Gud evening

Please i need your help concerning my Lenovo phone, I can't switch the camera to the back camera, there's no option to switch it like before (but the front camera is functional), it's just the HDR,panorama mode and normal mode switch that's on the screen.

Your help will be appreciated, tanx

I know this is probably coming late, but can't help wondering, did you try installing another third party camera app (eg google camera) and see if you can change to back camera on that app?

The solutions people have mentioned seem a bit extreme to me

its the "sudo"app that I failed to install now I have it working except my dam n password which I can't remember not to worry though as I would soon do a clean upgrade

It's debian you're using? in that case there was no need to sudo, just su to root and with root do whatever you want to do

Either your flash drive is bad or the .iso is bad.

You shouldn't be getting I/O errors with a USB stick

Try another stick, if its the same issue then download the .iso again

Beejayw:

at last someone, thanks boss, will try that today and get back here

or if you can get a rewritable (NOT recordable o, since that can only written once), then you can try writing the iso to it

That simply mean my universal modem or mtn dongle will work after installing Ubuntu?

It should. If you're not sure boot up the livecd and see if your dongle will work - but generally it should

@op I have a HP pavilion g series that run on windows 7, my question is

1. After installing Ubuntu, do I need to install drivers for USB, WiFi and other feature to work.

No you don't, unless there's a device that uses proprietary drivers, the ones that come out of the box with Ubuntu will suffice

Hello engineers in the house, i am using a samsung s4 GT-i9500 android version 5.0.1. The problem with it is that it got stucked at the samsung logo when i wanted to boot it, n it starts restarting and would boot to home screen, so i decided to flash it with stock rom. I put it to download mode and i removed the battery (i know i was stupid der, pls don't blame me) and now its hard bricked, i can't put it to download mode or recovery mode. It doesnt boot at all, and when i plug it via USB, its nor recognised by my pc. Please amy solution to it

I watched some video on youtube about unbricking with sd card. Now my problem is the unbrick image file for samsung s4 gt-i9500 android version 5.0.1. Please amyone using samsung s4 GT-i9500 with android version 5.0.1 should help me create an unbrick image file pls. I beg u

Why not use odin on your laptop? And I should think any version of samsung >= 5.0 should work, not necessarily 5.0.1, just make sure it's for the specific samsung version

Try plugging the phone to a laptop for a few minutes, see whether the charging logo will finally come on

OK. I think i got it! Apparently, the space left on my /boot partition isn't enough to install the new kernel. I had a bunch of old and unused kernels still installed. The fix was to remove them:
1. run uname -r to get the current linux kernel in use.
2. run dpkg -l | grep ^ii | grep linux-image | awk {'print $2'} | grep -v extra to get a listing of all kernels installed.
3. For each kernel in #2 that is not the current Kernel listed in #1, run dpkg --purge linux-image-x.xx.x-xx-generic
the x represents the kernel details.
4. run sudo apt-get install -f and you should be fine.

Har har, didn't see that one coming, and i also felt 141mb should be enough free space for whatever kernel you might have wanted to install

I just tried that....but still the same result! Make una epp mi o!!! cry

Maybe you should try freeing some space in your /tmp folder i'm just fishing, i don't really know what the problem is either. By the way can you actually save a file outside your home folder (using root permission of course)?
Or you could try to su to root and run the update from the terminal

Guys, I am having an error I cannot seem to wrap around.

I got some notification for updates; I did, but it fails with the message below:

Quick look says "disk full", i run df- h and i still have space on my drives:

Dunno what else to do! I am on Ubuntu 14.04

I know this is probably stupid, but try removing that memory card first. Who knows if it's trying to write something there.
If that doesn't work, try booting into recovery mode and do a disk checkup, there might be some corruption on the filesystem

Hello, I got a new Android device and recovered my Whatsapp chats. However, I noticed that my phone contacts did not sync "namewise" with my Whatsapp contacts i.e. unlike before, my Whatsapp contacts are ONLY displaying phone numbers and not the names of my contacts.

I have rebooted my phone several times, deleted and reinstalled Whatsapp twice on the phone but nothing has changed. When someone chats me up, I need to check our past chats or the profile picture to determine who I am chatting with. This is really frustrating, to say the least.

Has anyone experienced this? How was it resolved? Thank you.

your new phone, does it run a different version of android from the old phone? I suspect it might be permission issue, maybe your whastapp cannot access your contacts. Backup your whatsapp folder, uninstall whatsapp then reinstall from the play store. If you cannot access your whatsapp conversations restore the whatsapp folder you backed up

I feel your pain, recently bought a laptop, first thing i did was remove the os,i don't do secure boot and stuff. Have already put my multiple oses on it. If you check the model of your laptop battery, you will see models that are compatible with yours, or you can check the model of the jumia battery and check online to see if it is certified compatible with your laptop

Gurus, how do I move my phone contacts from one Android device to another?

I exported my contacts to Gmail but they are not syncing with the new phone.

What do I do please?

To manually transfer your contacts, you can open your contacts app, in the menu select import/export and export your phone contacts to your sdcard, move the sdcard to the destination phone, go to contacts -> import/export and import from sdcard to phone

Plz I need help to fix my infinix hot note. When trying to use a custom font the phone got stuck at the XUI loading screen. I am using the lollipop rom with custom recovery installed, my phone is rooted as well. I have the lollipop rom on my system, can I simply flash it? Plz help. And if yes.. Am I to use the download only option or format+ download..

try backing up your phone then doing a factory reset first. Then again since your phone is already rooted, you can install titanium backup and backup your user apps, (you might also have to backup your contacts and sms too) then do a factory reset. After that restart your phone, reinstall titanium backup and restore all your user apps

please help!! I need urgent help on this, my itel it1701
keep install different useless applications on it
own. the worst part is that I tried to uninstall
those app but it won't go I even restore factory
settings of the phone several time those useless
app will come back and they'll start installing on there own . I think is virus application please
help me out thanks

I suspect an app that comes with the phone or that has been installed in the system partition is automatically installing these apps. Hope you're not using a third party app store. Anyway next time you do a factory install, install noroot firewall, install it and enable internet access to only the apps you are sure you want to use to access the internet, e.g. your browsers, play store and maybe games that won't play without internet access. You will have to actively monitor the apps that you allow to connect to the internet, and if you restart your phone, you have to enable the app again since it requires authorisation everytime you restart the phone
Phones / Re: Android, Anyone? Part II by blackweaver(m): 12:19pm On May 25, 2016
That:
when one wants to flash an android ROM , the file should be saved in phone/MC ? And to do a back up of your ROM first how do you go about it ? Thanks

Before you flash a rom, you need to have a custom recovery - usually clockworkmod or TWRP or some variant of them. If your phone doesn't already have one, you have to search online on how to install a custom recovery on your phone model. If your phone is a mediatek phone or a very popular, the odds is that you can get a custom recovery.
Anyway if you have a custom recovery, you should do a backup on your memory card - becaus when flashing a custom rom the odds are that you will do a factory reset and if the backup is on your phone, bye bye backup.

I guess I should have researched more, it seems that the Nokia 5230 is actually the best-selling smartphone of all time.

But you'll agree that any source that doesn't include the 6600 is inaccurate.

If you checked my post well, you would notice the fact that I didn't dispute the fact that the 6600 was the best selling phone, in fact even the links I cited gave them the same figure (> 150m). It was only the fact that the 6600 was listed as the ONLY smartphone in the top 10 that I took issue with. I guess there wasn't enough information to tell which actually sold more
Phones / Re: The Top Selling Smartphone Of All Time Will Surprise You by blackweaver(m): 11:23am On Apr 21, 2016
khalhokage:
If you were asked to name the top selling smartphone of all time, lemme guess…perhaps you would mention an iPhone model or perhaps a Samsung Galaxy model. Or perhaps you wouldn’t. But if you mentioned either, you would be wrong.

The top selling smartphone of all time belongs to an older generation. Nokia 6600 is a 2003 smartphone running Series 60 2nd Edition (in other words, Symbian OS ). It had a distinctive physical design that stood it out from the crowd, but it was also the most advanced product ever launched by Nokia at the time. Have a look.

The Nokia 6600 sold 150 million units in its lifetime, and is number 6 on the list of top 10 bestselling mobile phones ever. All the other phones on that list are feature phones. No other smartphone has made it there till date. Production of the 6600 was stopped in 2007.

For perspective, the top selling iPhone model is the iPhone 5 with 70 million units sold, and the bestselling Samsung smartphone is the Galaxy S4 with 80 million units sold.

Mobility Arena

Op, while i don't have any issue with what you have written, you were only quoting your source after all, I do have issues with your source. They mention a list of the top 10 phones, they do not give any information about the list or any references to corroborate their information. Anyway i did a little search of my own and discovered that the bolded part is wrong. The Nokia 5230 which ran symbian series 60 5th edition sold nearly as many if not more phones as the 6600. In fact in the following link:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/2016/01/26/the-20-bestselling-mobile-phones-of-all-time/
the 6600 is ranked 6th while the 5230 is ranked 5th
Also on wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best-selling_mobile_phones
both phones are ranked the same.
Like I said, I don't have any issue with your post, my issue is with your source.

Other links with lists of top selling phones are as follows:
http://www.buymobilephoneinsurance.com/blog/top-20-best-selling-mobile-phones-of-all-time
http://www.technobezz.com/the-20-best-selling-phones-of-all-times

and some of these links didn't even feature the 6600
