Deltapikin101: Hi Everyone, and thanks for this thread, it has helped a whole lot! Just to drop my application story in case it helps someone. I applied with my husband on the 30th of July 2022, and applied for my parents on the 11th of September, 2022. Nothing has changed about our application till date, but my parents got a PPR today 17th January 2023. There's obviously no method to the application process apart from just to apply and wait your turn, whenever that would be. Also a quick question, how long has it taken you guys to get your passports back after submitting, cuz they have a US trip scheduled soon, and we need to be sure they'll have their passports back before then. Fingers crossed, all the best to everyone! Not sure but mine took 19 working days, including the days I went to VFS to submit and to pick up. (I didn't count weekends and public holidays.) Read past two pages and you will see the Q & A about submitting in the USA. |

motunray: You can submit it by yourself go between 8am -10am on Monday to Friday You will also need to arrive there before 10am if you choose to collect your passport in person. |

One POE experience last year.
@Dulles (IAD). Usual question of what I was here for. Usual answer of visiting friends.
The POE officer did not stamp my passport, so I asked him about it and he said it's fine.
And that was that. (First and only time entry was not stamped for me.) |

olasubomy: Click on the link below and further click the section "webchat" then follow the instruction to chat with an Agent ( be mindful of time zones in New York and Los Angeles). The chat wont be live for interaction outside their working hours. The agent would be able to advise you which office would be better to send your passport. They will also be able to advise you on the requirement to submit your passport.
https://visa.vfsglobal.com/usa/en/can/book-an-appointment#
I was advised by the US VAC agent last year to send to Los Angeles because New York might take longer time but not sure of now.
It took my parents passport less than two weeks to return from Los Angeles so you can plan two weeks. You would just need to be proactive to start the process once you arrive USA. Thanks a lot. |

Good day everyone, For someone that just received the passport request, but has a trip starting in 10 days, and would not return to Nigeria until after the 30 days window, what happens if one can't make the passport submission within the 30 days?
Is there anyway to expedite submission and retrieval of passport say within a week, so as to have the passport back for this near trip?
Thank you. |

Africankel: You can submit your passport in the US. Hi, For someone in the same situation (i.e. needing to be in the US and already has the passport request), I would like to have an idea of how soon the passport can be returning submitted in the US. Thank you. |

Hi people, Please, in filling the visa application form, is the NIN acceptable as National Identity Document? (It does not have an issue date, and no expiry date either.) Is there any other document that can serve as National Identity Document for Nigerians? Thank you |

FYsol: You either renew your passport or get a Nigerian Visa Probably an "Emergency Travel Document" can also work. |

Thank you for contacting UK Visas and Immigration International Contact Centre.
With regards to your enquiry about the status of your application, I can confirm that we have made a decision on your application.
We cannot discuss the outcome of your application on-line or by telephone.
However the visa application centre will be in contact with you in regards to collection or delivery of your passport.
We strongly recommend that you do not buy a non-refundable, non-flexible ticket to the UK, until your visa application has been approved and you have received your documents. If you live in Lagos, I recommend you try to visit the VAC today (before 4pm) to see if your passport is back, or if not, they should know where your passport is. If you are outside Lagos, you can try find other ways of contacting TLS. |

graceodini: Please what can you advise most of us that already booked appointment for March ending? Option 1: Perhaps contact TLS for advice. Option 2: If short term tourist visa, perhaps cancel the application and request refund. (Then apply again later). Option 3: If long term (2 years+) visa, if your reasons are strong enough, you can still apply including in a new cover letter reasons for applying now and an idea of when you will want to travel eventually. Don't know if the ECO will be convinced sha, but if you are applying for two years visa, you must know why you need it. |

AjalaDtraveller: Hello All I currently hold a visitor visa which would expire in less than a month. I have been so tied up with work that I can't find the time to travel for holidays. My question is this: What happens if a visa expires and becomes unused? What would one expect when reapplying?
Incase I can squeeze in like 3 days to travel and return how much time left on the visa is allowed for one to travel at immigration ? I mean if it remains like 2 weeks is it allowed? I would really appreciate any personal experience with this. Since you ask for the implication of the visa becoming unused, I am assuming you have not used the visa in question at all. If you have had a prior visa that you used, then whether you are reapplying or want to squeeze in the 3 days travel, there should be no problem. If you do not have used past visas, in principle there is no problem also. UK says they treat each visa application on it's own merit. I find that having made a visit and returned on time is an advantage though, (with UK and many other western countries,) as it demonstrates that you can be trusted to follow the terms of your visa. Personal experience with arriving with your visa about to expire is that: the Border officer asked about my return ticket to make sure I have a ticket to leave the country before the expiration of the visa. That's all. It was not an used visa though. I expect you should be able to explain why you did not use it earlier and why you are using it now to the border police and your explanation should fly. |

Bkoks: I honestly have no idea, she applied with my dad to go for my sister’s grad both denied. But now she’s going for omugwo Going alone is one change. She should think of other changes and how to answer questions in her interview. You would need to carry her along as you fill the form. I think it is worth mentioning the business, it is another tie. Does she have other children in Nigeria? |

babs4all: My friend that applied on the 5th of February got a letter today from Canadian Embassy in Nairobi that his application is refused based on his ties to Canada and Nigeria. He did paper application in Naija. That's super fast if you ask me. He has no travel history but works with a reputable company with good pay. Did he apply for a UK visa? Just wondering how come he is getting a reply from the Canadian Embassy in Nairobi? Plus he applied in Naija? Ties to Canada, reply from Nairobi, when he has no travel history. Seems to be a mix-up or SPAM mail. |

Pieaa: Please house, is there anyone here who has applied for 2 years visa for tourism and was granted.. My six month visa just expired, travelled twice and am looking to renew for 2 years.. I have no relative or family in UK. Will want to the probability of being granted. It is normal to be granted, especially if you have demonstrated that you are a good tourist/visitor. (Hope none of the "travelled twice" was for months?). However, I suggest you put at least four months between your last visit and your next one. (To be on vacation every three months is exceptional.) Lastly, do not take anything for granted. Prepare and apply well, as you must have done for the 6-months visa. (Don't omit any document thinking they should have it on record.) |

stefanimay: Hello gurus. Pls I'd like to ask if this is true:
So I got a 2yrs uk visit visa.I plan staying fr 5months in the UK ,travel to dubai for 2weeks and go back to the UK buh I was told by a friend that I'll have to stay in Nigeria for 5months before travelling to the UK again. She says the immigration rule states: I'll have to be in my home country fr 5months bfre going back. Pls how true is this??
Justwise or anyone with idea, pls I need yur response. The rule your friend is probably referring to says you cannot be in the UK for more than 180 days out of one year. It is not 180 days max per visit. And one year is 365 consecutive days, not a calendar year. Any length of visit that demonstrates that you are not busy/needed in your home country is frowned at. Best to visit according to the plan you indicated in your visa application form. |

kaybababa: Learned guru in the house, thanks for your wonderful job and contributions. My question I am about to upload my document on tls page, I have my father's house document with me, the question is can I add it has evidence of my property handed over to me by my parent? Or I should ignore it. Awaiting your response. If you have evidence that your dad bequeathed the property to you, add the evidence, plus evidence that your dad is your dad (e.g. your birth certificate) and upload it all. |

Bros, make I no lie you. Forget the US. Dat your transcript talk am finish. If you wan go holiday, find another country. If you wan dash dem money, apply again. Before u apply go US again, try small, marry, get pikin, travel go other countries, and think well how u go explain dem dem changes in dat last visit. When you reached the US Border, can you remember them asking you how long you were going to stay? Did you tell them 3 months? |

OmoBendel24: It may not necessarily be a B1/B2 visa that they are on, else, that would be a very dumb move made. I believe strongly the situation isn't really as illustrated nor as understood here. There are several other visa category that could allow such move. I bet if it were a B1/B2 visa the other family members were holding, the woman barely would have left that building without her own visa being cancelled, barely! This is my personal take however.... My first thought too. Likely not B1/B2. But when I applied in Lagos, migrant visas applicants were interviewed on the other side of the hall. (I don't know their day to day arrangements though). On the other hand, if she had used her B1/B2 visa strictly in accordance to the purpose and duration she applied for, then it is possible the VO wouldn't cancel it. All these are conjectures: there are missing dots in the lines that only the protagonist knows. |

Am planning to relocate and work legally in UK in the next few months. Please what advice can you give?.
Any useful information on how to go about it. How difficult is it to get job? Life style and the settlement Pattern. How much should I budget for my basic traveling allowances (BTA).Any agency or UK recruiter

But if you are going for vacation, it is highly recommended, going by people's experiences and the text of several refusal letters. |

Please how can he make changes to this before going for Biometrics One option is for him to cancel, and start a new application all over again. The refund for the first application will take some time to come though. |
