Good evng to you all.
While applying, I told the consular that I wud be heading to maryland (visa granted) but now I have a change of plans....i would be heading to staten island....hope I won't be questioned with the change?
Should it be the case that you are questioned, there may not be any issues so long the change is truthful, reasonable and explainable. And also, if the purpose for which the visa was issued is the same. e.g. vacation is vacation; family visit is family visit.
(If you don't want stories that touch, don't come and be going to visit your dearest uncle in Staten Island, when you declared that you do not know anyone in the US.)

Regarding Champora's post (which left her personal details online,) is it a viable option to assist her to remove it? It appears not to break any NL posting rules, but at the same time her attempt to mask those details manifests her intention of not publishing them.

Dear Naira landers good evening and I hope you're well. Thanks so much for your information. I read through and I tried to follow the tips I got while filling my ds-160 form and scheduling an appointment. The closest date I saw as of this evening was Feb 5.

I tried not to make any errors but please I'd like to ask this (I'd asked in a group before but I'd like to confirm here.)

For those who just recently scheduled an appointment for B1/B2, does your visa category say: "All Others" just like mine says?

I was scared when I saw it wondering if I'd made a mistake. I've checked my ds-160 form and I can't find an error concerning the visa type as I'd specified "B1" and "temporary business visitor."

So please is the "all others" normal? Or I need to fix it if it's an error. Thanks a lot.
Dear MM. Your personal details are still legible. Try to remove/cover/blot them. Cheers.

Hi ladies and gentlemen! You guys are doing a great job here.... Kudos! Please I would need your advice on this. Thanks

I was supposed to travel to Boston for my nephews wedding September 2016 but I missed it because my leave was not approved due to work load.
Now I want to travel to Boston for vacation and i will be staying with family for 8weeks,(It is indicated on my flight ticket that I'm staying for two months )
My concern is , Firstly, Will I be asked for a leave letter, as I don't have one, because we are currently on Strike ,I'm a civil servant.
Secondly, I'm traveling with $500, will that amount be OK for the point of entry?
My mom will be staying with my kids while I'm away.
This is my first trip outside Nigeria.
Please your contributions are highly appreciated as I will be leaving in few days time.
Thanks
You should be fine, provided you've been truthful throughout the entire process. 8 weeks is long sha, especially if initial leave was not approved due to workload. You may need to explain how come you will be away from work for up to 8 weeks.

I have always wanted to ask this question..may sound funny though. but swift and innocent response would be appreciated.

Please, is it possible for one to travel abroad from naija to any part of the world/country without having or knowing anyone in which ever country he/she chooses to travel to? all in search of a greener pasture? or are there countries of such that allows anyone to freely travel to and settle in, even if you have none therehuh?

Kindly advice sir.

Best Regards,
Sir Donald, This thread is for UK Visa inquiries. Let's keep it that way.
The simple answer to your question is "no". If you cannot cultivate greener pastures here, it will be nigh impossible to cultivate it where you know nobody. Consider how there are many foreigners that are making it in Nigeria; from artisans to company executives. For countries that allow free travel, you can actually walk across the border to Benin Republic.

Hello LADYGUINIVERE, JUSTWISE & TWOODS, I want to specially thank you for the insightful comments you are giving here. I have really followed this thread and I have seen several case studies and scenarios.

I had to register to ask a question because I want to fill DS160 and book appointment.

I have a conference I want to attend in the US. My company is sending me and sponsoring the trip. The flight tickets and hotel accomodation will all be booked by my company. I will be given a cash at hand of about $1000 to $2000 for feeding and other logistics. I will be staying for only 2 weeks.

I have worked in the company for more than 10 years.

I am married with a child. My wife is a student in 300 Level.

I have a letter from my employer that he's sending me for the conference. I have the company's bank account statement.

Please, I don't want to ask about my chances?

I want to ask if these ties are strong enough. Job. Wife. Child.

Thank you.

NB - I have never traveled out of Nigeria before. I have never been denied visa of any country before.
Storystorystory, travel history could be your strongest tie. Consider visiting another visa-scrutinizing country before visiting the US.

How will you take care of your son while attending the conference? That's a question, the answer to which you need to keep in mind for your interview and your trip.

Morning House!

Please, do any one have idea of how much in $ will a cab cost from IAH Airport, Houston TX to Greyhound Bus terminal in Houston Texas?

My friend plan flying to IAH, Houston, then use greyhound bus to Corpus Christi his final destination

Please what do you advice?
There are several Greyhound terminals in Houston. taxifarefinder (dot com) puts one cab estimate at $63. You better off checking by yourself. IAH also has more than one terminal. All the best.

Those that mean I will fill the NY Hotel address instead of the Florida Hotel address on our i94 form since we are going to NY first?
This is what I would do. But you can research more. Equally important is ensuring that the NY Hotel booking remains valid by the time you are at the POE, in case the CBP wants to call the hotel to crosscheck, and also so that you don't arrive to the hotel with no room for your family.

There shouldn't be. Just make sure that your friend is reachable/available at the time of your arrival, in case the CBP wants to crosscheck. Have the phone number and address handy. Make sure your friend is good about the above.

(To be extra prepared, I will add knowing how to get to West Virginia by train.)

Hello house,Plz will like to ask if your destination is New York for a conference ,and decide to visit another state after the conference since you still have more time basically just to know places. can one reroute once flight , instead of coming back to New York to connect your flight back to lagos, one can simply connect his/her flight from any state, provided the ticketing company can do a rerouting for such flight. Is it allowed and not an offence
No wahala. Provided you are stamped in for a longer period than the dates of your conference. Don't stay too many extra days though, as that my affect renewal of your visa.
About the switching connections, be wary of: Change fee, re-issue fee, route change new fares. It can be more expensive than just returning to New York to connect back to Lagos. Some times, NY has the cheapest fares for flying to the US.

unfortunately for you taking a bus trip is more expensive than flying.... Please do your homework..
go to Bus site and airline website to compare prices.
Exactly!

Even Emirates to Orlando at 645k (or thereabouts) may end up more suitable than when they fly to NY (Ethiopian/Air Maroc at about 450k) and start adding local flights, plus taxis for transfers, plus checked in baggage. He can check Washington and other airports. Maybe can still find cheap tickets via other routes.

~If Lagos- anywhere is delayed and connection missed, the pax may need to buy a new local ticket in US sha. It's a personal opinion/strategy, based on past experience.

It's okay. They are grouped the same by the consulate. And more often and not, they issue B1/B2 combined visas. So, no wahala.

Hello house,

This tread is very helpful.

Pls, I would like to ask if it's advisable to fly in through JFK while final destination is Disney world Florida (it's a family trip) due to high cost of return ticket from Lagos to Florida (during interview a year ago we stated Disney World)

Hope thats not a problem with PoE
Shouldn't be an issue. You should hold the NY-Florida-NY return ticket.

If I were in your shoes, I will book hotel for the night of arrival in NY (in case the flight is delayed), and book an onward return ticket (NY-Florida-NY), and another night in NY before the return flight from NY to Lagos.
Check these costs against Lagos to Orlando or other US destinations: on Turkish, Emirates, Qatar, Ethiopian or Etihad, or other airlines, and you will have a good formula for your decisionl

This will be my first time of posting on this forum. .

Please, what are the implications when your date of departure is same day for your interview? (visiting visa).
Anything can happen. Depends on your circumstances and intentions. Like if you work for the UN, it may pass. If you are going for a two day conference (where the conference will end within 3 working days of your interview), you give the VO no reason to grant you a visa.
If it's for vacation, your ability to plan realistically demonstrates your acumen; then it will probably be better that you update your travel plans to what is more feasible, or be ready to explain how you intend to make it work.

There is probably a thread for relocating to the UK. Check for it. But the ways could be: getting a job from here, then your employ will sponsor your going to the UK; going to study with the hope of getting a job after your studies; or investing so much money in the UK that they will be begging you to come and stay there.
Read back on this thread, you will see examples of people's stories.

Thanks sir for your information. Full requirement like visiting which country. Visiting U.K or st. Katt cause I have all the require document to visit st Katt so please I need your advice. Also is there any body on this trend that have experience on this?
You might need to meet UK requirements for getting a visitor visa, or USA requirements for getting a visitor visa. Perhaps I am mixing St Kitts for St Katt. For St Kitts, there are literally no requirements beyond having accommodation sorted out and being able to demonstrate that you can afford your visit there.
As for more experience, try searching for other Nairaland threads, especially those for visiting other Caribbean countries.

Question:
If I land in JFK hope there wont be problem. I will purchase a local flight ticket going to Atlanta from new York.

No problem. But it is good that you have your New York-Atlanta ticket before you meet the CBP in New York. Alternatively, have it very clear how your intend to get to Atlanta.

No, I would be visiting Statue of Liberty, at Liberty Island, then Times Square, central park, and the Niagara Falls.
before moving to Utah as a would be going to the National Park and some beautiful places.
I would love to see the Falls, but they are a bit far from NY. Statue of Liberty, are you visiting or just viewing from the free Staten Island Ferry? If you plan this super-tourist itinerary, be sure to do your research very well about the destinations o. Not only for the visa, but also for making the trip a reality. Also, transport is not cheap when you want to move with a fast-paced plan.

Watch-out for the auto-correct when filling the form. It is easier to be extra careful, than to be trying to update/change the forms later. I spent a few days filling my form and then re-reading, re-checking etc, before finally submitting. I even counted the characters of my name, to make sure i didn't miss any letter. (When you type fast and read fast, it is easy for the eyes to skip something small.)
All the best.

quote author=Adeneyagrofeeds post=62507741]Hello house, I really need your help. I have already booked my appointment for January with my old passport which has 5months to expire which I know there's no issue with the US embassy, so right now I wanna apply for UK visa, which I most travel there for Xmas and UK won't issue visa on 5months to expire passport unlike USA. So my concern is can I go to the interview with my new passport which I know the passport number will be different from the old one, I hope it won't be a red card for me? And can US issue visa on the new passport cuz d old one would be cancelled without prejudice
I suggest you check the UK thread. Just today/yesterday, someone related getting a visa on a passport expiring in Feb '18. Not worth the risk though. The rule says 6 months, as you know already. But, you will also see people relating more than 60 working days to get their passport back (with/out UK visa granted). It is true that the peak period is over, but you never know for sure how long they will keep your passport. You won't want that anxiety over whether UK will return your passport on time when you US interview is close, unless US visit is not time-bound.
To your question, I don't think US will issue a visa in a cancelled passport. I suggest you read back on the VO's thread: there have been two questions similar to yours, but I can't remember the precise answers.

Hello everyone hope you guys are having a wonderful time. Please I really need your help on this a friend of mine is sending me an invitation letter to St. Katt and Naves the problem is that there is no direct flight I have to have a U.K. Transit visa in other for my flight to be cheap. Please is there any person here in the forum with same experience or can someone please advice me on document require for a U.K. Transit visa. Is urgent and I need your help.
Sir/Madam,
As St Kitts and Nives is Visa free for Nigerians and there are no direct flights, you will need either US or UK transit visas. With this transit visa hurdle, your visit cannot be urgent o.
Unless you have previous travel history to UK, US, Canada or Europe, please take time, read the thread; for UK and US, you will need full requirements as if you were visiting those countries (as you don't a visa for your destination).

*There could also be a long roundabout route, SA, Brazil, Caribbeans, St Kitts and Nives: but both SA and Brazil are known to deport Nigerians in transit (a risk you can reduce by getting a tourist visa to Brazil: they used to give 3 months multiple entry, you can visit Brazil first and from there find flights to St Kitts and Nives).

Congratulations!! The 6 months passport rule is TRUE. Yours is an exception maybe because you applied for 2 years visit visa. If it was a 6 months visa application maybe the outcome would have been different.
I second that Congratulations; and add that you better renew that passport before travelling.
Don't leave room for anyone to corner you when travelling o. You may be amazed to learn that the NIS law empowers Nigerian immigration officers to refuse anyone entry/exit at will.

What is the cost to you personally of your trip in GBP?

The total amount you have for this trip.

Please advise on these 2 questions. They look similar and confusing. Must it be thesame amount awarded to them?

Cc justwise
I think I have read here that it is better that the amount available be a little more than the cost. (Showing you have extra for contingencies, and also that you have change to come back to/with).

One thing that strikes me is the need to state the currency. A few pages back, one ECO commented that the currency was not clear. In my own application years back, wherever the currency was not stated in the question, I put it in the answer where possible. Simply for clarity.

All the best.
