I hate OBJ so I must hate EFCC
My man, you got it wrong again, I do not hate OBJ, but I love my country, Nigeria.

FYI:
There is certainly nothing wrong with doing away with OBJ's mess and putting something else more adequate together as a replacement.
This was the main agenda of this new admin; they understand the importance of this move, but for some reasons it has not be executed.

Be patient, it is never over till the fat lady sings.

Let's wait and see!

You forgot to address the rest of my post; why pick and choose? Please go ahead and address it all:
There is certainly nothing wrong with doing away with OBJ's mess and putting something else more adequate together as a replacement.
It is what it is; the failure of the father continues to linger in the soul of the children.

My friends, mark it down: The fight against corruption will continue to move in circle as long as OBJ's mess (EFCC) continues to exist in Nigeria.

those who talk about rule of law and efficiency are yet to site any section of the constitution that supports the Agf's clandestine mission
.

Could someone please tell me why I should quote or site a weak constitution?

EFCC and the rest of these clowns should have been abolished from day one. If this had taken place, we wouldn't be wasting time talking about the AGF.

There is certainly nothing wrong with doing away with OBJ's mess and puting something else more adequate together as a replacement.

The existence of the EFCC (OBJ's mess) will continue to breakdown the spirit of this new admin; absolutely nothing good can come out of this organization. It is over, their reputation is already greatly damaged and people will continue to cry foul play regardless of any accomplishment of this organization.

One doesn't have to be a scientist to figure out that at this point the existence of EFCC is causing more damage than anything else.

When I hear EFCC, I hear OBJ and it is very sad that many other great Nigerian citizens feel the same way
Why not just dissolve the headache for ever?

Mckren:

Why are you so perturbed with the position of the AGF?
It is clear to all that EFCC has a despicable reputation in regards to fighting corruption in Nigeria and extremely incompetent to get anything done effectively and efficiently.
But still in your book, this same sketchy EFCC is untouchable.

Please give me a break!

It is very certain to me that you're being selective with your views as usual.

I think you will be happy if RIBADU gets a chance to re-write the constitution of Nigeria.

AGF is only doing his job as designed and I'm sure that the president has his back 100%.

@magneto:

Firstly, I'm not IBB's son, not even close.

Secondly, don't ever listen to MAMAJAMA, he's one confused individual who needs strong medication.

Finally, you need not to be in the circle to figure out Nigerian politics. All it requires is common sense, wisdom and ability not to think like a typical Nigerian.

You must allow your mind to traverse out of the box, always view things from a different angle, not from the angles they've designed for you, you must not be bias, speak out and stick to your guns and finally you must approve or see yourself as the leader at all time.

Very honest, sincere and a best friend anyone could ever have.
Politics › Re: Should The Attorney General Of The Federation Be Sacked? by BigB11(m): 2:32pm On Sep 19, 2007
Politics is a devil.

In order to make adjustment or correct messy situation, there will always be certain steps taken by the government that probably wouldn't make any sense to you and I.
And this is a good example.

In fact, United States continues to face their own political issues on a regular; which result into making unique and senseless decisions. These decisions may not make sense, but trust me, there is reason for every single action.

That is politics.

AGF is not going anywhere, he's only doing what is designed to correct things.
Politics › Re: Should The Attorney General Of The Federation Be Sacked? by BigB11(m): 2:20pm On Sep 19, 2007
Absolutely NO.

For what?

The inner circle  clearly understands what AGF is currently going through. The bed is already setup by OBJ's regime and it will not be easy to get things back on track, especially when you have been informed not to touch certain individuals e.g OBJ, Odili and many more.

FYI: stop wasting your time, AGF is in a position where all his decisions will not be approved without the consent of the president; hence the man is not going anywhere and his voice is indirectly the voice of the president.
He has been selected for these duties to rectify some of the mess OBJ left behind and aggregate the divided nation.

It will take some time for us to realize what this admin is trying to accomplish by taking these steps.

Stay cool and see what happens.
Politics › Re: Who Is Chief Gani Fawehinmi (san)? by BigB11(op): 11:07am On Sep 19, 2007
This decision by Yar'Adua is a perfect one.
OBJ has created this problem many months before Yar'Adua; with the use of EFCC (Ribadu) he fought corruption with one hand and then embraced it with the other hand.
As a man of integrity, Yar'Adua refuses to follow the same foot steps. He is being very systematical fighting this war, because it is clearly obvious that OBJ represents the king of corruption. And how do you expect him to fight corruption effectively with out arresting OBJ and Ribadu?

It is impossible to get involved with the old mess by giving the EFCC the unrealistic illegal power these folks exercised during OBJ's regime. It is totally unnecessary. Atiku is gone, there is absolutely no more need for political tools or thugs.

I'm sure, Yar'Adua is still working very hard to discover a better strategy to tackle corruption in our society, but I can assure you that his strategy will be much different from the illegal and extremely selective one OBJ created during his time.

Instead of crying and barking, may be it will be much more effective to study and fully understand the situation. And also assist in presenting a better policy that will effectively drive our nation to the top.

Crying and barking to me seem to be old and absolutely ineffective in Nigeria.

Politics › Re: Who Is Chief Gani Fawehinmi (san)? by BigB11(op): 2:36am On Sep 19, 2007
All we are saying is for this man to may be change direction and find a better strategy to make his actions more fruitful. There is no one here saying Gani is nobody; let's stay focused before we start talking gibberish as usual.

It just makes no sense to me for him to come out every other month to make some noise for few days and then disappear for another month with absolutely nothing accomplished at the end of the day.
It is a mere waste of time and a waste of newspaper space. If you can not come correct, please stay home.
In my world, action is louder and stronger than just making noise.

No doubt about it, some of his ideas are bright and very much wanted, but he must definitely revise his strategy so that his views and actions could be respected and have a major positive impact in our society.
In my book, this man still remains a major icon of Nigeria and may God continue to bless him.

In regard to attorney general working in line with President Yar'Adua on the rule of law; this is an effective move and the way it should be.
After what we have witnessed during OBJ's regime, there is absolutely no way the decisions of Ribadu can overtake the constitution of Nigeria.

Moreover, if one can not see that the obstacles of effectively fighting corruption in Nigeria are created by OBJ, that individual must be blind and metally ill.
Politics › Re: Who Is Chief Gani Fawehinmi (san)? by BigB11(op): 8:29pm On Sep 18, 2007
Most of his ideas are sound and clever, but the man continues to use the same old same failed strategy to get his messages out.
As aresult of these blanks, I'm not sure where and how to categorize this incredible individual.

Apart from making noise just like you and I, I clearly do not see anything special about his actions.
Politics › Re: What Do U Think About Obj"s Regime by BigB11(m): 6:40pm On Sep 18, 2007
The only successful story one could associate with OBJ's regime is the incredible implementation of telecommunication; and it is clear that he wasn't responsible for the attainment.

We all know who was and still behind the successful development of telecommunication infrastructure in Nigeria.

Hence, OBJ's regime deserves absolutely no KUDOS.
Politics › Re: Who Is Chief Gani Fawehinmi (san)? by BigB11(op): 5:37pm On Sep 18, 2007
The big question is: what has he produced lately with all his incredible actions?
His noise did not stop OBJ, Bode George, Adebidu, Akala, EFCC, Ribadu and many more.

To me, action is louder and stronger than just a mere noise making and defective barking.

I personally think that now is the right time for him to change direction and discover a better way to accomplish his goals, because lately his actions are nothing but an abortive rebellion.

Please, keep in mind that I have absolutely nothing against the man; he represents a fine Icon of Nigeria.

But is this man simply seeking for attention or he's simply sincere with his actions? Because I'm getting tired of this fruitless noise making, that produces big ZERO at the end of the day. .
Politics › Re: Who Is Chief Gani Fawehinmi (san)? by BigB11(op): 2:37pm On Sep 18, 2007
I've watched and studied this incredible Nigerian for some time and I'm yet to conclude that any of his actions is effective; i.e I haven't seen the fruit of his actions.

Yes, he makes noise and he barks for many days or weeks or months, but nothing else happens after. I see his actions as being an abortive rebellion; lately, this has also been his MO (method of operation) and an indication of wasting time/ energy.

Is this man's actions effective?
Could someone identify a single positive outcome as a result of his actions?
Is he inconsistent with his views?
Is this man simply seeking for attention or he's simply sincere with his actions?
Is this the right time for Chief Fawehinmi to channel a different strategy, that will produce an effective result?

Gani Wants Attorney-General Sacked

Lagos-based lawyer, Chief Gani Fawehinmi (SAN), has called for the sack of the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Chief Michael Aond-oakaa, over the minister’s frosty relationship with the Economic and Financial Crimes Comm-ission (EFCC).
This came on a day Aondoakaa told THISDAY in New York, USA, that the chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practice and Other Related Offences Commission (IC-PC), Justice Olayinka Ayoola, was being “mischievous” when he said the disagreement between the Minister and the EFCC should have been resolved privately.
Fawehinmi, who said he was appalled and disturbed by the “negative and unconstitutional role” being played by the AG with regards to the anti-corruption war embarked upon by the EFCC, noted that since Aondoakaa’s assumption of office on July 26, 2007, he had been giving the “unmistakable impression” that the crusade against corruption in the country was not in his agenda and that the activities of the institutions engaged in the war against corruption do not have his support.”
Describing his actions and utterances as "not in consonance with the avowed pronouncements and promises of President Yar'Adua to combat corruption in all its ramifications", the senior advocate said the AG should be removed from office before he caused embarrassment to the country.
Fawehinmi said since Aondoakaa was not serving the interest of the public and the Constitution of Nigeria, it was imperative for the President to sack him as quickly as possible.
He said: "Aondoakaa had absolutely failed to appreciate the dual nature of his office as both the chief law officer of the federation and Minister of Justice in the government of President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua. Aondoakaa does not know what the public interest is with regards to the issue of corruption in Nigeria. He has chosen to ignore the fundamental problem of our country, which the Constitution has addressed.
“Aondoakaa is deliberately ignoring the constitutional command in Section 15(5) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 which provides that the 'State shall abolish all corrupt practices and abuse of power.'; Aondoakaa does not appreciate the rule of law against corruption handed down by the Supreme Court in the case of A.-G., Ondo State v. A.-G., Federation (2002) which enjoined all Nigerians to fight against corruption and to ensure that institutions set up under the Act of the National Assembly which gives effect to Section 15(5) of the Constitution should be allowed to function and not sabotaged".
He added that the AGF had predicated his “queer” position on his powers under Section 174 of the 1999 Constitution and his “distorted” understanding of the rule of law, thereby acting against the fundamentals of his powers of the same section of the constitution and in violation of the rule of law.
Fawehinmi, who described corruption as the bane of our development, said: "It is the fundamental cause of our poverty in the midst of plenty. It has prevented the country from making political, social and economic progress. It has brought about high level of unemployment in the country. It has denied millions of Nigerians access to education, housing, health, food and infrastructures, etc.
"Whilst the masses of our people wallow in poverty, their political leaders at all levels of governance are suffused in ill-gotten wealth by sheer stealing of the resources of the nation. Yet, we have an Attorney-General who has not shown the conscience, determination and commitment to deal with corrupt politicians. Mr. Aondoakaa, SAN has never condemned corruption. He has never initiated any criminal prosecution of any public officer. He has never caused to be investigated any corrupt politician past or present.
"Our Attorney-General pretends that he hears no corruption, sees no corruption in a country littered with corruption by public officers past and present. He must be living in a world of self-delusion and self-deception.”
"Further at Pages 404-405, paragraphs H-A, Uwaifo, JSC stated: ‘, in our own situation, taking the issue of corruption and abuse of power nationally will best serve the interests of all and the general welfare of Nigeria, both nationally and internationally. Corrupt practices have become an overwhelming malaise for Nigeria. It cannot be left totally to individual states’.”
In New York yesterday, Aodoakaa reacted to comments by the chairman of ICPC, Justice Ayoola, that the matter should have been internally resolved rather than be allowed to snowball into a courtroom quarrel between two government agencies, Aondoakaa maintained that the comments were borne out of mischief.
“Is he saying that as a judge sitting he would have ordered me to come and explain myself in court and I would disobey?” he queried angrily.
“People shouldn’t be so personal about doing things, that they’re the saints and others are the devil. I am unconcerned with his comments. I’m only concerned with the fact that I’m doing the right thing.”
Aondoakaa denied having an axe to grind with EFCC. He said his office had the right to intervene if the commission refused to obey an existing court order.
Asked whether it was not unbecoming for the office of the Attorney-General to be drawn into its widely reported altercation and muscle flexing with the EFCC at the Federal High Court, Abuja last week, the Justice Minister explained that the Supreme Court had in a decided case, laid down the law that State and Federal High Courts had concurrent jurisdiction to enforce fundamental human rights.
The Umuahia High Court judgment restraining the EFCC from prosecuting former Abia State Governor, Orji Uzor Kalu, according to the Attorney-General, was therefore valid. He vowed not to tolerate any disobedience to that order.
“Until it is discharged, the court order must be obeyed, it was very explicit,” he told THISDAY.
Explaining the events which led to the courtroom clash between the DPP from his ministry and counsel from EFCC Independent Prosecutor Rotimi Jacobs’ chambers, Aondoakaa insisted that the Federal High Court, Abuja, had summoned him to explain why the Umuahia High Court order was not obeyed and that the DPP’s appearance in court was in respect to that summons.
Denying that he had any special interest in Kalu’s case, he stated that contrary to media reports he had not taken over the case, he had merely directed the EFCC to accelerate its appeal to the Court of Appeal to vacate the High Court order.

Politics › Re: Obj Rushes 250-bedroom Hotel Instead Of Non-profit Library Project by BigB11(op): 4:34pm On Sep 17, 2007
Building a library Vs building a 250 bedroom hotel

Building a library: This is a comprehensive non profit organization put together or set apart to serve the citizens of a nation, by providing books, periodicals, and other material for reading, viewing, listening and borrowing.
In-short, the main purpose and advantage of building this library is to empower the educational standard or knowledge level of all students and other people from this area. And I'm sure this was also one of the reasons why many Nigerian icons have contributed vigorously toward implementing this project in Abeokuta.
Moreover, the benefit of building this library stays forever and multiplies by touching many future generation of our nation.

Building a 250 bedroom hotel: Yes, this is also another way to contributing toward the development of an area. Through this project, employment opportunity will definitely increase and it will also boost or stimulate tourism activities in this area; which in return will also be of an advantage to the locals.
But the big question is: who gets the income that will be generated from this establishment?
Answer: OBJ Inc.

We all have some kind of justification for this move, but to me this move absolutely indicates pure excessive insatiableness.
As a former president and at this very old age, most people will dedicate the rest of their lives to implementing different types of humanitarian projects, not building 250 bedroom hotel.

We should take some time out and study the involvement of the following individuals and discover what I'm trying to say:
1. Jimmy Carter
2. Nelson Mandela
3. Bill Clinton and many more.
Politics › Obj Rushes 250-bedroom Hotel Instead Of Non-profit Library Project by BigB11(op): 4:17am On Sep 16, 2007
OBJ rushes 250-bedroom Hotel

Two years after the much-celebrated Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) launch, the former president may have had a brainwave over the project, preferring now to rush the five-star hotel that would spin mega bucks. The library wing of the project has, therefore, dropped to the bottom of his priority list.

The hotel, said to be of five star standard, is on the site of the OOPL in Abeokuta, Ogun State. Workers on site say it is a 250-bedroom edifice that is nearing completion.
Leading business moguls like Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Dr. Mike Adenuga Jnr. and Mr. Femi Otedola had contributed generously to over N5 billion raised on a single day in 2005 for the N6 billion project.

Given the zeal with which the former president is pursuing the hotel wing of the project, it has become the subject of discussion and gossip in Abeokuta.
His kinsmen, in particular, feel scandalized that the former President now prefers to speed up work on the hotel – a commercial venture - not the non-profit library project that the public contributed money to help him build.

Said a resident of the area who craved anonymity: "Nigerians were deceived by the former President, that he was raising money for a library. But now, two years after, we have all seen the real reason Baba was raising money.

"In an ideal society, the former President would have been made to tell the whole world why he diverted money collected for a library project to something else. Only God will save Nigeria from greedy leaders like our Baba from Owu."
The OOPL was launched with fanfare May 14, 2005 while Obasanjo was still a sitting president, infuriating Lagos lawyer Chief Gani Fawehinmi to take him to court arguing that he (Obasanjo) abused his office and violated the constitution in initiating the project.

At the launch, movers and shakers of corporate Nigeria donated generously, hence insinuations in some quarters of "scratch my back, I scratch yours" deal.
Thus, Fawehinmi challenged the Federal High Court in Abuja to order the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate all the contracts awarded by the Federal Government from 1999 to date "in so far as the donors of the gifts of money received at the launch of the Presidential Library at Abeokuta, Ogun State on May 14, 2005 are involved in such contracts and for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent and Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) to take appropriate actions against the President and the donors."

He also urged the court to declare that the gift of money to the President at the launch by various contractors to government and other beneficiaries of government policies and programmes including oil firm majors, consortium of banks and others which were benefiting or had benefited from policies and programmes of President Obasanjo’s government contravenes Section 15 (5) of the Constitution.
Meanwhile, Obasanjo has, in another business-related matter, sent signals that he still wields influence despite being out of office.

This concerns the dealership of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation’s (NNPC) Mega Station in Abeokuta, which he lost in July to one Mr. Idowu Togun, until recently Special Assistant to Ogun State Governor, Gbenga Daniel, on Oil and Gas.
Obasanjo had lost the bid to reclaim the premium filling station after the incidence of financial mis-management was reported at the station under the supervision of the Obasanjo Holdings Limited (OHL).
The fraud led to staff shake-up in the station, following which several people, including an Alhaji, were quizzed by the EFCC.

The Alhaji, who then held a sensitive position in the OHL, was said to have been released following the intervention of some board members of the company who feared that he might "spill the bean."
At that time, even though Chevron, the managing partner of the station, was willing to do business with the OHL, Sunday Sun learnt that the large-scale fraud running into millions of Naira and allegedly masterminded by the OHL staff was the company’s albatross.

This led to the appointment of another Station Manager, Mr. Togun.
Togun was said to have been interviewed in June along with others, including the former Commissioner for Community Development and Co-operative, Pastor Abiodun Sanyaolu, at the McCarthy Street office of Chevron Oil Nigeria Plc, Onikan, Lagos.
The eventual appointment of Togun, a London-trained Oil and Gas expert, fuelled speculation that the state government might have acquired substantial shares in the oil business.

But Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to Governor Daniel, Mr. Wale Adedayo, denied the involvement of the state government in the petroleum transaction.
However, the resignation of Togun penultimate week was said to have been facilitated by the General Manager (Retail) of the NNPC, who was allegedly instructed by former Group Managing Director (GMD), Mr. Funsho Kupolokun (before the latter was booted out of office) to "do everything humanly possible to hand the Mega station back to the former President."
In compliance with the directive, Togun was said to have been advised by "the powers that be" in the state not only to resign his appointment in government, but also "to leave the petrol station business in his own interest".

"It was in his own interest and that of the state government that Togun had to leave the mega station for Baba. The thinking is that Governor Daniel, who knows nothing about the deal, is suspected to be the one that facilitated the appointment of Togun," a source told Sunday Sun.
"The way I see it, it appears as if Togun’s appointment constitutes an impediment to the cordial relationship that exists between Governor Daniel and Baba. When two elephants fight, who suffers?" an aide of the governor asked rhetorically.

With Togun’s resignation, the coast now appears clear for the OHL to take over the Mega Station. Already, a man simply identified as Pastor Olaniyan of the Obasanjo Farm Nigeria (OFN) has been penciled down for the lucrative job.
The fraud that rocked the petrol station before Obasanjo’s firms - IBAD and OHL - lost out was in form of diverted oil products worth about N95 million, part of which (about N75 million) was said to have been refunded to the station.

One of the subsidiaries of Obasanjo Holdings in Igboora (Oyo State) was said to have been a beneficiary of the deal which was not accounted for.
Details of how the Mega Station was run under the leadership of the former dealer, Alhaji Lateef Aremu, was given in Abeokuta last week.
The former dealer who operated under IBAD Limited, a subsidiary of the OHL and the former Accountant of the station, were alleged to have defrauded the company including the Chevron and Texaco by forging a bank rubber stamp.

With the rubber stamp, they allegedly authenticated tellers to deceive unsuspecting auditors (Chevron/Texaco). It was also intended to serve as make up for the accounts and monies not lodged.
Sunday Sun learnt that the affected Accountant confessed to auditors that the fraud had been on since April 2006.

The disclosure raised several questions, some of which were why did the Accounts department of the NNPC (Retail Headquarters), Abuja, failed to report the anomalies since April 2006, in their monthly reconciliation?

Afam:

You seem to be hanging out with MAMAJAMA to much lately and I advise you to please knock it off, there is absolutely no reason for you to debase yourself to that very low level.

Does one has to be IBB's child to defend what she or he thinks is right?
This is democracy, we have right to support what ever party or individual we desire. Moreover, this is part of life; fingers are not the same and many of us will never see things the same way.

I say, let us exhibit high level of maturity and respect one another regardless of one's belief.

For me, I see a better Nigeria with a man who has a lot to prove to the entire world, a man who can not afford to mess up for the second time, a man who has what it takes to elevate Nigeria from ground zero to the top, a man who naturally command respect from a good percentage of Nigerians, a man who has the natural charisma to unite the nation, a man who understands the roles of a leader, a man who has the intellectual ability to restore the crown of the Giant of Africa, E.T.C

I may be wrong, but this is how I feel.

And keep in mind that I haven't called this man an angel or a saint.
May God continue to bless Yar"Adua; I've done my assignment and obviously it's too late, but at this point in time, there isn't a better fit than IBB for this position (and many will not understand this statement, but it's fine, time will tell).

There is something called selecting the right man at the right time. And sometimes it takes the man that breaks down the puzzle to put it back together effectively and efficiently (again, many will not understand this point, but it's fine, time will tell).

Let's us hope for the best and continue to be our brother's keeper; May God bless Nigeria.

you need qualifications, integrity and a complete ingenuity to get a position with UN.

Absolutely a fake law degree is not permitted and incompetent IG experience is not applicable.

my friend, you better a get yourself a snicker bar and gudigudi, it will be a long wait.

Did the chief of defence come to your house to inform you?

It is nothing, but a baseless speculation.

By the way, what happened to Ehindero's UN job?

Lack of vision
Lack of indelible solutions
Lack of patience
Lack of perfection
Lack of real rules and regulations
Lack of  proactiveness
Lack of wholehearted leaders

We do not think profoundly enough before taking an action in Nigeria and this is one of the reasons why the life span of any implementations or attainments is very short.

We need to take our time, do our assignment accurately before executing a project.
We must clearly understand that every action has an opportunity cost and a responsible society or government will first precisely study the opportunity cost and establish a cogent solution before the implementation of the action.
It is very sad that our government doesn't see or do things this way; they execute first and then think about the execution few weeks later. What a bunch of crack heads!

If we want to clean up Abuja, let us get a place for them to do their business a small affordable market not all those stores that they can not even dream of owning.
Believe it or not, this same scenario took place in NY City (Harlem) few years ago. The only different between the 2 situation is the fact that Americans took time out to do their assignment before they finally implemented their plan.
Today, the road side vendors in Harlem have been relocated to an affordable and better location; Harlem is now cleaner and saver.

Nigeria as a country will remain retarded (just like MAMAJAMA) for many years to come if we do not start doing what is right instead of doing the right thing.

May God bless Nigeria.

It's a very sad story.

I hope things get better for this lady and her baby.
Life is a struggle, but we must always understand that God doesn't give more than you can handle. It is a matter of time, this lady will be fine.

No condition is permanent.

Definitely, we must discover a better strategy to send message out there; our standard of living in Nigeria must improve immediately.
Nigeria is a wealthy country; Nigerians deserve better.
