wirinet:
I am very saddened by your statement. How can you say the people that have been cheated, traumatised and pauperised by the political elite are the problem. Please answer the folowing questions;
Is is the people that appoint inec officials?
Is it the people that deploy mopol, police and the army?
Do the people have the resources to deploy political thugs both from within and without.

You should at least comments the people of Ekiti for attempting to enforce their political rights, whether they can defeat the rigging machinery of the pdp is another matter. You making these allegations, have you ever fought for your right? in any way whatsoever. The slightest sound of danger and you would run.

Well done to the people of Ekiti for trying to defend their democratic rights, if more states do that i am sure Nigeria would improve.
I have been monitoring events ever since the tribunal called for fresh elections and sorry i forgot to give credit to few that are fighting the majority who want to manipulate election results.  The question is who are these majority?.  The majority are the still people.  it is not pratically possible for fayemi or oni to rig elections it has to be done by the people.

Until the good few can change the ideology of the bad majority then we will not see change yet.  I just hope and pray that people votes are allowed to count.

Who are these thugs
who are these inec officals
who are these mopol

I will be glad to inform you that all of the above are still the "people".  South Africa just concluded an election. An election that was conducted all over the country and not  in 64 wards and not a single report of violence.  What is wrong with our people. South Africa for God's sake got independence after Nigeria.

I concurr with everything the poster has said

Everybody knows that pictures speaks 1000 times more than text. it is proven and worldly accepted you are more likely to sell your product 20 times more than somebody who has no pictures. But due to the nature of the fact that alot of Nigerians are scam artist and bloody opportunist we are where we are. very sad

This Election clearly confirms the following

1. Our leaders are not the problem

2. The people are the problem. ( violence, rigging, backward thinking, primitive)

3. Nigerians are not ready for change henceforth PDP is going to rule for 60 years we might as well adopt a "One party system"

My Lecturer who was top java lecturer and software engineering expert ( Mr Fintan Culwin) (gave java lectures all over the world) told me that best was to learn java or any programming language is "practice" ( you will need to feel, is possible eat the code) - you will have to iimmerse your self in programming, programming programming - it also like learning french or german. it will require effort on your path. As rightly said programming is completely different from software engineering.

Your mastery of details must be combined with logical thinking and the ability to focus for long periods.
PoliticsBreaking News: Fresh Tension In Ekiti As Inec Fails To Hold Poll In Oye by blacksta(op): 1:28pm On Apr 26, 2009
Fresh mounting is brewing across Ekiti State, as the Independent National Electoral Commission appears to have decided against holding the rerun governorship election in Oye Wards 1 and 2.

There were reports that INEC‘s headquarters in Abuja asked its officials deployed in the state for the poll to return. As at Saturday night, INEC had announced the results in five local government areas of Gbonyin, Ise-Orun, Ekiti South-West, Ifelodun/Irepodun and Ijero.

The result as at Saturday night indicated that the two leading contenders - Dr. Kayode Fayemi of the Action Congress and Mr. Segun Oni of the Peoples Democratic Party - were closely tied. While Fayemi had 15,026 votes, Oni had 15, 420.

Areas where election was concluded but were yet to be announced are Ekiti East, Ikole, Ido-Osi and EKiti West.

AC supporters had beseiged INEC‘s collation centre at Christ Girls‘ School, Ado-Ekiti as early as 6a.m., insisting that they would not allow any manipulation of the results.

Although the Acting Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Tunji Odeyemi, told a television station in Lagos on Sunday morning that the election was ongoing in Oye, our correspondents reported that there was nothing like that.

In fact, Punch photographer, Mr. Segun Bakare, was attacked by suspected PDP thugs at Oye, who seized his camera and threatened to shoot him. Bakare had to flee the area for safety.

Odeyemi had told the television station that all the results of Saturday‘s rerun election, except Oye, had been collated and would be announced later in the day.

But unconfirmed reports indicated that the remaining results would be announced in Abuja.

There were unconfirmed allegations that INEC might announce the results without Oye or even opt for the cancellation of the poll and the conduct of a fresh election. Odeyemi, however, debunked reports that some people died during Saturday‘s election.

However, one of our correspondents in Ado-Ekiti reports that INEC has so far received all the results for the nine local government areas while collation would hold at 5p.m. today.

Also, our correspondent learnt from an INEC official, who declined to be named, that the election in Oye would be held on Monday.

AC suporters blocked the major road leading to the INEC collation centre in Ado-Ekiti. Chanting war songs and waving leaves, they sang in Yoruba that they would not allow anyone to tamper with Fayemi‘s votes. They also threatened to deal with anyone who attempted to manipulate the results.

The PDP in a statement accused the AC of stalling the election in Oye.

There were concerns about why the 10,000 policemen deployed in the state for the election could not contain the violence, which continued on Sunday.

PoliticsEkiti Rerun 6: Inec Officials Kidnapped As Poll Closes And Results Triclkle In by blacksta(op): 7:28pm On Apr 25, 2009
The Ekiti rerun election is coming to a close as many polling stations, though started late but are rounding up now. There is palpable tremor of joy in Ekiti people’s hearts as they began to tally results from various polling units across the wards where elections took place peacefully. The people fought gallantly and foiled many attempts by PDP thugs to steal ballot boxes and rig the elections.

Today the people of Ekiti demystified the so-called influence of Senator Ayo Arise. The man that was the loudest among the PDP chieftains. All the power and strategy of the PDP were anchored on Arise, whom they believed hold the ace to Oni’s victory.

He was effectively checkmated and neutralized by irate youths who almost lynched him when it was discovered that he was massively thumb-printing ballot papers in his house for a fake victory by PDP. Ekiti was saved from the edge of bloodbath as youths invaded Arise’s house to scatter his plot to rig the election. He was saved at the nick of time by the DIG John Ahmadu, who quickly intervened upon security reports from Abuja.

The end result? 36 political thugs were rounded up by the police in Arise’s house. Full of dangerous weapons and fetish objects called charms, which Arise excused as local protection for his boys. All the electoral material were reportedly confiscated from Arise’s house. He was later led out by the police to calm frayed nerves of the irate mob. The election in Oye local government have therefore been cancelled or suspended.

Conflicting but unconfirmed reports reaching us as we go to the press indicates that Arise has been released on self-recognition and intervention by political hawks from Abuja whose interests he has been zealously protecting.

A sad news also crept in about noon today on how PDP thugs shot and abducted AC Senator Lawrence Agunbiade aka Laco in his light green Toyota Sienna car, number DZ18GGE. He is critically hovering between life and death at a private hospital in Ekiti now.

Agunbiade’s Personal Assistant, Mr. Femi Ekundayo, was also kidnapped by a local government chairman, but was lucky to be rescued by policemen later. Ekundayo was reported to have escaped bullets shot at him. He also alleged that he saw over 75 double barrel guns in the hands of the thugs led by the LG Chairman that kidnapped him.

Desperate last minute efforts to reverse the sure defeat of PDP were made by two Senators mobilized by Governor Oyinlola of Osun State. Senator Isiaka Adeleke representing Osun Central Senatorial District and Iyiola Omisore visited INEC office in Ado-Ekiti for meetings that were shrouded in mystery thjis afternoon

it is about time the leaders also fell the pain. If projects all over the country were properly implemented rather than diversion of funds maybe Nigeria might not been in state of anarchy.
