I came across an app named 'android messenger' at goggle play store and it appeared that Nigerians were the only ones downloading the app judging from the user comments. Who can explain the reason for this? lol |
Obinoscopy: Nigerians are really talented! Nice one!And everywhere still remains slums? |
Those ballons will never spot boko haram planting a bomb somewhere or policemen molesting a citizen or the presence of potholes on certain roads that need maintainance or beggers in the streets. It will only show which roads are free enough to move looted funds from point A to B |
If you find out why everywhere is full of slums then you have gotten the answer. |
I saw this news and decided to drop it here for our experts to explain further. LAGOS (Reuters) - Nigeria's Starcomms has agreed a $210 million investment deal with investor group Capcom Limited for a 90.5 percent stake in the telecom business, the stock exchange said on Wednesday. Under the deal, Capcom, an investment vehicle with offices in Lagos, will merge the assets of privately-held telecom firms MTS and Multi-links with Starcomms, Nigeria's only listed telecoms company, and provide $98 million to finance their integration. Capcom aims to create a national broadband internet company out of the merger. Starcomms is the only telecoms company in Nigeria that is listed on the local bourse. Nigeria's telecom regulator told Reuters this month that three of its CDMA mobile operators - Starcomms, Multi-links and MTS - were seeking approvals to merge. CDMA mobile operators like Starcomms have been hard hit from increasing competition in recent years in Africa's biggest telecom market, causing these firms to lose market share to rival GSM operators. South Africa's MTN, India's Airtel and Emirate's Etisalat account for around 95 percent of the local market. "The proposal from Capcom will enable Starcomms to reduce its high level of borrowings and improve its low liquidity position," Starcomms chief executive, Olusola Oladokun said. "Given the significant challenges the business has faced over the last two years, Capcom's investment will facilitate a strategic turnaround." The deal still needs a nod from Starcomms shareholders and regulatory approval by the Securities and Exchange Commission. http://news.yahoo.com/nigerias-starcomms-gets-210-mln-investment-group-053833678--sector.html;_ylt=ApeGePm6aa31lJAd4E8.du3Nt.d_;_ylu=X3oDMTVmbmV2NzdmBGNjb2RlA3JkdG9wMTAwMHBvb2wEbWl0A0FydGljbGUgTWl4ZWQgTGlzdCBOZXdzIGZvciBZb3Ugd2l0aCBNb3JlIExpbmsEcGtnAzg4ODliNzM5LWQ0OGUtMzFmYi04MDZjLWZkZDFkZjk5Mjc2NwRwb3MDOARzZWMDbmV3c19mb3JfeW91BHZlcgM5ODZiZDQ3MC0yM2U2LTExZTItYmY3Ni01MmNjNzU5NzVmMDQ-;_ylg=X3oDMTM1bGNhdWlxBGludGwDdXMEbGFuZwNlbi11cwRwc3RhaWQDZWFhNTIyY2EtYTk4Yi0zNzEwLWFkYWQtMzQ2MzU3N2E2Y2U4BHBzdGNhdANwb2xpdGljc3x0aGV0aWNrZXQEcHQDc3RvcnlwYWdl;_ylv=3 So what should we expect from this? |
oya this is an opportunity for folks to advertise their sites and save themselves seun's "high" advertisement fees. |
Of what use is 200GB in Nigeria when the speed is 5kb/s? |
I thought this topic should reach 3 pages by now. I guess Nairalanders are hungry and weak to post. Seun should better declare free garri for all to return traffic to nairaland. |
I dont think its a good idea to blame this on boko haram straightaway cos the truth will remain covered if actually something else caused this. And it may happed again. |
I think Nigerians have a very good opportunity to turn things around for good but are not utilizing it. The opportunity comes from the fact that we currently have a listening president who hears the voice of the masses. Nigerians spoke against the banning of the national football team and the president listened. Nigerians spoke against the subidy issue and the president listened. Nigerians spoke against the introduction of the N5000 note and the president listened. So why cant Nigerians take advantage of the listening president and make a constant loud noise concerning every problem they are facing? Why do Nigerians wait and only make noise on new policies that will only affect the price of fuel and garri? Nigerians are expecting their leaders to perform wonders, but Nigerians are not performing by having a loud constant voice. Nigerians look UP to their leaders, but unfortunately their leaders look DOWN on them cos they don't have a voice. |
trae_z: had this issue myself...I've resolved it now. the thing is that MTN daily gives you 500 when you use 100, or 1000 when you use 200.Good explanation. Do you work for MTN? But how come the MTN customer care personels do not know these things when I visited their office? When I told them at first they were even laughing. |
Why has only one lady answered? |
emilyone: 10%Sounds honest. daisyella: Lol @ allocate per month,is he paying her salary. That's the real situation of things nowadays. let us be sincere. |
I have heard ladies mention "stingy man" often and I really want to know what is the threshold or the limits of being called a stingy man or a charitable man using the following question directed to the ladies. If your boyfriend/husband earns about N1 million a month and you are an unemployed lady, what minimum limit of his income should he allocate to you per month to make you give him a pass-mark and call him a charitable man? Everyone knows for instance that a lady would say a man is stingy if he earns such an income and drops N10,000 for her to cover her needs for the month. In some cases ladies would keep quiet to avoid being called a gold digger only to gossip behind the scenes about her stingy guy. Every lady will surely have a different figure to quote according to her needs, lifestyle and extent of greed, but an average figure can be drawn out of them all. So what minimum limits do ladies expect from a guy making N1 mill a month? |
I bought a new MTN line, activated it and switched from the default PAYGO tariff plan to the SMOOTH TALK tariff plan. According to MTN's website and posters, the smooth talk plan offers a call rate of 20kobo/second for MTN to MTN calls and 30kobo/second for MTN to other networks without the optional N5 daily access fee. But to my suprise after making several calls and verifying the charges, I discovered that the smooth talk tariff plan was turned upside down; my calls to other networks is charged at 20kobo/second while calls to MTN numbers are charged at 30kobo/second. I have visited the MTN office twice concerning this issue and they couldnt do anything about it. Instead I was adviced to change my tariff plan. When I left the customer care centre and later decided to change my tariff plan, I was shocked again to see that I wasnt allowed to migrate to another tariff plan. Please can someone explain exactly whats going on here cos this scenario is profiting MTN and keeping me at a loss since I call more MTN numbers than non-MTN numbers. Is this an intentional mistake by MTN? |
Welcome to the extinction of qwerty physical keypads. |
Animals think in pictures while humans think in words and pictures. If a dog is hungry it will have a photo visualization of the garri it swallowed previously. |
Sorry it wouldnt stop me from making love with my darling samsung smartphone. |
This is not really about a video portraying the truth about the situation of Nigeria. But the fact is that the video should have portrayed both the positive and negative together so that it wouldnt look as if Nigeria is 100% slums. Some foreigners may think Nigeria is 100% slums just watching that video. And thats not really nice. Things like this is what fires up racism and portrayal of the black man as sub-humans. |
If that planned N5000 note was made to be coins and lower Naira notes left as they are, I think it would have answered all the questions that opposed the introduction of that N5000 note. Why can't N5000 note be coins instead? Or is there any rule that says only lower currency denominations should be in coins? |
Sony is here to show that they are not just a smartphone manufacturer, but an electronics giant. Sony has taken full control of Sonyericsson. The newer phones will now come under their name SONY. |
A lot of us are so occupied with iphone 5 and galaxy s3 that we ignore a silent big boss coming up. I am talking about Sony Xperia V which will run android 4. This smartphone seems to have some intresting features beating the iphone 5 and galaxy S3. The features includes dust and water resistance, superior pixel density display. 13 megapixel camera and muti touch screen up to 10 fingers simultaneously. Before you rush to grab the iphone 5, I think you should pause a bit and have rethink.

You guys are seeing this from a wrong angle. The presidency kept a secret only known to the inner cirle of trusted aides and security personnel, but the information leaked out. It implies the president's life isnt that safe in the so-called trusted hands. |
PointB: You cannot be certain. The graduate might create more businesses and employ their 'mates'. Humans creative ability is unlimited. The last time I checked most graduates are not able to follow that path due to lack of substantial capital. |
If northern youths attend universities in massive numbers like the southerners do, what sort of numbers of unemployed graduates will Nigeria be faced with? |
Whats with that boko haram bomb the size of a 100 cups garri calabash? |
Chai. God created things. |
