Thanks for the clarification. Though not they way I thought being that the ministers for example do not necessarily have to be versed in the ministry this I see as political unlike the military where their head needs to be a military personnel... this I see as professional or career based. infotrust: Service Chief is not a rank that you must reach You've not work in government establishment nor understand bureaucratic setting. There are appointments that are so called because anybody within certain level in an organisation or institution may so be appointed as suites the appointer. That why you something see juniors been appointed to head institution while any of his senior are mostly retired eg AIG to IG while the DIGs are retired |
Politics › Re: Saraki Goofs, Says No Need For Senate Confirmation For New Service Chiefs by bigtt76(f): 9:09am On Jul 14, 2015 |
How can appointment of Service Chiefs be a political appointment biko? A political appointment (IMO) is one made with respect to the appointee being a member of a political party or affiliations.
A Service Chief on the other hand are career based appointments and should be at the prerogative of the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces to make.
I know people would compare this to the appointment of Judges of the High Courts, Courts of Appeal and Supreme Courts where judges are appointed based on their seniority and sent for approval at either the state or federal legislative levels ...but no Service chief appointments are different.
What would happen senate rejects the appointment of the service chiefs and there are no suitable replacement that fits the president's bill? |

Well with Boko Haram ravaging his backyard in Monguno, he has no option but to seat up and protect them. Its now a case of 'these are your brothers .....go fish and smoke them out' don't wait for other tribe or religion to do it for you. Thats the way I see it with the appointments by PMB. Though it looked as though he was biased with more appointments from the North, its pertinent to note that, Nigeria is currently at war and would have been the best Chief of Army Staff than one directly involved at the battlefront ....an Abuja Seat-tight General? Hell NO! Would you prefer a South Eastern as Army Chief in a war being fought in the North? Hell NO! So why don't we allow the North sort themselves out? I do not see the military bombarding the South East, South West or South South if the people in those regions behave themselves |

Have you tried to analyze the rationale behind the Northern appointees? We just condemn everything. The Northern appointed all come from areas afflicted with crisis which shows that PMB is intent on using the locals to clean up the Boko Haram scourge. Mogidi: The lopsided appointment continues, 6 officials today, 2 Southerners and 4 Northerners, nuff said. |

Nairaland General › Re: Lesser Hajj: Saraki Decries Saudi's Visa Policy by bigtt76(f): 7:33pm On Jul 12, 2015 |
Nor bi porsin wey newspapers and bloggers de report say de look for ways to meet with Buhari this? People can lie shaaa onile0500: Lesser Hajj: Saraki Decries Saudi's Visa Policy Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki has criticized the entry visa issuance policy of the Saudi Arabian embassy in Nigeria for this year's lesser hajj. Saraki who arrived Medinah on Saturday listened to complaints from some Nigerians who are performing the lesser hajj and noted that the Saudi authorities, unlike other embassies in the country, refused to articulate a visa policy which potential visitors to the holy land can follow and obtain their entry visa without any difficulty once they meet the requirements. "The present process in which visitors to Saudi must go through a third party has created artificial bottlenecks now being exploited by the travel agents and the embassy officials. Our people are now made to suffer indignities arising from conspiracy between the embassy officials and the so-called agents. The process is fraught with corrupt practices," he said. The Senate President said some Nigerians informed him that they had to send their passports through Saudi embassies in other West African countries where the cost of the visa was less and they did not need to go through the hardship experienced in Nigeria. "It is unimaginable the amount of money people paid to get visa for this year's lesser hajj and we do not want that to repeat itself for the hajj proper coming in a few months' time. You know this religious rites and obligations are very important to our people and so, despite these inconveniences, they still struggle to get here and we have a responsibility to ensure this exploitation and inconvenience stop immediately," Saraki said. He reassured Nigerians who complained to him that the Saudi visa policy will be one of the issues the Senate will look into when it resumes plenary later in the month and that the Saudi authorities as well as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abuja will be engaged to find a lasting solution to the problems of visa issuance to Nigerians by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Senate President further called on all Nigerian Muslims on lesser hajj and those at home to devote the last days of Ramadan to pray for peace, security, development and progress of Nigeria. He urged them to specifically ask for Allah's intervention in the search for a lasting solution to the Boko Haram crisis in the North-Eastern part of the country and for God to help President Muhammadu Buhari's administration to revamp the economy of Nigeria.
