You're very correct! Whoever signed that contract must be held for corrupt act! Badgers14: I understand your frustration about this development but let me clear things up for you a little bit....
Mr.Nnaka fighting for a $220m paycheck is no where a selfish act, if he has a contract with the government for 40% ...oh well as bad as it might sound the contract is binding.. But mind you, he didn't just walk into the ministry and get that job whomever signed that contract on behalf of the government is also expecting some kick backs.... This is just like typical Nigerian contract, folks hear on the radio the governor signed N2.4bn road project... The contractor most times don't get all the money.. They might even pocket N1bn and give the contractor N1.4bn.
This scenario is like either Malami or Mr. Nnaka is back tracking on the quota they previously agreed to ..."aye' someone is getting greedy.. Mind you though that Mr.Nnaka is not a big shot lawyer in Maryland ( confirm this from anyone that lives there). He is just an attorney willing to play there a game... Moreover the case is an easy win because no one is dragging the money with Nigerian government..
Also, I don't know where you reside, U.S, Nigeria, UK...e.t.c
But in U.S personal injury lawyers are not charge and bail lawyers.. Actually almost every big law firms have that department because there is money to be made there..(they don't accept every case though and they are very selective). Also there are a whole lots of big shot law firms in the personal injury arena that handles only thoses cases.
Also in the U.S, a lawyer could charge 40% ( usually standard) or 35% whatever both parties agree on or they could charge you a flat fee say $5k or $10k for case... They could also charge you per hour. Some big law firms could charge you between $1,500 - $2,000 per hour.
I might have to send you an invoice for this long lecture |

Candidate's bid knows no borders
City lawyer faces hurdles in Nigeria presidential run
August 21, 2006|By JULIE BYKOWICZ | JULIE BYKOWICZ,SUN REPORTER
With one exception, Nnaka's cases over the years have not attracted general public attention. He made a brief cameo in the public eye in 1999, when he represented G. Samson Ugorji, the first appraiser charged in the city's property flipping scandal.
Ugorji was convicted of fraudulently inflating appraisals for properties that were bought cheaply, renovated lightly and resold quickly for huge profits.
Over the years, Nnaka's legal skills have been questioned by some judges and attorneys. The Maryland Attorney Grievance Commission has no record of sanctions against Nnaka.
A federal district judge warned Nnaka of the "necessity of advanced and thorough case preparation" in a January 1999 written opinion in one of his cases.
In March 2005, a panel of Maryland appeals judges called Nnaka's legal arguments in one case "hopelessly intertwined and lacking in clarity."
Nnaka's legal experience extends beyond his role as a lawyer. He has been a defendant a dozen times and a plaintiff a dozen more in contract disputes and other civil cases - including three with his own employees.
In 2000, Clothilda Harvey alleged that she'd quit because Nnaka had asked her to falsify billable hours. Nnaka shot back in a counterclaim that Harvey was the one swindling clients.
When confronted with the dueling lawsuits, Baltimore Circuit Judge Clifton J. Gordy scribbled in his notes: "The whole mess should be dismissed."
The judge ruled in Harvey's favor, awarding her court costs.
Now Nnaka is accused of a far more serious matter. Court documents state that he propositioned a 16-year-old girl for sex inside his downtown law firm.
According to Baltimore police charging documents, Nnaka met the teenager on a Friday while dining at Uncle Lee's Szechuan Restaurant, near the law office. He gave her his business card.
The next evening, July 15, the documents state, the woman and two friends, also teenage girls, went to Nnaka's Redwood Street office to discuss hiring him.
Nnaka told the alleged victim he would discount his fee if she allowed him to touch her, the documents state. She consulted with her friends and agreed.
Then he took off his pants and offered her $50 for sex. She "began to freak out" and refused, but he kept pursuing her, the documents state.
Police said one of the friends managed to snap a few photos with a disposable camera before using a pair of scissors to fend off Nnaka. The girls left the office and flagged down a police officer.
They gave the camera to the police, said Officer Troy Harris, a spokesman for the Baltimore Police Department.
Nnaka's attorney, Timothy M. Dixon, says his client was the victim.
Dixon says the teens tried to charge Nnaka for sex. When he refused, Dixon says, they snapped photos to extort money from him and then became violent - chasing him with a pair of scissors.
If Aluko of Nigerian Democratic Movement is any gauge, the charges won't help Nnaka's political career. "If you have judgments against you," he says, "that creates a moral burden."

Was PDP faring any better?. We should stop all these things dear. We all know the truth. We all saw it when PDP was spraying dollars about is desperate moves to remain in power. We all saw the gimmicks that went with it. We all saw members of the administration returning monies illegally gotten. We all saw how monies were being paid as subsidies to people who never imported anything. We all saw those caught back then walk scot-free without any refunds ....Are we all blind to see that ll those monies were from the nation's reserve? Did we ever thought the oil price would remain at $140 per barrel and refused to save? Did we not hear Ngozi Okonjo mention Austerity Measures before the elections? Did we think by not saving we would remain buoyant forever? Common ....stop being short-sighted. Omeokachie: No ma'am, I dont know it. Make me!
Petrol could NEVER have sold for N40 in Nigeria. Blaming failure on the activities of militants is a lame attempt by this administration to paper over the cracks of their abysmal failure.
With a mono product economy like we have, all the government can do is milk the situation to keep the country going, but then APC decided to use it as a campaign stunt which has turned around to bite them in a brutal
APC desperation for power is to blame and nothing more. |

I get your gist buh I didn't refer to any denomination but in anycase, you've spoken the truth. We tend to spend much time in the church than trying to get a business started. In any case, its between you and your God not you and your pastor! Zoharariel: If your Jesus's name works, with the amount of energy channeled through dedicated prayers every single week, month & year by churches like Redeem, MFM, Winners, CAC, Cherubim & Seraphim, Anglican & Celestial - since I was a kid, Nigeria would have been transformed into Tokyo, Berlin & Sydney by now.
Until we ban religion, buckle-up & start doing things the way it's being done in developed Countries, we will keep running in wider circles while hypocrites like you, your pastors & G.Os keep hiding under the impotent name of Jesus, while milking the gullible, brainwashed & foolish congregants in the name of “our heavenly father” who has never given 2fvcks about you being slaughtered by Boko Haram or ISIS.

Someone should ask him why he didn't encourage his daughter to jettison flying abroad when there are local options here in Naija some of these old men go just de yarn opata any how TheHerald: The Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, Bayo Onanuga has clarified his intentions following the backlash from his earlier post.
Recall that Nigerian blasted the NAN MD for posting on his Facebook wall that the suffering of Nigerians was mere political propaganda.
Addressing te post and clarifying his intent, Onanuga took to his Facebook wall to write:
“I need to make myself crystal clear to all those who have responded, some with vulgar abuse, some with disparaging remarks, to my statement on Facebook on the situation in my country.
First is that many people demonstrated in their reactions that they did not understand what I wrote. They simply read my statement upside down or ill-digested it. Several points I raised were mere hypotheses, mere suppositions, not conclusions. I asked: is it true? Have we been exaggerating our economic conditions? Can the media conduct some reality check?
In saying so, I remember a photograph of kwashiorkored kids published recently by one of our respected newspapers to illustrate ‘the hardship’ in the land. Of course, the photograph does not reflect any true reality about Nigeria, it was lifted from a foreign publication.
I thank all those who responded by countering my hypothesis with their own propositions about our condition.
I agree we all live in different parts of the country and I fully accept we see things in different light.
Second, no where in my statement did I suggest that our country is not going through a difficult time and that our people are not going through some hardship. The President himself has admitted this on several occasions.
As the economic crisis rages on, everyone has been affected one way or the other, including those in government at all levels. Even Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote has had his wealth vastly reduced by the economic crisis.
As Nigerians we need to understand very quickly that we are going through the worst economic crisis in our history. Wailing, apportioning blames are not, in my view, the appropriate reactions to the crisis. We need to begin to change the way we live. If you are used to consuming imported things such as Thailand Rice, American Long Grain rice, the times dictate we jettison the idea and go for local Abakaliki or Ofada rice. If you like foreign dresses, it’s time to switch to the locally made fabrics. If you have a vehicle that guzzles petrol, it’s time to switch to fuel efficient ones.
And the latter reminds me of the American reaction when crude was trading at $140 a few years ago. Many Americans dumped their SUVs. Many of the rejected vehicles were shipped to Nigeria. Now that petrol price is high in our country, as a result of the Avengers crisis and the unfavourable forex regime, is it not time also we copied the Americans, dumped the SUVs and jumped on public transport or shared transport?
My takeaway from my experience today is that Nigerians seldom read critically any post. We read superficially and make comments, most often trivialising serious issues.
And finally, I have spent the past 36 years post-graduation defending the cause of the Nigerian people. Contrary to some opinions, my view is not influenced by my official position. Those who peddle such lies do not know me. I pray God to forgive them.”
