigerian will rapidly advance in less than 2 years.

Why can't we get rid of Yaradua and declare this young man our president?
He's currently the only politician with a thinking brain.

Furthermore, leading Lagos State is not the same as leading Nigeria as a country.

I've advocated for banning foreign medical treatment/ studying in abroad for many years; and it is very nice to see the beginning of the implementation.
Now, executing guilty corrupt government officials will be next on the list.

Fashola has shown us that he clearly understands why he was elected and pretty much determined to elevate and bring Lagos state back on the map.

This latest development will force these folks to improve our educational and medical standards. In-fact, it should be part of our constitution. All government officials should utilize our educational and medical resources at home. Their immediate families must attend Nigerian public schools.
No more flying abroad for headache.

Does it make any sense for Nigerian minister of education to ship his children away from Nigeria to study in abroad?
If governors, ministers and others are allowed to continue to fly abroad for medical check up or headache, our poor medical standard will remain poor till the end of time.

In politics, there isn't permanent enemies or friends and it isn't about right or wrong.

To successfully reduce corruption in Nigeria, something absolutely unprecedented (public execution) must be done.

For example: Ehindero is still walking around freely today with his balls in his hand, Ibori is chilling, Kalu is busy banging heads together, Ribadu is constantly shitting all over our constitution, while El-rufai is missing busy studying how to take over the world.

The system is obviously not working, we must try something different, but deadly; or else governors will continue to steal, EFCC will continue to arrest/ release and the citizens will also continue to suffer, while our lovely country remains on a dusty floor.

The key to a successful war against corruption in Nigeria is sending a firm message; an effective message is usually sent through making use of few scape-goats.
A deadly repercussion must be put in place or else corruption will continue to rise in Nigeria till the end of time.

This is another indication that shows that the strategy currently being used to fight war against corruption in Nigeria is not effective.

This administration is not yet even 2 yrs old, and Mr. Agagu has already discovered a way to chop down 25b Naira; while kids (the future) are busy roaming around the state without sufficient resource to help develop them into a productive (adults) citizens. It is absolutely despicable and very obvious that our current system is not working.

Guys, please close your eyes for a minute and think about what would happen to the country, the citizens and the leaders if Aguga was now facing public execution at his home-town if guilty?

Trust me, we've got to drop few scape-goats before we could witness the change we've been craving for in Nigeria, it's that simple.

The way you talk doesn't necessarily qualify you for a presidential position.
Don't misunderstand my point, because it is a great skill as a leader to be able to communicate effectively; but at the same time the way you talk still represents one of the accessories (may be a leather sit) that comes in a luxury car. The most important part is still the stamina of the engine.

I have nothing against the man, he's OK, but I do not see in him the stamina or the skill to effectively lead Nigeria. I also didn't think he handled himself well when a conflict irrupted in DC between himself and Ambassador Rotimi.

A true leader must be respected, but also understand how to give respect.

I think Ojo Madueke is fine at his current position, but as a president, he would absolutely fall apart in a very short period.

Absolutely, leaders are not the only problem facing Nigeria as a nation, the citizens represent the major portion of our problems.
Leaders would only deliver what the citizens deserve; so far, the citizens haven't shown anything tangible to prove that they deserve better than what is being delivered to them on a regular. Pretty much we all feel very comfortable by just going with the flow at all time (it doesn't matter if the flow is bad, ugly or worst).

The folks that come here to cry day and night without a single solution are the same people that go home tomorrow to step all over our laws (by giving bribe, accepting bribe, applying for multiple passports/ driving licenses with multiple names, buying visa, inflating contract, smoking weed and so on). So, why are we so quick to blame the leaders? Are we forgetting that these same leaders also originated from our retarded and faithless societies? So, why do we expect anything sustainable from these leaders?
May be its time for us to pay more attention to the societies where these leaders emerge from, may be its also time for every citizen to start playing his or her part by making more use of our mirrors at home. A crazy man becomes cured the day he realizes that he's one crazy dude.
I guarantee you that things we change for better as soon as we (the citizens) make it clear to the leaders that we are the problem, but we are serious to make adjustment because we deserve more.

Furthermore, instead of getting married to only war against corruption, why not also get married to war against ineffectiveness and inefficiency? Let's make it a polygamous family, and you'll witness how these sugar-head leaders would take us serious.

Nigerian leaders must be challenged in everyway; they need clear understanding that the vacation is over, the honey-moon has gone away forever, it's time these butt-heads show us something productive for their time in office.
Even if a 5yrs old child isn't challenged, the negative effect would be visible sooner or later.
It is super apparent that our leaders are not challenged enough, therefore they take these positions with a mentality that says "I have nothing to lose, but a lot to gain being a leader in Nigeria" This mentality must be vigorously attacked.

We must also never forget that Nigerians are parts of the most intelligent people that exist today and Nigeria as a country, on the other hand still represents one of the wealthiest and most fortunate countries around the world.
It is obvious that we are enormously blessed without any question, but we just don't have the heart and leadership to distribute the blessings effectively and efficiently. And this is sad.
Just like the 7 points agenda, GSM subscribers bill is also a brilliant idea, but the concept can not be achieved by itself. We need competent and dedicated leaders to lead us in this new dispensation.
A better and reliable platform or foundation must be implemented before anything else could be accomplished in Nigeria.

Mr. IGP first needs to address all obstacles that would undermine his idea before boldly coming out to introduce this concept. But of course, the man has nothing to lose, therefore there is no need to waste time on evaluating any concept, Nigerian citizens are known to gladly accept rubbish from their leaders at anytime and anyday. And it has been this way for over 40 years.
My question is: How long are we willing to live or function this way?

As the citizens of Nigeria, together we must change our attitude and upgrade our expectations, or else the leaders wouldn't quit feeding us rubbish and stashing away government funds in Swiss Banks for themselves.

Leaders can not change things in Nigeria, it is our responsibility as citizens to bring the change.

Look, no one is against the idea. The idea is obviously brilliant, but the effective functionality of this idea in Nigeria is less than zero. And the IGP (of all people) should have known better.
There are tons of obstacles that need to be addressed, before we even start talking about such an idea.

If the man doesn't have a functional idea, I think he should just shut up and proceed with his retirement ceremony.

We must hold our leaders responsible.
Our retarded system must be modified and solidified immediately, or else nothing would work.

A governor (or IGP) that is ineffective and inefficient for 4 years is the same as being a corrupt governor (or IGP) for 4 years; both parties should be treated equally as criminals.
The citizens must do their part, they must be willing to work together, by making things very difficult for these incompetent leaders. We need not to settle for less anymore in Nigeria, we must hold them responsible by making sure that they are doing their jobs correctly.

It is obvious that IGP's intention was to empower identification process in Nigeria; so, why not start by introducing a better strategy that would empower the application process for Nigerian international passport or driving license or birth certificate?
How the hell does he think it is the responsibility of private sector (profit organizations, for that matter) to keep an accurate identification information of Nigerian citizens? It makes no sense.

My friends, once again, a legal Nigerian international passport or driving license could be bought in less than 2 hours in Nigeria (with fake name) and an applicant needs not to be present to make it happen.
Therefore, I think Mr. IGP should first pay attention to these areas before proposing for GSM companies to keep an accurate database of citizens information.

IGP needs to ask himself whether the information he's asking the GSM companies to keep would be reliable (accurate) or not.

The Inspector General of Police, Sir Mike Okiro, is sponsoring a draft bill seeking the enactment of a law to order GSM companies in Nigeria to register the names and addresses of all their subscribers.

Titled “A bill for an Act to make it mandatory for all GSM companies to register their subscribers”, the draft bill seeks to make it a punishable offence for a GSM company to fail to comply, the penalty of which could lead to closure of the company, or a fine of N1million Naira. The bill also seeks to punish a subscriber who fails to register his or her numbers within a given period.

The Nigeria Police is sponsoring this bill in order to control the use of GSM phones, which are now being used by miscreants, to commit crimes like kidnapping, obtaining under false pretence, etc.

In fact, this is a nice idea, but in order for this type of strategy to be effective in Nigeria we must first modify our blemished and faithless system.
If it takes an average citizen less than 2 hours to buy a legal Nigerian internation passport or driving license (with a fake name), how the hell do you think registering of GSM subscribers information would work?

It makes no sense to be prescribing for a new kitchen if the foundation of the building itself is extremely weak.
I think it would be more productive if we first discover a way to first solidify or strengthen the capacity of the foundation before thinking about upgrading the kitchen.

Mr. IGP needs to pay more attention to other important areas before proposing this excellent idea.
One of our problems in Nigeria is: we do not think broadly enough before introducing our concept; and I think Mr. IGP is once again exhibiting this syndrome.
