AmazingAngel: I know this is probably coming late, but can't help wondering, did you try installing another third party camera app (eg google camera) and see if you can change to back camera on that app? The solutions people have mentioned seem a bit extreme to me |

purplekayc: It's debian you're using? in that case there was no need to sudo, just su to root and with root do whatever you want to do 1 Like |

Raphaellee: Why not use odin on your laptop? And I should think any version of samsung >= 5.0 should work, not necessarily 5.0.1, just make sure it's for the specific samsung version Try plugging the phone to a laptop for a few minutes, see whether the charging logo will finally come on |

Maleeq: Har har, didn't see that one coming, and i also felt 141mb should be enough free space for whatever kernel you might have wanted to install |
Computers / Re: Ubuntu Linux by blackweaver(m): 10:15am On Jun 30, 2016 |
Maleeq: Maybe you should try freeing some space in your /tmp folder i'm just fishing, i don't really know what the problem is either. By the way can you actually save a file outside your home folder (using root permission of course)? Or you could try to su to root and run the update from the terminal |
Computers / Re: Ubuntu Linux by blackweaver(m): 4:53pm On Jun 29, 2016 |
Maleeq: I know this is probably stupid, but try removing that memory card first. Who knows if it's trying to write something there. If that doesn't work, try booting into recovery mode and do a disk checkup, there might be some corruption on the filesystem |

Beejayw: well when i went to the linuxmint site anc clicked on the download tab, i could see the option for 32bit and 64 bit. Maybe i'm not getting what exactly you want. Same thing for the ubuntu website, once you select desktop download |

40manlappy: your new phone, does it run a different version of android from the old phone? I suspect it might be permission issue, maybe your whastapp cannot access your contacts. Backup your whatsapp folder, uninstall whatsapp then reinstall from the play store. If you cannot access your whatsapp conversations restore the whatsapp folder you backed up |
Computers / Re: Ubuntu Linux by blackweaver(m): 6:08am On Jun 27, 2016 |
Beejayw: youncan get mint from linuxmint.com and ubuntu from ubuntu.com |

tohshine: unfortunately your problem is probably hardware related, i'm suspecting that the antenna terminal has been affected or the antenna is broken so now the reception is poor |

If you check the model of your laptop battery, you will see models that are compatible with yours, or you can check the model of the jumia battery and check online to see if it is certified compatible with your laptop |

Pharmizzy: try backing up your phone then doing a factory reset first. Then again since your phone is already rooted, you can install titanium backup and backup your user apps, (you might also have to backup your contacts and sms too) then do a factory reset. After that restart your phone, reinstall titanium backup and restore all your user apps |
Phones / Re: Android, Anyone? Part II by blackweaver(m): 11:21am On May 31, 2016 |
martinoh: I suspect an app that comes with the phone or that has been installed in the system partition is automatically installing these apps. Hope you're not using a third party app store. Anyway next time you do a factory install, install noroot firewall, install it and enable internet access to only the apps you are sure you want to use to access the internet, e.g. your browsers, play store and maybe games that won't play without internet access. You will have to actively monitor the apps that you allow to connect to the internet, and if you restart your phone, you have to enable the app again since it requires authorisation everytime you restart the phone |

That: Before you flash a rom, you need to have a custom recovery - usually clockworkmod or TWRP or some variant of them. If your phone doesn't already have one, you have to search online on how to install a custom recovery on your phone model. If your phone is a mediatek phone or a very popular, the odds is that you can get a custom recovery. Anyway if you have a custom recovery, you should do a backup on your memory card - becaus when flashing a custom rom the odds are that you will do a factory reset and if the backup is on your phone, bye bye backup. 1 Like |

oluwasike: I use Tubemate (www.tubemate.net) Because of google's policy of not allowing apps to download from youtube, you won't find it on the play store. However i must warn you that it has quite a no of ads that can be quite annoying |
Phones / Re: The Top Selling Smartphone Of All Time Will Surprise You by blackweaver(m): 1:12pm On Apr 22, 2016 |
khalhokage: If you checked my post well, you would notice the fact that I didn't dispute the fact that the 6600 was the best selling phone, in fact even the links I cited gave them the same figure (> 150m). It was only the fact that the 6600 was listed as the ONLY smartphone in the top 10 that I took issue with. I guess there wasn't enough information to tell which actually sold more |
Phones / Re: The Top Selling Smartphone Of All Time Will Surprise You by blackweaver(m): 11:23am On Apr 21, 2016 |
khalhokage: Op, while i don't have any issue with what you have written, you were only quoting your source after all, I do have issues with your source. They mention a list of the top 10 phones, they do not give any information about the list or any references to corroborate their information. Anyway i did a little search of my own and discovered that the bolded part is wrong. The Nokia 5230 which ran symbian series 60 5th edition sold nearly as many if not more phones as the 6600. In fact in the following link: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/2016/01/26/the-20-bestselling-mobile-phones-of-all-time/ the 6600 is ranked 6th while the 5230 is ranked 5th Also on wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best-selling_mobile_phones both phones are ranked the same. Like I said, I don't have any issue with your post, my issue is with your source. Other links with lists of top selling phones are as follows: http://www.buymobilephoneinsurance.com/blog/top-20-best-selling-mobile-phones-of-all-time http://www.technobezz.com/the-20-best-selling-phones-of-all-times and some of these links didn't even feature the 6600 |
