Music/Radio / Re: Davido Praying To Win Grammy Award After Downplaying Burna Boy's Grammy Effort by Bigchristo: 10:30am On Jan 05
Offpoint1:
In all honesty, this current generation lack taste for music.

Seems music left Nigeria from 2008-2010.

I'm stuck with 90s music, Gen-Z music na crap.

The worse I'm seeing lately is shalipopo and odumudu black... Nigeria music has gone this bad with wack lyrics.

If Grammy was truly by merit, no Nigeria musician currently deserves shxt, in fact for the past 10 years, none deserve shxt.

Wizkid, Davido, Burna boy are all media hype and heck mentality. These guys are craps musically without media hypes. They wouldn't survive 90s and early 2000
Stop writing nonsense criticizing peoples hard work, if you like Old school music đŸŽ¶ then stick to it, there’s new level of music since 15yrs not only in Nigeria music industry but those we copy from in the US, you should be happy that Nigeria successfully achieved Afrobeat our own music genre we have bulks of superstars and artists who are putting Nigeria and Africa on global map appreciate their craft if you don’t like it then keep quiet

Crime / Re: Man Records A Suspected Kidnapping Of A Lady In Broad Daylight (video) by Bigchristo: 1:31am On Jan 03
Glimpsetv:
Man Records a Suspected Kidnapping of a Lady in Broad Daylight

A man recorded a suspected kidnapping of a lady in broad daylight on New Year's Day in Lagos and posted it on X, formerly known as Twitter, tagging the police for possible action. The video shows a lady attempting to open the car door from the back seat, but it appears that another person sitting with her at the back is pulling her away from exiting the vehicle.

After a while, the driver exited and moved to the back seat door, activating the child lock to prevent the car from being opened from the inside, then returned to the car and quickly drove off.

However, a police handle on X named DSP Bright Edafe PPRO DE responded, "I sincerely hope you had the emergency numbers for Lagos Command and called them before recording and posting. That would have worked faster. Plus, you should have tried raising an alarm and confronting them."

In response, the man who posted the video commented, "For the record: I raised an alarm, called on area boys, but most hesitated. The driver got back in the car and drove off. I followed the car around V.I, hoping to see a policeman to report to, but none was on the route they followed. They later started driving back."

What are your thoughts on this? Do you think the man should have exited his car instead of just recording and confronting the suspects? But what if they had a gun?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MgpAQTccORE

with all the effort this person put to make sure the lady get help from the police department it all went in vain because first Nigeria polic force don’t respond to emergency calls or swing into action except they are mobilized with fuel money and some little Eguje they don’t even want to work for the safety of Nigerians their daily target is to prey on innocent road users to extort them but when it comes to protecting lives and properties they have zero control

Naira has been rated among the world’s worst performing currencies in 2023.

This is coming on the heels of Bloomberg’s latest report that naira is poised for its worst year since the return to democracy in 1999, with analysts predicting further depreciation in 2024.

there’s no amount of motivation that can make a sheep turn lion, the US just want to destroy Ukraine to the ground by sponsoring them to fight Russia, the US themselves can’t accept the civilian casualties that Ukraine already suffered, only one US citizen was arrested in Russia they traded her by releasing a hardcore Russia spy in exchange for their citizens freedom, Ukraine government lack understanding they think US is helping them fight Russia

In the video shown above, a young man, Chisom Okechukwu, resident in Anambra State, had his latest invention shared on video. This time, it was an electric wheel chair, which was made from locally-sourced parts/parts from scrap vehicles. The electric chair comes with a portable power source and is able to move in all directions.

Using his local language, Chisom answered questions bordering on its manufacture and operation. After that, the interviewer supported his efforts with thirty thousand naira, encouraged his father, who was present there, to consistently show him support and have faith in him. He also called on the society at large, to support his endeavour.

This is really commendable, government should empower him to do more

Business / Re: Nigeria To Begin To Supply Gas To South Africa From 2024 by Bigchristo: 2:34pm On Dec 28, 2023
thisweekng:
In a groundbreaking move, Riverside LNG, a prominent Nigerian energy company, has disclosed ongoing discussions regarding a potential agreement to supply gas to South Africa starting from the first quarter of 2024. This development marks the initiation of what could be the first-ever gas deal between Nigeria and South Africa, signaling a potential collaboration in the energy sector.

CEO David Ige, in an exclusive interview in Abuja, revealed the company’s strategic focus on expanding its reach across the continent. Earlier this year, Riverside LNG formalized a gas-export partnership with Johannes Schuetze Energy Import AG of Germany, demonstrating its commitment to international collaborations.

“We’d probably very early in the year close out another segment of the market, an off-take for South Africa,” Ige stated.

“There’s a massively evolving gas market in the region, covering southern Africa, western Africa, all to northwest Europe and to the Caribbean and South America broadly.”

While emphasizing the confidentiality of ongoing discussions, Ige refrained from providing specific details about the negotiations with South African counterparts. The company is simultaneously exploring potential opportunities in Liberia and Cameroon, further solidifying its position as a key player in the African energy landscape.

Strategic Implications for South Africa: Addressing Power Shortages and Embracing Renewables

Key Considerations:

South Africa’s persistent power shortages due to ageing and inadequately maintained power stations managed by Eskom Holdings SOC Ltd.
Delays in procuring extra electricity from private providers due to grid constraints and legal disputes.
Lack of an LNG facility in South Africa; deliveries from the Riverside LNG project expected to start in 2027.
Shifting towards renewable energy sources with a goal to achieve 60 gigawatts of power from renewables by 2030.
Regional Dynamics:

Southern African Development Community endorses a $17 billion plan for natural gas infrastructure to enhance energy provisions in the region.
Investments in pipelines and terminals for both local and imported supplies.
Riverside LNG’s potential gas supply deal with South Africa aligns with the nation’s efforts to diversify its energy sources, moving away from coal dependence. With 80% of electricity production currently reliant on coal, South Africa aims to achieve a significant portion of its power from renewables by 2030.

CEO David Ige emphasized the broader opportunities for Nigeria, stating, “We see a huge opportunity for Nigeria in being a trading hub.” The evolving gas market in the region presents a strategic advantage for Nigeria to position itself as a pivotal player in the global energy trade.

Woman Rejects Christmas Car Gift From Her 200 Level Undergraduate Son, Says Source of Income Questionable

A certain woman identified as 'Mama Chukwudi' has rejected a car gift offered her by her two hundred level undergraduate son.

In a video seen by 9NEWS NIGERIA, the woman maintained that she sent her son to study and not him to return home barely two years with a car. She maintained that she wasn't convinced that his son hadn't soiled his hands in a bid to make money, and even went ahead to say that she wasn't ready for any explanation from him.

In the long run, she made sure that both her son and the so called Christmas car gift left her.compound to avoid creating funny scenes.

I understand she is trying to be disciplined because she fully knows that her son isn’t having a good job or business to make such money to buy car, but my question is this: those who invaded our forefathers and loot their treasury then take it home did anybody question them? I don’t support fraud but the origin of this our civilization has fraudulent path and I can’t blame the young people engaging in illicit activities on the internet it was somebody that thought them, however anybody that’s caught should face the consequences
