AjanleKoko:
Come on guys. This is not any indication of any inter-tribal anything.
This is just like having a Sarkin Hausawa of Lagos or an Eze Ndigbo of Lagos.
The guy is ruling over his kind, the Esan people, in that location.
How about turbaning a Southerner as Emir of Zaria? Now that would be something!
yes it would be something - something stupid.
Why would a traditional ruler be a foreigner to the tribe he rules.
what would be your next request, that the oba of lagos comes from ghana? undecided

The move is significant in that it recognizes the esan people and gives them a voice in the traditional government.

that is still a criminal
The question is not about the veracity, but of decorum. The fact that he added 'tax evader' after the word 'criminal' shows that the latter word was uncalled for and its inclusion could be seen as just being obnoxious. Leaving out the word 'criminal' wouldn't have changed the meaning of the sentence.
And I suggested I care more about Saudi women than their own flesh and blood, where?

The world is flat now, silly. It's shrunk and more tightly hewn, and no country is truly 'sovereign' anymore; what each does reverberates and affects others in the short and long run. Given that some states in your own country have declared they owe greater allegiance to the Saudi Arabia govt than to Nigeria, I think you should be more circumspect about dismissing what happens there, hiding a 'they brought it on themselves' vengefulness behind 'reason'. Besides, it's a country's people that are sovereign,I think, and not its govt officials. And yes, the West can be cunning, and it's chilvary can sometimes be guided more by self-interest than anything else-why should it be any other way?- but at least they try. One evil does not another justify.
Oh so you don't care about saudi women, more than there own kin? that is surprising given your earlier rant about 'real horrors' (in your view) inflicted on them by their own family and their fellow citizens, or that 'they feel and think and eat and have the same thoughts you do'. If their own kin like them more than you do, then their own kin will make changes to their society.

You talk about reversing roles, how would you feel if US was an islamic nation, and were now trying to impose sharia values on the rest of the world? I doubt you would take kindly to it. More realistic is if they try to impose gay marriages on the rest of the world. Most would kick against it.

The world is not flat, as you cannot just barge in into any nation without the proper immigration clearance or permit. All countries are sovereign, both in government and its people. A government, or its people do not need the approval of any external group for how they live their lives or the laws they live by. I do not approve of gay marriages, should I then condemn the American government and bring pressure on them to change? No. If it suits the Americans, that is their choice.

When women were denied property rights in the rest of the world, the sharia system was different and treated women fairer. Nobody imposed it on them. Each nation should be allowed to evolve on its own and follow the desires of its majority. Is that not the cornerstone of democracy? If the majority of Saudi Arabians, including fathers, and brothers, have a problem wit te way things are, they would make effort to change it.

Its not about if what happens in Saudi is right or wrong, it is simply that you are in no position to judge what is good for the majority in Saudi. You have no evidence that the majority in Saudi share your sentiments. You cannot fight for freedom by infringing on the freedom of same you claim to fight for.

As to the guys in Kano, or any other Northern states, they are fully within your jurisdiction as a Nigerian, and you can use all legal means available to make your voice heard or bring pressure on them.

BTW its impressive that you can actual make a post with only one insult. You should try it with none.

CHURCHES PAYING TAX, WHAT DOES THAT HAVE TO DO IN BETTERING THE LIVES OF THE POOR MASSES?
CHURCHES PAYING TAX, IS THAT OUR PROBLEM IN NIGERIA? BULLSHIT.

Nigerian leaders are very good in embarking on inconsequential projects while ignoring the nitty-gritties that constitutes the Nigerian problem.
Tax evasion takes away from the income of the government and limits the government's ability to provide for the masses.
The issue was raised by the Lagos state government. I doubt anyone would question that, so far, the Fashola led regime is doing quite well in trying to fix the problems of Lagos.
One of Nigeria's problem is some not being able to see beyond the bridge of their nose.

Some of you guys are probably traumatised by so much negativity in Nigeria or your just plain disillusioned! undecided
While Soludo also got an award from the banker's magazine, the award you quoted was not from the banker's magazine, but rather from the publishers of IMF periodicals

At the 2005 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund/World Bank in Washington DC, the publishers of the Annual Meetings Daily and African Economy Magazine awarded him “The Global Central Bank Governor of the Year, 2006” , citing the result of his financial sector reforms as unprecedented anywhere within such a short period of time.

The bankers magazine award was also given in January 2006, and thus could not be a true reflection of the performance of Soludo or his capitalization exercise.

I am still waiting for you to provide details on your earlier list, and not waste time with irrelevant award references.

We definitely need to separate the religious institution from business endeavors.
The church/mosque should not own an institution that is not dedicated to theology, nor should it own retail establishments. It should not be running a travel agency business for those going on hajj.
Business that cannot be directly related to their primary functions, should be spun off as separate entities, and should not be hidden under the tax haven of a church.
The post about children abused in Ireland is meant to do what? This isn't a 'my religion is better than yours' dispute;this is about the very real horrors women and children face under Islamic religious laws. Something that extends to your own backyard, as I hear some Nigerian governor has ordered the girls in non-Muslim schools in his state to start wearing veils. The Catholic church has a notorious child abuse record and seems to attract paedophiles and some very cruel people. But that makes the cruelties inherent in the practice of Sharia all right in what way?

And to the moronic, vengeful ass who recommends the world stay out if it and let 'them' do as they please with those women and girls, afterall it is 'their' religion; like any individual or group has the right to impose their religious beliefs on another, more power to your imbecilic elbow.I suppose you conducted a poll and found those women signed up to be stoned to death, hung or bartered to men old enough to be their grandfathers. You don't need to be a muslim woman to relate with those women, to realise they feel and think and eat and have the same thoughts you do; all you have to be is a human being. You stick your fat ass in front of a computer and dismiss a woman's looming death with a few keystrokes; that's the extent of your courage. If conditions were reversed and it were you or your sister facing needless death, you'd sing a different tune.
Asshole.
The composition of your post, with predominantly ad hominem attacks, hints at the futility of an attempt in seeing reason with you. It is hilarious for you to suggest that you care more about the women of Saudi Arabia than their own flesh and blood, but then it is not surprising, as to a ant on a field the world is flat.

Taking the salary hit for all these years, and missing out on the top stars like lebron, would be so funny.

That is not a sound argument Diego Maradona was one legged, He couldnt use his head does that make Rummenigge better and more rounded

Ronaldo Lima does not use his head that should make Bierrhoff better.

Aguero plays in a lesser team so that would make him the central attraction
Have I said his being able to use both legs automatically makes him better?
I gave you a couple of areas you could consider when evaluating how rounded a player was, and all you have done is latched onto the first one and used it as an argument against a conclusion I never made. undecided
If you feel messi is a more rounded player than aguero simply say so, and you can support your conclusion with the right premise.
Both players are still very young, and one cannot say conclusively who will turn out the better player by their late twenties.

consider factors like ability to use the weaker foot, positions he can play in, finishing, robustness etc.
Watching both play on a weekly basis, the difference is clear.

Do not confuse Christianity with religion. Not everyone that calls himself a pastor is truly doing the work of God.
While there are those genuinely working for God, most work for their own selfish ends, and see it as a way out of unemployment. Otherwise, how do you explain the fact that despite there being a church on almsot every street, we are still a nation wallowing in sin, with corruption pervading every area of our society.
Should we now say that any criminal that calls himself a pastor can no longer be scrutinized?
All religious institutions, like any other above board establishment, should provide details of their account to the government, and should be taxed when necessitated by the law.
Christianity should not encourage secrecy, that should be left to the cultist.

I wouldnt say Dirk is better than bosh, as I feel for a 7ft guy, his paint game leaves a lot to be desired. I think they are just two different type of players: Dirk spreads the floor while Chris works the paint.Trading Dampier and Howard for Bosh wouldn't be much of an upgrade IMO, as it would leave dallas light up front ( Dirk is 7ft 245lbs and Bosh is 6-10 230lbs, while most centers are north of 255lbs) and without much scoring options in the back court (Kidd is getting older with each season).

- Dampier at 33yrs has $10M and $13M for the next two seasons. Not sure most teams will find that attractive.
- Kidd at 36 has no business being the 3rd highest paid player in the NBA ($21M). He should take a major cut or they should let him go
- Howard (and possibly terry) seem to be their best trading piece, but with the second highest 2009 Salary of  $93M (behind knicks with $95M) and a salary cap of $60M, the mavericks don't have much room to maneuver.

Cuban should take that team apart and rebuild.

There is nothing that stops us from breaking the charitable organizations and NGOs into smaller groups for tax purposes. We are not required to treat the red cross the same way as churches. Nigeria's tax laws should be formulated in the context of Nigeria.

As long as the celtics were not the only ones in the league at the time, I don't see your point.
A franchise is great when they are able to win the title with different sets of players. Winning with the same core, which included the best basketball player ever, does not qualify.
After the bulls win their next championship, then you can refer to them as a great franchise. A club that has not won even a conference title without Jordan, is not a great franchise.

You call awards by known international bodies, based on  results, carried out on a yearly basis, irrespective of whether Nigeria has a CBN governor or not as political. You are amazing ! And you must be very good at deceiving yourself
based on results? I wonder how they evaluated the results in 2005, when the exercise was completed in 2005. Shouldn't they have waited till a few years after to evaluate the results?
Did you even bothered to check who the previous and subsequent winners were? Greenspan and co, who were your yardstick, were they past winners?
Do you know who the publisher of the awarding IMF/worldbank magazine is? Chief Ikechi Emineke, who is touted as PDP Abia gubernatorial candidate for 2011. Can we then not question the objectivity of the award?
Like I said, I would rather not debate political accolades with you, but rather evaluate a CBN governor based on direct indices of how his tenure in office has affected the financial sector, and the economy has a whole.

So please provide details to your earlier list, so that we can put the discussion on firmer grounds.
