@CaptainAfrika @Barryworld @Seyewest please my good people, i need assistance here

Will be traveling with boss who already has an existing visa via droppbox
Am i to include his details here or what, thanks in anticipation as this is the only hindrane from securing a date for the interview
Sorry Kessel. I can't read the screenshot clearly, but it seems to speak of "applicant who needs to apply with you" not "travel with you". It seems this page is for scheduling family/group visa interviews. Since your boss is not travelling with you, the answer should be NO.
(If you answer yes, likely it will ask for his visa application reference.)

Hello house,

I had been refused Canada visa twice and now wish to put in for the U.S DS-160 visa for just a 10days vacation, but just got told in view of the Canada refusals, i stamd 80% chances of being refused the U.S visa as well. Pls "IS THIS TRUE?

Pls help me out as its a matter of great concern.
Sir, Yesterday, it was 7days family vacation, today it's 10days. Settle down, read through this thread, pick up the points that help you, weigh your circumstances and your ties, and those of each one of your family members that want to travel. Then decide whether it is the right time to apply or not. (What are ties? Read the thread and you will see many examples of ties as well as how to present/explain them in the visa interview.)

If your concern is that great, perhaps the time is not ripe to apply. But only you know your circumstances very well and the Ties, ties, ties and ties you have to Nigeria (or the country you are applying from).

Hello Gurus in the house,

Please i wish to embark on a 7days family vacation come mid December with wife and 3kids. Hence, what visa class do i go for? what are the suggestive documents in order to stand some chances of being granted the U.S visitors visa as i have no relatives over there? Possibly how long does it take to sit for the interview?

So sorry if my questions are enormous as i'm novice of the pre-requisites and protocols envolved.

Please help me out soonest.

God bless!
Start from page 1 of this thread, your answers are there. Interviews can be as short as 2 to 3 minutes.

Thank u very much.another thing when is the right time to make the payments for the appointment is it after filling d form or b4.
You should make the payment before booking an appointment. (The payment receipt is valid for one year, so you can choose to pay before you finish filling the form.) And you should complete filling the form before booking an appointment. Make sure you upload your passport photo while filling the form.

Hello Everyone!
Pls im attending a conference in Las Vegas next month, ive concluded to pay the conference fee at the venue with the organisers.
Ive also paid for just 2 nights for the hotel as i intend paying for 4 additional nights if i can cope with the distance of the hotel to and venue and also check if i can find cheaper hotels when im there.
Please i hope i wont be questioned why i have not paid for the conference and why i have paid for just two nights(hotel) at POE?
Can't say. The CBP are free to ask whatever questions they consider important. But to me: I don't see any problem paying at the venue, if the conference allows it (you much hold proof that you can pay, and if there is prior correspondence with the organizers, or registration, take that along). As for the two night, I don't see an issue there. I will explain same at POE, if asked. Sometimes same hotel can even give you better rates when you are there. (You may need to show that you can pay the hotel bills comfortably for the duration of your stay sha.)

Is this your first trip to the US? (If yes, you might want to search for other hotels online: at least to have more info. You use google maps to check for hotels around the conference venue.)

The question is whether she ever lost a passport abi?
Yes she did.
So that ought to be the answer.
I believe a space will be generated. She can then give details of how it was found. If she says no nko and peradventure a crime was committed with her passport then what will she then answer?
Especially if someone had tried to play a fast one on uncle Sam with her passport while it was lost. Better to state the truth. When going for next interview, take your old (lost and found) passport along: if you made a police report/court affidavit (for records, getting a new passport etc) when it was lost, take those documents along too (but don't shove them in the window, only hold them in case asked). Keep in mind that all present ties/circumstances are checked: not just your passport history.

Happy Birthday Lady G!

Thanks initially in August I booked hotel for the visa, but this Edinburgh thing they'll spend 5 weeks and on booking.com for instance no chance of booking exceeding 30days stay I would have booked one for purpose of passing the boarder.
Wait,... Did you fill for 5 weeks vacation in your visa application? If you filled less days, you can consider cutting the vacation short to match the visa application data. I don't know whether schools now get 5 weeks holidays during Christmas period (used to be 3 weeks). Winter is cold o; too long and they will be hankering for an earlier return to the tropics.

If you filled that your sister is sponsoring, and if your circumstances would normally permit you to be away from work/school for that long, there should be no problem. But, if I were in your shoes, I will like to stick with the two weeks I filled: (a future ECO checking a future visa application, can decide to make an issue out of it.)

Hi House, @Justwise et al I have a few questions; My wife and kids visa came late last month so they couldn't use it for its purpose of visiting London for vacation. Now we're planning for a month xmass vacation between december and January to Edinburgh instead of London as mentioned in the application; is it safe?. My wife and kids would be staying in her friend's place not mentioned in the application; please how safe is that?, I would not be travelling with them due to my work, I really need advice. thnx
To me, it sounds fine. Just explain same at the border. The visas came late. Summer in London would have been nice, Edinburgh may be blessed with snow when they visit- "I'm dreaming of a White Christmas".
For staying with the friend, make sure the friend will be reachable (by phone) when they arrive in UK, in case BP want to confirm whether the friend is expecting your wife and kids.

Do I write in the da160 that I used agent , then go to the interview to confess or should I still write what I wrote before... then go to the VO and confess? For the record coming out straight do I have to confess on the ds160 form? the uncle I stated in the form is not my uncle it was packaged to me by the agent .. when I googled the man I could not even find his address.. or any record of the address which the agent wrote in the da160.. therefore I feel the uncle info is lies... so in this case should I say that I don't know any body and go to confess or what? Nothing else has changed in my status since the last application..
Sir,
Take your time, read the thread: you will find many examples. See how other people came clean.
When you do fill your DS160, you need to fill the truth, the truth and nothing but the truth. Same thing with the interview. That's how to make amends with your perpetual records with the US. Once you can abide with the truth, the truth will set you free.
I dare say that visa or no visa, you will find more peace. Doing the right thing has it's own rewards.

Hello house, I must acknowledge the assistance being given in regards to questions, suggestions and advice. I read back to see if there is something I can relate with but it seems Every application is OYO although very informative. So I will drop my story hoping to get suggestions and advice.

My wife is applying for a visa (6 months), her cousin invited her for a visit which I agreed to because I want her to change weather small and it will give me time to balance well. The cousin will be paying for the trip and other expenses but the issues are as follows.
1.They don't have any evidence of relationship (picture or family name) only few phone calls and chats.
2. My wife is a student and had just recently graduated (last month). She currently doesn't ve any savings in her account. I do send monthly upkeep money for her and sometimes she gets little Cr alert from her family to use for school.
3. The cousin and her kids recently got their visa to join her husband who is working in the UK so I don't know what kinda Visa they ve. Will it be an issue?
4. As the husband will anything be required from me?
5. If there will be need to change sponsor, can I be her sponsor with a savings bank balance of 600k as of now? I'm just a business man. Thank you
1. If friends can invite, I guess cousins can invite. But the status of the "inviter" may count (a few pages back, someone related asking her MP to intervene).
2. Issue. Does she have travel history? Really, could have been a little better if she were a student or working.
3. Issue. Since they left no too long ago, why go visiting them so soon?
4. Depends on if you want to be the sponsor. Do you have children?
5. Issue. You can't spend a good amount of your savings on a courtesy visit or vacation.
My2cents: I suggest you wait and work on your circumstances. Give it at least six months; study this thread, read the refusal letters posted (to get an idea of the usual reasons the ECOs give and make sure those examples will not apply in her case), work on your savings, etc.

Pele, Ndo.
When you apply again, do it yourself, and fill the truth about your situation: you misrepresented in your first application. (Study this thread for more on that.) You need to come clean. Get interviewed, set your records straight. Then maybe next application or a future one , they might consider.
Meanwhile, you can have your vacation in Europe too.

l am actually going to California for a conference and the flight am going with will stop at Egypt and fly to New York the following day. So l intend to pass a night at a hotel in New York ( have booked for the hotel already) just to look round been my first travelling experience and fly to California on the second day ( have booked for hotel to stay in California also) . My question is this , must l buy the ticket to travel to California before living Nigeria or l can just buy it when am in New York ? l just want to play safe so as not to miss my flight from New York to California. Thanks a lot, waiting for your reply.
Was California the destination you stated at the visa interview?
It is a good plan to pass the night on arrival in New York and fly to California the next day. This is safe, as per not missing your NY to Ca flight.
And I agree with buying your ticket early, especially if California is your primary destination: it will be good to have it handy at NY POE.

Good morning everyone. I have a couple of questions: I recently got b1/b2 visa to vacay with hubby. On our ds160 we filled on october 24th as expected date of arrival but around august(after application has been submitted) we got invited to a family wedding for october 28 in lagos here that we cant miss. So we decided to go earlier so we can attend tge wedding. We intend to get to DC on the 3rd. Hope we wont have issues at d POE if we showed up earlier than we stated.

2. We filled on our ds160 that we are spending 10 days but now we have decided to spend 3weeks. Our return ticket shows this. We are both self employed so we have ppl taking care of biz while we will be away. Any implications at the POEhuh Pls reply. Thanks guys!!!
In addition to what Seyewest said, make sure your return ticket is at hand; and if you have the IV for the family wedding, you can carry it along.

Book your flight before you leave, its usually cheaper. But give like a 3 hour time difference, from the time you land to give enough time for CBP and picking up your luggage.E.g you land 1pm, book for a flight of 4pm and above. So you don't miss your flight.
@OP. @KaptainAfrika.
3 hours may be too short in case of flight delay and/or POE delay. Consider at least 5 hours interval between arrival time and next departure, if same airport terminal. And a few extra hours, if you need to change airport or terminal.
Also, in the case of connecting flight; make sure you don't miss your connection in Egypt.

Lie about what?
why should I lie when the truth is even more compelling?.
I'm just saying because some people do come here and be claiming saints.

If you didn't lie on your visa application but went and lie to your Boss that you were sick yesterday that's why you couldn't come to work or tell any other type of lie, no matter how small the lie is.... before God, You all are the same thing.

please this is not to attack any individual, but to everyone here.
Sir, That is the question.
Only you (and God) know the whole truth about you and your circumstances.
Here, everyone takes what is useful to them from the advice they receive. If they consider the advice not good for them, or their personal agenda, they are free to leave it.

I am not sure anyone is claiming saints here. Each one is contributing from his/her experiences. But people volunteering to give advice do not like it when the goal post or the story keeps changing. If you are helping other people, it is good to be upfront about it.
If you have stomach ache and tell the doctor you have headache, the panadol the doctor will give may not cure your stomach ache. At the end of the day, it is your stomach, you can self medicate, the consequences are on you.
But it is another story if you have headache and stomachache, etc o. Let's not make a super story here.

Should that be the case, due apologies.

In any case, the truth does not change. Once a story is not straight twice, it becomes difficult to establish credibility. To say "Sorry, I lied, it was a joke," etc , may help but it is not the same. Why? How am I am sure that your "sorry" is not another "lie"?

Best to always stick with the truth. (Notwithstanding the fact that you can present the truth in many different words.)

Reading this thread before posting prepares you for the kind of comments you may receive to your posts. Reading before applying, can prepare you/help you avoid some pitfalls.

I just have to comment. Did your wife give birth prematurely? You said she'll be 7months 3rd week in August and now you talk about your new born?

In all honesty, your story isn't straight despite this your epistle tongue

No advice for you. Sorry
Only the truth does not change.

VO asked us why we are going to the US, we told her we are going for vacation and Synod. She asked if we have kids, we said no. She asked if I have traveled before, I said yes. She asked if we traveled together that time, I said no.

We said the truth. I didn't know I should have told her that we are going for vacation and Synod, and that my wife is pregnant but we didn't intend to have our baby in the US. I didn't know we should have explained that. People told us that if you explain what you are not asked, they will see you as being too forward.

Now, a clergy, a member of our Diocese who has stayed in the US for 37 years is inviting me to a conference in his church. I will be speaking at the conference pro Bono.

My wife can't follow me because of the new born baby. The conference is only 7 days. I want to go for the Conference, but I can also decide not to go. It's not a do or die conference.

I have a life in Nigeria. I pastor a big congregation of an Anglican Church. I'm married with a kid. My wife is a student. And, you are telling me that I'm lying that I just want to relocate to the US. That's not true.

Read back. Every now and then, someone posts the link(s) for the website. As to your question, take your time to fill the form. When filling, save from time to time, so that you don't loose what you have typed if the page times out (or you loose your internet connectivity).

The only document I know you will need for a tourist visit visa is your passport photograph. It must be uploaded according to the guidance available on the website. Some suggest asking the photographer to send you the softcopy, so that you don't need to scan.

Only further comment is that it is more peaceful to follow the instructions online; e.g. Complete the form before scheduling an interview.

Sir, @Bolded.
When people post successful transcripts, it is for illustration, giving thanks, giving back, helping others.
When people post transcripts when denied, I want to believe one of the principal purposes is for others to critique the transcripts, to look for loopholes, and help with pointers as to what went wrong.

@Misrepresenters.
You should know that a lie is a lie, both little lie and big lie can earn you denial. When you tell a lie, it becomes more difficult to establish credibility. This applies to the US Consular, and also the general public who reads/hears from you.
When you come clean, though it may hurt, you should be able to take the "punishments" that come with misrepresenting in the first instance.

@Gurus.
Please, temper justice with mercy. We know you are all doing a good job, pro bono. And it is part of the good job to point out false information, ensuring that the innocent are not led astray. Sometimes when you have done your job, just let the rantings pass.

But, my naija people, it is tough when someone keeps changing stories, especially someone that you are trying to help.

Please take your time to read the thread, if possible before applying so that you can avoid pitfalls up front. If you have fallen, still read before posting your transcript (or while posting your transcript).

My Question : Being tensed n nervous represent part of section 214b?

Just a quick question. Does the journal require you to present your paper before they accept it for publishing?

I feel your pain for your mum, perhaps you should have rescheduled your interview.

3. The hotel I intend lodging in?
4. The various tourist centres I intend visiting?

On 1: put the truth.
On 2: It is your choice. You can read back to see what others have done. You don't have to stay with your contact.
On 3: The hotel can be your contact. (Read back: you will see how.)
On 4: Apparently no; e.g.1. You can't put "Times Square" as your contact; e.g.2. you shouldn't put a contact with which you have no contact.
On 5: Filling the form in a moment of urgency is neither recommendable or commendable. Take you time, do your research, so you don't end up with lots of back and forth, form swapping, needing to upload passport after interview date, etc.
