Despite reports claiming that a woman who was accused of blasphemy was beheaded, the Police have debunked those reports.

Metronaija confirmed the death of 75 year old Mrs Bridget, a trader at the Wambai market.

She was accused by a mob of blasphemy and was beaten to death. The Nigerian Police Force have said she was not beheaded as was earlier reported.

Her husband has also corroborated this claim in a press conference as he said she was beaten to death.

Two people have been arrested in connection with the killing as the search for all the men involved in the mob action continues.

Two men were found dead while stealing electricity cables in Orji Community, a nearby town in Owerri, the Imo State Capital.

According to reports, the suspected thieves reportedly went to steal electricity cables connected to a transformer around 2am on the fateful day, but got electrocuted in the process.
