Civilians in Bayelsa State are suing the State Government and members of the House of Assembly for a 1.3 billion naira project that Governor Diepreye Alamieyeseigha awarded to the 24 members of the House of Assembly. The plaintiff's claim the process of award of the contract did not call for any tenders to be submitted, there was no proof that the members could execute the contracts properly, and the constitution of the state regards the Governnor and house members as primarily custodians of the law and not contract executors, etc. Guardian, Wednesday August 10, 2005 Page 6 You can stop corruption, the power is in your hands!! |
@Seun, if I was the moderator, I sure would have deleted your post fast! IAH, she looks good in the pix Seun posted, why do you have to go dig the worst pix in the world to prove your point. Anyways, let's ditch the flame wars and do good justice to the works of this fine lady.. |
Meanwhile the people in VI and Ikoyi are far healthier than those in Mushin, Ajegunle etc. Maybe they are going to the hospital to do plastic surgery to improve their beauty etc. The real people that need the services can neither afford or gain access to the services. This information is of little or no importance, that's if it's a confirmed truth anyways.. |
Well, let them put the exact figures that go to charity on the website for us to see. In as much as a minute number of people are winning a few millions, is this the kind of thing Nigeria needs at this time? Yeah, some salaries are being paid too, but what value do these Lottery services add to the lives of Nigerians? Believe it or not, 100s of thousands of extremely poor souls will keep using their little hard-earned money to play this lottery, and they will never win, and they will keep getting poorer. I guess the only significant value I see here is the entertainment. Some people enjoy the anxiety and all that the show brings. I hope nobody ever faint and die during the show sha. |

obong:Sincerely, the solution to internet scams is rather very simple. The internet keeps so much records of people's activities via ip addresses, the email addies used, the Internet Service Providers, the Cyber Cafes, and the Phone numbers for dialup users. And many of us know these yahoo yahoo boys; They try as much as possible to get noticed. I can bet if we all start reporting these people to the EFCC etc, they would do as much as they can to arrest these people starting from the most menacing. But the social question is: would you give away your close friend or close relative just like that? |
this is too much for me now. But I hope I'll be able to do a proper analysis on it and report back later. Chxta:i would have loved it to end with the guy not dying. as in maybe he was hit in the belly and he survived and became great or something.. I wish all stories have a happy ending. i will be back. |
not bad for a first post, preach on preacher |
Seun:probably his goal, whateva the case, i guess was eagerly expecting reactions! |
Behavioural Sciences, Psychology. Not Bad At All. Fine Profile Seun, about the virginity thing, isnt that too xrated to be allowed? and do you girls agree anyways? |

@Imnakoya, your blog is really nice. i hope i'll get to comment on your posts soon. You are a good man. Keep it up, SIR. |
i could not agree with joftech more. thanks for airing my views. i will just mention a few things. Why dont we start an online communication mechanism more like nairaland but more directed, where we have a goal, an objective: to contribute to the development of Naija, not just discuss. It could end up being a political party tomorrow or proper NGO. We address all the issues ravaging Naija, we analyse government's actions, the reforms etc. Also, like Joftech said, the people in Government are not the real problem. If the wrong person is in government, it's because the right person does not want to serve or is too corwardly to do so. People need to ask questions from government. Call Obasanjo on that monthly programme. Go to Public Hearings. Submit bills through your Representative in the House of Representatives or your Senator. Know your councillor, your chairman. Understand democracy and practise it. But most of us dont really want to contribute to Naija's progress. We either dont talk at all or we just talk with no results.. God bless Naija. Amin. |
I really appreciate what this ma'am is doing. But it's all because the President chose the right person. And there are as many capable people in his cabinet still. For example, Fola Adeola(former MD of GTB) is doing an astounding work on Pension Reforms. God bless Okonjo-Iweala. God bless the President Obasanjo. God bless Nigeria. Amin! |
Accept my apologies if i was provocative. Maybe I react once in a while while discussing National issues. But Nigeria's issues are serious ones anyways. I am aware there are many a people who reside outside the country but still care about its progress and future. But once in a while, there are some who just preach doom and dont really care. Nigeria is riddled with corruption and lawlessness. This is not new. It has been acquired over the past 45 years. And with subsequent democracies, I believe the problems can be dealt with successfully. I do not except anybody to start proclaiming doom at this juncture. My 2 kobo.. |
well, when i think of this Babangida and Atiku talk of Presidency, i'm scared and i just hope something happens so both of them dont succeed. but maybe we should turn our worry into positive thinking and planning. can we influence people to be more proactive? the say the pen is mightier than the sword |
i am yet to read all the comments, but i applaud the contributions of everyone. in particular, thanks to the editor who mailed me this link. my own input is this: i do not agree with the tone this thread started with. if anything, nigeria is in arguably the best point it has ever been in its independence. in fact, the title should be: Nigeria on the Brink of Lawfulness. Cant people see the outstanding actions our dear President Obasanjo has been making to bring progress to Nigeria and Africa in general? See, today many things that would otherwise have been covered are being revealed. But everyone thinks it's only Obasanjo that must solve every problem. There is nothing wrong in discussing our problems. But let's do so in a positive optimistic manner. I will always react to someone to preaches hopelessness and doom. And i have found that this is often preached by people who are currently outside nigeria. Are you trying to justify your reason for running away? |
really, at times, i see religion as a burden that we impose on ourselves just to make life harder. if i love someone and she is so right for me before i knew her religion, why should that change after i find out that our religions differ? i am advocate for inter-religious marriages. but i have found out that it could be difficult in practice mainly becos of the other people involved - family, friends etc. but i think it's good for the kids - they get to know about the 2 religions and they get to choose sensibly the one that really works for them. it could also have the benefit of making the couple more considerate and understanding about the other religions and how similar we all are as human beings. but let's face it - whether we like it or not Islam and Christianity are extensions of foreign cultures that are used as tools of colonisation. Africa, where art thy cultures? |
By the 3 arms of Government, my feeble mind interpretes Executive, Judiciary and Legislative. Without much ado, i conclude the most corrupt is the Executive. The Executive comprises Federal, State and Local Governments. And i believe Naija dey suffer past today becos of the gross misdeeds and misappropriations of the people at the State Level and the state assemblies remain silent and barren about it all. Too bad i am lazy, but i would love to stumble across comparative analysis of Naija's state governments. |
this marilyn nwene is quite fine. i'm already a fan and i hope she gets to be more popular. Amen! |
